1. എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള് പാപം ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാന് ഞാന് ഇതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു. ഒരുത്തന് പാപം ചെയ്തു എങ്കിലോ, നീതിമാനായ യേശുക്രിസ്തു എന്ന കാര്യ്യസ്ഥന് നമുക്കു പിതാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഉണ്ടു.

1. My dear children! these things, am I writing unto you, in order that ye may not be committing sin. And, if anyone should commit sin, an Advocate, have we, with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Righteous;

2. അവന് നമ്മുടെ പാപങ്ങള്ക്കു പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം ആകുന്നു; നമ്മുടേതിന്നു മാത്രം അല്ല, സര്വ്വലോകത്തിന്റെ പാപത്തിന്നും തന്നേ.

2. And, he, is, a propitiation, concerning our sins, and, not concerning our own only, but, also concerning those of the whole world.

3. അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നാം അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അതിനാല് അറിയുന്നു.

3. And, hereby, perceive we, that we understand him, if, his commandments, we are keeping.

4. അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറകയും അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് കള്ളന് ആകുന്നു; സത്യം അവനില് ഇല്ല.

4. He that saith I understand him! And, his commandments, is not keeping, is false, and, in him, the truth is not!

5. എന്നാല് ആരെങ്കിലും അവന്റെ വചനം പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് അവനില് ദൈവസ്നേഹം വാസ്തവമായി തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. നാം അവനില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഇതിനാല് നമുക്കു അറിയാം.

5. But whosoever may be keeping his word, of a truth, in this man, the love of God hath been made perfect. Hereby, perceive we, that, in him, we are.

6. അവനില് വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നവന് അവന് നടന്നതുപോലെ നടക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

6. He that saith, that, in him, he abideth, ought, just as He walked, himself also, to be walking.

7. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, പുതിയോരു കല്പനയല്ല ആദിമുതല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കുള്ള പഴയ കല്പനയത്രേ ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നതു. ആ പഴയ കല്പന നിങ്ങള് കേട്ട വചനം തന്നേ.

7. Beloved! no new commandment, am I writing unto you; but an old commandment, which ye have been holding from the beginning: The old commandment is the word which ye have heard.

8. പുതിയോരു കല്പന ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു എന്നും പറയാം. അതു അവനിലും നിങ്ങളിലും സത്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുട്ടു നീങ്ങിപോകുന്നു; സത്യവെളിച്ചം ഇതാ പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു.

8. Again, a new commandment, am I writing unto you, which thing is true, in him and in you, because, the darkness, is passing away, and, the real light, already is shining.

9. വെളിച്ചത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറകയും സഹോദരനെ പകെക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ഇന്നെയോളം ഇരുട്ടില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

9. He that saith he is, in the light, and hateth, his brother, is, in the darkness, until even now!

10. സഹോദരനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവന് വെളിച്ചത്തില് വസിക്കുന്നു; ഇടര്ച്ചെക്കു അവനില് കാരണമില്ല.

10. He that loveth his brother, is abiding, in the light, and, cause of stumbling, in him, is there none.

11. സഹോദരനെ പകെക്കുന്നവനോ ഇരുട്ടില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുട്ടില് നടക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇരുട്ടു അവന്റെ കണ്ണു കുരുടാക്കുകയാല് എവിടേക്കു പോകുന്നു എന്നു അവന് അറിയുന്നില്ല.

11. Whereas, he that hateth his brother, in the darkness, dwelleth, and in the darkness, walketh; and knoweth not whither he is drifting, because the, darkness, hath blinded his eyes.

12. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അവന്റെ നാമം നിമിത്തം പാപങ്ങള് മോചിച്ചിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു.

12. I write unto you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven you, for the sake of his name:

13. പിതാക്കന്മാരേ, ആദിമുതലുള്ളവനെ നിങ്ങള് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു. ബാല്യക്കാരേ, നിങ്ങള് ദുഷ്ടനെ ജയിച്ചിരിക്കയാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുന്നു. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള് പിതാവിനെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. I write unto you, fathers, because ye understand him who was from the beginning: I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I have written unto you, little children, because ye understand the Father:

14. പിതാക്കന്മാരേ, ആദിമുതലുള്ളവനെ നിങ്ങള് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ബാല്യക്കാരേ, നിങ്ങള് ശക്തരാകയാലും ദൈവവചനം നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കയാലും നിങ്ങള് ദുഷ്ടനെ ജയിച്ചിരിക്കയാലും ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. I have written unto you, fathers, because ye understand him who was from the beginning: I have written you, young men, because ye are, strong, and the word of God, within you, abideth, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

15. ലോകത്തെയും ലോകത്തിലുള്ളതിനെയും സ്നേഹിക്കരുതു. ഒരുവന് ലോകത്തെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവനില് പിതാവിന്റെ സ്നേഹം ഇല്ല.

15. Be not loving the world, nor yet the things that are in the world: if anyone be loving the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16. ജഡമോഹം, കണ്മോഹം, ജീവനത്തിന്റെ പ്രതാപം ഇങ്ങനെ ലോകത്തിലുള്ളതു എല്ലാം പിതാവില്നിന്നല്ല, ലോകത്തില്നിന്നത്രേ ആകുന്നു.

16. Because, all that is in the world the coveting of the flesh, the coveting of the eyes, and the vain grandeur of life is not of the Father, but is, of the world;

17. ലോകവും അതിന്റെ മോഹവും ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു; ദൈവേഷ്ടം ചെയ്യുന്നവനോ എന്നേക്കും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

17. And, the world, passeth away, and the coveting thereof , but, he that doeth the will of God, endureth unto times age-abiding.

18. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, ഇതു അന്ത്യനാഴിക ആകുന്നു; എതിര്ക്രിസ്തു വരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ. ഇപ്പോള് അനേകം എതിര്ക്രിസ്തുക്കള് എഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കയാല് അന്ത്യനാഴിക ആകുന്നു എന്നു നമുക്കു അറിയാം.

18. Little children! it is, the last hour; and, just as ye have heard that, an antichrist, is coming, even now, antichrists have become, many, whence we perceive that it is, the last hour:

19. അവര് നമ്മുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു എങ്കിലും നമുക്കുള്ളവര് ആയിരുന്നില്ല; അവര് നമുക്കുള്ളവര് ആയിരുന്നു എങ്കില് നമ്മോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്കുംമായിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് എല്ലാവരും നമുക്കുള്ളവരല്ല എന്നു പ്രസിദ്ധമാകേണ്ടതല്ലോ.

19. From among us, they went out, but they were not of us; for, if, of us, they had been, they would in that case have abode with us; but it came to pass in order that they might be made manifest, because, all, are not of us.

20. നിങ്ങളോ പരിശുദ്ധനാല് അഭിഷേകം പ്രാപിച്ചു സകലവും അറിയുന്നു.

20. And, ye, have, an anointing, from the Holy One, Ye all, know:

21. നിങ്ങള് സത്യം അറിയായ്കകൊണ്ടല്ല, നിങ്ങള് അതു അറികയാലും ഭോഷകു ഒന്നും സത്യത്തില്നിന്നു വരായ്കയാലുമത്രേ ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു.

21. I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and because, no falsehood, is, of the truth.

22. യേശുവിനെ ക്രിസ്തുവല്ല എന്നു നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവന് അല്ലാതെ കള്ളന് ആര് ആകുന്നു? പിതാവിനെയും പുത്രനെയും നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവന് തന്നേ എതിര്ക്രിസ്തു ആകുന്നു.

22. Who, is the False One; save he that denieth that, Jesus, is the Christ? The same, is the Antichrist, he that denieth the Father and the Son.

23. പുത്രനെ നിഷേധിക്കുന്നവന്നു പിതാവുമില്ല; പുത്രനെ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നവനു പിതാവും ഉണ്ടു.

23. Whosoever denieth the Son, neither hath he, the Father: He that confesseth the Son, hath, the Father also.

24. നിങ്ങള് ആദിമുതല് കേട്ടതു നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കട്ടെ. ആദിമുതല് കേട്ടതു നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നിങ്ങള് പുത്രനിലും പിതാവിലും വസിക്കും.

24. As for you, what ye have heard from the beginning, in you, let it abide. If, in you, shall abide, that which, from the beginning, ye have heard, ye also, in the Son, and in the Father, shall abide.

25. ഇതാകുന്നു അവന് നമുക്കു തന്ന വാഗ്ദത്തംനിത്യജീവന് തന്നേ.

25. And, this, is the promise, which he hath promised unto us, The age-abiding life.

26. നിങ്ങളെ തെറ്റിക്കുന്നവരെ ഔര്ത്തു ഞാന് ഇതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. These things, have I written unto you, concerning them who would lead you astray.

27. അവനാല് പ്രാപിച്ച അഭിഷേകം നിങ്ങളില് വസിക്കുന്നു; ആരും നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിപ്പാന് ആവശ്യമില്ല; അവന്റെ അഭിഷേകം തന്നേ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സകലവും ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരികയാലും അതു ഭോഷ്കല്ല സത്യം തന്നേ ആയിരിക്കയാലും അതു നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിച്ചതുപോലെ നിങ്ങള് അവനില് വസിപ്പിന് .

27. And, as for you, the anointing which ye have received from him, abideth in you, and ye have, no need, that anyone be teaching you; but, as, his anointing, is teaching you, and is, true, and is no falsehood, even just as it hath taught you, abide ye in him.

28. ഇനിയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, അവന് പ്രത്യക്ഷനാകുമ്പോള് നാം അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകാതെ അവന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയില് നമുക്കു ധൈര്യ്യം ഉണ്ടാകേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനില് വസിപ്പിന് .

28. And, now, dear children, abide ye in him, in order that, if he be made manifest, we may have boldness, and not be shamed away from him by his presence.

29. അവന് നീതിമാന് എന്നു നിങ്ങള് ഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നീതി ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ഒക്കെയും അവനില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നു.

29. If ye know that he is, righteous, ye perceive that whosoever doeth righteousness, of him, hath been born.
