1. അരാംരാജാവിന്റെ സേനാപതിയായ നയമാന് മുഖാന്തരം യഹോവ അരാമിന്നു ജയം നല്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ യജമാനന് അവനെ മഹാനും മാന്യനും ആയി എണ്ണി; അവന് പരാക്രമശാലി എങ്കിലും കുഷ്ഠരോഗി ആയിരുന്നു.

1. Naaman was the commander of the Syrian army. The LORD had helped him and his troops defeat their enemies, so the king of Syria respected Naaman very much. Naaman was a brave soldier, but he had leprosy.

2. അരാമ്യര് കവര്ച്ചപ്പടയായി വന്നിരുന്നപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല്ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഒരു ചെറിയ പെണ്കുട്ടിയെ പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പോയിരുന്നു; അവള് നയമാന്റെ ഭാര്യെക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുവന്നു.

2. One day while the Syrian troops were raiding Israel, they captured a girl, and she became a servant of Naaman's wife.

3. അവള് തന്റെ യജമാനത്തിയോടുയജമാനന് ശമര്യ്യയിലെ പ്രവാചകന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഒന്നു ചെന്നെങ്കില് അവന് അവന്റെ കുഷ്ഠരോഗം മാറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കുമായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. Some time later the girl said, 'If your husband Naaman would go to the prophet in Samaria, he would be cured of his leprosy.'

4. അവന് ചെന്നു തന്റെ യജമാനനോടുയിസ്രായേല്ദേശക്കാരത്തിയായ പെണ്കുട്ടി ഇന്നിന്നപ്രകാരം സംസാരിച്ചു എന്നു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

4. When Naaman told the king what the girl had said,

5. നീ പോയി വരിക; ഞാന് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിന്നു ഒരു എഴുത്തു തരാം എന്നു അരാംരാജാവു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവന് പത്തു താലന്തു വെള്ളിയും ആറായിരം ശേക്കെല് പൊന്നും പത്തു കൂട്ടം വസ്ത്രവും എടുത്തു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

5. the king replied, 'Go ahead! I will give you a letter to take to the king of Israel.' Naaman left and took along seven hundred fifty pounds of silver, one hundred fifty pounds of gold, and ten new outfits.

6. അവന് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് എഴുത്തുംകൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു; അതില്ഈ എഴുത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന എന്റെ ഭൃത്യന് നയമാന്റെ കുഷ്ഠരോഗം നീ മാറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് അവനെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.

6. He also carried the letter to the king of Israel. It said, 'I am sending my servant Naaman to you. Would you cure him of his leprosy?'

7. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു എഴുത്തു വായിച്ചപ്പോള് വസ്ത്രം കീറിഅവന് ഇതാ, കുഷ്ഠരോഗം മാറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒരാളെ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു! മരിപ്പിക്കയും ജീവിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്വാന് ഞാന് ദൈവമോ? നോക്കുവിന് , അവന് ഇതിനാല് എന്നോടു ശണ്ഠെക്കു കാരണം അന്വേഷിക്കയല്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes in fear and shouted, 'That Syrian king believes I can cure this man of leprosy! Does he think I'm God with power over life and death? He must be trying to pick a fight with me.'

8. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു വസ്ത്രം കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞു എന്നു ദൈവപുരുഷനായ എലീശാ കേട്ടപ്പോള് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചുനീ വസ്ത്രം കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞതു എന്തു? അവന് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരട്ടെ; എന്നാല് യിസ്രായേലില് ഒരു പ്രവാചകന് ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവന് അറിയും എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

8. As soon as Elisha the prophet heard what had happened, he sent the Israelite king this message: 'Why are you so afraid? Send the man to me, so that he will know there is a prophet in Israel.'

9. അങ്ങനെ നയമാന് രഥത്തോടും കുതിരകളോടുംകൂടെ എലീശയുടെ വീട്ടുവാതില്ക്കല് വന്നു നിന്നു.

9. Naaman left with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha's house.

10. എലീശാ ആളയച്ചുനീ ചെന്നു യോര്ദ്ദാനില് ഏഴു പ്രാവശ്യം കുളിക്ക; അപ്പോള് നിന്റെ ദേഹം മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെയായി നീ ശുദ്ധനാകും എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

10. Elisha sent someone outside to say to him, 'Go wash seven times in the Jordan River. Then you'll be completely cured.'

11. അപ്പോള് നയമാന് ഏറ്റവും ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചു പുറപ്പെട്ടുഅവന് തന്നേ പുറത്തുവന്നു അടുത്തുനിന്നു തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തെ വിളിച്ചു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു തന്റെ കൈ ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്മീതെ ആട്ടി ഇങ്ങനെ കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് വിചാരിച്ചു.

11. But Naaman stormed off, grumbling, 'Why couldn't he come out and talk to me? I thought for sure he would stand in front of me and pray to the LORD his God, then wave his hand over my skin and cure me.

12. ദമ്മേശെക്കിലെ നദികളായ അബാനയും പര്പ്പരും യിസ്രായേല്ദേശത്തിലെ എല്ലാ വെള്ളങ്ങളെക്കാളും നല്ലതല്ലയോ? എനിക്കു അവയില് കുളിച്ചു ശുദ്ധനാകരുതോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന് ക്രോധത്തോടെ പോയി.

12. What about the Abana River or the Pharpar River? Those rivers in Damascus are just as good as any river in Israel. I could have washed in them and been cured.'

13. എന്നാല് അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര് അടുത്തു വന്നു അവനോടുപിതാവേ, പ്രവാചകന് വലിയോരു കാര്യം നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നുവെങ്കില് നീ ചെയ്യാതെ ഇരിക്കുമോ? പിന്നെ അവന് കുളിച്ചു ശുദ്ധനാക എന്നു നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചാല് എത്ര അധികം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. His servants went over to him and said, 'Sir, if the prophet had told you to do something difficult, you would have done it. So why don't you do what he said? Go wash and be cured.'

14. അപ്പോള് അവന് ചെന്നു ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ വചനപ്രകാരം യോര്ദ്ദാനില് ഏഴു പ്രാവശ്യം മുങ്ങി; അവന്റെ ദേഹം ചെറിയ ബാലന്റെ ദേഹം പോലെ ആയി; അവന് ശുദ്ധനായ്തീര്ന്നു.

14. Naaman walked down to the Jordan; he waded out into the water and stooped down in it seven times, just as Elisha had told him. Right away, he was cured, and his skin became as smooth as a child's.

15. പിന്നെ അവന് തന്റെ സകലപരിവാരവുമായി ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങി വന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നു; യിസ്രായേലില് അല്ലാതെ ഭൂമിയില് എങ്ങും ഒരു ദൈവം ഇല്ല എന്നു ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് അറിയുന്നു; ആകയാല് അടിയന്റെ കയ്യില് നിന്നു ഒരു പ്രതിഗ്രഹം കൈക്കൊള്ളേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. Naaman and his officials went back to Elisha. Naaman stood in front of him and announced, 'Now I know that the God of Israel is the only God in the whole world. Sir, would you please accept a gift from me?'

16. അതിന്നു അവന് ഞാന് സേവിച്ചുനിലക്കുന്ന യഹോവയാണ, ഞാന് ഒന്നും കൈക്കൊള്ളുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. കൈക്കൊള്വാന് അവനെ നിര്ബ്ബന്ധിച്ചിട്ടും അവന് വാങ്ങിയില്ല.

16. I am a servant of the living LORD,' Elisha answered, 'and I swear that I will not take anything from you.' Naaman kept begging, but Elisha kept refusing.

17. അപ്പോള് നയമാന് എന്നാല് രണ്ടു കോവര്ക്കഴുതച്ചുമടു മണ്ണു അടിയന്നു തരുവിക്കേണമേ; അടിയന് ഇനി യഹോവെക്കല്ലാതെ അന്യദൈവങ്ങള്ക്കു ഹോമയാഗവും ഹനനയാഗവും കഴിക്കയില്ല.

17. Finally Naaman said, 'If you won't accept a gift, then please let me take home as much soil as two mules can pull in a wagon. Sir, from now on I will offer sacrifices only to the LORD.

18. ഒരു കാര്യത്തില് മാത്രം യഹോവ അടിയനോടു ക്ഷമിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെഎന്റെ യജമാനന് നമസ്കരിപ്പാന് രിമ്മോന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില് ചെന്നു എന്റെ കൈത്താങ്ങലോടെ കുമ്പിടുമ്പോള് ഞാനും രിമ്മോന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില് നമസ്കരിച്ചുപോകുന്ന ഈ കാര്യത്തില് യഹോവ അടിയനോടു ക്ഷമിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.

18. But I pray that the LORD will forgive me when I go into the temple of the god Rimmon and bow down there with the king of Syria.'

19. അവന് അവനോടുസമാധാനത്തോടെ പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. Go on home, and don't worry about that,' Elisha replied. Then Naaman left. After Naaman had gone only a short distance,

20. അവന് അവനെ വിട്ടു കുറെ ദൂരം പോയശേഷം ദൈവപുരുഷനായ എലീശയുടെ ബാല്യക്കാരന് ഗേഹസിഅരാമ്യന് നയമാന് കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു എന്റെ യജമാനന് അവന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വാങ്ങാതെ വിട്ടുകളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; യഹോവയാണ, ഞാന് അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഔടിച്ചെന്നു അവനോടു അല്പമെങ്കിലും വാങ്ങുമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. Gehazi said to himself, 'Elisha let that Syrian off too easy. He should have taken Naaman's gift. I swear by the living LORD that I will talk to Naaman myself and get something from him.'

21. അങ്ങനെ അവന് നയമാനെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നു. അവന് തന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഔടിവരുന്നതു നയമാന് കണ്ടപ്പോള് രഥത്തില്നിന്നിറങ്ങി അവനെ എതിരേറ്റുസുഖം തന്നെയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

21. So he hurried after Naaman. When Naaman saw Gehazi running after him, he got out of his chariot to meet him. Naaman asked, 'Is everything all right?'

22. അതിന്നു അവന് സുഖം തന്നേ; ഇപ്പോള് തന്നേ പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാരില് രണ്ടു യൌവനക്കാര് എഫ്ര്യയീംമലനാട്ടില്നിന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും ഒരു താലന്തു വെള്ളിയും രണ്ടു കൂട്ടം വസ്ത്രവും തരേണമേ എന്നു പറവാന് എന്റെ യജമാനന് എന്നെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. Yes,' Gehazi answered. 'But my master has sent me to tell you about two young prophets from the hills of Ephraim. They came asking for help, and now Elisha wants to know if you would give them about seventy-five pounds of silver and some new clothes?'

23. ദയ ചെയ്തു രണ്ടു താലന്തു വാങ്ങേണമേ എന്നു നയമാന് പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവനെ നിര്ബ്ബന്ധിച്ചു രണ്ടു സഞ്ചിയില് രണ്ടു താലന്തു വെള്ളിയും രണ്ടു കൂട്ടം വസ്ത്രവും കെട്ടി തന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരില് രണ്ടുപേരുടെ പക്കല് കൊടുത്തു; അവര് അതു ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് നടന്നു.

23. Sure,' Naaman replied. 'But why don't you take twice that amount of silver?' He convinced Gehazi to take it all, then put the silver in two bags. He handed the bags and the clothes to his two servants, and they carried them for Gehazi.

24. കുന്നിന്നരികെ എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവന് അതു അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വാങ്ങി വീട്ടില് സൂക്ഷിച്ചു വെച്ചിട്ടു ബാല്യക്കാരെ അയച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അവര് പോകയും ചെയ്തു.

24. When they reached the hill where Gehazi lived, he took the bags from the servants and placed them in his house, then sent the men away. After they had gone,

25. പിന്നെ അവന് അകത്തു കടന്നു യജമാനന്റെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു. എന്നാറെ എലീശാ അവനോടുഗേഹസിയേ, നീ എവിടെ പോയിരുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അടിയന് എങ്ങും പോയില്ല എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

25. Gehazi went in and stood in front of Elisha, who asked, 'Gehazi, where have you been?' 'Nowhere, sir,' Gehazi answered.

26. അതിന്നു അവന് ആ പുരുഷന് രഥത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി നിന്നെ എതിരേറ്റപ്പോള് എന്റെ ഹൃദയം നിന്നോടു കൂടെ പോന്നിരുന്നില്ലയോ? ദ്രവ്യം സമ്പാദിപ്പാനും വസ്ത്രം, ഒലിവുതോട്ടം, മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം, ആടുമാടുകള്, ദാസീദാസന്മാര് എന്നീവകമേടിപ്പാനും ഇതാകുന്നുവോ സമയം?

26. Elisha asked, 'Don't you know that my spirit was there when Naaman got out of his chariot to talk with you? Gehazi, you have no right to accept money or clothes, olive orchards or vineyards, sheep or cattle, or servants.

27. ആകയാല് നയമാന്റെ കുഷ്ഠം നിനക്കും നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും എന്നേക്കും പിടിച്ചിരിക്കും എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് ഹിമംപോലെ വെളുത്തു കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയായി അവനെ വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി.

27. Because of what you've done, Naaman's leprosy will now be on you and your descendants forever!' Suddenly, Gehazi's skin became white with leprosy, and he left.
