1. എന്നാല് ഏഴാം മാസത്തില് രാജവംശക്കാരനും രാജാവിന്റെ മഹത്തുക്കളില് ഒരുവനുമായി എലീശാമയുടെ മകനായ നെഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകന് യിശ്മായേല് പത്തു ആളുമായി മിസ്പയില് അഹീക്കാമിന്റെ മകനായ ഗെദല്യാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു; അവിടെ മിസ്പയില്വെച്ചു അവര് ഒന്നിച്ചു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.

1. The LORD gave a message to Jeremiah after Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, had released him at Ramah. He had found Jeremiah bound in chains among all the other captives of Jerusalem and Judah who were being sent to exile in Babylon.

2. നെഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകന് യിശ്മായേലും കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പത്തു ആളും എഴുന്നേറ്റു, ബാബേല്രാജാവു ദേശാധിപതിയാക്കിയിരുന്ന ശാഫാന്റെ മകനായ അഹീക്കാമിന്റെ മകനായ ഗെദല്യാവെ വാള്കൊണ്ടു വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു.

2. The captain of the guard called for Jeremiah and said, 'The LORD your God has brought this disaster on this land,

3. മിസ്പയില് ഗെദല്യാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന എല്ലാ യെഹൂദന്മാരെയും അവിടെ കണ്ട കല്ദയപടയാളികളെയും യിശ്മായേല് കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

3. just as he said he would. For these people have sinned against the LORD and disobeyed him. That is why it happened.

4. ഗെദല്യാവെ കൊന്നിട്ടു രണ്ടാം ദിവസം, അതു ആരും അറിയാതിരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ,

4. But I am going to take off your chains and let you go. If you want to come with me to Babylon, you are welcome. I will see that you are well cared for. But if you don't want to come, you may stay here. The whole land is before you-- go wherever you like.

5. ശെഖേമില്നിന്നും ശീലോവില്നിന്നും ശമര്യ്യയില്നിന്നും എണ്പതു പുരുഷന്മാര് താടി ചിരെച്ചും വസ്ത്രം കീറിയും തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ മുറിവേല്പിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു വഴിപാടും കുന്തുരുക്കവും എടുത്തു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു പോകുംവഴി അവിടെ എത്തി.

5. If you decide to stay, then return to Gedaliah son of Ahikam and grandson of Shaphan. He has been appointed governor of Judah by the king of Babylon. Stay there with the people he rules. But it's up to you; go wherever you like.' Then Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, gave Jeremiah some food and money and let him go.

6. നെഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകന് യിശ്മായേല് മിസ്പയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു കരഞ്ഞുംകൊണ്ടു അവരെ എതിരേറ്റു ചെന്നു; അവരെ കണ്ടപ്പോള് അവന് അവരോടുഅഹീക്കാമിന്റെ മകനായ ഗെദല്യാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. So Jeremiah returned to Gedaliah son of Ahikam at Mizpah, and he lived in Judah with the few who were still left in the land.

7. അവര് പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ നടുവില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് നെഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യിശ്മായേലും കൂടെയുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ആളുകളും അവരെ കൊന്നു ഒരു കുഴിയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

7. The leaders of the Judean guerrilla bands in the countryside heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam as governor over the poor people who were left behind in Judah-- the men, women, and children who hadn't been exiled to Babylon.

8. എന്നാല് അവരില് പത്തുപേര് യിശ്മായേലിനോടുഞങ്ങളെ കൊല്ലരുതേ; വയലില് കോതമ്പു, യവം, എണ്ണ, തേന് എന്നീവക സംഭാരങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങള് ഒളിച്ചുവെച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് സമ്മതിച്ചു അവരെ അവരുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരോടുകൂടെ കൊല്ലാതെയിരുന്നു.

8. So they went to see Gedaliah at Mizpah. These included: Ishmael son of Nethaniah, Johanan and Jonathan sons of Kareah, Seraiah son of Tanhumeth, the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, Jezaniah son of the Maacathite, and all their men.

9. യിശ്മായേല് ഗെദല്യാവെയും കൂട്ടരെയും കൊന്നു ശവങ്ങളെ എല്ലാം ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞ കുഴി ആസാരാജാവു യിസ്രായേല് രാജാവായ ബയശാനിമിത്തം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയതായിരുന്നു; നെഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യിശ്മായേല് അതിനെ നിഹതന്മാരെക്കൊണ്ടു നിറെച്ചു.

9. Gedaliah vowed to them that the Babylonians meant them no harm. 'Don't be afraid to serve them. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and all will go well for you,' he promised.

10. പിന്നെ യിശ്മായേല് മിസ്പയില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ജനശിഷ്ടത്തെ ഒക്കെയും രാജകുമാരികളെയും അകമ്പടിനായകനായ നെബൂസര്-അദാന് അഹീക്കാമിന്റെ മകനായ ഗെദല്യാവെ ഏല്പിച്ചവരായി മിസ്പയില് ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്ന സകലജനത്തെയും ബദ്ധരാക്കി കൊണ്ടുപോയി; നെഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകന് യിശ്മായേല് അവരെ ബദ്ധരാക്കി അമ്മോന്യരുടെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടു പോകുവാന് യാത്ര പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

10. 'As for me, I will stay at Mizpah to represent you before the Babylonians who come to meet with us. Settle in the towns you have taken, and live off the land. Harvest the grapes and summer fruits and olives, and store them away.'

11. നെഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകന് യിശ്മായേല് ചെയ്ത ദോഷം ഒക്കെയും കാരേഹിന്റെ മകനായ യോഹാനാനും കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പടത്തലവന്മാരും കേട്ടപ്പോള്

11. When the Judeans in Moab, Ammon, Edom, and the other nearby countries heard that the king of Babylon had left a few people in Judah and that Gedaliah was the governor,

12. അവര് സകലപുരുഷന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു നെഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യിശ്മായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്വാന് ചെന്നു, ഗിബെയോനിലെ പെരിങ്കളങ്ങരെ വെച്ചു അവനെ കണ്ടെത്തി.

12. they began to return to Judah from the places to which they had fled. They stopped at Mizpah to meet with Gedaliah and then went into the Judean countryside to gather a great harvest of grapes and other crops.

13. യിശ്മായേലിനോടു കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ജനമൊക്കെയും കാരേഹിന്റെ മകനായ യോഹാനാനെയും കൂടെയുണ്ടായിരുന്ന എല്ലാ പടത്തലവന്മാരെയും കണ്ടപ്പോള് സന്തോഷിച്ചു.

13. Soon after this, Johanan son of Kareah and the other guerrilla leaders came to Gedaliah at Mizpah.

14. യിശ്മായേല് മിസ്പയില്നിന്നു ബദ്ധരാക്കി കൊണ്ടുപോന്നിരുന്ന സര്വ്വജനവും തിരിഞ്ഞു, കാരേഹിന്റെ മകനായ യോഹാനാന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചേര്ന്നു.

14. They said to him, 'Did you know that Baalis, king of Ammon, has sent Ishmael son of Nethaniah to assassinate you?' But Gedaliah refused to believe them.

15. നെഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകന് യിശ്മായേലോ എട്ടു ആളുമായി യോഹാനാനെ വിട്ടു തെറ്റി അമ്മോന്യരുടെ അടുക്കല് പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞു.

15. Later Johanan had a private conference with Gedaliah and volunteered to kill Ishmael secretly. 'Why should we let him come and murder you?' Johanan asked. 'What will happen then to the Judeans who have returned? Why should the few of us who are still left be scattered and lost?'

16. നെഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകന് യിശ്മായേല് അഹീക്കാമിന്റെ മകനായ ഗെദല്യാവെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞശേഷം, അവന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു കാരേഹിന്റെ മകനായ യോഹാനാനും കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന എല്ലാപടത്തലവന്മാരും വിടുവിച്ച ജനശിഷ്ടത്തെ ഒക്കെയും, ഗിബെയോനില്നിന്നു തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന പടയാളികളെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും ഷണ്ഡന്മാരെയും തന്നേ, അവര് മിസ്പയില്നിന്നു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു,

16. But Gedaliah said to Johanan, 'I forbid you to do any such thing, for you are lying about Ishmael.'
