1. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായി ആമോന്റെ മകനായ യോശീയാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു, ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ അമര്യ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ ഗെദല്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ കൂശിയുടെ മകനായ സെഫന്യാവിന്നുണ്ടായ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

1. The word of the Lord, that was maad to Sofonye, sone of Chusi, sone of Godolie, sone of Amasie, sone of Ezechie, in the daies of Josie, the sone of Amon, king of Juda.

2. ഞാന് ഭൂതലത്തില്നിന്നു സകലത്തെയും സംഹരിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

3. ഞാന് മനുഷ്യരെയും മൃഗങ്ങളെയും സംഹരിക്കും; ഞാന് ആകാശത്തിലെ പറവജാതിയെയും സമുദ്രത്തിലെ മത്സ്യങ്ങളെയും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ഇടര്ച്ചകളെയും സംഹരിക്കും; ഞാന് ഭൂതലത്തില് നിന്നു മനുഷ്യനെ ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

4. And Y schal stretche out myn hond on Juda, and on alle dwellers of Jerusalem; and Y schal lese fro this place the relifs of Baal, and the names of keperis of housis, with prestis;

5. മേല്പുരകളില് ആകാശത്തിലെ സൈന്യത്തെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നവരെയും യഹോവയെച്ചൊല്ലിയും മല്ക്കാമിനെച്ചൊല്ലിയും സത്യം ചെയ്തു നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നവരെയും യഹോവയെ വിട്ടു പിന്മാറിയവരെയും

6. യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കയോ അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു ചോദിക്കയോ ചെയ്യാത്തവരെയും ഛേദിച്ചുകളയും.

6. and whiche ben turned awei bihynde the bak of the Lord, and whiche `souyten not the Lord, nether enserchiden hym.

7. യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് മിണ്ടാതിരിക്ക; യഹോവയുടെ ദിവസം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവ ഒരു യാഗസദ്യ ഒരുക്കി താന് ക്ഷണിച്ചവരെ വിശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. Be ye stille fro the face of the Lord God, for niy is the dai of the Lord; for the Lord made redi a sacrifice, halewide hise clepid men.

8. എന്നാല് യഹോവയുടെ യാഗസദ്യയുള്ള ദിവസത്തില് ഞാന് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും രാജകുമാരന്മാരെയും അന്യദേശവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഏവരെയും സന്ദര്ശിക്കും.

8. And it schal be, in the dai of sacrifice of the Lord, Y schal visite on princes, and on sones of the kyng, and on alle that ben clothid with pilgrimys, ether straunge, clothing.

9. അന്നാളില് ഞാന് ഉമ്മരപ്പടി ചാടിക്കടക്കുന്ന ഏവരെയും സാഹസവും വഞ്ചനയുംകൊണ്ടു തങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്മാരുടെ വീടുകളെ നിറെക്കുന്നവരെയും സന്ദര്ശിക്കും.

9. And Y schal visite on ech that proudli entrith on the threisfold in that dai, whiche fillen the hous of her Lord God with wickidnesse and gile.

10. അന്നാളില് മത്സ്യഗോപുരത്തില്നിന്നു ഉറക്കെയുള്ളോരു നിലവിളിയും രണ്ടാമത്തെ നഗരാംശത്തില്നിന്നു ഒരു മുറവിളയും കുന്നുകളില്നിന്നു ഒരു ത്സടത്സടനാദവും ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

10. And ther schal be in that dai, seith the Lord, a vois of cry fro the yate of fischis, and yellynge fro the secounde yate, and greet defoulyng fro litle hillis.

11. മക്തേശ് നിവാസികളെ, മുറയിടുവിന് ; വ്യാപാരിജനം ഒക്കെയും നശിച്ചുപോയല്ലോ; സകല ദ്രവ്യവാഹകന്മാരും ഛേദിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. Yelle ye, dwelleris of Pila; al the puple of Canaan was stille togidere, alle men wlappid in siluer perischiden.

12. ആ കാലത്തു ഞാന് യെരൂശലേമിനെ വിളകൂ കത്തിച്ചു ശോധന കഴിക്കയും മട്ടിന്മേല് ഉറെച്ചുകിടന്നുയഹോവ ഗുണമോ ദോഷമോ ചെയ്കയില്ല എന്നു ഹൃദയത്തില് പറയുന്ന പുരുഷന്മാരെ സന്ദര്ശിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

12. And it schal be, in that tyme Y schal seke Jerusalem with lanternes, and Y schal visite on alle men piyt in her darstis, whiche seien in her hertis, The Lord schal not do wel, and he schal not do yuele.

13. അങ്ങനെ അവരുടെ സമ്പത്തു കവര്ച്ചയും അവരുടെ വീടുകള് ശൂന്യവും ആയ്തീരും; അവര് വീടു പണിയും, പാര്ക്കയില്ലതാനും; അവര് മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഉണ്ടാക്കും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കയില്ലതാനും.

13. And the strengthe of hem schal be in to rauyschyng, and the housis of hem in to desert; and thei schulen bilde housis, and schulen not enhabite; and thei schulen plaunte vyneyerdis, and thei schulen not drynke the wyn of hem.

14. യഹോവയുടെ മഹാദിവസം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു അടുത്തു അത്യന്തം ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടുവരുന്നു; കേട്ടോ യഹോവയുടെ ദിവസം! വീരന് അവിടെ കഠിനമായി നിലവിളിക്കുന്നു.

15. ആ ദിവസം ക്രോധദിവസം, കഷ്ടവും സങ്കടവും ഉള്ള ദിവസം, ശൂന്യതയും നാശവും ഉള്ള ദിവസം, ഇരുട്ടും അന്ധകാരവും ഉള്ള ദിവസം, മേഘവും മൂടലും ഉള്ള ദിവസം,

15. `The ilke dai is a dai of wraththe, dai of tribulacioun and angwisch, dai of nedynesse and wretchidnesse, dai of derknessis and myist, dai of cloude and whirlewynd,

16. ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങള്ക്കും ഉയരമുള്ള കൊത്തളങ്ങള്ക്കും വിരോധമായി കാഹളനാദവും ആരവവും ഉള്ള ദിവസം തന്നേ.

17. മനുഷ്യര് കുരുടന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നടക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും കഷ്ടത വരുത്തും; അവര് യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ; അവരുടെ രക്തം പൊടിപോലെയും അവരുടെ മാംസം കാഷ്ടംപോലെയും ചൊരിയും.

17. And Y schal troble men, and thei schulen walke as blynde, for thei han synned ayens the Lord; and the blood of hem schal be sched out as erthe, and the bodies of hem schulen be as tordis.

18. യഹോവയുടെ ക്രോധദിവസത്തില് അവരുടെ വെള്ളിക്കും പൊന്നിന്നും അവരെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല; സര്വ്വഭൂമിയും അവന്റെ തീക്ഷണതാഗ്നിക്കു ഇരയായ്തീരും; സകല ഭൂവാസികള്ക്കും അവന് ശീഘ്രസംഹാരം വരുത്തും.

18. But and the siluer of hem, and gold of hem, schal not mowe delyuere hem in the dai of wraththe of the Lord; in fier of his feruour al erthe schal be deuourid, for he schal make ende with haastyng to alle men enhabitynge the erthe.
