1. മകനേ, വകതിരിവിനെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നും നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങള് പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ പാലിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

1. My sonne, hearken vnto my wisedome, and incline thine eare vnto my knowledge.

2. ജ്ഞാനത്തെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു എന്റെ ബോധത്തിന്നു ചെവി ചായിക്ക.

2. That thou maiest regarde counsell, and thy lippes obserue knowledge.

3. പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ അധരങ്ങളില്നിന്നു തേന് ഇറ്റിറ്റു വീഴുന്നു; അവളുടെ അണ്ണാക്കു എണ്ണയെക്കാള് മൃദുവാകുന്നു.

3. For the lippes of a strange woman drop as an honie combe, and her mouth is more soft then oyle.

4. പിന്നത്തേതിലോ അവള് കാഞ്ഞിരംപോലെ കൈപ്പും ഇരുവായ്ത്തലവാള്പോലെ മൂര്ച്ചയും ഉള്ളവള് തന്നേ.

4. But the end of her is bitter as wormewood, and sharpe as a two edged sworde.

5. അവളുടെ കാലുകള് മരണത്തിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുന്നു; അവളുടെ കാലടികള് പാതാളത്തിലേക്കു ഔടുന്നു.

5. Her feete goe downe to death, and her steps take holde on hell.

6. ജീവന്റെ മാര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് അവള് ചെല്ലാതവണ്ണം അവളുടെ പാതകള് അസ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവള് അറിയുന്നതുമില്ല.

6. She weigheth not the way of life: her paths are moueable: thou canst not knowe them.

7. ആകയാല് മക്കളേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്പ്പിന് ; എന്റെ വായിലെ മൊഴികളെ വിട്ടുമാറരുതു.

7. Heare yee me nowe therefore, O children, and depart not from the wordes of my mouth.

8. നിന്റെ വഴിയെ അവളോടു അകറ്റുക; അവളുടെ വീട്ടിന്റെ വാതിലോടു അടുക്കരുതു.

8. Keepe thy way farre from her, and come not neere the doore of her house,

9. നിന്റെ യൌവനശക്തി അന്യന്മാര്ക്കും നിന്റെ ആണ്ടുകള് ക്രൂരന്നും കൊടുക്കരുതു.

9. Least thou giue thine honor vnto others, and thy yeeres to the cruell:

10. കണ്ടവര് നിന്റെ സമ്പത്തു തിന്നുകളയരുതു. നിന്റെ പ്രയത്നഫലം വല്ലവന്റെയും വീട്ടില് ആയ്പോകരുതു.

10. Least the stranger should be silled with thy strength, and thy labours bee in the house of a stranger,

11. നിന്റെ മാംസവും ദേഹവും ക്ഷയിച്ചിട്ടു നീ ഒടുവില് നെടുവീര്പ്പിട്ടുകൊണ്ടു

11. And thou mourne at thine end, (when thou hast consumed thy flesh and thy bodie)

12. അയ്യോ! ഞാന് പ്രബോധനം വെറുക്കയും എന്റെ ഹൃദയം ശാസനയെ നിരസിക്കയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

12. And say, How haue I hated instruction, and mine heart despised correction!

13. എന്റെ ഉപദേഷ്ടാക്കന്മാരുടെ വാക്കു ഞാന് അനുസരിച്ചില്ല; എന്നെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചവര്ക്കും ഞാന് ചെവികൊടുത്തില്ല.

13. And haue not obeied the voyce of them that taught mee, nor enclined mine eare to them that instructed me!

14. സഭയുടെയും സംഘത്തിന്റെയും മദ്ധ്യേ ഞാന് ഏകദേശം സകലദോഷത്തിലും അകപ്പെട്ടുപോയല്ലോ എന്നിങ്ങനെ പറവാന് സംഗതിവരരുതു.

14. I was almost brought into all euil in ye mids of the Congregation and assemblie.

15. നിന്റെ സ്വന്തജലാശയത്തിലെ തണ്ണീരും സ്വന്തകിണറ്റില്നിന്നു ഒഴുകുന്ന വെള്ളവും കുടിക്ക.

15. Drinke the water of thy cisterne, and of the riuers out of the middes of thine owne well.

16. നിന്റെ ഉറവുകള് വെളിയിലേക്കും നിന്റെ നീരൊഴുക്കുകള് വീഥിയിലേക്കും ഒഴുകിപ്പോകേണമോ?

16. Let thy fountaines flow foorth, and the riuers of waters in the streetes.

17. അവ നിനക്കും അന്യന്മാര്ക്കും കൂടെയല്ല നിനക്കു മാത്രമേ ഇരിക്കാവു.

17. But let them bee thine, euen thine onely, and not the strangers with thee.

18. നിന്റെ ഉറവു അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ യൌവനത്തിലെ ഭാര്യയില് സന്തോഷിച്ചുകൊള്ക.

18. Let thy fountaine be blessed, and reioyce with the wife of thy youth.

19. കൌതുകമുള്ള പേടമാനും മനോഹരമായ ഇളമാന് പേടയും പോലെ അവളുടെ സ്തനങ്ങള് എല്ലാകാലത്തും നിന്നെ രമിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ; അവളുടെ പ്രേമത്താല് നീ എല്ലായ്പോഴും മത്തനായിരിക്ക.

19. Let her be as the louing hinde and pleasant roe: let her brests satisfie thee at all times, and delite in her loue continually.

20. മകനേ, നീ പരസ്ത്രീയെ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിക്കുന്നതും അന്യസ്ത്രീയുടെ മാറിടം തഴുകുന്നതും എന്തു?

20. For why shouldest thou delite, my sonne, in a strange woman, or embrace the bosome of a stranger?

21. മനുഷ്യന്റെ വഴികള് യഹോവയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ നടപ്പു ഒക്കെയും അവന് തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.

21. For the waies of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his pathes.

22. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ അകൃത്യങ്ങള് അവനെ പിടിക്കും; തന്റെ പാപപാശങ്ങളാല് അവന് പിടിപെടും.

22. His owne iniquities shall take the wicked himselfe, and he shall be holden with the cordes of his owne sinne.

23. പ്രബോധനം കേള്ക്കായ്കയാല് അവന് മരിക്കും; മഹാഭോഷത്വത്താല് അവന് വഴിതെറ്റിപ്പോകും.

23. Hee shall die for fault of instruction, and shall goe astray through his great follie.
