1. മഹാനക്രത്തെ ചൂണ്ടലിട്ടു പിടിക്കാമോ? അതിന്റെ നാകൂ കയറുകൊണ്ടു അമര്ത്താമോ?

1. Wilt thou draw out the leviathan with the hook, and press down his tongue with a cord?

2. അതിന്റെ മൂക്കില് കയറു കോര്ക്കാമോ? അതിന്റെ അണയില് കൊളുത്തു കടത്താമോ?

2. Wilt thou put a rush-rope into his nose, and pierce his jaw with a spike?

3. അതു നിന്നോടു ഏറിയ യാചന കഴിക്കുമോ? സാവധാനവാക്കു നിന്നോടു പറയുമോ?

3. Will he make many supplications unto thee? or will he speak softly unto thee?

4. അതിനെ എന്നും ദാസനാക്കിക്കൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു നിന്നോടു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്യുമോ?

4. Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him as a bondman for ever?

5. പക്ഷിയോടു എന്നപോലെ നീ അതിനോടു കളിക്കുമോ? അതിനെ പിടിച്ചു നിന്റെ ബാലമാര്ക്കായി കെട്ടിയിടുമോ?

5. Wilt thou play with him as with a bird, and wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?

6. മീന് പിടിക്കൂറ്റുകാര് അതിനെക്കൊണ്ടു വ്യാപാരം ചെയ്യുമോ? അതിനെ കച്ചവടക്കാര്ക്കും പകുത്തു വിലക്കുമോ?

6. Shall partners make traffic of him, will they divide him among merchants?

7. നിനക്കു അതിന്റെ തോലില് നിറെച്ചു അസ്ത്രവും തലയില് നിറെച്ചു ചാട്ടുളിയും തറെക്കാമോ?

7. Wilt thou fill his skin with darts, and his head with fish-spears?

8. അതിനെ ഒന്നു തൊടുക; പോര് തിട്ടം എന്നു ഔര്ത്തുകൊള്ക; പിന്നെ നീ അതിന്നു തുനികയില്ല.

8. Lay thy hand upon him; remember the battle, -- do no more!

9. അവന്റെ ആശെക്കു ഭംഗംവരുന്നു; അതിനെ കാണുമ്പോള് തന്നേ അവന് വീണു പോകുമല്ലോ.

9. Lo, hope as to him is belied: is not one cast down even at the sight of him?

10. അതിനെ ഇളക്കുവാന് തക്ക ശൂരനില്ല; പിന്നെ എന്നോടു എതിര്ത്തുനിലക്കുന്നവന് ആര്?

10. None is so bold as to stir him up; and who is he that will stand before me?

11. ഞാന് മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എനിക്കു മുമ്പു കൂട്ടി തന്നതാര്? ആകാശത്തിന് കീഴെയുള്ളതൊക്കെയും എന്റെതല്ലയോ?

11. Who hath first given to me, that I should repay [him]? [Whatsoever is] under the whole heaven is mine.

12. അതിന്റെ അവയവങ്ങളെയും മഹാശക്തിയെയും അതിന്റെ ചേലൊത്ത രൂപത്തെയുംപറ്റി ഞാന് മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കയില്ല.

12. I will not be silent as to his parts, the story of his power, and the beauty of his structure.

13. അതിന്റെ പുറങ്കുപ്പായം ഊരാകുന്നവനാര്? അതിന്റെ ഇരട്ടനിരപ്പല്ലിന്നിടയില് ആര് ചെല്ലും?

13. Who can uncover the surface of his garment? who can come within his double jaws?

14. അതിന്റെ മുഖത്തെ കതകു ആര് തുറക്കും? അതിന്റെ പല്ലിന്നു ചുറ്റും ഭീഷണം ഉണ്ടു.

14. Who can open the doors of his face? Round about his teeth is terror.

15. ചെതുമ്പല്നിര അതിന്റെ ഡംഭമാകുന്നു; അതു മുദ്രവെച്ചു മുറുക്കി അടെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

15. The rows of his shields are a pride, shut up together [as with] a close seal.

16. അതു ഒന്നോടൊന്നു പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇടയില് കാറ്റുകടക്കയില്ല.

16. One is so near to another that no air can come between them;

17. ഒന്നോടൊന്നു ചേര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; വേര്പ്പെടുത്തിക്കൂടാതവണ്ണം തമ്മില് പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. They are joined each to its fellow; they stick together, and cannot be sundered.

18. അതു തുമ്മുമ്പോള് വെളിച്ചം മിന്നുന്നു; അതിന്റെ കണ്ണു ഉഷസ്സിന്റെ കണ്ണിമപോലെ ആകുന്നു.

18. His sneezings flash light, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.

19. അതിന്റെ വായില്നിന്നു തീപ്പന്തങ്ങള് പുറപ്പെടുകയും തീപ്പൊരികള് തെറിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

19. Out of his mouth go forth flames; sparks of fire leap out:

20. തിളെക്കുന്ന കലത്തില്നിന്നും കത്തുന്ന പോട്ടപ്പുല്ലില്നിന്നും എന്നപോലെ അതിന്റെ മൂക്കില്നിന്നു പുക പുറപ്പെടുന്നു.

20. Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a boiling pot and cauldron.

21. അതിന്റെ ശ്വാസം കനല് ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ വായില്നിന്നു ജ്വാല പുറപ്പെടുന്നു.

21. His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.

22. അതിന്റെ കഴുത്തില് ബലം വസിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിരാശ നൃത്തം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

22. In his neck lodgeth strength, and terror danceth before him.

23. അതിന്റെ മാംസദശകള് തമ്മില് പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവ ഇളകിപ്പോകാതവണ്ണം അതിന്മേല് ഉറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

23. The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are fused upon him, they cannot be moved.

24. അതിന്റെ ഹൃദയം കല്ലുപോലെ ഉറപ്പുള്ളതു തിരികല്ലിന്റെ അടിക്കല്ലുപോലെ ഉറപ്പുള്ളതു തന്നേ.

24. His heart is firm as a stone, yea, firm as the nether [millstone].

25. അതു പൊങ്ങുമ്പോള് ബലശാലികള് പേടിക്കുന്നു; ഭയം ഹേതുവായിട്ടു അവര് പരവശരായ്തീരുന്നു.

25. When he raiseth himself up, the mighty are afraid: they are beside themselves with consternation.

26. വാള്കൊണ്ടു അതിനെ എതിര്ക്കുംന്നതു അസാദ്ധ്യം; കുന്തം, അസ്ത്രം, വേല് എന്നിവകൊണ്ടും ആവതില്ല

26. If any reach him with a sword, it cannot hold; neither spear, nor dart, nor harpoon.

27. ഇരിമ്പിനെ അതു വൈക്കോല്പോലെയും താമ്രത്തെ ദ്രവിച്ച മരംപോലെയും വിചാരിക്കുന്നു.

27. He esteemeth iron as straw, bronze as rotten wood.

28. അസ്ത്രം അതിനെ ഔടിക്കയില്ല; കവിണക്കല്ലു അതിന്നു താളടിയായിരിക്കുന്നു.

28. The arrow will not make him flee; slingstones are turned with him into stubble.

29. ഗദ അതിന്നു താളടിപോലെ തോന്നുന്നു; വേല് ചാടുന്ന ഒച്ച കേട്ടിട്ടു അതു ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

29. Clubs are counted as stubble; he laugheth at the shaking of a javelin.

30. അതിന്റെ അധോഭാഗം മൂര്ച്ചയുള്ള ഔട്ടുകഷണംപോലെയാകുന്നു; അതു ചെളിമേല് പല്ലിത്തടിപോലെ വലിയുന്നു.

30. His under parts are sharp potsherds: he spreadeth a threshing-sledge upon the mire.

31. കലത്തെപ്പോലെ അതു ആഴിയെ തിളെപ്പിക്കുന്നു; സമുദ്രത്തെ അതു തൈലംപോലെയാക്കിത്തീര്ക്കുംന്നു.

31. He maketh the deep to boil like a pot; he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment;

32. അതിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഒരു പാത മിന്നുന്നു; ആഴി നരെച്ചതുപോലെ തോന്നുന്നു.

32. He maketh the path to shine after him: one would think the deep to be hoary.

33. ഭൂമിയില് അതിന്നു തുല്യമായിട്ടൊന്നും ഇല്ല; അതിനെ ഭയമില്ലാത്തതായി ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

33. Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.

34. അതു ഉന്നതമായുള്ളതിനെയൊക്കെയും നോക്കിക്കാണുന്നു; മദിച്ച ജന്തുക്കള്ക്കെല്ലാം അതു രാജാവായിരിക്കുന്നു.

34. He beholdeth all high things; he is king over all the proud beasts.
