1. ബെന്യാമീന് മക്കളേ, യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നടുവില്നിന്നു ഔടിപ്പോകുവിന് ; തെക്കോവയില് കാഹളം ഊതുവിന് ; ബേത്ത്--ഹക്കേരെമില് ഒരു തീക്കുറി ഉയര്ത്തുവിന് വടക്കു നിന്നു അനര്ഥവും മഹാ നാശവും കാണായ്വരുന്നു.

1. Strengthen yourselves, you children of Benjamin, [to flee] out of the midst of Jerusalem, and sound an alarm with the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a signal over Beth Haccerem; for evil threatens from the north, and a great destruction is coming.

2. സുന്ദരിയും സുഖഭോഗിനിയുമായ സീയോന് പുത്രിയെ ഞാന് മുടിച്ചുകളയും.

2. And [your] pride shall be taken away, O daughter of Zion.

3. അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ഇടയന്മാര് ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ വരും; അവര് അവള്ക്കെതിരെ ചുറ്റിലും കൂടാരം അടിക്കും; അവര് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ ഭാഗത്തു മേയിക്കും.

3. The shepherds and their flocks shall come to her; and they shall pitch [their] tents against her round about, and shall feed [their flocks,] each with his hand.

4. അതിന്റെ നേരെ പടയൊരുക്കുവിന് ! എഴുന്നേല്പിന് ഉച്ചെക്കു തന്നേ നമുക്കു കയറിച്ചെല്ലാം! അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം! നേരം വൈകി നിഴല് നീണ്ടുപോയി.

4. Prepare yourselves for war against her; rise up, and let us go up against her at noon. Woe to us, for the day has gone down, and the shadows of the day fail.

5. എഴുന്നേല്പിന് ! രാത്രിയില് നാം കയറിച്ചെന്നു അതിലെ അരമനകളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുക!

5. Rise, and let us go up against her by night, and destroy her foundations.

6. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം കല്പിക്കുന്നുവൃക്ഷം മുറിപ്പിന് ! യെരൂശലേമിന്നു നേരെ വാട കോരുവിന് ! സന്ദര്ശിക്കപ്പെടുവാനുള്ള നഗരം ഇതുതന്നേ; അതിന്റെ അകം മുഴുവനും പീഡനം നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു;

6. For thus says the Lord, Cut down her trees, array a numerous force against Jerusalem. O false city, she is full of oppression.

7. കിണറ്റില് പച്ചവെള്ളം നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ അതില് എപ്പോഴും പുതിയ ദുഷ്ടത സംഭവിക്കുന്നു; സാഹസവും കവര്ച്ചയുമേ അവിടെ കേള്പ്പാനുള്ളു; എന്റെ മുമ്പില് എപ്പോഴും ദീനവും മുറിവും മാത്രമേയുള്ളു.

7. As a cistern cools water, so her wickedness cools her, ungodliness and misery shall be heard in her, [as] continually before her.

8. യെരൂശലേമേ, എന്റെ ഉള്ളം നിന്നെ വിട്ടുപിരിയാതെയും ഞാന് നിന്നെ ശൂന്യവും നിര്ജ്ജനപ്രദേശവും ആക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഉപദേശം കൈക്കൊള്ക.

8. You shall be chastened, O Jerusalem, with pain and the scourge, lest My soul depart from you; lest I make you a desert land, which shall not be inhabited.

9. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുയിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ശേഷിപ്പിനെ മുന്തിരിപ്പഴംപോലെ അരിച്ചു പറിക്കും; മുന്തിരിപ്പഴം പറിക്കുന്നവനെപ്പോലെ നിന്റെ കൈ വീണ്ടും വള്ളികളിലേക്കു നീട്ടുക.

9. For thus says the Lord, Glean, glean thoroughly as a vine the remnant of Israel: turn back [your hands] as a grape-gatherer to his basket.

10. അവര് കേള്പ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാന് ആരോടു സംസാരിച്ചു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കേണ്ടു? അവരുടെ ചെവിക്കു പരിച്ഛേദന ഇല്ലായ്കയാല് ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പാന് അവര്ക്കും കഴികയില്ല; യഹോവയുടെ വചനം അവര്ക്കും നിന്ദയായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും അതില് ഇഷ്ടമില്ല.

10. To whom shall I speak and testify, that he may hear? Behold, your ears are uncircumcised, and they shall not be able to hear. Behold, the word of the Lord has become a reproach to them, they will not at all desire it.

11. ആകയാല് ഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ ക്രോധംകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു അടക്കിവെച്ചു ഞാന് തളര്ന്നുപോയി; ഞാന് അതു വീഥികളിലെ കുട്ടികളിന്മേലും യൌവനക്കാരുടെ സംഘത്തിന്മേലും ഒരുപോലെ ഒഴിച്ചുകളയും; ഭര്ത്താവും ഭാര്യയും വൃദ്ധനും വയോധികനും കൂടെ പിടിപെടും.

11. And I allowed My wrath to come to full, yet I kept [it] in, and did not utterly destroy them. I will pour it out on the children outside, and on the assembly of young men together; for man and woman shall be taken together, the old man with him that is full of days.

12. അവരുടെ വീടുകളും നിലങ്ങളും ഭാര്യമാരും എല്ലാം അന്യന്മാര്ക്കും ആയിപ്പോകും; ഞാന് എന്റെ കൈ ദേശത്തിലെ നിവാസികളുടെ നേരെ നീട്ടും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

12. And their houses shall be turned to others, [with] their fields and their wives together; for I will stretch out My hand upon the inhabitants of this land, says the Lord.

13. അവരൊക്കെയും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം ദ്രവ്യാഗ്രഹികള് ആകുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്മാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ഒരുപോലെ വ്യാജം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു.

13. For from the least of them even to the greatest they have all committed iniquity; from the priest even to the false prophet they have all dealt falsely.

14. സമാധാനം ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കെ, സമാധാനം സമാധാനം എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ മുറിവിന്നു ലഘുവായി ചികിത്സിക്കുന്നു.

14. And they healed the breach of My people [imperfectly], making light [of it], and saying, Peace, peace, and where is peace?

15. മ്ളേച്ഛത പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് ലജ്ജിക്കേണ്ടിവരും; അവര് ലജ്ജിക്കയോ നാണം അറികയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു വീഴുന്നവരുടെ ഇടയില് അവര് വീണുപോകും; ഞാന് അവരെ സന്ദര്ശിക്കുന്ന കാലത്തു അവര് ഇടറി വീഴും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

15. They were ashamed because they failed; yet they were not ashamed as those who were [truly] ashamed, and they knew not their own disgrace; therefore shall they [utterly] fall when they do fall, and in the time of visitation shall they perish, says the Lord.

16. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങള് വഴികളില് ചെന്നു നല്ലവഴി ഏതെന്നു പഴയ പാതകളെ നോക്കി ചോദിച്ചു അതില് നടപ്പിന് ; എന്നാല് നിങ്ങളുടെ മനസ്സിന്നു വിശ്രാമം ലഭിക്കും. അവരോഞങ്ങള് അതില് നടക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. Thus says the Lord, Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths of the Lord; and see what is the good way and walk in it, and you shall find purification for your souls. But they said, We will not walk [in them].

17. ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കാവല്ക്കാരെ ആക്കികാഹളനാദം ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; എന്നാല് അവര്ഞങ്ങള് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. I have set watchmen over you, [saying], Hear the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hear.

18. അതുകൊണ്ടു ജാതികളേ, കേള്പ്പിന് ; സഭയേ, അവരുടെ ഇടയില് നടക്കുന്നതു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊള്ക.

18. Therefore have the nations heard, and they that feed their flocks.

19. ഭൂമിയോ, കേള്ക്ക; ഈ ജനം എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാതെ എന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ നിരസിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു, ഞാന് അവരുടെ വിചാരങ്ങളുടെ ഫലമായി അനര്ത്ഥം അവരുടെമേല് വരുത്തും.

19. Hear, O earth; behold, I will bring evils upon this people, [even] the fruit of their rebellions; for they have not heeded My words, and they have rejected My law.

20. ശെബയില്നിന്നു കുന്തുരുക്കവും ദൂരദേശത്തുനിന്നു വയമ്പും എനിക്കു കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നതു എന്തിനു? നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളില് എനിക്കു പ്രസാദമില്ല; നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹനനയാഗങ്ങളില് എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടവുമില്ല.

20. Why do you bring Me frankincense from Sheba, and cinnamon from a land afar off? Your whole burnt offerings are not acceptable, and your sacrifices have not been pleasing to Me.

21. ആകയാല് യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഇടര്ച്ചകളെ വേക്കും; പിതാക്കന്മാരും പുത്രന്മാരും ഒരുപോലെ അതിന്മേല് തട്ടി വീഴും; അയല്ക്കാരനും കൂട്ടുകാരനും നശിച്ചുപോകും.

21. Therefore thus says the Lord, Behold, I [will] bring weakness upon this people, and the fathers and sons shall be weak together; the neighbor and his friend shall perish.

22. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഇതാ, വടക്കുദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഒരു ജാതി വരുന്നു; ഭൂമിയുടെ അറ്റങ്ങളില്നിന്നു ഒരു മഹാജാതി ഉണര്ന്നുവരും.

22. Thus says the Lord, Behold, a people come from the north, and nations shall be stirred up from the end of the earth.

23. അവര് വില്ലും കുന്തവും എടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് ക്രൂരന്മാര്; കരുണയില്ലാത്തവര് തന്നേ; അവരുടെ ആരവം കടല്പോലെ ഇരെക്കുന്നു; സീയോന് പുത്രീ, അവര് നിന്റെ നേരെ യുദ്ധസന്നദ്ധരായി ഔരോരുത്തരും കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കയറി അണിനിരന്നു നിലക്കുന്നു.

23. They shall lay hold of bow and spear; [the people] are fierce, and will have no mercy; their voice is as the roaring sea; they shall array themselves for war against you as fire on horses and chariots, O daughter of Zion.

24. അതിന്റെ വര്ത്തമാനം കേട്ടിട്ടു ഞങ്ങളുടെ ധൈര്യം ക്ഷയിച്ചു, നോവു കിട്ടിയ സ്ത്രീയെപ്പോലെ മഹാവ്യസനവും അതിവേദനയും ഞങ്ങളെ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. We have heard the report of them; our hands are weakened. Anguish has seized us, the pangs as of a woman in travail.

25. നിങ്ങള് വയലിലേക്കു ചെല്ലരുതു; വഴിയില് നടക്കയുമരുതു; അവിടെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ വാളും ചുറ്റും ഭയവും ഉണ്ടു.

25. Go not forth into the field, and walk not in the ways, for the sword of the enemy lingers round about.

26. എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രീ, രട്ടുടുത്തു വെണ്ണീറില് ഉരുളുക; ഏകജാതനെക്കുറിച്ചു എന്നപോലെയുള്ള ദുഃഖവും കഠിനമായുള്ള വിലാപവും കഴിച്ചുകൊള്ക; സംഹാരകന് പെട്ടെന്നു നമ്മുടെ നേരെ വരും.

26. O daughter of My people, gird yourself with sackcloth; sprinkle [yourself] with ashes; make for yourself pitiable lamentation, [as] the mourning for a beloved [son]; for misery will come suddenly upon you.

27. നീ എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ നടപ്പു പരീക്ഷിച്ചറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നെ അവരുടെ ഇടയില് ഒരു പരീക്ഷകനും മാറ്റുനോക്കുന്നവനും ആക്കി വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

27. I have caused you to be tried among tried nations, and you shall know Me when I have tested their way.

28. അവരെല്ലാവരും മഹാ മത്സരികള്, നുണപറഞ്ഞു നടക്കുന്നവര്; ചെമ്പും ഇരിമ്പും അത്രേ; അവരെല്ലാവരും വഷളത്വം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു.

28. [They are] all disobedient, walking perversely. [They are] brass and iron; they are all corrupted.

29. തുരുത്തി ഊതുന്നു; തീയില്നിന്നു വരുന്നതു ഈയമത്രേ; ഊതിക്കഴിക്കുന്ന പണി വെറുതെ; ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് നീങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നില്ലല്ലോ.

29. The bellows have failed from the fire, the lead has failed. The silversmith works at his trade in vain; their wickedness is not consumed.

30. യഹോവ അവരെ ത്യജിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു അവര്ക്കും കറക്കന് വെള്ളി എന്നു പേരാകും. sയഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവിന്നുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാടു എന്തെന്നാല്

30. Call them reprobate silver, because the Lord has rejected them.
