1. മകനേ, ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നു ചെവികൊടുക്കയും ബോധത്തിന്നു നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ചായിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു

1. My son, if you will receive my words, and hide my commandments with you;

2. എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ നിന്റെ ഉള്ളില് സംഗ്രഹിച്ചാല്,

2. So that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding;

3. Yes, if you cry after knowledge, and lift up your voice for understanding;

4. അതിനെ വെള്ളിയെപ്പോലെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു നിക്ഷേപങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ തിരയുന്നു എങ്കില്,

4. If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hid treasures;

5. നീ യഹോവാഭക്തി ഗ്രഹിക്കയും ദൈവപരിജ്ഞാനം കണ്ടെത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും.

5. Then shall you understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

6. യഹോവയല്ലോ ജ്ഞാനം നലകുന്നതു; അവന്റെ വായില്നിന്നു പരിജ്ഞാനവും വിവേകവും വരുന്നു.

6. For the LORD gives wisdom: out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

7. അവന് നേരുള്ളവര്ക്കും രക്ഷ സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുവെക്കുന്നുനഷ്കളങ്കമായി നടക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും അവന് ഒരു പരിച തന്നേ.

7. He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

8. അവന് ന്യായത്തിന്റെ പാതകളെ കാക്കുന്നു; തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധന്മാരുടെ വഴിയെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

8. He keeps the paths of judgment, and preserves the way of his saints.

9. അങ്ങനെ നീ നീതിയും ന്യായവും നേരും സകലസന്മാര്ഗ്ഗവും ഗ്രഹിക്കും.

9. Then shall you understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yes, every good path.

10. ജ്ഞാനം നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില് പ്രവേശിക്കും; പരിജ്ഞാനം നിന്റെ മനസ്സിന്നു ഇമ്പമായിരിക്കും.

10. When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul;

11. വകതിരിവു നിന്നെ കാക്കും; വിവേകം നിന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കും.

11. Discretion shall preserve you, understanding shall keep you:

12. അതു നിന്നെ ദുഷ്ടന്റെ വഴിയില്നിന്നും വികടം പറയുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില്നിന്നും വിടുവിക്കും.

12. To deliver you from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaks fraudulent things;

13. അവര് ഇരുട്ടുള്ള വഴികളില് നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നേരെയുള്ള പാത വിട്ടുകളകയും

13. Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

14. ദോഷപ്രവൃത്തിയില് സന്തോഷിക്കയും ദുഷ്ടന്റെ വികടങ്ങളില് ആനന്ദിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

14. Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

15. അവര് വളഞ്ഞവഴിക്കു പോകുന്നവരും ചൊവ്വല്ലാത്ത പാതയില് നടക്കുന്നവരും ആകുന്നു.

15. Whose ways are crooked, and they fraudulent in their paths:

16. അതു നിന്നെ പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും ചക്കരവാക്കു പറയുന്ന അന്യസ്ത്രീയുടെ വശത്തുനിന്നും വിടുവിക്കും.

16. To deliver you from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flatters with her words;

17. അവള് തന്റെ യൌവനകാന്തനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിയമം മറന്നുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. Which forsakes the guide of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God.

18. അവളുടെ വീടു മരണത്തിലേക്കും അവളുടെ പാതകള് പ്രേതന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കും ചാഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. For her house inclines to death, and her paths to the dead.

19. അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുന്ന ഒരുത്തനും മടങ്ങിവരുന്നില്ല; ജീവന്റെ പാതകളെ പ്രാപിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

19. None that go to her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

20. അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ സജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ വഴിയില് നടന്നു നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുകൊള്ക.

20. That you may walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

21. നേരുള്ളവര് ദേശത്തു വസിക്കും; നിഷ്കളങ്കന്മാര് അതില് ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കും.

21. For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

22. എന്നാല് ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടും; ദ്രോഹികള് അതില്നിന്നു നിര്മ്മൂലമാകും.

22. But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
