1. സഹോദരന്മാരും പിതാക്കന്മാരുമായുള്ളോരേ, എനിക്കു ഇന്നു നിങ്ങളോടുള്ള പ്രതിവാദം കേട്ടുകൊള്വിന് .

1. Men, brothers, and fathers, hear my defense now to you.

2. എന്നാല് എബ്രായഭാഷയില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു കേട്ടിട്ടു അവര് അധികം മൌനമായി നിന്നു. അവന് പറങ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

2. And hearing that he spoke in the Hebrew dialect to them, they showed more quietness. And he said:

3. ഞാന് കിലിക്യയവിലെ തര്സൊസില് ജനച്ച യെഹൂദനും ഈ നഗരത്തില് വളര്ന്നു ഗമാലിയേലിന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് ഇരുന്നു പിതാക്കനാരുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം സൂക്ഷ്മതയോടെ അഭ്യസിച്ചവനുമാകയാല് നിങ്ങള് എല്ലാവരും ഇന്നു ഇരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ദൈവസ്വേയില് എരിവുള്ളവനായിരുന്നു.

3. Indeed I am a man, a Jew having been born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but having been brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, having been trained according to the exactness of the ancestral law, being a zealous one of God, even as you all are today.

4. ഞാന് പുരുഷന്മാരെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും പിടിച്ചു കെട്ടി തടവില് ഏല്പിച്ചും ഈ മാര്ഗ്ഗക്കാരെ കൊല്ലുവാനും മടി.ാതെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ചുംവന്നു.

4. I persecuted this Way as far as death, binding and delivering up both men and women to prisons,

5. അതിന്നു മഹാപുരോഹിതരും മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെ സംഘം ഒക്കെയും എനിക്കു സാക്ഷികള്; അവരോടു സഹോദരന്മാര്ക്കായി എഴുത്തു വാങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടു ദമസ്കൊസില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നവരെയും പിടിച്ചുകെട്ടി ദണ്ഡനത്തിന്നായി യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവരേണ്ടതിന്നു ങാന് അവിടേക്കു യാത്രയായി.

5. as also the high priest and all the elderhood witnesses to me. And receiving letters from them to the brothers, I traveled into Damascus even to lead those to Jerusalem being bound there, in order that they might be punished.

6. അങ്ങനെ പ്രയാണം ചെയ്തു ദമസ്കൊസിനോടു അടുത്തപ്പോള് ഏകദേശം ഉച്ചെക്കു പെട്ടെന്നു ആകശത്തുനിന്നു വലിയോരു വെളിച്ചം എന്റെ ചുറ്റും മിന്നി.

6. And it happened to me, traveling and drawing near to Damascus: suddenly, about midday, a great light out of the heaven shone around me.

7. ഞാന് നിലത്തു വീണുശൌലേ, ശൌലെ, നീ എന്നെ ഉപദ്രവിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു എന്നോടു പറയുന്ന ഒരു ശബ്ദം കേട്ടു.

7. And I fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to me, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?

8. ഖരത്താവോ, നീ ആര് എന്നു ഞാന് ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുനീ ഉപദ്രവിക്കുന്ന നസറായനായ യേശു ആകുന്നു ഞാന് എന്നു അവന് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And I answered, Who are you, Sir? And He said to me, I am Jesus the Nazarene whom you persecute.

9. എന്നോടു കൂടെയുള്ളവര് വെളിച്ചം കണ്ടു എങ്കിലും എന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നവന്റെ ശബ്ദം കേട്ടില്ല.

9. But those being with me indeed saw the light, and were alarmed, but did not hear His voice speaking to me.

10. കര്ത്താവേ ഞാന് എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചുതിന്നു കര്ത്താവു എന്നോടു; എഴുന്നേറ്റു ദമസ്കൊസിലേക്കു പോക; നീ ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു വിധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതെല്ലാം അവിടെ നിന്നോടു പറയും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

10. And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said to me, Rising up, go into Damascus, and there you will be told about all things which are appointed to you to do.

11. ആ വെളിച്ചത്തിന്റെ തേജസ്സു ഹേതുവായിട്ടു കണ്ണു കാണായ്കയാല് കൂടെയുള്ളവര് എന്നെ കൈകൂ പിടിച്ചു നടത്തി; അങ്ങനെ ഞാന് ദമസ്കൊസില് എത്തി.

11. And as I did not see, from the glory of that light, being led by the hand by those being with me, I went into Damascus.

12. അവിടെ പാര്ക്കുംന്ന സകല യെഹൂദന്മാരാലും നല്ല സാക്ഷ്യം കൊണ്ടവനായി ന്യായപ്രമാണപ്രകാരം ഭക്തിയുള്ള പുരുഷനായ അനന്യാസ് എന്നൊരുത്തന് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുനിന്നു;

12. And a certain Ananias, a devout man according to the Law, having been testified to by all the Jews living there,

13. സഹോദരനായ ശൌലെ, കാഴ്ചപ്രാപിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ആ നാഴികയില് തന്നേ ഞാന് കാഴ്ച പ്രാപിച്ചു അവനെ കണ്ടു.

13. coming to me and standing by, he said to me, Brother Saul, look up. And in the same hour I looked up on him.

14. അപ്പോള് അവന് എന്നോടുനമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവം നിന്നെ തന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം അറിവാനും നീതിമാനായവനെ കാണ്മാനും അവന്റെ വായില് നിന്നും വചന് കേള്പ്പാനും നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന.

14. And he said, The God of our fathers appointed you to know His will, and to see the Just One, and to hear a voice out of His mouth;

15. നീ കാണ്കയും കേള്ക്കയും ചെയ്തതിന്നു സകലമനുഷ്യര്ക്കും നീ അവന്റെ സാക്ഷിയായിത്തീരും.

15. for you shall be a witness for Him to all men of what you have seen and heard.

16. ഇനി താമസിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവന്റെ നാം വിളിച്ചു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു നിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ കഴുകിക്കളക എന്നു പറഞഞു.

16. And now what do you intend? Rising up, be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

17. പിന്നെ ഞാന് യെരൂശലേമില് മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു ദൈവാലയത്തില് പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കുന്നേരം ഒരു വിവശതയില് ആയി അവനെ കണ്ടു

17. And it happened to me, returning to Jerusalem and praying in the temple: I became in an ecstasy,

18. ന് ി ബധ്ദപ്പെട്ടു വേഗം യെരൂശലേം വിട്ടുപോക; നീ എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു പറയുന്ന സാക്ഷ്യം അവര് കൈക്കൊള്കയില്ല എന്നു എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചു

18. and I saw Him saying to me, Hurry and go out quickly from Jerusalem, because they will not receive your testimony concerning Me.

19. അതിന്നു ഞാന് കര്ത്താവേ, നിന്നില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവരെ ഞാന് നടവില് ആക്കുകയും പള്ളിതോറും അടിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്തു എന്നും

19. And I said, Lord, they understand that I was imprisoning and beating the ones believing on You throughout the synagogues.

20. നിന്റെ സാക്ഷിയായ സ്തെഫാനൊസിന്റെ രക്തം ചൊരിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് ഞാനും സമ്മതിച്ചു അരികെ നിന്നു അവനെ കൊല്ലുന്നവരുടെ വസ്ത്രം കാത്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു എന്നും അവന് അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. And when the blood of Your witness Stephen was poured out, I myself also was standing by and consenting to his execution, and holding the garments of those killing him.

21. അവന് എന്നോടുനീ പോക; ഞാന് നിന്നെ ദൂരത്തു ജാതികളുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു അയക്കും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

21. And He said to me, Go, for I will send you to the nations afar off.

22. ഈ വാക്കോളം അവര് അവന്നു ചെവികൊടുത്തു; പിന്നെഇങ്ങനെത്തവനെ ഭൂമിയില്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളക; അവന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു യോഗ്യമല്ല എന്നു നിലവിളിച് പറഞ്ഞു.

22. And they heard him until this word, and lifted up their voice, saying, Take such a one from the earth, for it is not fitting that he should live!

23. അവര് കൂക്കലിട്ടും വസ്ത്രം കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞും പൂഴി വാരി മേലോട്ടു എറിഞ്ഞും കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള്

23. And they shouting, and tearing the garments, and throwing dust into the air,

24. അവര് ഇങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ നേരെ ആര്ക്കുംവാന് സംഗതി എന്തു എന്നു അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ടു അവനോടു ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു സഹസ്രാധിപന് പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ കോട്ടയിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

24. the chiliarch ordered to bring him into the fortress, saying for him to be examined with scourges, that he may know for what crime they cried out so against him.

25. തന്നെ വാറു കൊണ്ടു കെട്ടുമ്പോള് പൌലൊസ് അരികെ നിലക്കുന്ന ശതാധിപനോടുറോമപൌരനും വിസ്താരം കഴിയാത്തവനുമായ മനുഷ്യനെ ചമ്മട്ടി കൊണ്ടു അടിക്കുന്നതു വിഹിതമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

25. But as they stretched him with the thongs, Paul said to the centurion standing by, Is it lawful for you to flog a man, a Roman not found guilty?

26. ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടു ശതാധിപന് ചെന്നു സഹസ്രാധിപനോടുനീ എന്തു ചെയ്വാന് പോകുന്നു? ഈ മനുഷ്യന് റോമപൌരന് ആകുന്നു എന്നു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

26. And hearing, coming near the centurion reported to the chiliarch, saying, Watch what you are about to do, for this man is a Roman.

27. സഹസ്രാധിപന് വന്നുനീ റോമപൌരന് തന്നേയോ? എന്നോടു പറക എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു

27. And coming up, the chiliarch said to him, Tell me, are you a Roman? And he said, Yes.

28. അതെ എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാന് ഏറിയ മുതല് കൊടുത്തു ഈ പൌരത്വം സമ്പാദിച്ചു എന്നു സഹസ്രാധിപന് പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഞാനോ അങ്ങനെ ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പൌലൊസ് പറഞ്ഞു.

28. And the chiliarch answered, I bought this citizenship with a great sum. And Paul said, But I even was born free.

29. ഭേദ്യം ചെയ്വാന് ഭാവിച്ചവര് ഉടനെ അവനെ വിട്ടുമാറി; സഹസ്രാധിപനും അവന് റോമപൌരന് എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് അവനെ ബന്ധിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

29. Then at once those being about to examine him stood away from him. And the chiliarch also feared, fully knowing that he was a Roman, and that he had bound him.

30. പിറ്റെന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാര് പൌലൊസിന്മേല് ചുമത്തുന്ന കുറ്റത്തിന്റെ സൂക്ഷമം അറിവാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ന്യായാധിപ സംഘം ഒക്കെയും കൂടി വരുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു അവനെ കെട്ടഴിച്ചു താഴെ കൊണടുചെന്നു അവരുടെ മുമ്പില് നിറുത്തി.

30. And on the morrow, desiring to know the certainty as to why he was accused by the Jews, he freed him from the bonds. And he commanded the chief priests and all their sanhedrin to come. And having brought Paul down, he set him among them.
