1. വര്ള്ച്ചയെക്കുറിച്ചു യിരെമ്യാവിന്നുണ്ടായ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം.

1. The LORD said to me, 'Go and buy some linen shorts and put them on. Do not put them in water.'

2. യെഹൂദാ ദുഃഖിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ പടിവാതില്ക്കല് ഇരിക്കുന്നവന് ക്ഷീണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് കറുപ്പുടുത്തു നിലത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നിലവിളി പൊങ്ങുന്നു.

2. So I bought the shorts as the LORD had told me to do and put them on.

3. അവരുടെ കുലീനന്മാര് അടിയാരെ വെള്ളത്തിന്നു അയക്കുന്നു; അവര് കുളങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നിട്ടു വെള്ളം കാണാതെ വെറുമ്പാത്രങ്ങളോടെ മടങ്ങി വരുന്നു; അവര് ലജ്ജിച്ചു വിഷണ്ണരായി തല മൂടുന്നു.

3. Then the LORD spoke to me again and said,

4. ദേശത്തു മഴയില്ലായ്കയാല് നിലം ഉണങ്ങി വിണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ഉഴവുകാര് ലജ്ജിച്ചു തല മൂടുന്നു.

4. 'Take the shorts that you bought and are wearing and go at once to Perath. Bury the shorts there in a crack in the rocks.'

5. മാന് പേട വയലില് പ്രസവിച്ചിട്ടു പുല്ലില്ലായ്കയാല് കുട്ടിയെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

5. So I went and buried them at Perath as the LORD had ordered me to do.

6. കാട്ടുകഴുത മൊട്ടക്കുന്നിന്മേല് നിന്നു കൊണ്ടു കുറുനരികളെപ്പോലെ കിഴെക്കുന്നു; സസ്യങ്ങള് ഇല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു അതിന്റെ കണ്ണു മങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു.

6. Many days later the LORD said to me, 'Go at once to Perath and get the shorts I ordered you to bury there.'

7. യഹോവ, ഞങ്ങളുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വിരോധമായി സാക്ഷീകരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നിന്റെ നാമംനിമിത്തം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കേണമേ; ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിന്മാറ്റങ്ങള് വളരെയാകുന്നു; ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. So I went to Perath and dug up the shorts from the place where I had buried them. I found that they were ruined; they were good for nothing.

8. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശയും കഷ്ടകാലത്തു അവന്റെ രക്ഷിതാവും ആയുള്ളോവേ, നീ ദേശത്തു പരദേശിയെപ്പോലെയും ഒരു രാപാര്പ്പാന് മാത്രം കൂടാരം അടിക്കുന്ന വഴിപോക്കനെപ്പോലെയും ആയിരിക്കുന്നതെന്തു?

8. Then the LORD said to me,

9. ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോയ പുരുഷനെപ്പോലെയും രക്ഷിപ്പാന് കഴിയാത്ത വീരനെപ്പോലെയും ആയിരിക്കുന്നതെന്തു? എന്നാലും യഹോവേ, നീ ഞങ്ങളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ ഉണ്ടു; നിന്റെ നാമം ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതേ.

9. 'I, the LORD, say: 'This shows how I will ruin the highly exalted position in which Judah and Jerusalem take pride.

10. അവര് ഇങ്ങനെ ഉഴന്നു നടപ്പാന് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു, കാല് അടക്കിവെച്ചതുമില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ ഈ ജനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവേക്കു അവരില് പ്രസാദമില്ല; അവന് ഇപ്പോള് തന്നെ അവരുടെ അകൃത്യത്തെ ഔര്ത്തു അവരുടെ പാപങ്ങളെ സന്ദര്ശിക്കും.

10. These wicked people refuse to obey what I have said. They follow the stubborn inclinations of their own hearts and pay allegiance to other gods by worshiping and serving them. So they will become just like these linen shorts which are good for nothing.

11. യഹോവ എന്നോടുനീ ഈ ജനത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി അവരുടെ നന്മെക്കായി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കരുതു;

11. For,' I say, 'just as shorts cling tightly to a person's body, so I bound the whole nation of Israel and the whole nation of Judah tightly to me.' I intended for them to be my special people and to bring me fame, honor, and praise. But they would not obey me.

12. അവര് ഉപവസിക്കുമ്പോള് ഞാന് അവരുടെ നിലവിളി കേള്ക്കയില്ല; അവര് ഹോമയാഗവും ഭോജനയാഗവും അര്പ്പിക്കുമ്പോള് ഞാന് അവയില് പ്രസാദിക്കയില്ല; ഞാന് അവരെ വാള്കൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും മഹാമാരികൊണ്ടും മുടിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

12. 'So tell them, 'The LORD, the God of Israel, says, 'Every wine jar is made to be filled with wine.'' And they will probably say to you, 'Do you not think we know that every wine jar is supposed to be filled with wine?'

13. അതിന്നു ഞാന് അയ്യോ, യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവേ, നിങ്ങള് വാള് കാണുകയില്ല, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ക്ഷാമം ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല, ഞാന് ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു സ്ഥിരമായുള്ള സമാധാനം നിങ്ങള്ക്കു നലകും എന്നു പ്രവാചകന്മാര് അവരോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. Then tell them, 'The LORD says, 'I will soon fill all the people who live in this land with stupor. I will also fill the kings from David's dynasty, the priests, the prophets, and the citizens of Jerusalem with stupor.

14. യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപ്രവാചകന്മാര് എന്റെ നാമത്തില് ഭോഷകു പ്രവചിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് അവരെ അയച്ചിട്ടില്ല, അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചിട്ടില്ല, അവരോടു സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല; അവര് വ്യാജദര്ശനവും പ്രശ്നവാക്യവും ഇല്ലാത്ത കാര്യവും സ്വന്തഹൃദയത്തിലെ വഞ്ചനയും നിങ്ങളോടു പ്രവചിക്കുന്നു.

14. And I will smash them like wine bottles against one another, children and parents alike. I will not show any pity, mercy, or compassion. Nothing will keep me from destroying them,' says the LORD.'

15. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവഞാന് അയക്കാതെ എന്റെ നാമത്തില് പ്രവചിക്കയും ഈ ദേശത്തു വാളും ക്ഷാമവും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു പറകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രവാചകന്മാരെക്കുറിച്ചു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുവാള്കൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും ആ പ്രവാചകന്മാര് മുടിഞ്ഞുപോകും;

15. Then I said to the people of Judah, 'Listen and pay attention! Do not be arrogant! For the LORD has spoken.

16. അവരുടെ പ്രവചനം കേട്ട ജനമോ യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ വീഥികളില് ക്ഷാമവും വാളും ഹേതുവായിട്ടു വീണുകിടക്കും; അവരെയും അവരുടെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും കുഴിച്ചിടുവാന് ആരും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല; ഇങ്ങനെ ഞാന് അവരുടെ ദുഷ്ടത അവരുടെമേല് പകരും.

16. Show the LORD your God the respect that is due him. Do it before he brings the darkness of disaster. Do it before you stumble into distress like a traveler on the mountains at twilight. Do it before he turns the light of deliverance you hope for into the darkness and gloom of exile.

17. നീ ഈ വചനം അവരോടു പറയേണംഎന്റെ കണ്ണില്നിന്നു രാവും പകലും ഇടവിടാതെ കണ്ണുനീര് ഒഴുകട്ടെ; എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രിയായ കന്യക കഠിനമായി തകര്ന്നും വ്യസനകരമായി മുറിവേറ്റും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

17. But if you will not pay attention to this warning, I will weep alone because of your arrogant pride. I will weep bitterly and my eyes will overflow with tears because you, the LORD's flock, will be carried into exile.'

18. വയലില് ചെന്നാല് ഇതാ, വാള്കൊണ്ടു പട്ടുപോയവര്; പട്ടണത്തില് ചെന്നാല് ഇതാ, ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടു പാടുപെടുന്നവര് പ്രവാചകനും പുരോഹിതനും ഒരുപോലെ തങ്ങള് അറിയാത്ത ദേശത്തു അലഞ്ഞുനടക്കുന്നു.

18. The LORD told me, 'Tell the king and the queen mother, 'Surrender your thrones, for your glorious crowns will be removed from your heads.

19. നീ യെഹൂദയെ കേവലം ത്യജിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞുവോ? നിനക്കു സീയോനോടു വെറുപ്പു തോന്നുന്നുവോ? പൊറുപ്പാകാതവണ്ണം നീ ഞങ്ങളെ മുറിവേല്പിച്ചതെന്തിന്നു; ഞങ്ങള് സമാധാനത്തിന്നായി കാത്തിരുന്നു; ഒരു ഗുണവും വന്നില്ല! രോഗശമനത്തിന്നായി കാത്തിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് ഇതാ, ഭീതി!

19. The gates of the towns in southern Judah will be shut tight. No one will be able to go in or out of them. All Judah will be carried off into exile. They will be completely carried off into exile.''

20. യഹോവേ ഞങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടതയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അകൃത്യവും അറിയുന്നു; ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

20. Then I said, 'Look up, Jerusalem, and see the enemy that is coming from the north. Where now is the flock of people that were entrusted to your care? Where now are the 'sheep' that you take such pride in?

21. നിന്റെ നാമംനിമിത്തം ഞങ്ങളെ തള്ളിക്കളയരുതേ; നിന്റെ മഹത്വമുള്ള സിംഹാസനത്തിന്നു ഹീനത വരുത്തരുതേ; ഔര്ക്കേണമേ, ഞങ്ങളോടുള്ള നിന്റെ നിയമത്തിന്നു ഭംഗം വരുത്തരുതേ.

21. What will you say when the LORD appoints as rulers over you those allies that you, yourself, had actually prepared as such? Then anguish and agony will grip you like that of a woman giving birth to a baby.

22. ജാതികളുടെ മിത്ഥ്യാമൂര്ത്തികളില് മഴ പെയ്യിക്കുന്നവര് ഉണ്ടോ? അല്ല, ആകാശമോ വര്ഷം നലക്കുന്നതു? ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, അതു നീ തന്നേ അല്ലയോ? നിനക്കായി ഞങ്ങള് കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇവയെ ഒക്കെയും സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു നീയല്ലോ.

22. You will probably ask yourself, 'Why have these things happened to me? Why have I been treated like a disgraced adulteress whose skirt has been torn off and her limbs exposed?' It is because you have sinned so much.
