1. മഹാനക്രത്തെ ചൂണ്ടലിട്ടു പിടിക്കാമോ? അതിന്റെ നാകൂ കയറുകൊണ്ടു അമര്ത്താമോ?

1. 'Can you pull the crocodile out with a fish-hook? Can you tie his tongue down with a rope?

2. അതിന്റെ മൂക്കില് കയറു കോര്ക്കാമോ? അതിന്റെ അണയില് കൊളുത്തു കടത്താമോ?

2. Can you put a rope in his nose, or put a hook through his jaw?

3. അതു നിന്നോടു ഏറിയ യാചന കഴിക്കുമോ? സാവധാനവാക്കു നിന്നോടു പറയുമോ?

3. Will he beg you to be good to him? Will he speak soft words to you?

4. അതിനെ എന്നും ദാസനാക്കിക്കൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു നിന്നോടു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്യുമോ?

4. Will he make an agreement with you to take him and make him your servant forever?

5. പക്ഷിയോടു എന്നപോലെ നീ അതിനോടു കളിക്കുമോ? അതിനെ പിടിച്ചു നിന്റെ ബാലമാര്ക്കായി കെട്ടിയിടുമോ?

5. Will you play with him as if he were a bird? Or will you put him on a rope for your young women?

6. മീന് പിടിക്കൂറ്റുകാര് അതിനെക്കൊണ്ടു വ്യാപാരം ചെയ്യുമോ? അതിനെ കച്ചവടക്കാര്ക്കും പകുത്തു വിലക്കുമോ?

6. Will traders talk about buying and selling him? Will they divide him among the storekeepers?

7. നിനക്കു അതിന്റെ തോലില് നിറെച്ചു അസ്ത്രവും തലയില് നിറെച്ചു ചാട്ടുളിയും തറെക്കാമോ?

7. Can you fill his skin or his head with fish spears?

8. അതിനെ ഒന്നു തൊടുക; പോര് തിട്ടം എന്നു ഔര്ത്തുകൊള്ക; പിന്നെ നീ അതിന്നു തുനികയില്ല.

8. Lay your hand on him, and remember the battle. You will not do it again!

9. അവന്റെ ആശെക്കു ഭംഗംവരുന്നു; അതിനെ കാണുമ്പോള് തന്നേ അവന് വീണു പോകുമല്ലോ.

9. See, the hope of man is false. One is laid low even when seeing him.

10. അതിനെ ഇളക്കുവാന് തക്ക ശൂരനില്ല; പിന്നെ എന്നോടു എതിര്ത്തുനിലക്കുന്നവന് ആര്?

10. No one is so powerful that he would wake him. Who then can stand before Me?

11. ഞാന് മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എനിക്കു മുമ്പു കൂട്ടി തന്നതാര്? ആകാശത്തിന് കീഴെയുള്ളതൊക്കെയും എന്റെതല്ലയോ?

11. Who has given Me everything, that I should pay him back? Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine.

12. അതിന്റെ അവയവങ്ങളെയും മഹാശക്തിയെയും അതിന്റെ ചേലൊത്ത രൂപത്തെയുംപറ്റി ഞാന് മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കയില്ല.

12. 'I will not keep quiet about his legs, or his powerful strength, or the good way he is made.

13. അതിന്റെ പുറങ്കുപ്പായം ഊരാകുന്നവനാര്? അതിന്റെ ഇരട്ടനിരപ്പല്ലിന്നിടയില് ആര് ചെല്ലും?

13. Who can take off his outside clothing? Who can get through his hard skin?

14. അതിന്റെ മുഖത്തെ കതകു ആര് തുറക്കും? അതിന്റെ പല്ലിന്നു ചുറ്റും ഭീഷണം ഉണ്ടു.

14. Who can open the doors of his mouth? Around his teeth is much fear.

15. ചെതുമ്പല്നിര അതിന്റെ ഡംഭമാകുന്നു; അതു മുദ്രവെച്ചു മുറുക്കി അടെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

15. His hard covering is his pride. He is shut up as with a lock.

16. അതു ഒന്നോടൊന്നു പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇടയില് കാറ്റുകടക്കയില്ല.

16. One piece of his hard skin is so close to another that no air can come between them.

17. ഒന്നോടൊന്നു ചേര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; വേര്പ്പെടുത്തിക്കൂടാതവണ്ണം തമ്മില് പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. They are joined one to another. They hold on to each other and cannot be separated.

18. അതു തുമ്മുമ്പോള് വെളിച്ചം മിന്നുന്നു; അതിന്റെ കണ്ണു ഉഷസ്സിന്റെ കണ്ണിമപോലെ ആകുന്നു.

18. His breath gives out light. And his eyes are like those of the first light of day.

19. അതിന്റെ വായില്നിന്നു തീപ്പന്തങ്ങള് പുറപ്പെടുകയും തീപ്പൊരികള് തെറിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

19. Burning light goes out of his mouth. Fire comes out.

20. തിളെക്കുന്ന കലത്തില്നിന്നും കത്തുന്ന പോട്ടപ്പുല്ലില്നിന്നും എന്നപോലെ അതിന്റെ മൂക്കില്നിന്നു പുക പുറപ്പെടുന്നു.

20. Smoke goes out of his nostrils, as from a boiling pot and burning grass.

21. അതിന്റെ ശ്വാസം കനല് ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ വായില്നിന്നു ജ്വാല പുറപ്പെടുന്നു.

21. His breath sets fire to coals. A fire goes out of his mouth.

22. അതിന്റെ കഴുത്തില് ബലം വസിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിരാശ നൃത്തം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

22. Strength is in his neck, and fear jumps in front of him.

23. അതിന്റെ മാംസദശകള് തമ്മില് പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവ ഇളകിപ്പോകാതവണ്ണം അതിന്മേല് ഉറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

23. The folds of his flesh are joined together. They are set in place and cannot be moved.

24. അതിന്റെ ഹൃദയം കല്ലുപോലെ ഉറപ്പുള്ളതു തിരികല്ലിന്റെ അടിക്കല്ലുപോലെ ഉറപ്പുള്ളതു തന്നേ.

24. His heart is as hard as a stone, even as hard as a grinding-stone.

25. അതു പൊങ്ങുമ്പോള് ബലശാലികള് പേടിക്കുന്നു; ഭയം ഹേതുവായിട്ടു അവര് പരവശരായ്തീരുന്നു.

25. When he raises himself up, the powerful are afraid. They are troubled because of his noise.

26. വാള്കൊണ്ടു അതിനെ എതിര്ക്കുംന്നതു അസാദ്ധ്യം; കുന്തം, അസ്ത്രം, വേല് എന്നിവകൊണ്ടും ആവതില്ല

26. The sword that hits him cannot cut. And spears are of no use.

27. ഇരിമ്പിനെ അതു വൈക്കോല്പോലെയും താമ്രത്തെ ദ്രവിച്ച മരംപോലെയും വിചാരിക്കുന്നു.

27. He thinks of iron as straw, and brass as soft wood.

28. അസ്ത്രം അതിനെ ഔടിക്കയില്ല; കവിണക്കല്ലു അതിന്നു താളടിയായിരിക്കുന്നു.

28. The arrow cannot make him run away. Stones thrown at him are like dry grass to him.

29. ഗദ അതിന്നു താളടിപോലെ തോന്നുന്നു; വേല് ചാടുന്ന ഒച്ച കേട്ടിട്ടു അതു ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

29. He thinks of heavy sticks as dry grass. He laughs at the noise of the spear.

30. അതിന്റെ അധോഭാഗം മൂര്ച്ചയുള്ള ഔട്ടുകഷണംപോലെയാകുന്നു; അതു ചെളിമേല് പല്ലിത്തടിപോലെ വലിയുന്നു.

30. The parts under him are like sharp pieces of a pot. He spreads out like a grain crusher on the mud.

31. കലത്തെപ്പോലെ അതു ആഴിയെ തിളെപ്പിക്കുന്നു; സമുദ്രത്തെ അതു തൈലംപോലെയാക്കിത്തീര്ക്കുംന്നു.

31. He makes the sea boil like a pot. He makes the sea like a jar of oil.

32. അതിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഒരു പാത മിന്നുന്നു; ആഴി നരെച്ചതുപോലെ തോന്നുന്നു.

32. He makes his way shine behind him. One would think that the sea has white hair.

33. ഭൂമിയില് അതിന്നു തുല്യമായിട്ടൊന്നും ഇല്ല; അതിനെ ഭയമില്ലാത്തതായി ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

33. Nothing on earth is like him, one made without fear.

34. അതു ഉന്നതമായുള്ളതിനെയൊക്കെയും നോക്കിക്കാണുന്നു; മദിച്ച ജന്തുക്കള്ക്കെല്ലാം അതു രാജാവായിരിക്കുന്നു.

34. He looks on everything that is high. He is king over all that are proud.'
