1. അവന് മലയില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവന്നാറെ വളരെ പുരുഷാരം അവനെ പിന് തുടര്ന്നു.

1. After he had come down from the mountain large crowds followed him.

2. അപ്പോള് ഒരു കുഷ്ഠരോഗി വന്നു അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു കര്ത്താവേ, നിനക്കു മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കില് എന്നെ ശുദ്ധമാക്കുവാന് കഴിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. Suddenly a man with a virulent skin-disease came up and bowed low in front of him, saying, 'Lord, if you are willing, you can cleanse me.'

3. അവന് കൈ നീട്ടി അവനെ തൊട്ടു“എനിക്കു മനസ്സുണ്ടു; നീ ശുദ്ധമാക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ഉടനെ കുഷ്ഠം മാറി അവന് ശുദ്ധമായി.

3. Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him saying, 'I am willing. Be cleansed.' And his skin-disease was cleansed at once.

4. യേശു അവനോടു“നോകൂ, ആരോടും പറയരുതു; അവര്ക്കും സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്നായി നീ ചെന്നു നിന്നെത്തന്നേ പുരോഹിതന്നു കാണിച്ചു, മോശെ കല്പിച്ച വഴിപാടു കഴിക്ക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Then Jesus said to him, 'Mind you tell no one, but go and show yourself to the priest and make the offering prescribed by Moses, as evidence to them.'

5. When he went into Capernaum a centurion came up and pleaded with him.

6. കര്ത്താവേ, എന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരന് പക്ഷവാതം പിടിച്ചു കഠിനമായി വേദനപ്പെട്ടു വീട്ടില് കിടക്കുന്നു എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. 'Sir,' he said, 'my servant is lying at home paralysed and in great pain.'

7. അവന് അവനോടു“ഞാന് വന്നു അവനെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.”

7. Jesus said to him, 'I will come myself and cure him.'

8. അതിന്നു ശതാധിപന് കര്ത്താവേ, നീ എന്റെ പുരെക്കകത്തു വരുവാന് ഞാന് യോഗ്യനല്ല; ഒരു വാക്കുമാത്രം കല്പിച്ചാല് എന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരന്നു സൌഖ്യം വരും.

8. The centurion replied, 'Sir, I am not worthy to have you under my roof; just give the word and my servant will be cured.

9. ഞാനും അധികാരത്തിന് കീഴുള്ള മനുഷ്യന് ആകുന്നു. എന്റെ കീഴില് പടയാളികള് ഉണ്ടു; ഞാന് ഒരുവനോടുപോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല് പോകുന്നു; മറ്റൊരുത്തനോടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല് വരുന്നു; എന്റെ ദാസനോടുഇതു ചെയ്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല് അവന് ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

9. For I am under authority myself and have soldiers under me; and I say to one man, 'Go,' and he goes; to another, 'Come here,' and he comes; to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it.'

10. അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു യേശു അതിശയിച്ചു, പിന് ചെല്ലുന്നവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു“യിസ്രായേലില്കൂടെ ഇത്ര വലിയ വിശ്വാസം കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് സത്യമായിട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

10. When Jesus heard this he was astonished and said to those following him, 'In truth I tell you, in no one in Israel have I found faith as great as this.

11. കിഴക്കുനിന്നും പടിഞ്ഞാറുനിന്നും അനേകര് വന്നു അബ്രാഹാമിനോടും യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടും യാക്കോബിനോടും കൂടെ സ്വര്ഗ്ഗരാജ്യത്തില് പന്തിക്കിരിക്കും.

11. And I tell you that many will come from east and west and sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob at the feast in the kingdom of Heaven;

12. രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരേയോ ഏറ്റവും പുറത്തുള്ള ഇരുളിലേക്കു തള്ളിക്കളയും; അവിടെ കരച്ചലും പല്ലുകടിയും ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.”

12. but the children of the kingdom will be thrown out into the darkness outside, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.'

13. പിന്നെ യേശു ശതാധിപനോടു“പോക, നീ വിശ്വസിച്ചതു പോലെ നിനക്കു ഭവിക്കട്ടെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അ നാഴികയില് തന്നേ അവന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരന്നു സൌഖ്യം വന്നു.

13. And to the centurion Jesus said, 'Go back, then; let this be done for you, as your faith demands.' And the servant was cured at that moment.

14. യേശു പത്രോസിന്റെ വീട്ടില് വന്നാറെ അവന്റെ അമ്മാവിയമ്മ പനിപിടിച്ചു കിടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

14. And going into Peter's house Jesus found Peter's mother-in-law in bed and feverish.

15. അവന് അവളുടെ കൈതൊട്ടു പനി അവളെ വിട്ടു; അവള് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവര്ക്കും ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തു.

15. He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to serve him.

16. വൈകുന്നേരം ആയപ്പോള് പല ഭൂതഗ്രസ്തരെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവന് വാക്കുകൊണ്ടു ദുരാത്മാക്കളെ പുറത്താക്കി സകലദീനക്കാര്ക്കും സൌഖ്യം വരുത്തി.

16. That evening they brought him many who were possessed by devils. He drove out the spirits with a command and cured all who were sick.

17. അവന് നമ്മുടെ ബലഹീനതകളെ എടുത്തു വ്യാധികളെ ചുമന്നു എന്നു യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന് പറഞ്ഞതു നിവൃത്തിയാകുവാന് തന്നേ.

17. This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: He himself bore our sicknesses away and carried our diseases.

18. എന്നാല് യേശു തന്റെ ചുറ്റും വളരെ പുരുഷാരത്തെ കണ്ടാറെ അക്കരെക്കു പോകുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

18. When Jesus saw the crowd all about him he gave orders to leave for the other side.

19. അന്നു ഒരു ശാസ്ത്രി അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുഗുരോ, നീ എവിടെ പോയാലും ഞാന് നിന്നെ അനുഗമിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. One of the scribes then came up and said to him, 'Master, I will follow you wherever you go.'

20. യേശു അവനോടു“കുറുനരികള്ക്കു കുഴികളും ആകാശത്തിലെ പറവകള്ക്കു കൂടുകളും ഉണ്ടു; മനുഷ്യപുത്രന്നോ തലചായിപ്പാന് ഇടം ഇല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.”

20. Jesus said, 'Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.'

21. ശിഷ്യന്മാരില് വേറൊരുത്തന് അവനോടുകര്ത്താവേ, ഞാന് മുമ്പെപോയി എന്റെ അപ്പനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്വാന് അനുവാദം തരേണം എന്നുപറഞ്ഞു.

21. Another man, one of the disciples, said to him, 'Lord, let me go and bury my father first.'

22. യേശു അവനോടു“നീ എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരിക; മരിച്ചവര് തങ്ങളുടെ മരിച്ചവരെ അടക്കം ചെയ്യട്ടെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. But Jesus said, 'Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their dead.'

23. അവന് ഒരു പടകില് കയറിയപ്പോള് അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് കൂടെ ചെന്നു.

23. Then he got into the boat followed by his disciples.

24. പിന്നെ കടലില് വലിയ ഔളം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടു പടകു തിരകളാല് മുങ്ങുമാറായി; അവനോ ഉറങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു.

24. Suddenly a storm broke over the lake, so violent that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But he was asleep.

25. അവര് അടുത്തുചെന്നുകര്ത്താവേ രക്ഷിക്കേണമേഞങ്ങള് നശിച്ചുപോകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ഉണര്ത്തി.

25. So they went to him and woke him saying, 'Save us, Lord, we are lost!'

26. അവന് അവരോടു“അല്പവിശ്വാസികളെ, നിങ്ങള് ഭീരുക്കള് ആകുവാന് എന്തു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞശേഷം എഴുന്നേറ്റു കാറ്റിനെയും കടലിനെയും ശാസിച്ചപ്പോള് വലിയ ശാന്തതയുണ്ടായി.

26. And he said to them, 'Why are you so frightened, you who have so little faith?' And then he stood up and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

27. എന്നാറെ ആ മനുഷ്യര് അതിശയിച്ചുഇവന് എങ്ങനെയുള്ളവന് ? കാറ്റും കടലും കൂടെ ഇവനെ അനുസരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. They were astounded and said, 'Whatever kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?'

28. അവന് അക്കരെ ഗദരേനരുടെ ദേശത്തു എത്തിയാറെ രണ്ടു ഭൂതഗ്രസ്തര് ശവക്കല്ലറകളില് നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്നു എതിരെ വന്നു; അവര് അത്യുഗ്രന്മാര് ആയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ആര്ക്കും ആ വഴി നടന്നുകൂടാഞ്ഞു.

28. When he reached the territory of the Gadarenes on the other side, two demoniacs came towards him out of the tombs -- they were so dangerously violent that nobody could use that path.

29. അവര് നിലവിളിച്ചുദൈവപുത്രാ, ഞങ്ങള്ക്കും നിനക്കും തമ്മില് എന്തു? സമയത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ ഞങ്ങളെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിപ്പാന് ഇവിടെ വന്നുവോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

29. Suddenly they shouted, 'What do you want with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torture us before the time?'

30. അവര്ക്കകലെ ഒരു വലിയ പന്നിക്കൂട്ടം മേഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

30. Now some distance away there was a large herd of pigs feeding,

31. ഭൂതങ്ങള് അവനോടുഞങ്ങളെ പുറത്താക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് പന്നിക്കൂട്ടത്തിലേക്കു അയക്കേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു

31. and the devils pleaded with Jesus, 'If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.'

32. “പൊയ്ക്കൊള്വിന് ” എന്നു അവന് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു; അവര് പുറപ്പെട്ടു പന്നികളിലേക്കു ചെന്നു; ആ കൂട്ടം എല്ലാം കടുന്തൂക്കത്തൂടെ കടലിലേക്കു പാഞ്ഞു വെള്ളത്തില് മുങ്ങി ചത്തു.

32. And he said to them, 'Go then,' and they came out and made for the pigs; and at that the whole herd charged down the cliff into the lake and perished in the water.

33. മേയക്കുന്നവര് ഔടി പട്ടണത്തില് ചെന്നു സകലവും ഭൂതഗ്രസ്ഥരുടെ വസ്തുതയും അറിയിച്ചു.

33. The herdsmen ran off and made for the city, where they told the whole story, including what had happened to the demoniacs.

34. ഉടനെ പട്ടണം എല്ലാം പുറപ്പെട്ടു യേശുവിന്നു എതിരെ ചെന്നു; അവനെ കണ്ടാറെ തങ്ങളുടെ അതിര് വിട്ടു പോകേണമെന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

34. Suddenly the whole city set out to meet Jesus; and as soon as they saw him they implored him to leave their neighbourhood.
