1. അബീമേലെക്കിന്റെ ശേഷം ദോദോവിന്റെ മകനായ പൂവാവിന്റെ മകന് തോലാ എന്ന യിസ്സാഖാര്ഗോത്രക്കാരന് യിസ്രായേലിനെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു; എഫ്രയീംനാട്ടിലെ ശാമീരില് ആയിരുന്നു അവന് പാര്ത്തതു.

1. And after Abimelech, Tola the son of Puah rose up to save Israel, [being] the son of his father's brother, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in Mount Ephraim.

2. അവന് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഇരുപത്തുമൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ന്യായാധിപനായിരുന്ന ശേഷം മരിച്ചു; ശാമീരില് അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു.

2. And he judged Israel twenty-three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.

3. അവന്റെ ശേഷം ഗിലെയാദ്യനായ യായീര് എഴുന്നേറ്റു യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഇരുപത്തുരണ്ടു സംവത്സരം ന്യായാധിപനായിരുന്നു.

3. And after him arose Jair of Gilead, and he judged Israel twenty-two years.

4. അവന്നു മുപ്പതു കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറി ഔടിക്കുന്ന മുപ്പതു പുത്രന്മാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും മുപ്പതു ഊരുകളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവേക്കു ഇന്നുവരെയും ഹവ്വോത്ത്--യായീര് എന്നു പേര് പറയുന്നു; അവ ഗിലെയാദ് ദേശത്തു ആകുന്നു.

4. And he had thirty-two sons riding on thirty-two colts, and they had thirty-two cities; and they called them Jair's towns until this day in the land of Gilead.

5. യായീര് മരിച്ചു കാമോനില് അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു.

5. And Jair died, and was buried in Camon.

6. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് പിന്നെയും യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു ബാല് വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയും അസ്തോരെത്ത് പ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെയും അരാമ്യദേവന്മാരെയും സീദോന്യദേവന്മാരെയും മോവാബ്യദേവന്മാരെയും അമ്മോന്യദേവന്മാരെയും ഫെലിസ്ത്യദേവന്മാരെയും സേവിച്ചു, യഹോവയെ സേവിക്കാതെ അവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

6. And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalam, and Ashtoreth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Sidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook the Lord, and did not serve Him.

7. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ കോപം യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു, അവന് അവരെ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യിലും അമ്മോന്യരുടെ കയ്യിലും ഏല്പിച്ചു.

7. And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon.

8. അവര് അന്നുമുതല് പതിനെട്ടു സംവത്സരത്തോളം യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളെ യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ ഗിലെയാദ് എന്ന അമോര്യ്യദേശത്തുള്ള എല്ലായിസ്രായേല്മക്കളെയും തന്നേ ഉപദ്രവിച്ചു ഞെരുക്കി.

8. And they afflicted and bruised the children of Israel at that time eighteen years, all the children of Israel beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorite in Gilead.

9. അമ്മോന്യര് യെഹൂദയോടും ബെന്യാമീനോടും എഫ്രയീംഗൃഹത്തോടും യുദ്ധംചെയ്വാന് യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേല് വളരെ കഷ്ടത്തില് ആയി.

9. And the children of Ammon went over the Jordan to fight with Judah, and Benjamin, and with Ephraim; and the children of Israel were greatly afflicted.

10. യിസ്രായേല് മക്കള് യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചുഞങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയും ബാല് വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ സേവിക്കയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു നിന്നോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. And the children of Israel cried to the Lord, saying, We have sinned against You, because we have forsaken God, and served Baalam.

11. യഹോവ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുമിസ്രയീമ്യര്, അമോര്യ്യര്, അമ്മോന്യര്, ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് എന്നിവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ?

11. And the Lord said to the children of Israel, Did I not save you from Egypt and from the Amorite, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines,

12. സീദോന്യരും അമാലേക്യരും മാവോന്യരും നിങ്ങളെ ഞെരുക്കി; നിങ്ങള് എന്നോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും രക്ഷിച്ചു.

12. and from the Sidonians, and Amalek, and Midian, who afflicted you? And you cried to Me, and I saved you out of their hand?

13. എങ്കിലും നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു അന്യദൈവങ്ങളെ സേവിച്ചു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഇനി ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിക്കയില്ല.

13. Yet you forsook Me and served other gods; therefore I will not save you anymore.

14. നിങ്ങള് തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിട്ടുള്ള ദേവന്മാരോടു നിലവിളിപ്പിന് ; അവര് നിങ്ങളുടെ കഷ്ടകാലത്തു നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിക്കട്ടെ.

14. Go, and cry to the gods whom you have chosen to yourselves, and let them save you in the time of your affliction.

15. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് യഹോവയോടുഞങ്ങള് പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെയൊക്കെയും ഞങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തുകൊള്ക; ഇന്നു മാത്രം ഞങ്ങളെ വിടുവിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And the children of Israel said to the Lord, We have sinned: do unto us according to all that is good in Your eyes; only deliver us this day.

16. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു അന്യദൈവങ്ങളെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു. യഹോവയെ സേവിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ അരിഷ്ടതയില് അവന്നു സഹതാപം തോന്നി.

16. And they put away the strange gods from the midst of them, and served the Lord only, and His soul was pained for the trouble of Israel.

17. അന്നേരം അമ്മോന്യര് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി ഗിലെയാദില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി; യിസ്രായേല് മക്കളും ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി മിസ്പയില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

17. And the children of Ammon went up, and encamped in Gilead; and the children of Israel were gathered together and encamped on the hill.

18. ഗിലെയാദിലെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും ജനവും തമ്മില് തമ്മില്അമ്മോന്യരോടു യുദ്ധം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നവന് ആര്? അവന് ഗിലെയാദിലെ സകലനിവാസികള്ക്കും തലവനാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And the people, the princes of Gilead,said every man to his neighbor, Who is he that shall begin to fight against the children of Ammon? He shall even be head over all that dwell in Gilead.
