1. ദാവീദിന്റെ അന്ത്യവാക്യങ്ങളാവിതുയിശ്ശായിപ്പുത്രന് ദാവീദ് ചൊല്ലുന്നു; ഔന്നത്യം പ്രാപിച്ച പുരുഷന് ചൊല്ലുന്നു; യാക്കോബിന് ദൈവത്താല് അഭിഷിക്തന് , യിസ്രായേലിന് മധുരഗായകന് തന്നേ.

1. Now these [are] the last words of David. David, the son of Jesse, said, and the man [who was] raised up high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet cantor of Israel, said,

2. യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു എന്നില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ വചനം എന്റെ നാവിന്മേല് ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

2. (The Spirit of the LORD has spoken by me, and his word [has been] in my tongue.

3. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവം കല്പിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന് പാറ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തുമനുഷ്യരെ നീതിമാനായി ഭരിക്കുന്നവന് ,

3. The God of Israel dictated unto me, the strong One of Israel spoke): He that rules over men [must be] just, ruling in the fear of God.

4. ദൈവഭയത്തോടെ വാഴുന്നവന് , മേഘമില്ലാത്ത പ്രഭാതകാലത്തു സുര്യോദയത്തിങ്കലെ പ്രകാശത്തിന്നു തുല്യന് ; മഴെക്കു പിമ്പു സൂര്യകാന്തിയാല് ഭൂമിയില് മുളെക്കുന്ന ഇളമ്പുല്ലിന്നു തുല്യന് .

4. And as the light of the morning when the sun rises, of a morning shining forth without clouds, [as] the shining forth through light rain [upon the] tender grass of the earth:

5. ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് എന്റെ ഗൃഹം അതു പോലെയല്ലയോ? അവന് എന്നോടു ഒരു ശാശ്വതനിയമം ചെയ്തുവല്ലോഅതു എല്ലാറ്റിലും സ്ഥാപിതവും സ്ഥിരവുമായിരിക്കുന്നു. അവന് എനിക്കു സകലരക്ഷയും വാഞ്ഛയും തഴെപ്പിക്കയില്ലയോ?

5. shall not my house be so with God, although all my saving health and my desire shall not be produced yet? For he has made an everlasting covenant with me, ordered in all [things], and it shall be kept;

6. എന്നാല് സകലനീചന്മാരും എറിഞ്ഞുകിടക്കുന്നതും കൈകൊണ്ടു പിടിച്ചുകൂടാത്തതുമായ മുള്ളുപോലെ ആകുന്നു.

6. but those of Belial [shall] all be as thorns to be chased away, whom no one takes with the hand;

7. അവയെ തൊടുവാന് തുനിയുന്നവന് ഇരിമ്പും കുന്തപ്പിടിയും ധരിച്ചിരിക്കേണം; അവയെ അവ കിടക്കുന്നേടത്തു തന്നേ തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയേണം.

7. but the one [that] desires to touch them must be armed with iron and the staff of a spear, and they are completely burned with fire in their place.

8. ദാവീദിന്നു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന വീരന്മാരുടെ പേരുകളാവിതുതഹ്കെമോന്യന് യോശേബ്-ബശ്ശേബെത്ത്; അവന് നായകന്മാരില് തലവന് ; എണ്ണൂറുപേരെ ഒരേ സമയത്തു ആക്രമിച്ചു കൊന്ന എസ്ന്യന് അദീനോ ഇവന് തന്നേ.

8. These [are] the names of the mighty men whom David had: he that sat in the seat of wisdom, chief among the three: Adino, the Eznite, who on one occasion slew eight hundred enemies.

9. അവന്റെ ശേഷം ഒരു അഹോഹ്യന്റെ മകനായ ദോദായിയുടെ മകന് എലെയാസാര്; അവന് ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു കൂടിയിരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തുനിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്യര് പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞപ്പോള് ദാവീദിനോടുകൂടെ നിന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ വെല്ലുവിളിച്ച മൂന്നു വീരന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തന് ആയിരുന്നു.

9. And after him [was] Eleazar, the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, [one] of the three mighty men who [were] with David, when they defied the Philistines [that] were there gathered together to battle, and those of Israel were gone away.

10. അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു കൈതളര്ന്നു വാളോടു പറ്റിപ്പോകുംവരെ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ വെട്ടി; അന്നു യഹോവ വലിയോരു ജയം നല്കി; കൊള്ളയിടുവാന് മാത്രമേ പടജ്ജനം അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിവന്നുള്ളു.

10. He arose and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword; and the LORD wrought a great salvation that day, and the people returned after him only to spoil.

11. അവന്റ ശേഷം ഹാരാര്യ്യനായ ആഗേയുടെ മകനായ ശമ്മാ; ഒരിക്കല്; ചെറുപയര് ഉള്ളോരു വയലില് കവര്ച്ചെക്കു ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് കൂടിവന്നപ്പോള് ജനം ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു ഔടിപ്പോയി.

11. And after him [was] Shammah, the son of Agee, the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a community, where was an inheritance of land full of lentils, and the people had fled before the Philistines.

12. അവനോ വയലിന്റെ നടുവില്നിന്നു അതിനെ കാത്തു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ വെട്ടി; യഹോവ വലിയോരു ജയം നല്കി.

12. But he stood in the midst of the inheritance and defended it and slew the Philistines, and the LORD wrought a great salvation.

13. മുപ്പതു നായകന്മാരില് മൂന്നുപേര് കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തു അദുല്ലാംഗുഹയില് ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു; ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ സൈന്യം രെഫായീംതാഴ്വരയില് പാളയമിറങ്ങിയിരുന്നു.

13. [These] three, [who were] of the thirty chief, went down and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam, and the camp of the Philistines was pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

14. അന്നു ദാവീദ് ദുര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് ആയിരുന്നു; ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്ക്കും ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമില് അക്കാലത്തു ഒരു കാവല്പട്ടാളം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

14. And David [was] then in the fortress, and the garrison of the Philistines [was] in Bethlehem.

15. ബേത്ത്ളേഹെംപട്ടണവാതില്ക്കലെ കിണറ്റില്നിന്നു വെള്ളം എനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാന് ആര് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു തരും എന്നു ദാവീദ് ആര്ത്തിപൂണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And David longed and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which [is] by the gate!

16. അപ്പോള് ആ മൂന്നു വീരന്മാരും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പാളയത്തില്കൂടി കടന്നുചെന്നു ബേത്ത്ളേഹെംപട്ടണവാതില്ക്കലെ കിണറ്റില് നിന്നു വെള്ളം കോരി ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവനോ അതു കുടിപ്പാന് മനസ്സില്ലാതെ യഹോവേക്കു നിവേദിച്ചു ഒഴിച്ചു

16. Then [these] three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that [was] by the gate and took [it] and brought [it] to David; nevertheless, he would not drink of it, but poured it out unto the LORD, saying,

17. യഹോവേ, തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാണനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുപോയ പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ രക്തം ഞാന് കുടിക്കയോ? ഇതു ചെയ്വാന് എനിക്കു സംഗതിവരരുതേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതു കുടിപ്പാന് അവന്നു മനസ്സില്ലായിരുന്നു. ഇതാകുന്നു ഈ മൂന്നു വീരന്മാര് ചെയ്തതു.

17. Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this; [is not this] the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? And he would not drink it. These three mighty men did this.

18. യോവാബിന്റെ സഹോദരനും സെരൂയയുടെ മകനുമായ അബീശായി മൂന്നുപേരില് തലവന് ആയിരുന്നു. അവന് തന്റെ കുന്തത്തെ മന്നൂറുപേരുടെ നേരെ ഔങ്ങി, അവരെ കൊന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് മൂവരില്വെച്ചു കീര്ത്തി പ്രാപിച്ചു.

18. And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred [and] slew [them] and had [a] name among the three.

19. അവന് മൂവരിലും മാനം ഏറിയവന് ആയിരുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും തലവനായ്തീര്ന്നു. എന്നാല് അവന് മറ്റെ മൂവരോളം വരികയില്ല.

19. He was the most honourable of the three and captain among them; however, he did not attain unto the [first] three.

20. കബ്സേലില് ഒരു പരാക്രമശാലിയുടെ മകനായ യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകന് ബെനായാവും വീര്യപ്രവൃത്തികള് ചെയ്തു; അവന് മോവാബിലെ അരീയേലിന്റെ രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരെ സംഹരിച്ചതുമല്ലാതെ ഹിമകാലത്തു ഒരു ഗുഹയില് ചെന്നു ഒരു സിംഹത്തെയും കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

20. [Then], Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, slew two lions of Moab; he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow.

21. അവന് കോമളനായ ഒരു മിസ്രയീമ്യനെയും സംഹരിച്ചു; മിസ്രയീമ്യന്റെ കയ്യില് ഒരു കുന്തം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവനോ ഒരു വടിയുംകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു മിസ്രയീമ്യന്റെ കയ്യില് നിന്നും കുന്തം പിടിച്ചുപറിച്ചു കുന്തംകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കൊന്നു.

21. He also slew an Egyptian, a man of [great] stature, and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, but he went down to him with a staff and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand and slew him with his own spear.

22. ഇതു യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവു ചെയ്തു, മൂന്നു വീരന്മാരില് കീര്ത്തി പ്രാപിച്ചു.

22. These [things] did Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, and had [a] name among the three mighty men.

23. അവന് മുപ്പതുപേരില് മാനമേറിയവനായിരുന്നു എങ്കിലും മറ്റെ മൂന്നുപേരോളം വരികയില്ല. ദാവീദ് അവനെ അകമ്പടിനായകനാക്കി.

23. He had more honour than the thirty, but he did not attain to the [first] three. And David put him in his council.

24. യോവാബിയന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അസാഹേല് മുപ്പതുപേരില് ഒരുത്തന് ആയിരുന്നു; അവര് ആരെന്നാല്ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമ്യനായ ദോദോവിന്റെ മകന് എല്ഹാനാന് , ഹരോദ്യന് ശമ്മാ, ഹരോദ്യന് എലീക്കാ,

24. Asahel, the brother of Joab [was] one of the thirty; Elhanan, the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

25. പല്ത്യന് ഹേലെസ്, തെക്കോവ്യനായ ഇക്കേശിന്റെ മകന് ഈരാ,

25. Shammah of Harodi, Elika of Harodi,

26. അനഥോത്യന് അബീയേസെര്, ഹൂശാത്യന് മെബുന്നായി, അഹോഹ്യന് സല്മോന് ,

26. Helez of Palti, Ira, the son of Ikkesh of Tekoah,

27. നെത്തോഫാത്യന് മഹരായി,

27. Abiezer of Anethoth, Mebunnai of Hushath,

28. നെത്തോഫാത്യനായ ബാനയുടെ മകന് ഹേലെബ്,

28. Zalmon of Ahoh, Maharai of Netophath,

29. ബെന്യാമീന്യരുടെ ഗിബെയയില്നിന്നുള്ള രീബായിയുടെ മകന് ഇത്ഥായി,

29. Heleb, the son of Baanah of Netophath, Ittai, the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the sons of Benjamin,

30. പിരാതോന്യന് ബെനായ്യാവു,

30. Benaiah, the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,

31. നഹലേഗാശുകാരന് ഹിദ്ദായി, അര്ബാത്യന് അബീ-അല്ബോന് , ബര്ഹൂമ്യന് അസ്മാവെത്ത്,

31. Abialbon of Arbath, Azmaveth of Barhum,

32. ശാല്ബോന്യന് എല്യഹ്ബാ, യാശേന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര്

32. Eliahba of Shaalbon, Jonathan of the sons of Jashen,

33. യോനാഥാന് , ഹരാര്യ്യന് ശമ്മ, അരാര്യ്യനായ ശാരാരിന്റെ മകന് അഹീരാം,

33. Shammah of Harar, Ahiam, the son of Sharar of Harar,

34. മാഖാത്യന്റെ മകനായ അഹശ്ബായിയുടെ മകന് എലീഫേലെത്, ഗിലോന്യനായ അഹീഥോഫെലിന്റെ മകന് എലീയാം,

34. Eliphelet, the son of Ahasbai, the son of Maachath, Eliam, the son of Ahithophel of Gilon,

35. കര്മ്മേല്യന് ഹെസ്രോ, അര്ബ്യന് പാറായി,

35. Hezrai of Carmel, Paarai of Arbi,

36. സോബക്കാരനായ നാഥാന്റെ മകന് യിഗാല്,

36. Igal, the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani of Gadi,

37. ഗാദ്യന് ബാനി, സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ യോവാബിന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകന്മാരായ അമ്മോന്യന് സേലെക്ക്, ബെരോത്യന് നഹരായി.

37. Zelek of Ammon, Naharai of Beeroth, armourbearer to Joab, the son of Zeruiah,

38. യിത്രിയന് ഈരാ, യിത്രിയന് ഗാരേബ്,

38. Ira of Ithri, Gareb of Ithri,

39. ഹിത്യന് ഊരീയാവു ഇങ്ങനെ ആകെ മുപ്പത്തേഴുപേര്.

39. Uriah, the Hittite: thirty-seven in all.:
