1. വെള്ളിക്കു ഒരു ഉത്ഭവസ്ഥാനവും പൊന്നു ഊതിക്കഴിപ്പാന് ഒരു സ്ഥലവും ഉണ്ടു.

1. There are mines where people get silver and places where people melt gold to make it pure.

2. ഇരിമ്പു മണ്ണില്നിന്നെടുക്കുന്നു; കല്ലുരുക്കി ചെമ്പെടുക്കുന്നു.

2. Iron is dug out of the ground, and copper is melted out of the rocks.

3. മനുഷ്യന് അന്ധകാരത്തിന്നു ഒരതിര് വെക്കുന്നു; കൂരിരുളിലെയും അന്ധതമസ്സിലെയും കല്ലിനെ അങ്ങേയറ്റംവരെ ശോധന ചെയ്യുന്നു.

3. Miners carry lights deep into caves to search for these rocks in the deepest darkness.

4. പാര്പ്പുള്ളേടത്തുനിന്നു ദൂരെ അവര് കുഴികുത്തുന്നു; കടന്നുപോകുന്ന കാലിന്നു അവര് മറന്നു പോയവര് തന്നേ; മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും അകലെ അവര് തൂങ്ങി ആടുന്നു.

4. Far from where people live, they dig deep into the ground, down where no one else has been before. There they work all alone, hanging from ropes.

5. ഭൂമിയില്നിന്നു ആഹാരം ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു; അതിന്റെ അധോഭാഗം തീകൊണ്ടെന്നപോലെ മറിയുന്നു.

5. Food grows on the ground above. But underground it is different, as if everything were melted by fire.

6. അതിലെ പാറകള് നീലരത്നത്തിന്റെ ഉല്പത്തിസ്ഥാനം; കനകപ്പൊടിയും അതില് ഉണ്ടു.

6. In the rocks there are sapphires and grains of pure gold.

7. അതിന്റെ പാത കഴുകന് അറിയുന്നില്ല; പരുന്തിന്റെ കണ്ണു അതിനെ കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല.

7. Wild birds know nothing about the way to these places. No falcon has ever seen it.

8. പുളെച്ച കാട്ടുമൃഗങ്ങള് അതില് ചവിട്ടീട്ടില്ല; ഘോരസിംഹം അതിലെ നടന്നിട്ടുമില്ല.

8. Wild animals have never been there. Lions have not traveled that way.

9. അവര് തീക്കല്പാറയിലേക്കു കൈനീട്ടുന്നു; പര്വ്വതങ്ങളെ അവര് വേരോടെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

9. Miners dig the hardest rocks. They dig away at the mountains and make them bare.

10. അവര് പാറകളുടെ ഇടയില്കൂടി നടകളെ വെട്ടുന്നു; അവരുടെ കണ്ണു വിലയേറിയ വസ്തുക്കളെയൊക്കെയും കാണുന്നു.

10. They cut tunnels through the rocks and see all the treasures they hold.

11. അവര് നീരൊഴുക്കുകളെ ചോരാതവണ്ണം അടെച്ചു നിര്ത്തുന്നു; ഗുപ്തമായിരിക്കുന്നതു അവര് വെളിച്ചത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു.

11. They even find places where rivers begin. They bring to light what once was hidden.

12. എന്നാല് ജ്ഞാനം എവിടെ കണ്ടുകിട്ടും? വിവേകത്തിന്റെ ഉത്ഭവസ്ഥാനം എവിടെ?

12. But where can anyone find wisdom? Where can we get understanding?

13. അതിന്റെ വില മനുഷ്യന് അറിയുന്നില്ല; ജീവനുള്ളവരുടെ ദേശത്തു അതിനെ കണ്ടെത്തുന്നില്ല.

13. People don't know where wisdom is. It cannot be found by anyone on earth.

14. അതു എന്നില് ഇല്ല എന്നു ആഴി പറയുന്നു; അതു എന്റെ പക്കല് ഇല്ല എന്നു സമുദ്രവും പറയുന്നു.

14. The deep ocean says, 'It's not here with me.' The sea says, 'It's not here with me.'

15. തങ്കം കൊടുത്താല് അതു കിട്ടുന്നതല്ല; അതിന്റെ വിലയായി വെള്ളി തൂക്കിക്കൊടുക്കാറുമില്ല.

15. You cannot buy wisdom with even the purest gold. There's not enough silver in the world to pay for it.

16. ഔഫീര്പൊന്നോ വിലയേറിയ ഗോമേദകമോ നീലരത്നമോ ഒന്നും അതിന്നു ഈടാകുന്നതല്ല;

16. You cannot buy it with gold from Ophir or with precious onyx or sapphires.

17. സ്വര്ണ്ണവും സ്ഫടികവും അതിനോടു ഒക്കുന്നില്ല; തങ്കം കൊണ്ടുള്ള പണ്ടങ്ങള്ക്കു അതിനെ മാറിക്കൊടുപ്പാറില്ല.

17. Wisdom is worth more than gold or crystal. It cannot be bought with expensive jewels set in gold.

18. പവിഴത്തിന്റെയും പളുങ്കിന്റെയും പേര് മിണ്ടുകേ വേണ്ടാ; ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ വില മുത്തുകളിലും കവിഞ്ഞതല്ലോ.

18. It is far more valuable than coral and jasper, more precious than rubies.

19. കൂശിലെ പുഷ്പരാഗം അതിനോടു ഒക്കുന്നില്ല; തങ്കംകൊണ്ടു അതിന്റെ വില മതിക്കാകുന്നതുമല്ല.

19. The topaz from Ethiopia cannot match its value, which is greater than the purest gold.

20. പിന്നെ ജ്ഞാനം എവിടെനിന്നു വരുന്നു? വിവേകത്തിന്റെ ഉത്ഭവസ്ഥാനം എവിടെ?

20. 'So where does wisdom come from? Where can we find understanding?

21. അതു സകലജീവികളുടെയും കണ്ണുകള്ക്കു മറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികള്ക്കു അതു ഗുപ്തമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

21. Wisdom is hidden from every living thing on earth. Even birds in the sky cannot see it.

22. ഞങ്ങളുടെ ചെവികൊണ്ടു അതിന്റെ കേള്വി കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു എന്നു നരകവും മരണവും പറയുന്നു.

22. Death and destruction say, 'We have never seen wisdom; we have only heard rumors about it.'

23. ദൈവം അതിന്റെ വഴി അറിയുന്നു; അതിന്റെ ഉത്ഭവസ്ഥാനം അവന്നു നിശ്ചയമുണ്ടു.

23. Only God knows the way to wisdom. Only he knows where wisdom is.

24. അവന് ഭൂമിയുടെ അറ്റങ്ങളോളവും നോക്കുന്നു; ആകാശത്തിന്റെ കീഴിലൊക്കെയും കാണുന്നു.

24. He can see to the very ends of the earth. He sees everything under the sky.

25. അവന് കാറ്റിനെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുകയും വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ അളവു നിശ്ചയിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

25. God gave the wind its power. He decided how big to make the oceans.

26. അവന് മഴെക്കു ഒരു നിയമവും ഇടിമിന്നലിന്നു ഒരു വഴിയും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയപ്പോള്

26. He decided where to send the rain and where the thunderstorms should go.

27. അവന് അതു കണ്ടു വര്ണ്ണിക്കയും അതു സ്ഥാപിച്ചു പരിശോധിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

27. He looked at wisdom and discussed it. He examined it and saw how much it is worth.

28. കര്ത്താവിനോടുള്ള ഭക്തി തന്നേ ജ്ഞാനം; ദോഷം അകന്നു നടക്കുന്നതു തന്നേ വിവേകം എന്നു അവന് മനുഷ്യനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

28. Then he said to humans, 'To fear and respect the Lord is wisdom. To turn away from evil is understanding.''
