1. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഈ നഗരത്തില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നവന് വാള്കൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും മഹാമാരികൊണ്ടും മരിക്കും; കല്ദയരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു ചേരുന്നവനോ ജീയവനോടെയിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ ജീവന് അവന്നു കൊള്ളകിട്ടിയതുപോലെയിരിക്കും; അവന് ജീവനോടിരിക്കും എന്നും യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു

1. Zedekiah the son of Josiah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had made king in the land of Judah, ruled in place of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim.

2. ഈ നഗരം നിശ്ചയമായി ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ സൈന്യത്തിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടും, അവന് അതിനെ പിടിക്കും എന്നും

2. But he and his servants and the people of the land would not listen to what the Lord said through Jeremiah the man of God.

3. King Zedekiah sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the religious leader, to Jeremiah the man of God, saying, 'Pray to the Lord our God for us.'

4. പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് രാജാവിനോടുഈ മനുഷ്യന് നഗരത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പടയാളികള്ക്കും സര്വ്വജനത്തിന്നും ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള വാക്കു പറഞ്ഞു ധൈര്യക്ഷയം വരുത്തുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കൊന്നുകളയേണമേ; ഈ മനുഷ്യന് ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ നന്മയല്ല തിന്മയത്രേ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Now Jeremiah was still free to come and go among the people, for they had not yet put him in prison.

5. സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവുഇതാ, അവന് നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വിരോധമായി ഒന്നും ചെയ്വാന് രാജാവിന്നു കഴിവില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. The army of Pharaoh had come out of Egypt. And when the Babylonian army which had been around Jerusalem heard the news about them, they left Jerusalem.

6. അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ പിടിച്ചു കാവല്പുരമുറ്റത്തു രാജകുമാരനായ മല്ക്കീയാവിന്നുള്ള കുഴിയില് ഇറക്കി; കയറുകൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ ഇറക്കിയതു; കുഴിയില് ചെളിയല്ലാതെ വെള്ളമില്ലായിരുന്നു; യിരെമ്യാവു ചെളിയില് താണു.

6. Then the Word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the man of God, saying,

7. അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ കുഴിയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു രാജഗൃഹത്തില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന കൂശ്യനായ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക് എന്ന ഷണ്ഡന് കേട്ടു; അന്നു രാജാവു ബെന്യാമീന് വാതില്ക്കല് ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു.

7. This is what the Lord God of Israel says: 'Tell the king of Judah, who sent you to ask Me what will happen, 'See, Pharaoh's army which has come to help you is going to return to its own land of Egypt.

8. ഏബെദ്-മേലെക് രാജഗൃഹത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു

8. Then the Babylonians will return and fight against this city. They will take it and burn it with fire.' '

9. യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, ഈ മനുഷ്യന് യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനോടു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അന്യായമത്രേ; അവര് അവനെ കുഴിയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു; നഗരത്തില് അപ്പം ഇല്ലായ്കയാല് അവന് അവിടെ പട്ടിണികിടന്നു ചാകേയുള്ള എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. The Lord says, 'Do not fool yourselves, saying, 'For sure the Babylonians will go away from us.' For they will not go.

10. രാജാവു കൂശ്യനായ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക്കിനോടുനീ ഇവിടെനിന്നു മുപ്പതു ആളുകളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകന് മരിക്കുംമുമ്പെ അവനെ കുഴിയില്നിന്നു കയറ്റിക്കൊള്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

10. Even if you had won the battle against the whole Babylonian army fighting with you, and only men who were hurt were left in their tents, they would rise up and burn this city with fire.' '

11. അങ്ങനെ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക് ആയാളുകളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു രാജഗൃഹത്തില് ഭണ്ഡാരമുറിക്കു കീഴെ ചെന്നു അവിടെ നിന്നു പഴന്തുണിയും കീറ്റുതുണിക്കണ്ടങ്ങളും എടുത്തു കുഴിയില് യിരെമ്യാവിന്നു കയറുവഴി ഇറക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു.

11. Now the Babylonian army had left Jerusalem because of Pharaoh's army.

12. കൂശ്യനായ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക് യിരെമ്യാവോടുഈ പഴന്തുണിയും കീറ്റുതുണിക്കണ്ടങ്ങളും നിന്റെ കക്ഷങ്ങളില് വെച്ചു അതിന്നു പുറമെ കയറിട്ടുകൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; യിരെമ്യാവു അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു.

12. And so Jeremiah left Jerusalem to go to the land of Benjamin to take his land there among the people.

13. അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ കയറുകൊണ്ടു കുഴിയില്നിന്നു വലിച്ചുകയറ്റി; യിരെമ്യാവു കാവല്പുരമുറ്റത്തു പാര്ത്തു.

13. While he was at the Gate of Benjamin, a soldier was there watching. His name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah. He took hold of Jeremiah the man of God, saying, 'You are going over to the Babylonians!'

14. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവു ആളയച്ചു യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ മൂന്നാം പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കല് തന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുത്തി; രാജാവു യിരെമ്യാവോടുഞാന് നിന്നോടു ഒരു കാര്യം ചോദിക്കുന്നു; എന്നോടു ഒന്നും മറെച്ചുവെക്കരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

14. But Jeremiah said, 'It is a lie! I am not going over to the Babylonians.' But Irijah would not listen to him. He took hold of Jeremiah and brought him to the leaders.

15. അതിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവു സിദെക്കീയാവോടുഞാന് അതു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചാല് എന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ലയോ? ഞാന് ഒരു ആലോചന പറഞ്ഞു തന്നാല് എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കയില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. The leaders were angry with Jeremiah and beat him. They put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the writer, which they had made into a prison.

16. സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവുഈ പ്രാണനെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചുതന്ന യഹോവയാണ, ഞാന് നിന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ല; നിനക്കു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാന് നോക്കുന്ന ഈ മനുഷ്യരുടെ കയ്യില് ഞാന് നിന്നെ ഏല്പിക്കയുമില്ല എന്നു യിരെമ്യാവോടു രഹസ്യമായി സത്യംചെയ്തു.

16. After Jeremiah had been in an under-ground prison many days,

17. എന്നാറെ യിരെമ്യാവു സിദെക്കീയാവോടുയിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായി സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുബാബേല് രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു ചെന്നാല് നിനക്കു പ്രാണരക്ഷയുണ്ടാകും; ഈ നഗരത്തെ തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളകയുമില്ല; നീയും നിന്റെ ഗൃഹവും ജീവനോടെ ഇരിക്കും.

17. King Zedekiah sent for him and had him brought to his house. The king asked him in secret, 'Is there any word from the Lord?' And Jeremiah said, 'There is!' Then he said, 'You will be given over to the king of Babylon!'

18. നീ ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു ചെല്ലാഞ്ഞാലോ ഈ നഗരം കല്ദയരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടും; അവര് അതിനെ തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയും; നീ അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു തെറ്റിയൊഴികയുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. Jeremiah also said to King Zedekiah, 'In what way have I sinned against you or your servants, or against these people? Why have you put me in prison?

19. സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവു യിരെമ്യാവോടുകല്ദയര് എന്നെ അവരുടെ പക്ഷം ചേര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കയും അവര് എന്നെ അപമാനിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമെന്നു ഞാന് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. Where are your men who spoke to you in God's name, saying, 'The king of Babylon will not come against you or against this land'?

20. അതിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവു പറഞ്ഞതുഅവര് നിന്നെ ഏല്പിക്കയില്ല; ഞാന് ബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന യഹോയുടെ വചനം കേള്ക്കേണമേ; എന്നാല് നിനക്കു നന്നായിരിക്കും; നിനക്കു പ്രാണരക്ഷയുണ്ടാകും.

20. But now I ask you to listen, O my lord the king. Hear what I ask, and do not make me return to the house of Jonathan the writer, or I will die there.'

21. പുറത്തു ചെല്ലുവാന് നിനക്കു മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കിലോ, യഹോവ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിത്തന്ന അരുളപ്പാടാവിതു

21. So King Zedekiah had them put Jeremiah in the open space of the prison. And a loaf of bread was given to him every day from the bread makers' street, until all the bread in the city was gone. So Jeremiah stayed in the open space of the prison.
