1. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, കള്ളപ്രവാചകന്മാര് പലരും ലോകത്തിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കയാല് ഏതു ആത്മാവിനെയും വിശ്വസിക്കാതെ ആത്മാക്കള് ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നുള്ളവയോ എന്നു ശോധന ചെയ്വിന് .

1. Dearly beloued, beleue not euery spirite: but proue the spirites whether they are of God or not: for many false prophetes are gone out into the worlde.

2. ദൈവാത്മാവിനെ ഇതിനാല് അറിയാം; യേശുക്രിസ്തു ജഡത്തില് വന്നു എന്നു സ്വീകരിക്കുന്ന ആത്മാവൊക്കെയും ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നുള്ളതു.

2. Hereby shall ye knowe the spirite of God: Euery spirite that confesseth that Iesus Christe is come in the fleshe, is of God:

3. യേശുവിനെ സ്വീകരിക്കാത്ത യാതൊരു ആത്മാവും ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നുള്ളതല്ല. അതു എതിര്ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ആത്മാവു തന്നേ; അതു വരും എന്നു നിങ്ങള് കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ; അതു ഇപ്പോള് തന്നേ ലോകത്തില് ഉണ്ടു.

3. And euery spirite which confesseth not that Iesus Christe is come in the fleshe, is not of God. And this is that spirite of antichriste, of whom ye haue hearde howe that he shoulde come: and euen nowe alredy is he in the worlde.

4. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങള് ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നുള്ളവര് ആകുന്നു; അവരെ ജയിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങളിലുള്ളവന് ലോകത്തില് ഉള്ളവനെക്കാള് വലിയവനല്ലോ.

4. Litle chyldren, ye are of God, & haue ouercome them: for greater is he that is in you, then he that is in the worlde.

5. അവര് ലൌകികന്മാര് ആകയാല് ലൌകികമായതു സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; ലോകം അവരുടെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കുന്നു.

5. They are of the world, therfore speake they of the worlde, & the world heareth them.

6. ഞങ്ങള് ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നുള്ളവരാകുന്നു; ദൈവത്തെ അറിയുന്നവന് ഞങ്ങളുടെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കുന്നു. ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നല്ലാത്തവന് ഞങ്ങളുടെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കുന്നില്ല. സത്യത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു ഏതു എന്നും വഞ്ചനയുടെ ആത്മാവു ഏതു എന്നും നമുക്കു ഇതിനാല് അറിയാം.

6. We are of God. He that knoweth God, heareth vs: he that is not of God, heareth vs not. Hereby knowe we the spirite of veritie, and the spirite of errour.

7. പ്രയമുള്ളവരേ, നാം അന്യോന്യം സ്നേഹിക്ക; സ്നേഹം ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നു വരുന്നു. സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവനെല്ലാം ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു, ദൈവത്തെ അറികയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

7. Dearely beloued, let vs loue one another, for loue commeth of God: And euery one that loueth, is borne of God, and knoweth God.

8. സ്നേഹിക്കാത്തവന് ദൈവത്തെ അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല; ദൈവം സ്നേഹം തന്നേ.

8. He that loueth not, knoweth not God: for God is loue.

9. ദൈവം തന്റെ ഏകജാതനായ പുത്രനെ നാം അവനാല് ജീവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ലോകത്തിലേക്കു അയച്ചു എന്നുള്ളതിനാല് ദൈവത്തിന്നു നമ്മോടുള്ള സ്നേഹം പ്രത്യക്ഷമായി.

9. In this appeared the loue of God to vs warde, because God sent his only begotten sonne into the worlde, that we myght lyue through hym.

10. നാം ദൈവത്തെ സ്നേഹിച്ചതല്ല, അവന് നമ്മെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു തന്റെ പുത്രനെ നമ്മുടെ പാപങ്ങള്ക്കു പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം ആകുവാന് അയച്ചതു തന്നേ സാക്ഷാല് സ്നേഹം ആകുന്നു.

10. Herein is loue, not that we loued God, but that he loued vs, and sent his sonne to be the agreement for our sinnes.

11. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, ദൈവം നമ്മെ ഇങ്ങനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു എങ്കില് നാമും അന്യോന്യം സ്നേഹിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

11. Dearely beloued, yf God so loued vs, we ought also to loue one another.

12. ദൈവത്തെ ആരും ഒരുനാളും കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല. നാം അന്യേന്യം സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് ദൈവം നമ്മില് വസിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ സ്നേഹം നമ്മില് തികഞ്ഞുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. No man hath seene God at any time. If we loue one another, God dwelleth in vs, and his loue is perfect in vs.

13. നാം അവനിലും അവന് നമ്മിലും വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവന് തന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ തന്നതിനാല് നാം അറിയുന്നു.

13. Hereby knowe we that we dwell in hym, & he in vs: because he hath geuen vs of his spirite.

14. പിതാവു പുത്രനെ ലോകരക്ഷിതാവായിട്ടു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് കണ്ടു സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നു.

14. And we haue seene, and do testifie that the father sent the sonne to be the sauiour of the worlde.

15. യേശു ദൈവപുത്രന് എന്നു സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നവനില് ദൈവവും അവന് ദൈവത്തിലും വസിക്കുന്നു.

15. Whosoeuer confesseth that Iesus is the sonne of God, in him dwelleth God, and he in God.

16. ഇങ്ങനെ ദൈവത്തിന്നു നമ്മോടുള്ള സ്നേഹത്തെ നാം അറിഞ്ഞും വിശ്വസിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു. ദൈവം സ്നേഹം തന്നേ; സ്നേഹത്തില് വസിക്കുന്നവന് ദൈവത്തില് വസിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവം അവനിലും വസിക്കുന്നു.

16. And we haue knowen and beleued the loue that God hath to vs. God is loue, and he that dwelleth in loue, dwelleth in God, and God in hym.

17. ന്യായവിധിദിവസത്തില് നമുക്കു ധൈര്യം ഉണ്ടാവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ഇതിനാല് സ്നേഹം നമ്മോടു തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. അവന് ഇരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഈ ലോകത്തില് നാമും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

17. Herein is the loue perfect in vs, that we shoulde haue boldnesse in the day of iudgement: For as he is, euen so are we in this worlde.

18. സ്നേഹത്തില് ഭയമില്ല; ഭയത്തിന്നു ദണ്ഡനം ഉള്ളതിനാല് തികഞ്ഞ സ്നേഹം ഭയത്തെ പുറത്താക്കിക്കളയുന്നു; ഭയപ്പെടുന്നവന് സ്നേഹത്തില് തികഞ്ഞവനല്ല.

18. There is no feare in loue, but perfect loue casteth out feare: for feare hath paynefulnesse. He that feareth, is not perfect in loue.

19. അവന് ആദ്യം നമ്മെ സ്നേഹിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു നാം സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു.

19. We loue hym, for he loued vs first.

20. ഞാന് ദൈവത്തെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറകയും തന്റെ സഹോദരനെ പകെക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് കള്ളനാകുന്നു. താന് കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ള സഹോദരനെ സ്നേഹിക്കാത്തവന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ദൈവത്തെ സ്നേഹിപ്പാന് കഴിയുന്നതല്ല.

20. If a man say, I loue God, & yet hate his brother, he is a lyer: For how can he yt loueth not his brother whom he hath seene, loue God who he hath not seene?

21. ദൈവത്തെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവന് സഹോദരനെയും സ്നേഹിക്കേണം എന്നീ കല്പന നമുക്കു അവങ്കല്നിന്നു ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

21. And this commaundement haue we of hym: that he which loueth God, shoulde loue his brother also.
