1. മകനേ, ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നു ചെവികൊടുക്കയും ബോധത്തിന്നു നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ചായിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു

1. My sonne, if thou wilt receiue my wordes, and hide my commandements within thee,

2. എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ നിന്റെ ഉള്ളില് സംഗ്രഹിച്ചാല്,

2. And cause thine eares to hearken vnto wisdome, and encline thine heart to vnderstanding,

3. നീ ബോധത്തിന്നായി വിളിച്ചു വിവേകത്തിന്നായി ശബ്ദം ഉയര്ത്തുന്നു എങ്കില്,

3. (For if thou callest after knowledge, and cryest for vnderstanding:

4. അതിനെ വെള്ളിയെപ്പോലെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു നിക്ഷേപങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ തിരയുന്നു എങ്കില്,

4. If thou seekest her as siluer, and searchest for her as for treasures,

5. നീ യഹോവാഭക്തി ഗ്രഹിക്കയും ദൈവപരിജ്ഞാനം കണ്ടെത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും.

5. Then shalt thou vnderstand the feare of the Lord, and finde the knowledge of God.

6. യഹോവയല്ലോ ജ്ഞാനം നലകുന്നതു; അവന്റെ വായില്നിന്നു പരിജ്ഞാനവും വിവേകവും വരുന്നു.

6. For the Lord giueth wisdome, out of his mouth commeth knowledge and vnderstanding.

7. അവന് നേരുള്ളവര്ക്കും രക്ഷ സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുവെക്കുന്നുനഷ്കളങ്കമായി നടക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും അവന് ഒരു പരിച തന്നേ.

7. He preserueth the state of the righteous: he is a shielde to them that walke vprightly,

8. അവന് ന്യായത്തിന്റെ പാതകളെ കാക്കുന്നു; തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധന്മാരുടെ വഴിയെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

8. That they may keepe the wayes of iudgement: and he preserueth the way of his Saintes)

9. അങ്ങനെ നീ നീതിയും ന്യായവും നേരും സകലസന്മാര്ഗ്ഗവും ഗ്രഹിക്കും.

9. Then shalt thou vnderstand righteousnes, and iudgement, and equitie, and euery good path.

10. ജ്ഞാനം നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില് പ്രവേശിക്കും; പരിജ്ഞാനം നിന്റെ മനസ്സിന്നു ഇമ്പമായിരിക്കും.

10. When wisdome entreth into thine heart, and knowledge deliteth thy soule,

11. വകതിരിവു നിന്നെ കാക്കും; വിവേകം നിന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കും.

11. Then shall counsell preserue thee, and vnderstanding shall keepe thee,

12. അതു നിന്നെ ദുഷ്ടന്റെ വഴിയില്നിന്നും വികടം പറയുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില്നിന്നും വിടുവിക്കും.

12. And deliuer thee from the euill way, and from the man that speaketh froward things,

13. അവര് ഇരുട്ടുള്ള വഴികളില് നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നേരെയുള്ള പാത വിട്ടുകളകയും

13. And from them that leaue the wayes of righteousnes to walke in the wayes of darkenes:

14. ദോഷപ്രവൃത്തിയില് സന്തോഷിക്കയും ദുഷ്ടന്റെ വികടങ്ങളില് ആനന്ദിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

14. Which reioyce in doing euill, and delite in the frowardnesse of the wicked,

15. അവര് വളഞ്ഞവഴിക്കു പോകുന്നവരും ചൊവ്വല്ലാത്ത പാതയില് നടക്കുന്നവരും ആകുന്നു.

15. Whose wayes are crooked and they are lewde in their paths.

16. അതു നിന്നെ പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും ചക്കരവാക്കു പറയുന്ന അന്യസ്ത്രീയുടെ വശത്തുനിന്നും വിടുവിക്കും.

16. And it shall deliuer thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger, which flattereth with her wordes.

17. അവള് തന്റെ യൌവനകാന്തനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിയമം മറന്നുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the couenant of her God.

18. അവളുടെ വീടു മരണത്തിലേക്കും അവളുടെ പാതകള് പ്രേതന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കും ചാഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. Surely her house tendeth to death, and her paths vnto the dead.

19. അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുന്ന ഒരുത്തനും മടങ്ങിവരുന്നില്ല; ജീവന്റെ പാതകളെ പ്രാപിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

19. All they that goe vnto her, returne not againe, neither take they holde of the wayes of life.

20. അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ സജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ വഴിയില് നടന്നു നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുകൊള്ക.

20. Therefore walke thou in the way of good men, and keepe the wayes of the righteous.

21. നേരുള്ളവര് ദേശത്തു വസിക്കും; നിഷ്കളങ്കന്മാര് അതില് ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കും.

21. For the iust shall dwell in the land, and the vpright men shall remaine in it.

22. എന്നാല് ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടും; ദ്രോഹികള് അതില്നിന്നു നിര്മ്മൂലമാകും.

22. But the wicked shalbe cut off from ye earth, and the transgressours shalbe rooted out of it.
