1. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, കള്ളപ്രവാചകന്മാര് പലരും ലോകത്തിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കയാല് ഏതു ആത്മാവിനെയും വിശ്വസിക്കാതെ ആത്മാക്കള് ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നുള്ളവയോ എന്നു ശോധന ചെയ്വിന് .

1. Dearly beleued, beleue not ye euery sprete, but proue the spretes, whether they be of God. For many false prophetes are gone out in to the worlde.

2. ദൈവാത്മാവിനെ ഇതിനാല് അറിയാം; യേശുക്രിസ്തു ജഡത്തില് വന്നു എന്നു സ്വീകരിക്കുന്ന ആത്മാവൊക്കെയും ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നുള്ളതു.

2. Hereby shal ye knowe the sprete of God: Euery sprete which confesseth, that Iesus Christ is come in the flesh, is of God:

3. യേശുവിനെ സ്വീകരിക്കാത്ത യാതൊരു ആത്മാവും ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നുള്ളതല്ല. അതു എതിര്ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ആത്മാവു തന്നേ; അതു വരും എന്നു നിങ്ങള് കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ; അതു ഇപ്പോള് തന്നേ ലോകത്തില് ഉണ്ടു.

3. And euery sprete which confesseth not that Iesus Christ is come in the flesh, is not off God. And this is that sprete of Antechrist, off whom ye haue herde, how that he shal come, and euen now allready is he in the worlde.

4. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള് ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നുള്ളവര് ആകുന്നു; അവരെ ജയിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങളിലുള്ളവന് ലോകത്തില് ഉള്ളവനെക്കാള് വലിയവനല്ലോ.

4. Litle children, ye are off God, and haue ouercome them: for greater is he that is in you, then he that is in the worlde.

5. അവര് ലൌകികന്മാര് ആകയാല് ലൌകികമായതു സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; ലോകം അവരുടെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കുന്നു.

5. They are off the worlde, therfore speake they off the worlde, and the worlde herkeneth vnto them.

6. ഞങ്ങള് ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നുള്ളവരാകുന്നു; ദൈവത്തെ അറിയുന്നവന് ഞങ്ങളുടെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കുന്നു. ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നല്ലാത്തവന് ഞങ്ങളുടെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കുന്നില്ല. സത്യത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു ഏതു എന്നും വഞ്ചനയുടെ ആത്മാവു ഏതു എന്നും നമുക്കു ഇതിനാല് അറിയാം.

6. We are of God, and he that knoweth God, herkeneth vnto vs: he that is not of God, heareth vs not. Here by knowe we the sprete of trueth, and ye sprete of erroure.

7. പ്രയമുള്ളവരേ, നാം അന്യോന്യം സ്നേഹിക്ക; സ്നേഹം ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നു വരുന്നു. സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവനെല്ലാം ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു, ദൈവത്തെ അറികയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

7. Dearly beloued, let vs loue one another, for loue commeth of God. And euery one yt loueth, is borne of God, and knoweth God.

8. സ്നേഹിക്കാത്തവന് ദൈവത്തെ അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല; ദൈവം സ്നേഹം തന്നേ.

8. He that loueth not, knoweth not God: for God is loue.

9. ദൈവം തന്റെ ഏകജാതനായ പുത്രനെ നാം അവനാല് ജീവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ലോകത്തിലേക്കു അയച്ചു എന്നുള്ളതിനാല് ദൈവത്തിന്നു നമ്മോടുള്ള സ്നേഹം പ്രത്യക്ഷമായി.

9. By this appeared the loue of God to vs warde, because that God sent his onely begotten sonne in to this worlde, that we mighte lyue thorow him.

10. നാം ദൈവത്തെ സ്നേഹിച്ചതല്ല, അവന് നമ്മെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു തന്റെ പുത്രനെ നമ്മുടെ പാപങ്ങള്ക്കു പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം ആകുവാന് അയച്ചതു തന്നേ സാക്ഷാല് സ്നേഹം ആകുന്നു.

10. Herein is loue, not that we loued God, but that he loued vs, and sent his sonne to make agremet for oure synnes.

11. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, ദൈവം നമ്മെ ഇങ്ങനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു എങ്കില് നാമും അന്യോന്യം സ്നേഹിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

11. Dearly beloued, yf God so loued vs, we oughte also to loue one another.

12. ദൈവത്തെ ആരും ഒരുനാളും കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല. നാം അന്യേന്യം സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് ദൈവം നമ്മില് വസിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ സ്നേഹം നമ്മില് തികഞ്ഞുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. No man hath sene God at eny tyme. Yf we loue one another, God dwelleth in vs, and his loue is perfecte in vs.

13. നാം അവനിലും അവന് നമ്മിലും വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവന് തന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ തന്നതിനാല് നാം അറിയുന്നു.

13. Hereby knowe we that we dwell in him, and he in vs, because he hath geuen vs of his sprete.

14. പിതാവു പുത്രനെ ലോകരക്ഷിതാവായിട്ടു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് കണ്ടു സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നു.

14. And we haue sene, & testifye that the father sent the sonne to be the Sauioure of the worlde.

15. യേശു ദൈവപുത്രന് എന്നു സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നവനില് ദൈവവും അവന് ദൈവത്തിലും വസിക്കുന്നു.

15. Whosoeuer now confesseth yt Iesus is the sonne of God in him dwelleth God, and he in God:

16. ഇങ്ങനെ ദൈവത്തിന്നു നമ്മോടുള്ള സ്നേഹത്തെ നാം അറിഞ്ഞും വിശ്വസിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു. ദൈവം സ്നേഹം തന്നേ; സ്നേഹത്തില് വസിക്കുന്നവന് ദൈവത്തില് വസിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവം അവനിലും വസിക്കുന്നു.

16. and we haue knowne and beleued the loue that God hath to vs. God is loue, and he that dwelleth in loue dwelleth in God, and God in him.

17. ന്യായവിധിദിവസത്തില് നമുക്കു ധൈര്യം ഉണ്ടാവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ഇതിനാല് സ്നേഹം നമ്മോടു തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. അവന് ഇരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഈ ലോകത്തില് നാമും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

17. Here in is the loue perfecte with vs, that we shulde haue a fre boldnesse in the daye of iudgment: for as he is, eue so are we in this worlde.

18. സ്നേഹത്തില് ഭയമില്ല; ഭയത്തിന്നു ദണ്ഡനം ഉള്ളതിനാല് തികഞ്ഞ സ്നേഹം ഭയത്തെ പുറത്താക്കിക്കളയുന്നു; ഭയപ്പെടുന്നവന് സ്നേഹത്തില് തികഞ്ഞവനല്ല.

18. Feare is not in loue, but perfecte loue casteth out feare: for feare hath paynefulnes. He that feareth, is not perfecte in loue.

19. അവന് ആദ്യം നമ്മെ സ്നേഹിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു നാം സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു.

19. Let vs loue him, for he loued vs first.

20. ഞാന് ദൈവത്തെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറകയും തന്റെ സഹോദരനെ പകെക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് കള്ളനാകുന്നു. താന് കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ള സഹോദരനെ സ്നേഹിക്കാത്തവന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ദൈവത്തെ സ്നേഹിപ്പാന് കഴിയുന്നതല്ല.

20. Yf eny man saye: I loue God, & yet hateth his brother, he is a lyar. For he that loueth not his brother whom he seyth, how can he loue God, whom he seyth not?

21. ദൈവത്തെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവന് സഹോദരനെയും സ്നേഹിക്കേണം എന്നീ കല്പന നമുക്കു അവങ്കല്നിന്നു ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

21. And this comaundement haue we of him, that he which loueth God, shulde loue his brother also.
