1. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഈ നഗരത്തില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നവന് വാള്കൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും മഹാമാരികൊണ്ടും മരിക്കും; കല്ദയരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു ചേരുന്നവനോ ജീയവനോടെയിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ ജീവന് അവന്നു കൊള്ളകിട്ടിയതുപോലെയിരിക്കും; അവന് ജീവനോടിരിക്കും എന്നും യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു

1. And Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar appointed to reign over Judah.

2. ഈ നഗരം നിശ്ചയമായി ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ സൈന്യത്തിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടും, അവന് അതിനെ പിടിക്കും എന്നും

2. And he and his servants and the people of the land hearkened not to the words of the Lord, which He spoke by Jeremiah.

3. യിരെമ്യാവു സകല ജനത്തോടും പ്രസ്താവിച്ച വചനങ്ങളെ മത്ഥാന്റെ മകനായ ശെഫത്യാവും പശ്ഹൂരിന്റെ മകനായ ഗെദല്യാവും ശെലെമ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യൂഖലും മല്ക്കീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ പശ്ഹൂരും കേട്ടിട്ടു

3. And King Zedekiah sent Jehucal son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the priest, son of Maaseiah, to Jeremiah, saying, Pray now for us to the Lord.

4. പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് രാജാവിനോടുഈ മനുഷ്യന് നഗരത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പടയാളികള്ക്കും സര്വ്വജനത്തിന്നും ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള വാക്കു പറഞ്ഞു ധൈര്യക്ഷയം വരുത്തുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കൊന്നുകളയേണമേ; ഈ മനുഷ്യന് ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ നന്മയല്ല തിന്മയത്രേ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Now Jeremiah came and went through the midst of the city, for they [had] not put him into the house of the prison.

5. സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവുഇതാ, അവന് നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വിരോധമായി ഒന്നും ചെയ്വാന് രാജാവിന്നു കഴിവില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. And Pharaoh's army had come forth out of Egypt; and the Chaldeans heard the report of them, and they went up from Jerusalem.

6. അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ പിടിച്ചു കാവല്പുരമുറ്റത്തു രാജകുമാരനായ മല്ക്കീയാവിന്നുള്ള കുഴിയില് ഇറക്കി; കയറുകൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ ഇറക്കിയതു; കുഴിയില് ചെളിയല്ലാതെ വെള്ളമില്ലായിരുന്നു; യിരെമ്യാവു ചെളിയില് താണു.

6. And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,

7. അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ കുഴിയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു രാജഗൃഹത്തില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന കൂശ്യനായ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക് എന്ന ഷണ്ഡന് കേട്ടു; അന്നു രാജാവു ബെന്യാമീന് വാതില്ക്കല് ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു.

7. Thus said the Lord; Thus shall you say to the king of Judah who sent to you, to seek Me; Behold, the army of Pharaoh which has come forth to help you shall return to the land of Egypt.

8. ഏബെദ്-മേലെക് രാജഗൃഹത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു

8. And the Chaldeans themselves shall turn again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.

9. യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, ഈ മനുഷ്യന് യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനോടു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അന്യായമത്രേ; അവര് അവനെ കുഴിയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു; നഗരത്തില് അപ്പം ഇല്ലായ്കയാല് അവന് അവിടെ പട്ടിണികിടന്നു ചാകേയുള്ള എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. For thus says the Lord: Suppose not in your hearts, saying, The Chaldeans will certainly depart from us: for they shall not depart.

10. രാജാവു കൂശ്യനായ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക്കിനോടുനീ ഇവിടെനിന്നു മുപ്പതു ആളുകളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകന് മരിക്കുംമുമ്പെ അവനെ കുഴിയില്നിന്നു കയറ്റിക്കൊള്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

10. And though you should smite the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there should be left a few wounded [men], these should rise up each in his place, and burn this city with fire.

11. അങ്ങനെ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക് ആയാളുകളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു രാജഗൃഹത്തില് ഭണ്ഡാരമുറിക്കു കീഴെ ചെന്നു അവിടെ നിന്നു പഴന്തുണിയും കീറ്റുതുണിക്കണ്ടങ്ങളും എടുത്തു കുഴിയില് യിരെമ്യാവിന്നു കയറുവഴി ഇറക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു.

11. And it came to pass, when the army of the Chaldeans had gone up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh's army,

12. കൂശ്യനായ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക് യിരെമ്യാവോടുഈ പഴന്തുണിയും കീറ്റുതുണിക്കണ്ടങ്ങളും നിന്റെ കക്ഷങ്ങളില് വെച്ചു അതിന്നു പുറമെ കയറിട്ടുകൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; യിരെമ്യാവു അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു.

12. that Jeremiah went forth from Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to buy [some property] from there among the people.

13. അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ കയറുകൊണ്ടു കുഴിയില്നിന്നു വലിച്ചുകയറ്റി; യിരെമ്യാവു കാവല്പുരമുറ്റത്തു പാര്ത്തു.

13. And he was in the gate of Benjamin, and [there was] a man there with whom he lodged, Irajah the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he caught Jeremiah, saying, You are fleeing to the Chaldeans.

14. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവു ആളയച്ചു യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ മൂന്നാം പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കല് തന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുത്തി; രാജാവു യിരെമ്യാവോടുഞാന് നിന്നോടു ഒരു കാര്യം ചോദിക്കുന്നു; എന്നോടു ഒന്നും മറെച്ചുവെക്കരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

14. And he said, [that's a] lie! I do not flee to the Chaldeans! But he would not listen to him. So Irajah caught Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.

15. അതിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവു സിദെക്കീയാവോടുഞാന് അതു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചാല് എന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ലയോ? ഞാന് ഒരു ആലോചന പറഞ്ഞു തന്നാല് എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കയില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And the princes were very angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and sent him into the house of Jonathan the scribe, for they had turned [his house] into a prison.

16. സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവുഈ പ്രാണനെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചുതന്ന യഹോവയാണ, ഞാന് നിന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ല; നിനക്കു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാന് നോക്കുന്ന ഈ മനുഷ്യരുടെ കയ്യില് ഞാന് നിന്നെ ഏല്പിക്കയുമില്ല എന്നു യിരെമ്യാവോടു രഹസ്യമായി സത്യംചെയ്തു.

16. So Jeremiah came into the dungeon, and into the cells, and he remained there many days.

17. എന്നാറെ യിരെമ്യാവു സിദെക്കീയാവോടുയിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായി സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുബാബേല് രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു ചെന്നാല് നിനക്കു പ്രാണരക്ഷയുണ്ടാകും; ഈ നഗരത്തെ തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളകയുമില്ല; നീയും നിന്റെ ഗൃഹവും ജീവനോടെ ഇരിക്കും.

17. Then Zedekiah sent, and called him; and the king asked him secretly, saying, Is there a word from the Lord? And he said, There is. You shall be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon.

18. നീ ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു ചെല്ലാഞ്ഞാലോ ഈ നഗരം കല്ദയരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടും; അവര് അതിനെ തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയും; നീ അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു തെറ്റിയൊഴികയുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And Jeremiah said to the king, How have I wronged you, or your servants, or this people, that you have put me in prison?

19. സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവു യിരെമ്യാവോടുകല്ദയര് എന്നെ അവരുടെ പക്ഷം ചേര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കയും അവര് എന്നെ അപമാനിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമെന്നു ഞാന് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. And where are your prophets who prophesied to you saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against this land?

20. അതിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവു പറഞ്ഞതുഅവര് നിന്നെ ഏല്പിക്കയില്ല; ഞാന് ബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന യഹോയുടെ വചനം കേള്ക്കേണമേ; എന്നാല് നിനക്കു നന്നായിരിക്കും; നിനക്കു പ്രാണരക്ഷയുണ്ടാകും.

20. Now therefore, my lord the king, let my supplication come before your face; and why do you send me back to the house of Jonathan the scribe? And by no means let me die there.

21. പുറത്തു ചെല്ലുവാന് നിനക്കു മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കിലോ, യഹോവ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിത്തന്ന അരുളപ്പാടാവിതു

21. Then the king commanded, and they cast him into the prison, and gave him a loaf a day out of the place where they bake, until the bread failed out of the city. So Jeremiah continued in the court of the prison.
