1. യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. The Lord spoke his word to me, saying:

2. അപ്പന്മാര് പച്ചമുന്തിരിങ്ങാ തിന്നു മക്കളുടെ പല്ലു പുളിച്ചു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് യിസ്രായേല്ദേശത്തു ഒരു പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലു പറയുന്നതു എന്തു?

2. What do you mean by using this saying about the land of Israel: 'The parents have eaten sour grapes, and that caused the children to grind their teeth from the sour taste'?

3. എന്നാണ, നിങ്ങള് ഇനി യിസ്രായേലില് ഈ പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലു പറവാന് ഇടവരികയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

3. As surely as I live, says the Lord God, this is true: You will not use this saying in Israel anymore.

4. സകല ദേഹികളും എനിക്കുള്ളവര്; അപ്പന്റെ പ്രാണനും മകന്റെ പ്രാണനും ഒരുപോലെ എനിക്കുള്ളതു; പാപം ചെയ്യുന്ന ദേഹി മരിക്കും.

4. Every living thing belongs to me. The life of the parent is mine, and the life of the child is mine. The person who sins is the one who will die.

5. എന്നാല് ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് നീതിമാനായിരുന്നു നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്--

5. Suppose a person is good and does what is fair and right.

6. പൂജാഗിരികളില്വെച്ചു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കയോ യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ നോക്കി നമസ്കരിക്കയോ കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ വഷളാക്കുകയോ ഋതുവായ സ്ത്രീയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുകയോ ആരോടും അന്യായം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കയോ ചെയ്യാതെ

6. He does not eat at the mountain places of worship. He does not look to the idols of Israel for help. He does not have sexual relations with his neighbor's wife or with a woman during her time of monthly bleeding.

7. കടം വാങ്ങിയവന്നു പണയം മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കയും ആരോടും പിടിച്ചുപറിക്കാതെ തന്റെ അപ്പം വിശപ്പുള്ളവന്നു കൊടുക്കയും നഗ്നനെ ഉടുപ്പിക്കയും

7. He does not mistreat anyone but returns what was given as a promise for a loan. He does not rob other people. He gives bread to the hungry and clothes to those who have none.

8. പലിശെക്കു കൊടുക്കയോ ലാഭം വാങ്ങുകയോ ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കയും നീതികേടു ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം കൈ മടക്കിക്കൊള്കയും മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും തമ്മിലുള്ള വ്യവഹാരത്തില് നേരോടെ വിധിക്കയും

8. He does not lend money to get too much interest or profit. He keeps his hand from doing wrong. He judges fairly between one person and another.

9. എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ അനുസരിക്കയും എന്റെ ന്യായങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടു നേരോടേ നടക്കുന്നവന് നീതിമാന് - അവന് നിശ്ചയമായി ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

9. He lives by my rules and obeys my laws faithfully. Whoever does these things is good and will surely live, says the Lord God.

10. But suppose this person has a wild son who murders people and who does any of these other things.

11. ചെയ്യേണ്ടതൊന്നും ചെയ്യാതിരിക്ക, പൂജാഗിരികളില് വെച്ചു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്ക,

11. (But the father himself has not done any of these things.) This son eats at the mountain places of worship. He has sexual relations with his neighbor's wife.

12. കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ വഷളാക്കുക, എളിയവനോടും ദരിദ്രനോടും അന്യായം ചെയ്ക, പിടിച്ചുപറിക്ക, പണയം മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കാതിരിക്ക, വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ നോക്കി നമസ്കരിക്ക,

12. He mistreats the poor and needy. He steals and refuses to return what was promised for a loan. He looks to idols for help. He does things which I hate.

13. മ്ളേച്ഛത പ്രവര്ത്തിക്ക, പലിശെക്കു കൊടുക്ക, ലാഭം വാങ്ങുക എന്നീവക ചെയ്യുന്നവനായാല് അവന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമോ? അവന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കയില്ല; അവന് ഈ മ്ളേച്ഛതകളൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ; അവന് മരിക്കും; അവന്റെ രക്തം അവന്റെ മേല് വരും.

13. He lends money for too much interest and profit. Will this son live? No, he will not live! He has done all these hateful things, so he will surely be put to death. He will be responsible for his own death.

14. എന്നാല് അവന്നു ഒരു മകന് ജനിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് തന്റെ അപ്പന് ചെയ്ത സകല പാപങ്ങളും കണ്ടു പേടിച്ചു അങ്ങനെയുള്ളതിനെ ചെയ്യാതെ പര്വ്വതങ്ങളില്വെച്ചു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്ക,

14. Now suppose this son has a son who has seen all his father's sins, but after seeing them does not do those things.

15. യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ നോക്കി നമസ്കരിക്ക, കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ വഷളാക്കുക,

16. ആരോടെങ്കിലും അന്യായം ചെയ്ക, പണയം കൈവശം വെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്ക, പിടിച്ചുപറിക്ക, എന്നീവകയൊന്നും ചെയ്യാതെ വിശപ്പുള്ളവന്നു അപ്പം കൊടുക്കയും നഗ്നനെ ഉടുപ്പിക്കയും

16. He does not mistreat anyone or keep something promised for a loan or steal. He gives bread to the hungry and clothes to those who have none.

17. നീതികേടു ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം കൈ മടക്കിക്കൊള്കയും പലിശയും ലാഭവും വാങ്ങാതിരിക്കയും എന്റെ വിധികളെ നടത്തി എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ അനുസരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കില് അവന് അപ്പന്റെ അകൃത്യംനിമിത്തം മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും.

17. He keeps his hand from doing wrong. He does not take too much interest or profit when he lends money. He obeys my laws and lives by my rules. He will not die for his father's sin; he will surely live.

18. അവന്റെ അപ്പനോ ക്രൂരപീഡനംചെയ്തു, സഹോദരനോടു പിടിച്ചുപറിച്ചു, തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് കൊള്ളരുതാത്തതു പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു തന്റെ അകൃത്യത്താല് മരിക്കും.

18. But his father took other people's money unfairly and robbed his brother and did what was wrong among his people. So he will die for his own sin.

19. എന്നാല് മകന് അപ്പന്റെ അകൃത്യം വഹിക്കേണ്ടതല്ലയോ എന്നു നിങ്ങള് ചോദിക്കുന്നു; മകന് നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്, അവന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും.

19. But you ask, 'Why is the son not punished for the father's sin?' The son has done what is fair and right. He obeys all my rules, so he will surely live.

20. പാപം ചെയ്യുന്ന ദേഹി മരിക്കും; മകന് അപ്പന്റെ അകൃത്യം വഹിക്കേണ്ട; അപ്പന് മകന്റെ അകൃത്യവും വഹിക്കേണ്ട; നീതിമാന്റെ നീതി അവന്റെമേലും ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത അവന്റെമേലും ഇരിക്കും.

20. The person who sins is the one who will die. A child will not be punished for a parent's sin, and a parent will not be punished for a child's sin. Those who do right will enjoy the results of their own goodness; evil people will suffer the results of their own evil.

21. എന്നാല് ദുഷ്ടന് താന് ചെയ്ത സകല പാപങ്ങളെയും വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെയൊക്കെയും പ്രമാണിച്ചു, നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്, അവന് മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും.

21. But suppose the wicked stop doing all the sins they have done and obey all my rules and do what is fair and right. Then they will surely live; they will not die.

22. അവന് ചെയ്ത അതിക്രമങ്ങളില് ഔന്നിനെയും അവന്നു കണക്കിടുകയില്ല; അവന് ചെയ്ത നീതിയാല് അവന് ജീവിക്കും.

22. Their sins will be forgotten. Because they have done what is right, they will live.

23. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മരണത്തില് എനിക്കു അല്പമെങ്കിലും താല്പര്യം ഉണ്ടോ? അവന് തന്റെ വഴികളെ വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു ജീവിക്കേണമെന്നല്ലയോ എന്റെ താല്പര്യം എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

23. I do not really want the wicked to die, says the Lord God. I want them to stop their bad ways and live.

24. എന്നാല് നീതിമാന് തന്റെ നീതി വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നീതികേടു പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു, ദുഷ്ടന് ചെയ്യുന്ന സകലമ്ളേച്ഛതകളെയുംപോലെ ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കില്, അവന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമോ? അവന് ചെയ്ത നീതിയൊന്നും കണക്കിടുകയില്ല; അവന് ചെയ്ത ദ്രോഹത്താലും അവന് ചെയ്ത പാപത്താലും അവന് മരിക്കും.

24. But suppose good people stop doing good and do wrong and do the same hateful things the wicked do. Will they live? All their good acts will be forgotten, because they became unfaithful. They have sinned, so they will die because of their sins.

25. എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള്കര്ത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ചൊവ്വുള്ളതല്ല എന്നു പറയുന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, കേള്പ്പിന് ; എന്റെ വഴി ചൊവ്വുള്ളതല്ലയോ നിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികള് ചൊവ്വില്ലാത്തവയല്ലയോ?

25. But you say, 'What the Lord does isn't fair.' Listen, people of Israel. I am fair. It is what you do that is not fair!

26. നീതിമാന് തന്റെ നിതി വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നീതികേടു പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവന് അതുനിമിത്തം മരിക്കും; അവന് ചെയ്ത നീതികേടു നിമിത്തം തന്നേ അവന് മരിക്കും.

26. When good people stop doing good and do wrong, they will die because of it. They will die, because they did wrong.

27. ദുഷ്ടന് താന് ചെയ്ത ദുഷ്ടത വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്, അവന് തന്നെത്താന് ജീവനോടെ രക്ഷിക്കും.

27. When the wicked stop being wicked and do what is fair and right, they will save their lives.

28. അവന് ഔര്ത്തു താന് ചെയ്ത അതിക്രമങ്ങളെയൊക്കെയും വിട്ടുതിരിയുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും

28. Because they thought about it and stopped doing all the sins they had done, they will surely live; they will not die.

29. എന്നാല് യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹംകര്ത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ചൊവ്വുള്ളതല്ല എന്നു പറയുന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, എന്റെ വഴികള് ചൊവ്വുള്ളവയല്ലയോ? നിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികള് ചൊവ്വില്ലാത്തവയല്ലയോ?

29. But the people of Israel still say, 'What the Lord does isn't fair.' People of Israel, I am fair. It is what you do that is not fair.

30. അതുകൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, ഞാന് നിങ്ങളില് ഔരോരുത്തന്നും അവനവന്റെ വഴിക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം ന്യായം വിധിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടുഅകൃത്യം നിങ്ങള്ക്കു നാശകരമായി ഭവിക്കാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് മനന്തിരിഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങളുടെ അതിക്രമങ്ങളൊക്കെയും വിട്ടുതിരിവിന് .

30. So I will judge you, people of Israel; I will judge each of you by what you do, says the Lord God. Change your hearts and stop all your sinning so sin will not bring your ruin.

31. നിങ്ങള് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന അതിക്രമങ്ങളൊക്കെയും നിങ്ങളില്നിന്നു എറിഞ്ഞുകളവിന് ; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു പുതിയോരു ഹൃദയത്തെയും പുതിയോരു ആത്മാവിനെയും സമ്പാദിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് ; യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ നിങ്ങള് എന്തിനു മരിക്കുന്നു?

31. Get rid of all the sins you have done, and get for yourselves a new heart and a new way of thinking. Why do you want to die, people of Israel?

32. മരിക്കുന്നവന്റെ മരണത്തില് എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു; ആകയാല് നിങ്ങള് മനന്തിരിഞ്ഞു ജീവിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

32. I do not want anyone to die, says the Lord God, so change your hearts and lives so you may live.
