1. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായി ആമോന്റെ മകനായ യോശീയാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു, ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ അമര്യ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ ഗെദല്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ കൂശിയുടെ മകനായ സെഫന്യാവിന്നുണ്ടായ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

1. This is the word of ADONAI that came to Tz'fanyah the son of Kushi, the son of G'dalyah, the son of Amaryah, the son of Hizkiyah, during the reign of Yoshiyahu the son of Amon, king of Y'hudah:

2. ഞാന് ഭൂതലത്തില്നിന്നു സകലത്തെയും സംഹരിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

2. 'I will completely sweep away everything off the face of the land,' says ADONAI.

3. ഞാന് മനുഷ്യരെയും മൃഗങ്ങളെയും സംഹരിക്കും; ഞാന് ആകാശത്തിലെ പറവജാതിയെയും സമുദ്രത്തിലെ മത്സ്യങ്ങളെയും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ഇടര്ച്ചകളെയും സംഹരിക്കും; ഞാന് ഭൂതലത്തില് നിന്നു മനുഷ്യനെ ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

3. I will sweep away humans and animals, the birds in the air and the fish in the sea, also the wicked and what makes them stumble; I will wipe humanity off the land,' says ADONAI.

4. ഞാന് യെഹൂദയുടെ മേലും യെരൂശലേമിലെ സകലനിവാസികളുടെ മേലും കൈ നീട്ടും; ഞാന് ഈ സ്ഥലത്തുനിന്നു ബാലിന്റെ ശേഷിപ്പിനെയും പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടു കൂടെ പൂജാരികളുടെ പേരിനെയും

4. 'I will stretch out my hand over Y'hudah and all those living in Yerushalayim. I will wipe every remnant of Ba'al from this place, the idol-serving priests and even their names,

5. those worshipping heaven's army on the roofs, also those who worship and swear by ADONAI but swear by Malkam as well,

6. യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കയോ അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു ചോദിക്കയോ ചെയ്യാത്തവരെയും ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും.

6. those who turned away from following [ADONAI,] and those who haven't sought ADONAI or consulted him at all.'

7. യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് മിണ്ടാതിരിക്ക; യഹോവയുടെ ദിവസം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവ ഒരു യാഗസദ്യ ഒരുക്കി താന് ക്ഷണിച്ചവരെ വിശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. Keep silent before [Adonai ELOHIM], for the Day of ADONAI is near. ADONAI has prepared a sacrifice; he has set apart those he invited.

8. എന്നാല് യഹോവയുടെ യാഗസദ്യയുള്ള ദിവസത്തില് ഞാന് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും രാജകുമാരന്മാരെയും അന്യദേശവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഏവരെയും സന്ദര്ശിക്കും.

8. When the time comes for ADONAI's sacrifice- 'I will punish the leaders and the sons of the king, also those who dress in foreign clothes.

9. അന്നാളില് ഞാന് ഉമ്മരപ്പടി ചാടിക്കടക്കുന്ന ഏവരെയും സാഹസവും വഞ്ചനയുംകൊണ്ടു തങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്മാരുടെ വീടുകളെ നിറെക്കുന്നവരെയും സന്ദര്ശിക്കും.

9. On the same day I will also punish all who jump over the threshold to fill the house of their master with violence and deceit.

10. അന്നാളില് മത്സ്യഗോപുരത്തില്നിന്നു ഉറക്കെയുള്ളോരു നിലവിളിയും രണ്ടാമത്തെ നഗരാംശത്തില്നിന്നു ഒരു മുറവിളയും കുന്നുകളില്നിന്നു ഒരു ത്സടത്സടനാദവും ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

10. Also on that day,' says ADONAI, 'a cry will be heard from the Fish Gate, wailing from the city's Second Quarter and a loud crash from the hills.

11. മക്തേശ് നിവാസികളെ, മുറയിടുവിന് ; വ്യാപാരിജനം ഒക്കെയും നശിച്ചുപോയല്ലോ; സകല ദ്രവ്യവാഹകന്മാരും ഛേദിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. Wail, you who live down in the hollow, because all the merchants are destroyed, all who trade with silver are ruined.

12. ആ കാലത്തു ഞാന് യെരൂശലേമിനെ വിളകൂ കത്തിച്ചു ശോധന കഴിക്കയും മട്ടിന്മേല് ഉറെച്ചുകിടന്നുയഹോവ ഗുണമോ ദോഷമോ ചെയ്കയില്ല എന്നു ഹൃദയത്തില് പറയുന്ന പുരുഷന്മാരെ സന്ദര്ശിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

12. When that time comes, I will search Yerushalayim with lamps and punish those who are [[smug and thick, like wine]] left too long on its dregs, who say to themselves, 'ADONAI will do nothing- neither good nor bad.'

13. അങ്ങനെ അവരുടെ സമ്പത്തു കവര്ച്ചയും അവരുടെ വീടുകള് ശൂന്യവും ആയ്തീരും; അവര് വീടു പണിയും, പാര്ക്കയില്ലതാനും; അവര് മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഉണ്ടാക്കും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കയില്ലതാനും.

13. For this, their wealth will be plundered; and their houses will be destroyed. Yes, they will build houses but not live in them; they will plant vineyards but not drink the wine.'

14. യഹോവയുടെ മഹാദിവസം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു അടുത്തു അത്യന്തം ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടുവരുന്നു; കേട്ടോ യഹോവയുടെ ദിവസം! വീരന് അവിടെ കഠിനമായി നിലവിളിക്കുന്നു.

14. The great Day of ADONAI is near, near and coming very quickly; Hear the sound of the Day of ADONAI! When it's here, even a warrior will cry bitterly.

15. ആ ദിവസം ക്രോധദിവസം, കഷ്ടവും സങ്കടവും ഉള്ള ദിവസം, ശൂന്യതയും നാശവും ഉള്ള ദിവസം, ഇരുട്ടും അന്ധകാരവും ഉള്ള ദിവസം, മേഘവും മൂടലും ഉള്ള ദിവസം,

15. That Day is a Day of fury, a Day of trouble and distress, a Day of waste and desolation, a Day of darkness and gloom, a Day of clouds and thick fog,

16. ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങള്ക്കും ഉയരമുള്ള കൊത്തളങ്ങള്ക്കും വിരോധമായി കാഹളനാദവും ആരവവും ഉള്ള ദിവസം തന്നേ.

16. a Day of the [shofar] and battle-cry against the fortified cities and against the high towers [[on the city walls]].

17. മനുഷ്യര് കുരുടന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നടക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും കഷ്ടത വരുത്തും; അവര് യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ; അവരുടെ രക്തം പൊടിപോലെയും അവരുടെ മാംസം കാഷ്ടംപോലെയും ചൊരിയും.

17. 'I will bring such distress on people that they will grope their way like the blind, because they have sinned against ADONAI. Their blood will be poured out like dust and their bowels like dung.

18. യഹോവയുടെ ക്രോധദിവസത്തില് അവരുടെ വെള്ളിക്കും പൊന്നിന്നും അവരെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല; സര്വ്വഭൂമിയും അവന്റെ തീക്ഷണതാഗ്നിക്കു ഇരയായ്തീരും; സകല ഭൂവാസികള്ക്കും അവന് ശീഘ്രസംഹാരം വരുത്തും.

18. Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them. On the day of ADONAI's fury, the whole land will be destroyed in the fire of his jealousy. For he will make an end, a horrible end, of all those living in the land.'
