1. സ്നേഹം ആചരിപ്പാന് ഉത്സാഹിപ്പിന് ! ആത്മികവരങ്ങളും വിശേഷാല് പ്രവചനവരവും വാഞ്ഛിപ്പിന് .

1. Followe after loue, and couet spirituall giftes, and rather that ye may prophecie.

2. അന്യഭാഷയില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നവന് മനുഷ്യരോടല്ല ദൈവത്തോടത്രേ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; ആരും തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നില്ലല്ലോ; എങ്കിലും അവന് ആത്മാവില് മര്മ്മങ്ങളെ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.

2. For hee that speaketh a strange tongue, speaketh not vnto men, but vnto God: for no man heareth him: howbeit in the spirit he speaketh secret things.

3. പ്രവചിക്കുന്നവനോ ആത്മികവര്ദ്ധനെക്കും പ്രബോധനത്തിന്നും ആശ്വാസത്തിന്നുമായി മനുഷ്യരോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.

3. But he that prophecieth, speaketh vnto me to edifying, and to exhortation, and to comfort.

4. അന്യഭാഷയില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നവന് തനിക്കുതാന് ആത്മികവര്ദ്ധന വരുത്തുന്നു; പ്രവചിക്കുന്നവന് സഭെക്കു ആത്മികവര്ദ്ധന വരുത്തുന്നു.

4. He that speaketh strange language, edifieth himselfe: but hee that prophecieth, edifieth the Church.

5. നിങ്ങള് എല്ലാവരും അന്യഭാഷകളില് സംസാരിക്കേണം എന്നും വിശേഷാല് പ്രവചിക്കേണം എന്നും ഞാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു. അന്യഭാഷകളില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നവന് സഭെക്കു ആത്മികവര്ദ്ധന ലഭിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വ്യാഖ്യാനിക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കില് പ്രവചിക്കുന്നവന് അവനെക്കാള് വലിയവന് .

5. I would that ye all spake strange languages, but rather that ye prophecied: for greater is hee that prophecieth, then hee that speaketh diuers tongues, except hee expound it, that the Church may receiue edification.

6. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞാന് വെളിപ്പാടായിട്ടോ ജ്ഞാനമായിട്ടോ പ്രവചനമായിട്ടോ ഉപദേശമായിട്ടോ നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിക്കാതെ അന്യഭാഷകളില് സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എന്തു പ്രയോജനം വരും?

6. And nowe, brethren, if I come vnto you speaking diuers tongues, what shall I profite you, except I speake to you, either by reuelation, or by knowledge, or by prophecying, or by doctrine?

7. കുഴല്, വീണ എന്നിങ്ങനെ നാദം കൊടുക്കുന്ന നിര്ജ്ജീവസാധനങ്ങള് തന്നേയും നാദഭേദം കാണിക്കാഞ്ഞാല് ഊതിയതോ മീട്ടിയതോ എന്തെന്നു എങ്ങനെ അറിയും?

7. Moreouer things without life which giue a sounde, whether it be a pipe or an harpe, except they make a distinction in the soundes, how shall it be knowen what is piped or harped?

8. കാഹളം തെളിവില്ലാത്ത നാദം കൊടുത്താല് പടെക്കു ആര് ഒരുങ്ങും?

8. And also if the trumpet giue an vncertaine sound, who shall prepare himselfe to battell?

9. അതുപോലെ നിങ്ങളും നാവുകൊണ്ടു തെളിവായ വാക്കു ഉച്ചരിക്കാഞ്ഞാല് സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തെന്നു എങ്ങനെ അറിയും? നിങ്ങള് കാറ്റിനോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നവര് ആകുമല്ലോ.

9. So likewise you, by the tongue, except yee vtter wordes that haue signification, howe shall it be vnderstand what is spoken? for ye shall speake in the ayre.

10. ലോകത്തില് വിവിധ ഭാഷകള് അനവധി ഉണ്ടു; അവയില് ഒന്നും തെളിവില്ലാത്തതല്ല.

10. There are so many kindes of voyces (as it commeth to passe) in the world, and none of them is dumme.

11. ഞാന് ഭാഷ അറിയാഞ്ഞാല് സംസാരിക്കുന്നവന്നു ഞാന് ബര്ബ്ബരന് ആയിരിക്കും; സംസാരിക്കുന്നവന് എനിക്കും ബര്ബ്ബരന് ആയിരിക്കും.

11. Except I know then the power of ye voyce, I shall be vnto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh, shalbe a barbarian vnto me.

12. അവ്വണ്ണം നിങ്ങളും ആത്മവരങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു വാഞ്ഛയുള്ളവരാകയാല് സഭയുടെ ആത്മിക വര്ദ്ധനെക്കായി സഫലന്മാര് ആകുവാന് ശ്രമിപ്പിന് .

12. Euen so, forasmuch as ye couet spirituall giftes, seeke that ye may excell vnto the edifying of the Church.

13. അതുകൊണ്ടു അന്യഭാഷയില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നവന് വ്യാഖ്യാനവരത്തിന്നായി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കട്ടെ.

13. Wherefore, let him that speaketh a strange tongue, pray, that he may interprete.

14. ഞാന് അന്യഭാഷയില് പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് എന്റെ ആത്മാവു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ ബുദ്ധിയോ അഫലമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. For if I pray in a strange togue, my spirit prayeth: but mine vnderstading is without fruite.

15. ആകയാല് എന്തു? ഞാന് ആത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കും; ബുദ്ധികൊണ്ടും പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കും; ആത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു പാടും; ബുദ്ധികൊണ്ടും പാടും.

15. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, but I wil pray with the vnderstanding also: I wil sing with the spirite, but I will sing with the vnderstanding also.

16. അല്ല, നീ ആത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു സ്തോത്രം ചൊല്ലിയാല് ആത്മവരമില്ലാത്തവന് നീ പറയുന്നതു തിരിയാതിരിക്കെ നിന്റെ സ്തോത്രത്തിന്നു എങ്ങനെ ആമേന് പറയും?

16. Else, when thou blessest with the spirit, howe shall hee that occupieth the roome of the vnlearned, say Amen, at thy giuing of thankes, seeing he knoweth not what thou sayest?

17. നീ നന്നായി സ്തോത്രം ചൊല്ലുന്നു സത്യം; മറ്റവന്നു ആത്മികവര്ദ്ധന വരുന്നില്ലതാനും.

17. For thou verely giuest thankes well, but the other is not edified.

18. നിങ്ങളെല്ലാവരിലും അധികം ഞാന് അന്യഭാഷകളില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് ദൈവത്തെ സ്തുതിക്കുന്നു.

18. I thanke my God, I speake languages more then ye all.

19. എങ്കിലും സഭയില് പതിനായിരം വാക്കു അന്യഭാഷയില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാള് അധികം മറ്റുള്ളവരെയും പഠിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ബുദ്ധികൊണ്ടു അഞ്ചുവാക്കു പറവാന് ഞാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു.

19. Yet had I rather in the Church to speake fiue wordes with mine vnderstanding, that I might also instruct others, then ten thousande wordes in a strange tongue.

20. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ബുദ്ധിയില് കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള് ആകരുതു; തിന്മെക്കു ശിശുക്കള് ആയിരിപ്പിന് ; ബുദ്ധിയിലോ മുതിര്ന്നവരാകുവിന് .

20. Brethren, be not children in vnderstanding, but as concerning maliciousnes be children, but in vnderstanding be of a ripe age.

21. “അന്യഭാഷകളാലും അന്യന്മാരുടെ അധരങ്ങളാലും ഞാന് ഈ ജനത്തോടു സംസാരിക്കും എങ്കിലും അവര് എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കയില്ല എന്നു കര്ത്താവു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു” എന്നു ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
യെശയ്യാ 28:11-12

21. In the Lawe it is written, By men of other tongues, and by other languages will I speake vnto this people: yet so shall they not heare me, sayth the Lord.

22. അതുകൊണ്ടു അന്യഭാഷകള് അടയാളമായിരിക്കുന്നതു വിശ്വാസികള്ക്കല്ല, അവിശ്വാസികള്ക്കത്രേ; പ്രവചനമോ അവിശ്വാസികള്ക്കല്ല, വിശ്വാസികള്ക്കു തന്നേ.

22. Wherefore strange tongues are for a signe, not to them that beleeue, but to them that beleeue not: but prophecying serueth not for them that beleeue not, but for them which beleeue.

23. സഭ ഒക്കെയും ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി എല്ലാവരും അന്യഭാഷകളില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് ആത്മവരമില്ലാത്തവരോ അവിശ്വാസികളോ അകത്തു വന്നാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഭ്രാന്തുണ്ടു എന്നു പറകയില്ലയോ?

23. If therefore when the whole Church is come together in one, and all speake strange tongues, there come in they that are vnlearned, or they which beleeue not, will they not say, that ye are out of your wittes?

24. എല്ലാവരും പ്രവചിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിലോ അവിശ്വാസിയോ ആത്മവരമില്ലാത്തവനോ അകത്തു വന്നാല് എല്ലാവരുടെ വാക്കിനാലും അവന്നു പാപബോധം വരും; അവന് എല്ലാവരാലും വിവേചിക്കപ്പെടും.

24. But if all prophecie, and there come in one that beleeueth not, or one vnlearned, hee is rebuked of all men, and is iudged of all,

25. അവന്റെ ഹൃദയരഹസ്യങ്ങളും വെളിപ്പെട്ടുവരും; അങ്ങനെ അവന് കവിണ്ണുവീണു, ദൈവം വാസ്തവമായി നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഉണ്ടു എന്നു ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞു ദൈവത്തെ നമസ്കരിക്കും.

25. And so are the secrets of his heart made manifest, and so he will fall downe on his face and worship God, and say plainely that God is in you in deede.

26. ആകയാല് എന്തു? സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങള് കൂടിവരുമ്പോള് ഔരോരുത്തന്നു സങ്കീര്ത്തനം ഉണ്ടു, ഉപദേശം ഉണ്ടു, വെളിപ്പാടു ഉണ്ടു, അന്യഭാഷ ഉണ്ടു, വ്യഖ്യാനം ഉണ്ടു, സകലവും ആത്മികവര്ദ്ധനെക്കായി ഉതകട്ടെ.

26. What is to be done then, brethren? when ye come together, according as euery one of you hath a Psalme, or hath doctrine, or hath a tongue, or hath reuelation, or hath interpretation, let all things be done vnto edifying.

27. അന്യഭാഷയില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് രണ്ടു പേരോ ഏറിയാല് മൂന്നുപേരോ ആകട്ടെ; അവര് ഔരോരുത്തനായി സംസാരിക്കയും ഒരുവന് വ്യാഖ്യാനിക്കയും ചെയ്യട്ടെ.

27. If any man speake a strange tongue, let it be by two, or at the most, by three, and that by course, and let one interprete.

28. വ്യാഖ്യാനി ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞാല് അന്യഭാഷക്കാരന് സഭയില് മിണ്ടാതെ തന്നോടും ദൈവത്തോടും സംസാരിക്കട്ടെ.

28. But if there be no interpreter, let him keepe silence in the Church, which speaketh languages, and let him speake to himselfe, and to God.

29. പ്രവാചകന്മാര് രണ്ടു മൂന്നു പേര് സംസാരിക്കയും മറ്റുള്ളവര് വിവേചിക്കയും ചെയ്യട്ടെ.

29. Let the Prophets speake two, or three, and let the other iudge.

30. ഇരിക്കുന്നവനായ മറ്റൊരുവന്നു വെളിപ്പാടുണ്ടായാലോ ഒന്നാമത്തവന് മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കട്ടെ.

30. And if any thing be reueiled to another that sitteth by, let the first holde his peace.

31. എല്ലാവരും പഠിപ്പാനും എല്ലാവര്ക്കും പ്രബോധനം ലഭിപ്പാനുമായി നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എല്ലാവര്ക്കും ഔരോരുത്തനായി പ്രവചിക്കാമല്ലോ.

31. For ye may all prophecie one by one, that all may learne, and all may haue comfort.

32. പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ ആത്മാക്കള് പ്രവാചകന്മാര്ക്കും കീഴടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

32. And the spirits of the Prophets are subiect to the Prophets.

33. ദൈവം കലക്കത്തിന്റെ ദൈവമല്ല സമാധാനത്തിന്റെ ദൈവമത്രേ.

33. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as we see in all ye Churches of the Saints.

34. വിശുദ്ധന്മാരുടെ സര്വ്വസഭകളിലും എന്നപോലെ സ്ത്രീകള് സഭായോഗങ്ങളില് മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കട്ടെ; ന്യായപ്രമാണവും പറയുന്നതുപോലെ കീഴടങ്ങിയിരിപ്പാനല്ലാതെ സംസാരിപ്പാന് അവര്ക്കും അനുവാദമില്ല.

34. Let your women keepe silence in the Churches: for it is not permitted vnto them to speake: but they ought to be subiect, as also the Lawe sayth.

35. അവര് വല്ലതും പഠിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് വീട്ടില്വെച്ചു ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാരോടു ചോദിച്ചുകൊള്ളട്ടേ; സ്ത്രീ സഭയില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു അനുചിതമല്ലോ.

35. And if they will learne any thing, let them aske their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speake in the Church.

36. ദൈവവചനം നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നോ പുറപ്പെട്ടതു? അല്ല, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു മാത്രമോ വന്നതു?

36. Came the worde of God out from you? either came it vnto you onely?

37. താന് പ്രവാചകന് എന്നോ ആത്മികന് എന്നോ ഒരുത്തന്നു തോന്നുന്നു എങ്കില്, ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നതു കര്ത്താവിന്റെ കല്പന ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവന് അറിഞ്ഞുകൊള്ളട്ടെ.

37. If any man thinke him selfe to be a Prophet, or spirituall, let him acknowledge, that the things, that I write vnto you, are the commandements of the Lord.

38. ഒരുവന് അറിയുന്നില്ലെങ്കില് അവന് അറിയാതിരിക്കട്ടെ.

38. And if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

39. അതുകൊണ്ടു സഹോദരന്മാരേ, പ്രവചനവരം വാഞ്ഛിപ്പിന് ; അന്യഭാഷകളില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു വിലക്കുകയുമരുതു. സകലവും ഉചിതമായും ക്രമമായും നടക്കട്ടെ.

39. Wherefore, brethren, couet to prophecie, and forbid not to speake languages.
