1. പിന്നെ യാക്കോബ് പ്രയാണം ചെയ്തു കിഴക്കരുടെ ദേശത്തു എത്തി.

1. Then Iacob went on his iourney, & came into the lande of the people of the east.

2. അവന് വെളിന് പ്രദേശത്തു ഒരു കിണറ് കണ്ടു. അതിന്നരികെ മൂന്നു ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടം കിടക്കുന്നു. ആ കിണറ്റില്നിന്നു ആയിരുന്നു ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടങ്ങള്ക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കുന്നതു; എന്നാല് കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായ്ക്കലുള്ള കല്ലു വലുതായിരുന്നു.

2. And [as] he loked about, beholde, there was a wel in the field, and loe, three flockes of sheepe lay there by, for at that well were the flockes watered: and there was a great stone vpon the well mouth.

3. ആ സ്ഥലത്തു കൂട്ടങ്ങള് ഒക്കെ കൂടുകയും അവര് കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായ്ക്കല്നിന്നു കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടി ആടുകള്ക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കയും കല്ലു കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായക്ക്ല് അതിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തു തന്നേ തിരികെ വെക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

3. And thyther were all the flockes brought, and they roulled the stone fro the welles mouth, & watred the sheepe, & put the stone agayne vpon the welles mouth vnto his place.

4. യാക്കോബ് അവരോടുസഹോദരന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങള് എവിടുത്തുകാര് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഞങ്ങള് ഹാരാന്യര് എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And Iacob saide vnto them: My brethren, whence be ye? And they sayde: of Haran are we.

5. അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് നാഹോരിന്റെ മകനായ ലാബാനെ അറിയുമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഅറിയും എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

5. And he sayde vnto them: Knowe ye Laban the sonne of Nachor? They sayde: we knowe hym.

6. അവന് അവരോടുഅവന് സുഖമായിരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. സുഖം തന്നേ; അവന്റെ മകള് റാഹേല് അതാ ആടുകളോടു കൂടെ വരുന്നു എന്നു അവര് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And he sayde vnto them: is he in good health? And they sayde: he is in good health, and beholde his daughter Rachel commeth with the sheepe.

7. പകല് ഇനിയും വളരെയുണ്ടല്ലോ; കൂട്ടം ഒന്നിച്ചു കൂടുന്ന നേരമായിട്ടില്ല; ആടുകള്ക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി തീറ്റുവിന് എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു

7. And he sayde: loe [it is] yet a great whyle to nyght, neither is it tyme that the cattell should be gathered together: water ye the sheepe, and go and feede [them.]

8. അവര്കൂട്ടങ്ങള് ഒക്കെയും കൂടുവോളം ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വഹിയാ; അവര് കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായ്ക്കല്നിന്നു കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടും; പിന്നെ ഞങ്ങള് ആടുകള്ക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And they sayde: we may not vntyll all the flockes be brought together, and tyl they roule the stone from the welles mouth, and so we water our sheepe.

9. അവന് അവരോടു സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ റാഹേല് തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ ആടുകളോടുകൂടെ വന്നു. അവളായിരുന്നു അവയെ മേയിച്ചുവന്നതു.

9. Whyle he yet talked with them, Rachel came with her fathers sheepe: for she kept them.

10. തന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ മകള് റാഹേലിനെയും അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ ആടുകളെയും കണ്ടപ്പോള് യാക്കോബ് അടുത്തു ചെന്നു കണറ്റിന്റെ വായ്ക്കല്നിന്നു കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടി, അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ ആടുകള്ക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുത്തു.

10. Assoone as Iacob sawe Rachel the daughter of Laban his mothers brother, & the sheepe of Laban his mothers brother, Iacob went & rouled the stone from the welles mouth, & watered the flocke of Laban his mothers brother.

11. യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനെ ചുംബിച്ചു പൊട്ടിക്കരഞ്ഞു.

11. And Iacob kyssed Rachel, and lift vp his voyce and wept.

12. താന് അവളുടെ അപ്പന്റെ സഹോദരന് എന്നും റിബെക്കയുടെ മകനെന്നും യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവള് ഔടിച്ചെന്നു തന്റെ അപ്പനെ അറിയിച്ചു.

12. And Iacob tolde Rachel that he was her fathers brother, and that he was Rebeccaes sonne: Therefore ranne she and tolde her father.

13. ലാബാന് തന്റെ സഹോദരിയുടെ മകനായ യാക്കോബിന്റെ വസ്തുത കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവനെ എതിരേല്പാന് ഔടിച്ചെന്നു അവനെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്തു ചുംബിച്ചു വീട്ടില് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവന് ലാബാനോടു വിവരം ഒക്കെയും പറഞ്ഞു.

13. And when Laban hearde certaynely tell of Iacob his sisters sonne, he ranne to meete hym, and imbraced hym, and kyssed hym, and brought hym to his house: And he tolde Laban all these thynges.

14. ലാബാന് അവനോടുനീ എന്റെ അസ്ഥിയും മാംസവും തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് ഒരു മാസകാലം അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് പാര്ത്തു.

14. To whom Laban sayde: Well, thou art my bone & my fleshe. And he abode with hym the space of a moneth.

15. പിന്നെ ലാബാന് യാക്കോബിനോടുനീ എന്റെ സഹോദരനാകകൊണ്ടു വെറുതെ എന്നെ സേവിക്കേണമോ? നിനക്കു എന്തു പ്രതിഫലം വേണം? എന്നോടു പറക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And Laban said vnto Iacob: Though thou be my brother, shouldest thou therfore serue me for naught? Tell me what shall thy wages be?

16. എന്നാല് ലാബാന്നു രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുമൂത്തവള്ക്കു ലേയാ എന്നും ഇളയവള്ക്കു റാഹേല് എന്നും പേര്.

16. Laban had two daughters, the elder called Lea, and the younger Rachel.

17. ലേയയുടെ കണ്ണു ശോഭ കുറഞ്ഞതായിരുന്നു; റാഹേലോ സുന്ദരിയും മനോഹരരൂപിണിയും ആയിരുന്നു.

17. Lea was tender eyed: but Rachel was beautifull and well fauoured.

18. യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു; നിന്റെ ഇളയമകള് റാഹേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഞാന് ഏഴു സംവത്സരം നിന്നെ സേവിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And Iacob loued Rachel, and sayde: I wyll serue thee seuen yere for Rachel thy younger daughter.

19. അതിന്നു ലാബാന് ഞാന് അവളെ അന്യപുരുഷന്നുകൊടുക്കുന്നതിലും നിനക്കു തരുന്നതു നല്ലതു; എന്നോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. Laban aunswered: It is better that I geue her [vnto] thee, then that I shoulde geue her to another man: abide with me.

20. അങ്ങനെ യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഏഴു സംവത്സരം സേവ ചെയ്തു; അവന് അവളെ സ്നേഹിക്കകൊണ്ടു അതു അവന്നു അല്പകാലം പോലെ തോന്നി.

20. And Iacob serued seuen yere for Rachel: and they seemed vnto hym but a fewe dayes, for the loue he hadde to her.

21. അനന്തരം യാക്കോബ് ലാബാനോടുഎന്റെ സമയം തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് എന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുവാന് അവളെ തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. And Iacob said vnto Laban: geue [me] my wife that I may lye with her, for my dayes are fulfylled.

22. അപ്പോള് ലാബാന് ആ സ്ഥലത്തെ ജനങ്ങളെ എല്ലാം ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി ഒരു വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു.

22. Then Laban gathered together all the men of that place, and made a feast.

23. എന്നാല് രാത്രിയില് അവന് തന്റെ മകള് ലേയയെ കൂട്ടി അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടു പോയി ആക്കി; അവന് അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു.

23. And when euen was come, he toke Lea his daughter, and brought her to hym, and he went in to her.

24. ലാബാന് തന്റെ മകള് ലേയെക്കു തന്റെ ദാസി സില്പയെ ദാസിയായി കൊടുത്തു.

24. And Laban gaue vnto his daughter Lea Zilpha his mayde [to be] her seruaunt.

25. നേരം വെളുത്തപ്പോള് അതു ലേയാ എന്നു കണ്ടു അവന് ലാബാനോടുനീ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തതു എന്തു? റാഹേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി അല്ലയോ ഞാന് നിന്നെ സേവിച്ചതു? നീ എന്തിന്നു എന്നെ ചതിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. And when the mornyng was come, beholde it was Lea. Then sayde he to Laban: Wherefore hast thou played thus with me? dyd not I serue thee for Rachel? wherfore then hast thou begyled me?

26. അതിന്നു ലാബാന് മൂത്തവള്ക്കു മുമ്പെ ഇളയവളെ കൊടുക്ക ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദിക്കില് നടപ്പില്ല.

26. Laban aunswered: It is not the maner of this place, to marry ye younger before the first borne.

27. ഇവളുടെ ആഴ്ചവട്ടം നിവര്ത്തിക്ക; എന്നാല് നീ ഇനിയും ഏഴു സംവത്സരം എന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെയ്യുന്ന സേവേക്കു വേണ്ടി ഞങ്ങള് അവളെയും നിനക്കു തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. Passe out this weeke, & then we wyll geue thee this also for the seruice whiche thou shalt serue me yet seuen yeres more.

28. യാക്കോബ് അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്തു, അവളുടെ ആഴ്ചവട്ടം നിവര്ത്തിച്ചു; അവന് തന്റെ മകള് റാഹേലിനെയും അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു.

28. And Iacob dyd euen so, and passed out the weeke: and then he gaue hym Rachel his daughter to wyfe also.

29. തന്റെ മകള് റാഹേലിന്നു ലാബാന് തന്റെ ദാസി ബില്ഹയെ ദാസിയായി കൊടുത്തു.

29. And Laban gaue to Rachel his daughter Bilha his handmayde, to be her seruaunt.

30. അവന് റാഹേലിന്റെ അടുക്കലും ചെന്നു; റാഹേലിനെ ലേയയെക്കാള് അധികം സ്നേഹിച്ചു; പിന്നെയും ഏഴു സംവത്സരം അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് സേവചെയ്തു.

30. So lay he by Rachel also, and loued Rachel more then Lea, and serued hym yet seuen yeres more.

31. ലേയാ അനിഷ്ടയെന്നു യഹോവ കണ്ടപ്പോള് അവളുടെ ഗര്ഭത്തെ തുറന്നു; റാഹേലോ മച്ചിയായിരുന്നു.

31. When the Lorde sawe that Lea was despised, he made her fruitfull, and Rachel remayned baren.

32. ലേയാ ഗര്ഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചുയഹോവ എന്റെ സങ്കടം കണ്ടു; ഇപ്പോള് എന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവു എന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവള് അവന്നു രൂബേന് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

32. And Lea conceaued and bare a sonne, and she called his name Ruben: for she sayde, the Lord hath loked vpon my tribulation: nowe therfore my husband wyll loue me.

33. അവള് പിന്നെയും ഗര്ഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചുഞാന് അനിഷ ്ടഎന്നു യഹോവ കേട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു ഇവനെയും എനിക്കു തന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ശിമെയോന് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

33. And she conceaued agayne, and bare a sonne, & sayde: The Lorde hath hearde that I am despised, and hath therefore geuen me this [sonne] also: and she called his name Simeon.

34. അവള് പിന്നെയും ഗര്ഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചുഇപ്പോള് ഈ സമയം എന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവു എന്നോടു പറ്റിച്ചേരും; ഞാന് അവന്നു മൂന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെ പ്രസവിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവള് അവന്നു ലേവി എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

34. And she conceaued yet, & bare a sonne, and sayde: Nowe this once wyll my husbande kepe me company, because I haue borne him three sonnes: and therfore was his name called Leui.

35. അവള് പിന്നെയും ഗര്ഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; ഇപ്പോള് ഞാന് യഹോവയെ സ്തുതിക്കും എന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവള് അവന്നു യെഹൂദാ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു. പിന്നെ അവള്ക്കു പ്രസവം നിന്നു.

35. And she conceaued yet agayne, and bare hym a sonne, saying: Nowe wyll I prayse the Lorde. Therefore she called his name Iuda, & left bearyng.
