1. പിന്നെ യാക്കോബ് പ്രയാണം ചെയ്തു കിഴക്കരുടെ ദേശത്തു എത്തി.

1. Then Iacob lyfte vp his fete and wet toward the east countre.

2. അവന് വെളിന് പ്രദേശത്തു ഒരു കിണറ് കണ്ടു. അതിന്നരികെ മൂന്നു ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടം കിടക്കുന്നു. ആ കിണറ്റില്നിന്നു ആയിരുന്നു ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടങ്ങള്ക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കുന്നതു; എന്നാല് കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായ്ക്കലുള്ള കല്ലു വലുതായിരുന്നു.

2. And as he loked aboute behold there was a well in the feld and .iij. flockes of shepe laye therby (for at that well were the flockes watered) and there laye a great stone at the well mouth

3. ആ സ്ഥലത്തു കൂട്ടങ്ങള് ഒക്കെ കൂടുകയും അവര് കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായ്ക്കല്നിന്നു കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടി ആടുകള്ക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കയും കല്ലു കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായക്ക്ല് അതിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തു തന്നേ തിരികെ വെക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

3. And the maner was to brynge the flockes thyther and to roull the stone fro the welles mouth and to water the shepe and to put the stone agayne vppon the wells mouth vnto his place.

4. യാക്കോബ് അവരോടുസഹോദരന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങള് എവിടുത്തുകാര് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഞങ്ങള് ഹാരാന്യര് എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And Iacob sayde vnto the: brethern whece be ye? and they sayde: of Haran ar we.

5. അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് നാഹോരിന്റെ മകനായ ലാബാനെ അറിയുമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഅറിയും എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

5. And he sayde vnto the: knowe ye Laban the sonne of Nahor. And they sayde: we knowe him.

6. അവന് അവരോടുഅവന് സുഖമായിരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. സുഖം തന്നേ; അവന്റെ മകള് റാഹേല് അതാ ആടുകളോടു കൂടെ വരുന്നു എന്നു അവര് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And he sayde vnto the: is he in good health? And they sayde: he is in good health: and boholde his doughter Rahel cometh with ye shepe.

7. പകല് ഇനിയും വളരെയുണ്ടല്ലോ; കൂട്ടം ഒന്നിച്ചു കൂടുന്ന നേരമായിട്ടില്ല; ആടുകള്ക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി തീറ്റുവിന് എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു

7. And he sayde: lo it is yet a great whyle to nyghte nether is it tyme yt the catell shulde be gathered together: water the shepe and goo and fede the.

8. അവര്കൂട്ടങ്ങള് ഒക്കെയും കൂടുവോളം ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വഹിയാ; അവര് കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായ്ക്കല്നിന്നു കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടും; പിന്നെ ഞങ്ങള് ആടുകള്ക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And they sayde: we maye not vntill all ye flockes be brought together and the stone be roulled fro the wells mouth and so we water oure shepe.

9. അവന് അവരോടു സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ റാഹേല് തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ ആടുകളോടുകൂടെ വന്നു. അവളായിരുന്നു അവയെ മേയിച്ചുവന്നതു.

9. Whyle he yet talked with the Rahel came with hir fathers shepe for she kepte them.

10. തന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ മകള് റാഹേലിനെയും അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ ആടുകളെയും കണ്ടപ്പോള് യാക്കോബ് അടുത്തു ചെന്നു കണറ്റിന്റെ വായ്ക്കല്നിന്നു കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടി, അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ ആടുകള്ക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുത്തു.

10. As soone As Iacob sawe Rahel the doughter of Laban his mothers brother and the shepe of Laban his mothers brother he went and rowled the stone fro the wells mouth and watered the shepe of Laba his mothers brother

11. യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനെ ചുംബിച്ചു പൊട്ടിക്കരഞ്ഞു.

11. And Iacob kyssed Rahel and lyfte vp his voyce and wepte:

12. താന് അവളുടെ അപ്പന്റെ സഹോദരന് എന്നും റിബെക്കയുടെ മകനെന്നും യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവള് ഔടിച്ചെന്നു തന്റെ അപ്പനെ അറിയിച്ചു.

12. and tolde her also yt he was hir fathers brother and Rebeccas sonne. The Rahel ranne and tolde hir father.

13. ലാബാന് തന്റെ സഹോദരിയുടെ മകനായ യാക്കോബിന്റെ വസ്തുത കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവനെ എതിരേല്പാന് ഔടിച്ചെന്നു അവനെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്തു ചുംബിച്ചു വീട്ടില് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവന് ലാബാനോടു വിവരം ഒക്കെയും പറഞ്ഞു.

13. When Laban herd tell of Iacob his sisters sonne he ranne agaynst him and embraced hi and kyssed him ad broughte him in to his house. And the Iacob told Laba all ye matter

14. ലാബാന് അവനോടുനീ എന്റെ അസ്ഥിയും മാംസവും തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് ഒരു മാസകാലം അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് പാര്ത്തു.

14. And the Laba sayde: well thou art my bone and my flesh. Abyde with me the space of a moneth.

15. പിന്നെ ലാബാന് യാക്കോബിനോടുനീ എന്റെ സഹോദരനാകകൊണ്ടു വെറുതെ എന്നെ സേവിക്കേണമോ? നിനക്കു എന്തു പ്രതിഫലം വേണം? എന്നോടു പറക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And afterward Laban sayd vnto Iacob: though thou be my brother shuldest thou therfore serue me for nought?tell me what shall thi wages be?

16. എന്നാല് ലാബാന്നു രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുമൂത്തവള്ക്കു ലേയാ എന്നും ഇളയവള്ക്കു റാഹേല് എന്നും പേര്.

16. And Laban had .ij. doughters the eldest called Lea and the yongest Rahel.

17. ലേയയുടെ കണ്ണു ശോഭ കുറഞ്ഞതായിരുന്നു; റാഹേലോ സുന്ദരിയും മനോഹരരൂപിണിയും ആയിരുന്നു.

17. Lea was tender eyed: But Rahel was bewtifull ad well fauored.

18. യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു; നിന്റെ ഇളയമകള് റാഹേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഞാന് ഏഴു സംവത്സരം നിന്നെ സേവിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And Iacob loued her well and sayde: I will serue the .vij. yere for Rahel thy yongest doughter.

19. അതിന്നു ലാബാന് ഞാന് അവളെ അന്യപുരുഷന്നുകൊടുക്കുന്നതിലും നിനക്കു തരുന്നതു നല്ലതു; എന്നോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. And Laban answered: it is better yt I geue her the than to another man? byde therfore with me.

20. അങ്ങനെ യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഏഴു സംവത്സരം സേവ ചെയ്തു; അവന് അവളെ സ്നേഹിക്കകൊണ്ടു അതു അവന്നു അല്പകാലം പോലെ തോന്നി.

20. And Iacob serued .vij. yeres for Rahel and they semed vnto him but a fewe dayes for the loue he had to her.

21. അനന്തരം യാക്കോബ് ലാബാനോടുഎന്റെ സമയം തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് എന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുവാന് അവളെ തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. And Iacob sayde vnto Laban geue me my wife that I maye lye with hir for the tyme appoynted me is come.

22. അപ്പോള് ലാബാന് ആ സ്ഥലത്തെ ജനങ്ങളെ എല്ലാം ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി ഒരു വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു.

22. Than Laban bade all the men of that place and made a feast.

23. എന്നാല് രാത്രിയില് അവന് തന്റെ മകള് ലേയയെ കൂട്ടി അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടു പോയി ആക്കി; അവന് അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു.

23. And when eue was come he toke Lea his doughter and broughte her to him and he went in vnto her.

24. ലാബാന് തന്റെ മകള് ലേയെക്കു തന്റെ ദാസി സില്പയെ ദാസിയായി കൊടുത്തു.

24. And Laban gaue vnto his doughter Lea Zilpha his mayde to be hir seruaunte.

25. നേരം വെളുത്തപ്പോള് അതു ലേയാ എന്നു കണ്ടു അവന് ലാബാനോടുനീ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തതു എന്തു? റാഹേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി അല്ലയോ ഞാന് നിന്നെ സേവിച്ചതു? നീ എന്തിന്നു എന്നെ ചതിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. And when the mornynge was come beholde it was Lea. Than sayde he to Laban: wherfore hast thou played thus with me? dyd not I serue the for Rahel wherfore than hast thou begyled me?

26. അതിന്നു ലാബാന് മൂത്തവള്ക്കു മുമ്പെ ഇളയവളെ കൊടുക്ക ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദിക്കില് നടപ്പില്ല.

26. Laban answered: it is not the maner of this place to marke the yongest before the eldest.

27. ഇവളുടെ ആഴ്ചവട്ടം നിവര്ത്തിക്ക; എന്നാല് നീ ഇനിയും ഏഴു സംവത്സരം എന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെയ്യുന്ന സേവേക്കു വേണ്ടി ഞങ്ങള് അവളെയും നിനക്കു തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. Passe out this weke and tha shall this also be geuen the for ye seruyce which thou shalt serue me yet .vij. yeres more.

28. യാക്കോബ് അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്തു, അവളുടെ ആഴ്ചവട്ടം നിവര്ത്തിച്ചു; അവന് തന്റെ മകള് റാഹേലിനെയും അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു.

28. And Iacob dyd eue so and passed out that weke and than he gaue hi Rahel his doughter to wyfe also.

29. തന്റെ മകള് റാഹേലിന്നു ലാബാന് തന്റെ ദാസി ബില്ഹയെ ദാസിയായി കൊടുത്തു.

29. And Laban gaue to Rahel his doughter Bilha his handmayde to be hir servaute.

30. അവന് റാഹേലിന്റെ അടുക്കലും ചെന്നു; റാഹേലിനെ ലേയയെക്കാള് അധികം സ്നേഹിച്ചു; പിന്നെയും ഏഴു സംവത്സരം അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് സേവചെയ്തു.

30. So laye he by Rahel also and loued Rahel more than Lea and serued him yet .vij. yeres more.

31. ലേയാ അനിഷ്ടയെന്നു യഹോവ കണ്ടപ്പോള് അവളുടെ ഗര്ഭത്തെ തുറന്നു; റാഹേലോ മച്ചിയായിരുന്നു.

31. When the LORde sawe that Lea was despised he made her frutefull: but Rahel was baren.

32. ലേയാ ഗര്ഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചുയഹോവ എന്റെ സങ്കടം കണ്ടു; ഇപ്പോള് എന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവു എന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവള് അവന്നു രൂബേന് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

32. And Lea conceaued and bare a sonne ad called his name Rube for she sayde::the LORde hath loked apon my tribulation. And now my husbonde will loue me.

33. അവള് പിന്നെയും ഗര്ഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചുഞാന് അനിഷ ്ടഎന്നു യഹോവ കേട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു ഇവനെയും എനിക്കു തന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ശിമെയോന് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

33. And she conceaued agayne and bare a sonne and sayde: the LORde hath herde that I am despised ad hath therfore geuen me this sonne also and she called him Simeon.

34. അവള് പിന്നെയും ഗര്ഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചുഇപ്പോള് ഈ സമയം എന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവു എന്നോടു പറ്റിച്ചേരും; ഞാന് അവന്നു മൂന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെ പ്രസവിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവള് അവന്നു ലേവി എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

34. And she conceaued yet and bare a sonne ad sayde: now this once will my husbonde kepe me company because I haue borne him .iij. sonnes: and therfore she called his name Levi.

35. അവള് പിന്നെയും ഗര്ഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; ഇപ്പോള് ഞാന് യഹോവയെ സ്തുതിക്കും എന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവള് അവന്നു യെഹൂദാ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു. പിന്നെ അവള്ക്കു പ്രസവം നിന്നു.

35. And she conceaued yet agayne and bare a sonne saynge? Now will I prayse the LORde: therfore she called his name Iuda and left bearynge.
