1. അബീമേലെക്കിന്റെ ശേഷം ദോദോവിന്റെ മകനായ പൂവാവിന്റെ മകന് തോലാ എന്ന യിസ്സാഖാര്ഗോത്രക്കാരന് യിസ്രായേലിനെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു; എഫ്രയീംനാട്ടിലെ ശാമീരില് ആയിരുന്നു അവന് പാര്ത്തതു.

1. After Avimelekh there arose to save Yisra'el Tola the son of Pu`ah, the son of Dodo, a man of Yissakhar; and he lived in Shamir in the hill-country of Efrayim.

2. അവന് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഇരുപത്തുമൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ന്യായാധിപനായിരുന്ന ശേഷം മരിച്ചു; ശാമീരില് അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു.

2. He judged Yisra'el twenty-three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.

3. അവന്റെ ശേഷം ഗിലെയാദ്യനായ യായീര് എഴുന്നേറ്റു യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഇരുപത്തുരണ്ടു സംവത്സരം ന്യായാധിപനായിരുന്നു.

3. After him arose Ya'ir, the Gil`adite; and he judged Yisra'el twenty-two years.

4. അവന്നു മുപ്പതു കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറി ഔടിക്കുന്ന മുപ്പതു പുത്രന്മാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും മുപ്പതു ഊരുകളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവേക്കു ഇന്നുവരെയും ഹവ്വോത്ത്--യായീര് എന്നു പേര് പറയുന്നു; അവ ഗിലെയാദ് ദേശത്തു ആകുന്നു.

4. He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkey colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havvot-Ya'ir to this day, which are in the land of Gil`ad.

5. യായീര് മരിച്ചു കാമോനില് അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു.

5. Ya'ir died, and was buried in Kamon.

6. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് പിന്നെയും യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു ബാല് വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയും അസ്തോരെത്ത് പ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെയും അരാമ്യദേവന്മാരെയും സീദോന്യദേവന്മാരെയും മോവാബ്യദേവന്മാരെയും അമ്മോന്യദേവന്മാരെയും ഫെലിസ്ത്യദേവന്മാരെയും സേവിച്ചു, യഹോവയെ സേവിക്കാതെ അവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

6. The children of Yisra'el again did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Ba`alim, and the `Ashtarot, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Tzidon, and the gods of Mo'av, and the gods of the children of `Ammon, and the gods of the Pelishtim; and they forsook the LORD, and didn't serve him.

7. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ കോപം യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു, അവന് അവരെ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യിലും അമ്മോന്യരുടെ കയ്യിലും ഏല്പിച്ചു.

7. The anger of the LORD was kindled against Yisra'el, and he sold them into the hand of the Pelishtim, and into the hand of the children of `Ammon.

8. അവര് അന്നുമുതല് പതിനെട്ടു സംവത്സരത്തോളം യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളെ യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ ഗിലെയാദ് എന്ന അമോര്യ്യദേശത്തുള്ള എല്ലായിസ്രായേല്മക്കളെയും തന്നേ ഉപദ്രവിച്ചു ഞെരുക്കി.

8. They vexed and oppressed the children of Yisra'el that year: eighteen years oppressed they all the children of Yisra'el that were beyond the Yarden in the land of the Amori, which is in Gil`ad.

9. അമ്മോന്യര് യെഹൂദയോടും ബെന്യാമീനോടും എഫ്രയീംഗൃഹത്തോടും യുദ്ധംചെയ്വാന് യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേല് വളരെ കഷ്ടത്തില് ആയി.

9. The children of `Ammon passed over the Yarden to fight also against Yehudah, and against Binyamin, and against the house of Efrayim; so that Yisra'el was sore distressed.

10. യിസ്രായേല് മക്കള് യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചുഞങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയും ബാല് വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ സേവിക്കയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു നിന്നോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. The children of Yisra'el cried to the LORD, saying, We have sinned against you, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Ba`alim.

11. യഹോവ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുമിസ്രയീമ്യര്, അമോര്യ്യര്, അമ്മോന്യര്, ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് എന്നിവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ?

11. The LORD said to the children of Yisra'el, Didn't I save you from the Mitzrim, and from the Amori, from the children of `Ammon, and from the Pelishtim?

12. സീദോന്യരും അമാലേക്യരും മാവോന്യരും നിങ്ങളെ ഞെരുക്കി; നിങ്ങള് എന്നോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും രക്ഷിച്ചു.

12. The Tzidonim also, and the `Amaleki, and the Ma`on, did oppress you; and you cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand.

13. എങ്കിലും നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു അന്യദൈവങ്ങളെ സേവിച്ചു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഇനി ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിക്കയില്ല.

13. Yet you have forsaken me, and served other gods: therefore I will save you no more.

14. നിങ്ങള് തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിട്ടുള്ള ദേവന്മാരോടു നിലവിളിപ്പിന് ; അവര് നിങ്ങളുടെ കഷ്ടകാലത്തു നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിക്കട്ടെ.

14. Go and cry to the gods which you have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress.

15. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് യഹോവയോടുഞങ്ങള് പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെയൊക്കെയും ഞങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തുകൊള്ക; ഇന്നു മാത്രം ഞങ്ങളെ വിടുവിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. The children of Yisra'el said to the LORD, We have sinned: do you to us whatever seems good to you; only deliver us, we pray you, this day.

16. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു അന്യദൈവങ്ങളെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു. യഹോവയെ സേവിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ അരിഷ്ടതയില് അവന്നു സഹതാപം തോന്നി.

16. They put away the foreign gods from among them, and served the LORD; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Yisra'el.

17. അന്നേരം അമ്മോന്യര് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി ഗിലെയാദില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി; യിസ്രായേല് മക്കളും ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി മിസ്പയില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

17. Then the children of `Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gil`ad. The children of Yisra'el assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mitzpah.

18. ഗിലെയാദിലെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും ജനവും തമ്മില് തമ്മില്അമ്മോന്യരോടു യുദ്ധം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നവന് ആര്? അവന് ഗിലെയാദിലെ സകലനിവാസികള്ക്കും തലവനാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. The people, the princes of Gil`ad, said one to another, What man is he who will begin to fight against the children of `Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gil`ad.
