1. യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

2. അപ്പന്മാര് പച്ചമുന്തിരിങ്ങാ തിന്നു മക്കളുടെ പല്ലു പുളിച്ചു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് യിസ്രായേല്ദേശത്തു ഒരു പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലു പറയുന്നതു എന്തു?

2. 'What do you people mean by going around the country repeating the saying, The parents ate green apples, The children got stomachache?

3. എന്നാണ, നിങ്ങള് ഇനി യിസ്രായേലില് ഈ പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലു പറവാന് ഇടവരികയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

3. 'As sure as I'm the living God, you're not going to repeat this saying in Israel any longer.

4. സകല ദേഹികളും എനിക്കുള്ളവര്; അപ്പന്റെ പ്രാണനും മകന്റെ പ്രാണനും ഒരുപോലെ എനിക്കുള്ളതു; പാപം ചെയ്യുന്ന ദേഹി മരിക്കും.

4. Every soul--man, woman, child--belongs to me, parent and child alike. You die for your own sin, not another's.

5. 'Imagine a person who lives well, treating others fairly, keeping good relationships--

6. doesn't eat at the pagan shrines, doesn't worship the idols so popular in Israel, doesn't seduce a neighbor's spouse, doesn't indulge in casual sex,

7. കടം വാങ്ങിയവന്നു പണയം മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കയും ആരോടും പിടിച്ചുപറിക്കാതെ തന്റെ അപ്പം വിശപ്പുള്ളവന്നു കൊടുക്കയും നഗ്നനെ ഉടുപ്പിക്കയും

7. doesn't bully anyone, doesn't pile up bad debts, doesn't steal, doesn't refuse food to the hungry, doesn't refuse clothing to the ill-clad,

8. പലിശെക്കു കൊടുക്കയോ ലാഭം വാങ്ങുകയോ ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കയും നീതികേടു ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം കൈ മടക്കിക്കൊള്കയും മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും തമ്മിലുള്ള വ്യവഹാരത്തില് നേരോടെ വിധിക്കയും

8. doesn't exploit the poor, doesn't live by impulse and greed, doesn't treat one person better than another,

9. എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ അനുസരിക്കയും എന്റെ ന്യായങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടു നേരോടേ നടക്കുന്നവന് നീതിമാന് - അവന് നിശ്ചയമായി ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

9. But lives by my statutes and faithfully honors and obeys my laws. This person who lives upright and well shall live a full and true life. Decree of GOD, the Master.

10. എന്നാല് അവന്നു ഒരു മകന് ജനിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് നിഷ്കണ്ടകനായിരുന്നു രക്തം ചൊരിക, അവയില് ഏതെങ്കിലും ചെയ്ക,

10. 'But if this person has a child who turns violent and murders and goes off and does any of these things,

11. ചെയ്യേണ്ടതൊന്നും ചെയ്യാതിരിക്ക, പൂജാഗിരികളില് വെച്ചു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്ക,

11. even though the parent has done none of them-- eats at the pagan shrines, seduces his neighbor's spouse,

12. കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ വഷളാക്കുക, എളിയവനോടും ദരിദ്രനോടും അന്യായം ചെയ്ക, പിടിച്ചുപറിക്ക, പണയം മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കാതിരിക്ക, വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ നോക്കി നമസ്കരിക്ക,

12. bullies the weak, steals, piles up bad debts, admires idols, commits outrageous obscenities,

13. മ്ളേച്ഛത പ്രവര്ത്തിക്ക, പലിശെക്കു കൊടുക്ക, ലാഭം വാങ്ങുക എന്നീവക ചെയ്യുന്നവനായാല് അവന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമോ? അവന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കയില്ല; അവന് ഈ മ്ളേച്ഛതകളൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ; അവന് മരിക്കും; അവന്റെ രക്തം അവന്റെ മേല് വരും.

13. exploits the poor '--do you think this person, the child, will live? Not a chance! Because he's done all these vile things, he'll die. And his death will be his own fault.

14. എന്നാല് അവന്നു ഒരു മകന് ജനിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് തന്റെ അപ്പന് ചെയ്ത സകല പാപങ്ങളും കണ്ടു പേടിച്ചു അങ്ങനെയുള്ളതിനെ ചെയ്യാതെ പര്വ്വതങ്ങളില്വെച്ചു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്ക,

14. 'Now look: Suppose that this child has a child who sees all the sins done by his parent. The child sees them, but doesn't follow in the parent's footsteps--

15. യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ നോക്കി നമസ്കരിക്ക, കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ വഷളാക്കുക,

15. doesn't eat at the pagan shrines, doesn't worship the popular idols of Israel, doesn't seduce his neighbor's spouse,

16. ആരോടെങ്കിലും അന്യായം ചെയ്ക, പണയം കൈവശം വെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്ക, പിടിച്ചുപറിക്ക, എന്നീവകയൊന്നും ചെയ്യാതെ വിശപ്പുള്ളവന്നു അപ്പം കൊടുക്കയും നഗ്നനെ ഉടുപ്പിക്കയും

16. doesn't bully anyone, doesn't refuse to loan money, doesn't steal, doesn't refuse food to the hungry, doesn't refuse to give clothes to the ill-clad,

17. നീതികേടു ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം കൈ മടക്കിക്കൊള്കയും പലിശയും ലാഭവും വാങ്ങാതിരിക്കയും എന്റെ വിധികളെ നടത്തി എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ അനുസരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കില് അവന് അപ്പന്റെ അകൃത്യംനിമിത്തം മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും.

17. doesn't live by impulse and greed, doesn't exploit the poor. He does what I say; he performs my laws and lives by my statutes. 'This person will not die for the sins of the parent; he will live truly and well.

18. അവന്റെ അപ്പനോ ക്രൂരപീഡനംചെയ്തു, സഹോദരനോടു പിടിച്ചുപറിച്ചു, തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് കൊള്ളരുതാത്തതു പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു തന്റെ അകൃത്യത്താല് മരിക്കും.

18. But the parent will die for what the parent did, for the sins of-- oppressing the weak, robbing brothers and sisters, doing what is dead wrong in the community.

19. എന്നാല് മകന് അപ്പന്റെ അകൃത്യം വഹിക്കേണ്ടതല്ലയോ എന്നു നിങ്ങള് ചോദിക്കുന്നു; മകന് നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്, അവന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും.

19. 'Do you need to ask, 'So why does the child not share the guilt of the parent?' 'Isn't it plain? It's because the child did what is fair and right. Since the child was careful to do what is lawful and right, the child will live truly and well.

20. പാപം ചെയ്യുന്ന ദേഹി മരിക്കും; മകന് അപ്പന്റെ അകൃത്യം വഹിക്കേണ്ട; അപ്പന് മകന്റെ അകൃത്യവും വഹിക്കേണ്ട; നീതിമാന്റെ നീതി അവന്റെമേലും ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത അവന്റെമേലും ഇരിക്കും.

20. The soul that sins is the soul that dies. The child does not share the guilt of the parent, nor the parent the guilt of the child. If you live upright and well, you get the credit; if you live a wicked life, you're guilty as charged.

21. എന്നാല് ദുഷ്ടന് താന് ചെയ്ത സകല പാപങ്ങളെയും വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെയൊക്കെയും പ്രമാണിച്ചു, നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്, അവന് മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും.

21. 'But a wicked person who turns his back on that life of sin and keeps all my statutes, living a just and righteous life, he'll live, really live. He won't die.

22. അവന് ചെയ്ത അതിക്രമങ്ങളില് ഔന്നിനെയും അവന്നു കണക്കിടുകയില്ല; അവന് ചെയ്ത നീതിയാല് അവന് ജീവിക്കും.

22. I won't keep a list of all the things he did wrong. He will live.

23. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മരണത്തില് എനിക്കു അല്പമെങ്കിലും താല്പര്യം ഉണ്ടോ? അവന് തന്റെ വഴികളെ വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു ജീവിക്കേണമെന്നല്ലയോ എന്റെ താല്പര്യം എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

23. Do you think I take any pleasure in the death of wicked men and women? Isn't it my pleasure that they turn around, no longer living wrong but living right--really living?

24. എന്നാല് നീതിമാന് തന്റെ നീതി വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നീതികേടു പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു, ദുഷ്ടന് ചെയ്യുന്ന സകലമ്ളേച്ഛതകളെയുംപോലെ ചെയ്യുന്നു എങ്കില്, അവന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമോ? അവന് ചെയ്ത നീതിയൊന്നും കണക്കിടുകയില്ല; അവന് ചെയ്ത ദ്രോഹത്താലും അവന് ചെയ്ത പാപത്താലും അവന് മരിക്കും.

24. 'The same thing goes for a good person who turns his back on an upright life and starts sinning, plunging into the same vile obscenities that the wicked person practices. Will this person live? I don't keep a list of all the things this person did right, like money in the bank he can draw on. Because of his defection, because he accumulates sin, he'll die.

25. എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള്കര്ത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ചൊവ്വുള്ളതല്ല എന്നു പറയുന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, കേള്പ്പിന് ; എന്റെ വഴി ചൊവ്വുള്ളതല്ലയോ നിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികള് ചൊവ്വില്ലാത്തവയല്ലയോ?

25. 'Do I hear you saying, 'That's not fair! God's not fair!'? 'Listen, Israel. I'm not fair? You're the ones who aren't fair!

26. നീതിമാന് തന്റെ നിതി വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നീതികേടു പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവന് അതുനിമിത്തം മരിക്കും; അവന് ചെയ്ത നീതികേടു നിമിത്തം തന്നേ അവന് മരിക്കും.

26. If a good person turns away from his good life and takes up sinning, he'll die for it. He'll die for his own sin.

27. ദുഷ്ടന് താന് ചെയ്ത ദുഷ്ടത വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്, അവന് തന്നെത്താന് ജീവനോടെ രക്ഷിക്കും.

27. Likewise, if a bad person turns away from his bad life and starts living a good life, a fair life, he will save his life.

28. അവന് ഔര്ത്തു താന് ചെയ്ത അതിക്രമങ്ങളെയൊക്കെയും വിട്ടുതിരിയുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും

28. Because he faces up to all the wrongs he's committed and puts them behind him, he will live, really live. He won't die.

29. എന്നാല് യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹംകര്ത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ചൊവ്വുള്ളതല്ല എന്നു പറയുന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, എന്റെ വഴികള് ചൊവ്വുള്ളവയല്ലയോ? നിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികള് ചൊവ്വില്ലാത്തവയല്ലയോ?

29. 'And yet Israel keeps on whining, 'That's not fair! God's not fair.' 'I'm not fair, Israel? You're the ones who aren't fair.

30. അതുകൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, ഞാന് നിങ്ങളില് ഔരോരുത്തന്നും അവനവന്റെ വഴിക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം ന്യായം വിധിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടുഅകൃത്യം നിങ്ങള്ക്കു നാശകരമായി ഭവിക്കാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് മനന്തിരിഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങളുടെ അതിക്രമങ്ങളൊക്കെയും വിട്ടുതിരിവിന് .

30. 'The upshot is this, Israel: I'll judge each of you according to the way you live. So turn around! Turn your backs on your rebellious living so that sin won't drag you down.

31. നിങ്ങള് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന അതിക്രമങ്ങളൊക്കെയും നിങ്ങളില്നിന്നു എറിഞ്ഞുകളവിന് ; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു പുതിയോരു ഹൃദയത്തെയും പുതിയോരു ആത്മാവിനെയും സമ്പാദിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് ; യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ നിങ്ങള് എന്തിനു മരിക്കുന്നു?

31. Clean house. No more rebellions, please. Get a new heart! Get a new spirit! Why would you choose to die, Israel?

32. മരിക്കുന്നവന്റെ മരണത്തില് എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു; ആകയാല് നിങ്ങള് മനന്തിരിഞ്ഞു ജീവിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

32. I take no pleasure in anyone's death. Decree of GOD, the Master. 'Make a clean break! Live!'
