1. അതിന്നു തേമാന്യനായ എലീഫസ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered,

2. നിന്നോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന് തുനിഞ്ഞാല് നീ മുഷിയുമോ? എന്നാല് വാക്കടക്കുവാന് ആര്ക്കും കഴിയും?

2. 'If one ventures a word with you, will you become impatient? But who can refrain from speaking?

3. നീ പലരേയും ഉപദേശിച്ചു തളര്ന്ന കൈകളെ ശക്തീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

3. 'Behold you have admonished many, And you have strengthened weak hands.

4. വീഴുന്നവനെ നിന്റെ വാക്കു താങ്ങി കുഴയുന്ന മുഴങ്കാല് നീ ഉറപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. 'Your words have helped the tottering to stand, And you have strengthened feeble knees.

5. ഇപ്പോള് നിനക്കതു ഭവിച്ചിട്ടു നീ വിഷാദിക്കുന്നു; നിനക്കതു തട്ടീട്ടു നീ ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോകുന്നു.

5. 'But now it has come to you, and you are impatient; It touches you, and you are dismayed.

6. നിന്റെ ഭക്തി നിന്റെ ആശ്രയമല്ലയോ? നിന്റെ നടപ്പിന്റെ നിര്മ്മലത നിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശയല്ലയോ?

6. 'Is not your fear [of God] your confidence, And the integrity of your ways your hope?

7. ഔര്ത്തു നോക്കുകനിര്ദ്ദോഷിയായി നശിച്ചവന് ആര്? നേരുള്ളവര് എവിടെ മുടിഞ്ഞുപോയിട്ടുള്ളു?

7. 'Remember now, who [ever] perished being innocent? Or where were the upright destroyed?

8. ഞാന് കണ്ടേടത്തോളം അന്യായം ഉഴുതു കഷ്ടത വിതെക്കുന്നവര് അതു തന്നേ കൊയ്യുന്നു.

8. 'According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity And those who sow trouble harvest it.

9. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ശ്വാസത്താല് അവര് നശിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ കോപത്തിന്റെ ഊത്തിനാല് മുടിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

9. 'By the breath of God they perish, And by the blast of His anger they come to an end.

10. സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഗര്ജ്ജനവും കേസരിയുടെ നാദവും ബാലസിംഹങ്ങളുടെ ദന്തങ്ങളും അറ്റുപോയി.

10. 'The roaring of the lion and the voice of the [fierce] lion, And the teeth of the young lions are broken.

11. സിംഹം ഇരയില്ലായ്കയാല് നശിക്കുന്നു; സിംഹിയുടെ കുട്ടികള് ചിതറിപ്പോകുന്നു;

11. 'The lion perishes for lack of prey, And the whelps of the lioness are scattered.

12. എന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഒരു ഗൂഢവചനം എത്തി; അതിന്റെ മന്ദസ്വരം എന്റെ ചെവിയില് കടന്നു.

12. 'Now a word was brought to me stealthily, And my ear received a whisper of it.

13. മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും ഗാഢനിദ്ര പിടിക്കുന്നേരം രാത്രിദര്ശനങ്ങളാലുള്ള മനോഭാവനകളില് ഭയവും നടുക്കവും എന്നെ പിടിച്ചു.

13. 'Amid disquieting thoughts from the visions of the night, When deep sleep falls on men,

14. എന്റെ അസ്ഥികള് ഒക്കെയും കുലുങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

14. Dread came upon me, and trembling, And made all my bones shake.

15. ഒരാത്മാവു എന്റെ മുഖത്തിന്നെതിരെ കടന്നു എന്റെ ദേഹത്തിന്നു രോമഹര്ഷം ഭവിച്ചു.

15. 'Then a spirit passed by my face; The hair of my flesh bristled up.

16. ഒരു പ്രതിമ എന്റെ കണ്ണിന്നെതിരെ നിന്നു; എങ്കിലും അതിന്റെ രൂപം ഞാന് തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞില്ല; മന്ദമായോരു സ്വരം ഞാന് കേട്ടതെന്തെന്നാല്

16. 'It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance; A form [was] before my eyes; [There was] silence, then I heard a voice:

17. മര്ത്യന് ദൈവത്തിലും നീതിമാന് ആകുമോ? നരന് സ്രഷ്ടാവിലും നിര്മ്മലനാകുമോ?

17. 'Can mankind be just before God? Can a man be pure before his Maker?

18. ഇതാ, സ്വദാസന്മാരിലും അവന്നു വിശ്വാസമില്ല; തന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരിലും അവന് കുറ്റം ആരോപിക്കുന്നു.

18. 'He puts no trust even in His servants; And against His angels He charges error.

19. പൊടിയില്നിന്നുത്ഭവിച്ചു മണ്പുരകളില് പാര്ത്തു പുഴുപോലെ ചതെഞ്ഞു പോകുന്നവരില് എത്ര അധികം!
2 കൊരിന്ത്യർ 5:1

19. 'How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who are crushed before the moth!

20. ഉഷസ്സിന്നും സന്ധ്യെക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ അവര് തകര്ന്നു പോകുന്നു; ആരും ഗണ്യമാക്കാതെ അവര് എന്നേക്കും നശിക്കുന്നു.

20. 'Between morning and evening they are broken in pieces; Unobserved, they perish forever.

21. അവരുടെ കൂടാരക്കയറു അറ്റുപോയിട്ടു അവര് ജ്ഞാനഹീനരായി മരിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

21. 'Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them? They die, yet without wisdom.'
