1. ബെന്യാമീന് മക്കളേ, യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നടുവില്നിന്നു ഔടിപ്പോകുവിന് ; തെക്കോവയില് കാഹളം ഊതുവിന് ; ബേത്ത്--ഹക്കേരെമില് ഒരു തീക്കുറി ഉയര്ത്തുവിന് വടക്കു നിന്നു അനര്ഥവും മഹാ നാശവും കാണായ്വരുന്നു.

1. 'Run away to be safe, O sons of Benjamin! Run from Jerusalem! Blow the horn in Tekoa, and light a fire in Beth-haccerem. For a sinful power is coming down from the north, that will destroy much.

2. സുന്ദരിയും സുഖഭോഗിനിയുമായ സീയോന് പുത്രിയെ ഞാന് മുടിച്ചുകളയും.

2. I will cut off the beautiful and fine ones, the people of Zion.

3. അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ഇടയന്മാര് ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ വരും; അവര് അവള്ക്കെതിരെ ചുറ്റിലും കൂടാരം അടിക്കും; അവര് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ ഭാഗത്തു മേയിക്കും.

3. Shepherds and their flocks will come to her. They will set up their tents around her and feed their flocks there, each in his place.

4. അതിന്റെ നേരെ പടയൊരുക്കുവിന് ! എഴുന്നേല്പിന് ഉച്ചെക്കു തന്നേ നമുക്കു കയറിച്ചെല്ലാം! അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം! നേരം വൈകി നിഴല് നീണ്ടുപോയി.

4. Make war against her. Rise up, let us go and fight her at noon. It is bad for us, for the day is passing! The shadows of the evening are longer!

5. എഴുന്നേല്പിന് ! രാത്രിയില് നാം കയറിച്ചെന്നു അതിലെ അരമനകളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുക!

6. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം കല്പിക്കുന്നുവൃക്ഷം മുറിപ്പിന് ! യെരൂശലേമിന്നു നേരെ വാട കോരുവിന് ! സന്ദര്ശിക്കപ്പെടുവാനുള്ള നഗരം ഇതുതന്നേ; അതിന്റെ അകം മുഴുവനും പീഡനം നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു;

6. For the Lord of All says, 'Cut down her trees, and build a battle-wall against Jerusalem. This is the city to be punished. There is nothing but a sinful power that makes hard times for others within her.

7. കിണറ്റില് പച്ചവെള്ളം നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ അതില് എപ്പോഴും പുതിയ ദുഷ്ടത സംഭവിക്കുന്നു; സാഹസവും കവര്ച്ചയുമേ അവിടെ കേള്പ്പാനുള്ളു; എന്റെ മുമ്പില് എപ്പോഴും ദീനവും മുറിവും മാത്രമേയുള്ളു.

7. As a well keeps its water good for drinking, so Jerusalem keeps going on in her sin. The sounds of those who fight and those who destroy are heard in her. Sickness and sorrow are always before Me.

8. യെരൂശലേമേ, എന്റെ ഉള്ളം നിന്നെ വിട്ടുപിരിയാതെയും ഞാന് നിന്നെ ശൂന്യവും നിര്ജ്ജനപ്രദേശവും ആക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഉപദേശം കൈക്കൊള്ക.

8. Listen about the danger, O Jerusalem, or I will become a stranger to you. I will make you a waste, a land with no people.'

9. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുയിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ശേഷിപ്പിനെ മുന്തിരിപ്പഴംപോലെ അരിച്ചു പറിക്കും; മുന്തിരിപ്പഴം പറിക്കുന്നവനെപ്പോലെ നിന്റെ കൈ വീണ്ടും വള്ളികളിലേക്കു നീട്ടുക.

9. The Lord of All says, 'They will gather all the people of Israel who are left like gathering from the vine. Pass your hand over the branches again like one who gathers grapes.'

10. അവര് കേള്പ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാന് ആരോടു സംസാരിച്ചു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കേണ്ടു? അവരുടെ ചെവിക്കു പരിച്ഛേദന ഇല്ലായ്കയാല് ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പാന് അവര്ക്കും കഴികയില്ല; യഹോവയുടെ വചനം അവര്ക്കും നിന്ദയായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും അതില് ഇഷ്ടമില്ല.

10. Whom should I tell of the danger, that they may hear? See, their ears are closed and they cannot listen. They have become ashamed of the Word of the Lord. They have no joy in it.

11. ആകയാല് ഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ ക്രോധംകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു അടക്കിവെച്ചു ഞാന് തളര്ന്നുപോയി; ഞാന് അതു വീഥികളിലെ കുട്ടികളിന്മേലും യൌവനക്കാരുടെ സംഘത്തിന്മേലും ഒരുപോലെ ഒഴിച്ചുകളയും; ഭര്ത്താവും ഭാര്യയും വൃദ്ധനും വയോധികനും കൂടെ പിടിപെടും.

11. But I am full of the anger of the Lord. I am tired of holding it in. 'Pour it out on the children in the street, and on the young men gathered together. For both husband and wife will be taken, the old and those who have lived a very long time.

12. അവരുടെ വീടുകളും നിലങ്ങളും ഭാര്യമാരും എല്ലാം അന്യന്മാര്ക്കും ആയിപ്പോകും; ഞാന് എന്റെ കൈ ദേശത്തിലെ നിവാസികളുടെ നേരെ നീട്ടും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

12. Their houses, their fields and their wives will be given to others. I will put out My hand against the people of the land,' says the Lord.

13. അവരൊക്കെയും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം ദ്രവ്യാഗ്രഹികള് ആകുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്മാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ഒരുപോലെ വ്യാജം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു.

13. 'For from the least to the greatest of them, every one is always wanting something. And from the man of God to the religious leader, every one lies to get what he wants.

14. They have healed the hurt of My people only a little, saying, 'Peace, peace,' when there is no peace.

15. Were they ashamed because of the sinful things they had done? No, they were not ashamed at all. They did not even know how to turn red. So they will fall among those who fall. When I punish them, they will be brought down,' says the Lord.

16. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങള് വഴികളില് ചെന്നു നല്ലവഴി ഏതെന്നു പഴയ പാതകളെ നോക്കി ചോദിച്ചു അതില് നടപ്പിന് ; എന്നാല് നിങ്ങളുടെ മനസ്സിന്നു വിശ്രാമം ലഭിക്കും. അവരോഞങ്ങള് അതില് നടക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. The Lord says, 'Stand by where the roads cross, and look. Ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it. And you will find rest for your souls. But they said, 'We will not walk in it.'

17. I set watchmen over you, saying, 'Listen to the sound of the horn!' But they said, 'We will not listen.'

18. So hear, O nations, and know, O people, what will happen to them.

19. ഭൂമിയോ, കേള്ക്ക; ഈ ജനം എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാതെ എന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ നിരസിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു, ഞാന് അവരുടെ വിചാരങ്ങളുടെ ഫലമായി അനര്ത്ഥം അവരുടെമേല് വരുത്തും.

19. Hear, O earth. See, I am bringing much trouble upon these people. It is the fruit of their plans, because they have not listened to My words. And they have turned away from My law.

20. ശെബയില്നിന്നു കുന്തുരുക്കവും ദൂരദേശത്തുനിന്നു വയമ്പും എനിക്കു കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നതു എന്തിനു? നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളില് എനിക്കു പ്രസാദമില്ല; നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹനനയാഗങ്ങളില് എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടവുമില്ല.

20. Why does special perfume come to Me from Sheba, or sweet spices from a far away land? I will not receive your burnt gifts on the altar in worship. The gifts you give on the altar are not pleasing to Me.'

21. ആകയാല് യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഇടര്ച്ചകളെ വേക്കും; പിതാക്കന്മാരും പുത്രന്മാരും ഒരുപോലെ അതിന്മേല് തട്ടി വീഴും; അയല്ക്കാരനും കൂട്ടുകാരനും നശിച്ചുപോകും.

21. So the Lord says, 'See, I am laying things in front of these people, and they will fall over them. Fathers and sons will fall together, and neighbor and friend will die.'

22. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഇതാ, വടക്കുദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഒരു ജാതി വരുന്നു; ഭൂമിയുടെ അറ്റങ്ങളില്നിന്നു ഒരു മഹാജാതി ഉണര്ന്നുവരും.

22. The Lord says, 'See, a people is coming from the north country. A great nation is being raised up from the farthest parts of the earth.

23. അവര് വില്ലും കുന്തവും എടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് ക്രൂരന്മാര്; കരുണയില്ലാത്തവര് തന്നേ; അവരുടെ ആരവം കടല്പോലെ ഇരെക്കുന്നു; സീയോന് പുത്രീ, അവര് നിന്റെ നേരെ യുദ്ധസന്നദ്ധരായി ഔരോരുത്തരും കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കയറി അണിനിരന്നു നിലക്കുന്നു.

23. They take hold of bow and spear. They are hard on people and have no pity. Their voice sounds like the sea. They ride on horses, dressed as a man for battle against you, O people of Zion!'

24. അതിന്റെ വര്ത്തമാനം കേട്ടിട്ടു ഞങ്ങളുടെ ധൈര്യം ക്ഷയിച്ചു, നോവു കിട്ടിയ സ്ത്രീയെപ്പോലെ മഹാവ്യസനവും അതിവേദനയും ഞങ്ങളെ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. We have heard about it. Our hands fall weak. Suffering has taken hold of us, like the pain of a woman giving birth.

25. നിങ്ങള് വയലിലേക്കു ചെല്ലരുതു; വഴിയില് നടക്കയുമരുതു; അവിടെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ വാളും ചുറ്റും ഭയവും ഉണ്ടു.

25. Do not go out into the field, and do not walk on the road. For the one who hates us has a sword. Fear is all around us.

26. എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രീ, രട്ടുടുത്തു വെണ്ണീറില് ഉരുളുക; ഏകജാതനെക്കുറിച്ചു എന്നപോലെയുള്ള ദുഃഖവും കഠിനമായുള്ള വിലാപവും കഴിച്ചുകൊള്ക; സംഹാരകന് പെട്ടെന്നു നമ്മുടെ നേരെ വരും.

26. O daughter of my people, dress in cloth made from hair and roll in ashes. Have sorrow as if you lost your only son. Cry with a bitter cry. For all at once the destroyer will come upon us.

27. നീ എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ നടപ്പു പരീക്ഷിച്ചറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നെ അവരുടെ ഇടയില് ഒരു പരീക്ഷകനും മാറ്റുനോക്കുന്നവനും ആക്കി വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

27. I have asked you to test My people, that you may know and test their ways.'

28. അവരെല്ലാവരും മഹാ മത്സരികള്, നുണപറഞ്ഞു നടക്കുന്നവര്; ചെമ്പും ഇരിമ്പും അത്രേ; അവരെല്ലാവരും വഷളത്വം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു.

28. All of them are strongwilled in turning to their own way, going about telling stories to hurt people. They are brass and iron. All of them are sinful.

29. തുരുത്തി ഊതുന്നു; തീയില്നിന്നു വരുന്നതു ഈയമത്രേ; ഊതിക്കഴിക്കുന്ന പണി വെറുതെ; ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് നീങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നില്ലല്ലോ.

29. Air is blown hard on the fire to burn up the lead. It is of no use because the sinful ones are not taken away.

30. യഹോവ അവരെ ത്യജിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു അവര്ക്കും കറക്കന് വെള്ളി എന്നു പേരാകും. sയഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവിന്നുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാടു എന്തെന്നാല്

30. They are called waste silver, because the Lord has turned away from them.
