1. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഈ നഗരത്തില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നവന് വാള്കൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും മഹാമാരികൊണ്ടും മരിക്കും; കല്ദയരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു ചേരുന്നവനോ ജീയവനോടെയിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ ജീവന് അവന്നു കൊള്ളകിട്ടിയതുപോലെയിരിക്കും; അവന് ജീവനോടിരിക്കും എന്നും യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു

1. And King Zedekiah the sonne of Iosiah reigned for Coniah the sonne of Iehoiakim, whome Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel made King in the land of Iudah.

2. ഈ നഗരം നിശ്ചയമായി ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ സൈന്യത്തിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടും, അവന് അതിനെ പിടിക്കും എന്നും

2. But neither he, nor his seruants, nor the people of the land would obey the wordes of the Lord, which he spake by the ministerie of the Prophet Ieremiah.

3. യിരെമ്യാവു സകല ജനത്തോടും പ്രസ്താവിച്ച വചനങ്ങളെ മത്ഥാന്റെ മകനായ ശെഫത്യാവും പശ്ഹൂരിന്റെ മകനായ ഗെദല്യാവും ശെലെമ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യൂഖലും മല്ക്കീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ പശ്ഹൂരും കേട്ടിട്ടു

3. And Zedekiah the King sent Iehucal the sonne of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the sonne of Maaseiah the Priest to the Prophet Ieremiah, saying, Pray now vnto the Lord our God for vs.

4. പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് രാജാവിനോടുഈ മനുഷ്യന് നഗരത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പടയാളികള്ക്കും സര്വ്വജനത്തിന്നും ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള വാക്കു പറഞ്ഞു ധൈര്യക്ഷയം വരുത്തുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കൊന്നുകളയേണമേ; ഈ മനുഷ്യന് ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ നന്മയല്ല തിന്മയത്രേ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. (Now Ieremiah went in and out among the people: for they had not put him into the prison.

5. സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവുഇതാ, അവന് നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വിരോധമായി ഒന്നും ചെയ്വാന് രാജാവിന്നു കഴിവില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Then Pharaohs hoste was come out of Egypt: and when the Caldeans that besieged Ierusalem, heard tidings of them, they departed from Ierusalem)

6. അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ പിടിച്ചു കാവല്പുരമുറ്റത്തു രാജകുമാരനായ മല്ക്കീയാവിന്നുള്ള കുഴിയില് ഇറക്കി; കയറുകൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ ഇറക്കിയതു; കുഴിയില് ചെളിയല്ലാതെ വെള്ളമില്ലായിരുന്നു; യിരെമ്യാവു ചെളിയില് താണു.

6. Then came the worde of the Lord vnto the Prophet Ieremiah, saying,

7. അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ കുഴിയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു രാജഗൃഹത്തില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന കൂശ്യനായ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക് എന്ന ഷണ്ഡന് കേട്ടു; അന്നു രാജാവു ബെന്യാമീന് വാതില്ക്കല് ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു.

7. Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, Thus shall ye say to the King of Iudah, that sent you vnto me to inquire of me, Behold, Pharaohs hoste, which is come forth to helpe you, shall returne to Egypt into their owne land.

8. ഏബെദ്-മേലെക് രാജഗൃഹത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു

8. And the Caldeans shall come againe, and fight against this citie, and take it and burne it with fire.

9. യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, ഈ മനുഷ്യന് യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനോടു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അന്യായമത്രേ; അവര് അവനെ കുഴിയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു; നഗരത്തില് അപ്പം ഇല്ലായ്കയാല് അവന് അവിടെ പട്ടിണികിടന്നു ചാകേയുള്ള എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Thus sayth the Lord, Deceiue not your selues, saying, The Caldeans shall surely depart from vs: for they shall not depart.

10. രാജാവു കൂശ്യനായ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക്കിനോടുനീ ഇവിടെനിന്നു മുപ്പതു ആളുകളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകന് മരിക്കുംമുമ്പെ അവനെ കുഴിയില്നിന്നു കയറ്റിക്കൊള്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

10. For though ye had smitten the whole hoste of the Caldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should euery man rise vp in his tent, and burne this citie with fire.

11. അങ്ങനെ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക് ആയാളുകളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു രാജഗൃഹത്തില് ഭണ്ഡാരമുറിക്കു കീഴെ ചെന്നു അവിടെ നിന്നു പഴന്തുണിയും കീറ്റുതുണിക്കണ്ടങ്ങളും എടുത്തു കുഴിയില് യിരെമ്യാവിന്നു കയറുവഴി ഇറക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു.

11. When the hoste of the Caldeans was broken vp from Ierusalem, because of Pharaohs armie,

12. കൂശ്യനായ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക് യിരെമ്യാവോടുഈ പഴന്തുണിയും കീറ്റുതുണിക്കണ്ടങ്ങളും നിന്റെ കക്ഷങ്ങളില് വെച്ചു അതിന്നു പുറമെ കയറിട്ടുകൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; യിരെമ്യാവു അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു.

12. Then Ieremiah went out of Ierusalem to goe into the land of Beniamin, separating himselfe thence from among the people.

13. അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ കയറുകൊണ്ടു കുഴിയില്നിന്നു വലിച്ചുകയറ്റി; യിരെമ്യാവു കാവല്പുരമുറ്റത്തു പാര്ത്തു.

13. And when hee was in the gate of Beniamin, there was a chiefe officer, whose name was Iriiah, the sonne of Shelemiah, the sonne of Hananiah, and he tooke Ieremiah the Prophet, saying, Thou fleest to the Caldeans.

14. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവു ആളയച്ചു യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ മൂന്നാം പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കല് തന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുത്തി; രാജാവു യിരെമ്യാവോടുഞാന് നിന്നോടു ഒരു കാര്യം ചോദിക്കുന്നു; എന്നോടു ഒന്നും മറെച്ചുവെക്കരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

14. Then sayde Ieremiah, That is false, I flee not to the Caldeans: but he would not heare him: so Iriiah tooke Ieremiah, and brought him to the princes.

15. അതിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവു സിദെക്കീയാവോടുഞാന് അതു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചാല് എന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ലയോ? ഞാന് ഒരു ആലോചന പറഞ്ഞു തന്നാല് എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കയില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. Wherefore the princes were angry with Ieremiah, and smote him, and layde him in prison in the house of Iehonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison.

16. സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവുഈ പ്രാണനെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചുതന്ന യഹോവയാണ, ഞാന് നിന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ല; നിനക്കു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാന് നോക്കുന്ന ഈ മനുഷ്യരുടെ കയ്യില് ഞാന് നിന്നെ ഏല്പിക്കയുമില്ല എന്നു യിരെമ്യാവോടു രഹസ്യമായി സത്യംചെയ്തു.

16. When Ieremiah was entred into the dungeon, and into the prisons, and had remained there a long time,

17. എന്നാറെ യിരെമ്യാവു സിദെക്കീയാവോടുയിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായി സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുബാബേല് രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു ചെന്നാല് നിനക്കു പ്രാണരക്ഷയുണ്ടാകും; ഈ നഗരത്തെ തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളകയുമില്ല; നീയും നിന്റെ ഗൃഹവും ജീവനോടെ ഇരിക്കും.

17. Then Zedekiah the King sent, and tooke him out, and the King asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any worde from the Lord? And Ieremiah sayd, Yea: for, sayd he, thou shalt be deliuered into the hand of the King of Babel.

18. നീ ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു ചെല്ലാഞ്ഞാലോ ഈ നഗരം കല്ദയരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടും; അവര് അതിനെ തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയും; നീ അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു തെറ്റിയൊഴികയുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. Moreouer, Ieremiah sayd vnto King Zedekiah, What haue I offended against thee, or against thy seruants, or against this people, that ye haue put me in prison?

19. സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവു യിരെമ്യാവോടുകല്ദയര് എന്നെ അവരുടെ പക്ഷം ചേര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കയും അവര് എന്നെ അപമാനിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമെന്നു ഞാന് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. Where are nowe your prophets, which prophecied vnto you, saying, The King of Babel shall not come against you, nor against this land?

20. അതിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവു പറഞ്ഞതുഅവര് നിന്നെ ഏല്പിക്കയില്ല; ഞാന് ബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന യഹോയുടെ വചനം കേള്ക്കേണമേ; എന്നാല് നിനക്കു നന്നായിരിക്കും; നിനക്കു പ്രാണരക്ഷയുണ്ടാകും.

20. Therefore heare nowe, I pray thee, O my lorde the King: let my prayer be accepted before thee, that thou cause mee not to returne to the house of Iehonathan the scribe, least I die there.

21. പുറത്തു ചെല്ലുവാന് നിനക്കു മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കിലോ, യഹോവ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിത്തന്ന അരുളപ്പാടാവിതു

21. Then Zedekiah the King commanded, that they should put Ieremiah in the court of the prison, and that they should giue him dayly a piece of bread out of the bakers streete vntill all the bread in the citie were eaten vp. Thus Ieremiah remained in the court of the prison.
