1. വെള്ളിക്കു ഒരു ഉത്ഭവസ്ഥാനവും പൊന്നു ഊതിക്കഴിപ്പാന് ഒരു സ്ഥലവും ഉണ്ടു.

1. Surely there is a mine for the silver, and a place where they refine gold.

2. ഇരിമ്പു മണ്ണില്നിന്നെടുക്കുന്നു; കല്ലുരുക്കി ചെമ്പെടുക്കുന്നു.

2. Iron is taken out of the earth, and bronze is smelted from stone.

3. മനുഷ്യന് അന്ധകാരത്തിന്നു ഒരതിര് വെക്കുന്നു; കൂരിരുളിലെയും അന്ധതമസ്സിലെയും കല്ലിനെ അങ്ങേയറ്റംവരെ ശോധന ചെയ്യുന്നു.

3. He sets an end to darkness, and to every extremity He searches out a stone of darkness and death-shade.

4. പാര്പ്പുള്ളേടത്തുനിന്നു ദൂരെ അവര് കുഴികുത്തുന്നു; കടന്നുപോകുന്ന കാലിന്നു അവര് മറന്നു പോയവര് തന്നേ; മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും അകലെ അവര് തൂങ്ങി ആടുന്നു.

4. He opens a shaft far from the visitor; they are forgotten by man's foot; they hang far from men; they swing to and fro.

5. ഭൂമിയില്നിന്നു ആഹാരം ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു; അതിന്റെ അധോഭാഗം തീകൊണ്ടെന്നപോലെ മറിയുന്നു.

5. As to the earth, out of it comes bread; and underneath it, it is turned up like fire.

6. അതിലെ പാറകള് നീലരത്നത്തിന്റെ ഉല്പത്തിസ്ഥാനം; കനകപ്പൊടിയും അതില് ഉണ്ടു.

6. The place of sapphires is in its stones, and it has dust of gold.

7. അതിന്റെ പാത കഴുകന് അറിയുന്നില്ല; പരുന്തിന്റെ കണ്ണു അതിനെ കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല.

7. There is a path not known to birds of prey, nor has a falcon's eye caught sight of it;

8. പുളെച്ച കാട്ടുമൃഗങ്ങള് അതില് ചവിട്ടീട്ടില്ല; ഘോരസിംഹം അതിലെ നടന്നിട്ടുമില്ല.

8. the sons of pride have not trodden on it; the lion has not passed by it.

9. അവര് തീക്കല്പാറയിലേക്കു കൈനീട്ടുന്നു; പര്വ്വതങ്ങളെ അവര് വേരോടെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

9. He places his hand on the flint places; He overturns mountains by the roots.

10. അവര് പാറകളുടെ ഇടയില്കൂടി നടകളെ വെട്ടുന്നു; അവരുടെ കണ്ണു വിലയേറിയ വസ്തുക്കളെയൊക്കെയും കാണുന്നു.

10. He cuts out rivers among the rocks, and His eye sees every precious thing.

11. അവര് നീരൊഴുക്കുകളെ ചോരാതവണ്ണം അടെച്ചു നിര്ത്തുന്നു; ഗുപ്തമായിരിക്കുന്നതു അവര് വെളിച്ചത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു.

11. He restrains the floods from overflowing; and He brings the hidden thing to light.

12. എന്നാല് ജ്ഞാനം എവിടെ കണ്ടുകിട്ടും? വിവേകത്തിന്റെ ഉത്ഭവസ്ഥാനം എവിടെ?

12. But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?

13. അതിന്റെ വില മനുഷ്യന് അറിയുന്നില്ല; ജീവനുള്ളവരുടെ ദേശത്തു അതിനെ കണ്ടെത്തുന്നില്ല.

13. Man does not know its value, nor is it found in the land of the living.

14. അതു എന്നില് ഇല്ല എന്നു ആഴി പറയുന്നു; അതു എന്റെ പക്കല് ഇല്ല എന്നു സമുദ്രവും പറയുന്നു.

14. The deep says, It is not in me; and the sea says, It is not with me.

15. തങ്കം കൊടുത്താല് അതു കിട്ടുന്നതല്ല; അതിന്റെ വിലയായി വെള്ളി തൂക്കിക്കൊടുക്കാറുമില്ല.

15. Pure gold cannot be given instead of it, and silver cannot be weighed as its price.

16. ഔഫീര്പൊന്നോ വിലയേറിയ ഗോമേദകമോ നീലരത്നമോ ഒന്നും അതിന്നു ഈടാകുന്നതല്ല;

16. It cannot be weighed against the gold of Ophir, against precious onyx, or sapphire;

17. സ്വര്ണ്ണവും സ്ഫടികവും അതിനോടു ഒക്കുന്നില്ല; തങ്കം കൊണ്ടുള്ള പണ്ടങ്ങള്ക്കു അതിനെ മാറിക്കൊടുപ്പാറില്ല.

17. gold and crystal cannot be ranked with it, nor its exchange a vessel of fine gold.

18. പവിഴത്തിന്റെയും പളുങ്കിന്റെയും പേര് മിണ്ടുകേ വേണ്ടാ; ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ വില മുത്തുകളിലും കവിഞ്ഞതല്ലോ.

18. Coral and rock crystal cannot be mentioned; yea, the getting of wisdom is above jewels.

19. കൂശിലെ പുഷ്പരാഗം അതിനോടു ഒക്കുന്നില്ല; തങ്കംകൊണ്ടു അതിന്റെ വില മതിക്കാകുന്നതുമല്ല.

19. The topaz of Ethiopia cannot be ranked with it; it cannot be weighed against pure gold.

20. പിന്നെ ജ്ഞാനം എവിടെനിന്നു വരുന്നു? വിവേകത്തിന്റെ ഉത്ഭവസ്ഥാനം എവിടെ?

20. Where then does wisdom come from, and where is the place of understanding?

21. അതു സകലജീവികളുടെയും കണ്ണുകള്ക്കു മറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികള്ക്കു അതു ഗുപ്തമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

21. Yea, it is hidden from the eyes of all living, and concealed from the birds of the heavens;

22. ഞങ്ങളുടെ ചെവികൊണ്ടു അതിന്റെ കേള്വി കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു എന്നു നരകവും മരണവും പറയുന്നു.

22. the Place of Ruin and Death say, We have heard its fame with our ears.

23. ദൈവം അതിന്റെ വഴി അറിയുന്നു; അതിന്റെ ഉത്ഭവസ്ഥാനം അവന്നു നിശ്ചയമുണ്ടു.

23. God knows its way, and He knows its place.

24. അവന് ഭൂമിയുടെ അറ്റങ്ങളോളവും നോക്കുന്നു; ആകാശത്തിന്റെ കീഴിലൊക്കെയും കാണുന്നു.

24. For He looks to the ends of the earth, and sees under all the heavens;

25. അവന് കാറ്റിനെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുകയും വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ അളവു നിശ്ചയിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

25. making a weight for the winds and measuring out the waters by measure.

26. അവന് മഴെക്കു ഒരു നിയമവും ഇടിമിന്നലിന്നു ഒരു വഴിയും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയപ്പോള്

26. When He made a decree for the rain, and a way for the flash, the thunderclap,

27. അവന് അതു കണ്ടു വര്ണ്ണിക്കയും അതു സ്ഥാപിച്ചു പരിശോധിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

27. then He saw it, and declared it; He prepared it, and He also searched it out.

28. കര്ത്താവിനോടുള്ള ഭക്തി തന്നേ ജ്ഞാനം; ദോഷം അകന്നു നടക്കുന്നതു തന്നേ വിവേകം എന്നു അവന് മനുഷ്യനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

28. And to man He said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom! And to turn from evil is understanding.
