1. ഏഹൂദ് മരിച്ചശേഷം യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് വീണ്ടും യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

1. After Ehud died, the people again did what the Lord said was wrong.

2. യഹോവ അവരെ ഹാസോരില്വാണ കനാന്യരാജാവായ യാബീന്നു വിറ്റുകളഞ്ഞു; അവന്റെ സേനാപതി ജാതികളുടെ ഹരോശെത്തില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന സീസെരാ ആയിരുന്നു.

2. So the Lord allowed King Jabin of Canaan to defeat the Israelites. Jabin ruled in a city named Hazor. A man named Sisera was the commander of King Jabin's army. Sisera lived in a town called Harosheth Haggoyim.

3. അവന്നു തൊള്ളായിരം ഇരിമ്പുരഥം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവന് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളെ ഇരുപതു സംവത്സരം കഠിനമായി ഞെരുക്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

3. Sisera had 900 iron chariots, and he was very cruel to the Israelites for 20 years. So they cried to the Lord for help.

4. ആ കാലത്തു ലപ്പീദോത്തിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ ദെബോരാ എന്ന പ്രവാചകി യിസ്രായേലില് ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്തു.

4. There was a woman prophet named Deborah. She was the wife of a man named Lappidoth. She was judge of Israel at that time.

5. അവള് എഫ്രയീംപര്വ്വതത്തില് രാമെക്കും ബേഥേലിന്നും മദ്ധ്യേയുള്ള ദെബോരയുടെ ഈന്തപ്പനയുടെ കീഴില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തിന്നു അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുക പതിവായിരുന്നു.

5. One day Deborah was sitting under the Palm Tree of Deborah, and the Israelites came up to her to ask what to do about Sisera. (The Palm Tree of Deborah is between the cities of Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim.)

6. Deborah sent a message to a man named Barak and asked him to come meet with her. Barak was the son of a man named Abinoam. Barak lived in the city of Kedesh, which is in the area of Naphtali. Deborah said to Barak, 'The Lord, the God of Israel, commands you: 'Go and gather 10,000 men from the tribes of Naphtali and Zebulun. Lead them to Mount Tabor.

7. ഞാന് യാബീന്റെ സേനാപതി സീസെരയെയും അവന്റെ രഥങ്ങളെയും സൈന്യത്തെയും കീശോന് തോട്ടിന്നരികെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കുമെന്നു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. I will make Sisera, the commander of King Jabin's army, come to you. I will make Sisera, his chariots, and his army come to the Kishon River. I will help you defeat Sisera there.''

8. ബാരാക് അവളോടുനീ എന്നോടു കൂടെ വരുന്നെങ്കില് ഞാന് പോകാം; നീ വരുന്നില്ല എങ്കില് ഞാന് പോകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. Then Barak said to Deborah, 'I will go and do this if you will go with me. But if you will not go with me, I will not go.'

9. അതിന്നു അവള്ഞാന് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരാം; എന്നാല് നീ പേകുന്ന യാത്രയാല് ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന ബഹുമാനം നിനക്കു വരികയില്ല; യഹോവ സീസെരയെ ഒരു സ്ത്രീയുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ദെബോരാ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ബാരാക്കിനോടുകൂടെ കേദേശിലേക്കു പോയി.

9. Of course I will go with you,' Deborah answered. 'But because of your attitude, you will not be honored when Sisera is defeated. The Lord will allow a woman to defeat Sisera.' So Deborah went with Barak to the city of Kedesh.

10. At the city of Kedesh, Barak called the tribes of Zebulun and Naphtali together. He gathered 10,000 men to follow him from these tribes, and Deborah also went with him.

11. എന്നാല് കേന്യനായ ഹേബെര് മോശെയുടെ അളിയന് ഹോബാബിന്റെ മക്കളായ കേന്യരെ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞു കേദെശിന്നരികെയുള്ള സാനന്നീമിലെ കരുവേലകംവരെ കൂടാരം അടിച്ചിരുന്നു.

11. There was a man named Heber who was from the Kenites. The Kenites were descendants of Moses' father-in-law, Hobab. Heber had left the other Kenites and had made his home by the oak tree in Zaanannim, near the city of Kedesh.

12. അബീനോവാബിന്റെ മകനായ ബാരാക് താബോര്പര്വ്വതത്തില് കയറിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സീസെരെക്കു അറിവുകിട്ടി.

12. Someone told Sisera that Barak son of Abinoam was at Mount Tabor.

13. സീസെരാ തന്റെ തൊള്ളായിരം ഇരിമ്പുരഥവുമായി തന്റെ എല്ലാ പടജ്ജനത്തെയും ജാതികളുടെ ഹരോശെത്തില്നിന്നു കീശോന് തോട്ടിന്നരികെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി.

13. So Sisera got together his 900 iron chariots and all the men with him, and they marched from the city of Harosheth Haggoyim to the Kishon River.

14. അപ്പോള് ദെബോരാ ബാരാക്കിനോടുപുറപ്പെട്ടുചെല്ലുക; യഹോവ ഇന്നു സീസെരയെ നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവ നിനക്കു മുമ്പായി പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ബാരാക്കും അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ പതിനായിരംപേരും താബോര്പര്വ്വതത്തില് നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു,

14. Then Deborah said to Barak, 'Today the Lord will help you defeat Sisera. Surely you know that the Lord has already cleared the way for you.' So Barak led the 10,000 men down from Mount Tabor.

15. യഹോവ സീസെരയെയും അവന്റെ സകലരഥങ്ങളെയും സൈന്യത്തെയും ബാരാക്കിന്റെ മുമ്പില് വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് തോല്പിച്ചു; സീസെരാ രഥത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി കാല്നടയായി ഔടിപ്പോയി.

15. Barak and his men attacked Sisera. During the battle, the Lord confused Sisera and his army and chariots. They did not know what to do. Barak and his men defeated Sisera's army, but Sisera left his chariot and ran away on foot.

16. ബാരാക് രഥങ്ങളെയും സൈന്യത്തെയും ജാതികളുടെ ഹരോശെത്ത്വരെ ഔടിച്ചു സീസെരയുടെ സൈന്യമൊക്കെയും വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് വീണു; ഒരുത്തനും ശേഷിച്ചില്ല.

16. Barak continued fighting Sisera's army. He and his men chased Sisera's chariots and army all the way to Harosheth Haggoyim. They used their swords to kill all of Sisera's men. Not one of Sisera's men was left alive.

17. എന്നാല് സീസെരാ കാല്നടയായി കേന്യനായ ഹേബെരിന്റെ ഭാര്യ യായേലിന്റെ കൂടാരത്തിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി; കേന്യനായ ഹേബെരിന്റെ ഗൃഹവും ഹാസോര് രാജാവായ യാബീനും തമ്മില് സമാധാനം ആയിരുന്നു.

17. But Sisera ran away to the tent where a woman named Jael lived. Jael was the wife of Heber, the Kenite. His family was at peace with King Jabin of Hazor. That is why Sisera ran to Jael's tent.

18. യായേല് സീസെരയെ എതിരേറ്റുചെന്നു അവനോടുഇങ്ങോട്ടു കയറിക്കൊള്ക, യജമാനനേ, ഇങ്ങോട്ടു കയറിക്കൊള്ക; ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് കൂടാരത്തില് കയറിച്ചെന്നു; അവള് അവനെ ഒരു പരവതാനികൊണ്ടു മൂടി.

18. Jael saw him coming, so she went out to meet him and said, 'Sir, come into my tent. Come in. Don't be afraid.' So Sisera went into Jael's tent, and she covered him with a blanket.

19. But first, Sisera asked Jael for a drink of water. Jael had some milk in a bottle made from animal skin. So she gave him a drink of the milk and then covered him up.

20. Then Sisera said to Jael, 'Go stand at the entrance to the tent. If anyone comes by and asks you, 'Is anyone in there?' say, 'No.''

21. എന്നാല് ഹേബെരിന്റെ ഭാര്യ യായേല് കൂടാരത്തിന്റെ ഒരു കുറ്റി എടുത്തു കയ്യില് ചുറ്റികയും പിടിച്ചു പതുക്കെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു കുറ്റി അവന്റെ ചെന്നിയില് തറെച്ചു; അതു നിലത്തു ചെന്നു ഉറെച്ചു; അവന്നു ഗാഢനിദ്ര ആയിരുന്നു; അവന് ബോധംകെട്ടു മരിച്ചുപോയി.

21. But Jael found a tent peg and a hammer. She quietly went to Sisera. Sisera was very tired, so he was sleeping. She put the tent peg to the side of Sisera's head and hit it with a hammer. The tent peg went through the side of his head and into the ground. Sisera died.

22. ബാരാക് സീസെരയെ തിരഞ്ഞു ചെല്ലുമ്പോള് യായേല് അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു അവനോടുവരിക, നീ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്ന ആളെ ഞാന് കാണിച്ചുതരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നപ്പോള് സീസെരാ ചെന്നിയില് കുറ്റിയുമായി മരിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

22. Just then Barak came by Jael's tent, looking for Sisera. Jael went out to meet Barak and said, 'Come in here, and I will show you the man you are looking for.' So Barak entered the tent with Jael. There Barak found Sisera lying dead on the ground, with the tent peg through the side of his head.

23. ഇങ്ങനെ ദൈവം അന്നു കനാന്യ രാജാവായ യാബീനെ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ക്കു കീഴടക്കി.

23. On that day God defeated King Jabin of Canaan for the Israelites.

24. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് കനാന്യരാജാവായ യാബീനെ നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കുംവരെ അവരുടെ കൈ കനാന്യരാജാവായ യാബീന്നു മേലക്കുമേല് ഭാരമായിത്തീര്ന്നു.

24. So the Israelites became stronger and stronger until they defeated King Jabin of Canaan. The Israelites finally destroyed him.
