1. യേശു യോഹന്നാനെക്കാള് അധികം ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ ചേര്ത്തു സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പരീശന്മാര് കേട്ടു എന്നു കര്ത്താവു അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് —

1. When therefore the Lord knew, that the Pharisees had heard Jesus, more disciples, is making and immersing, than John,

2. ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അല്ലാതെ, യേശു തന്നേ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചില്ലതാനും —

2. although indeed, Jesus himself, was not immersing, but his disciples,

3. അവന് യെഹൂദ്യദേശം വിട്ടു പിന്നെയും ഗലീലെക്കു യാത്രയായി. അവന് ശമര്യയില്കൂടി കടന്നുപോകേണ്ടിവന്നു.

3. he left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.

4. അങ്ങനെ അവന് സുഖാര് എന്നൊരു ശമര്യപട്ടണത്തില് യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ പുത്രനായയോസേഫിന്നു കൊടുത്ത നിലത്തിന്നരികെ എത്തി. അവിടെ യാക്കോബിന്റെ ഉറവുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. യേശു വഴി നടന്നു ക്ഷീണിച്ചിട്ടു ഉറവിന്നരികെ ഇരുന്നു; അപ്പോള് ഏകദേശം ആറാം മണിനേരം ആയിരുന്നു.

4. Now he must needs pass through Samaria.

5. ഒരു ശമര്യസ്ത്രീ വെള്ളം കോരുവാന് വന്നു; യേശു അവളോടുഎനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാന് തരുമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

5. He cometh, therefore, unto a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the parcel of ground which Jacob gave unto Joseph his son.

6. അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങളെ കൊള്ളുവാന് പട്ടണത്തില് പോയിരുന്നു.

6. Now Jacob's fountain was there. Jesus, therefore, having become toil-worn with the journey, was sitting thus, upon the fountain. It was about the sixth hour.

7. ശമര്യസ്ത്രീ അവനോടുനീ യെഹൂദന് ആയിരിക്കെ ശമര്യക്കാരത്തിയായ എന്നോടു കുടിപ്പാന് ചോദിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും ശമര്യര്ക്കും തമ്മില് സമ്പര്ക്കമില്ല —

7. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus saith unto her Give me to drink!

8. അതിന്നു യേശുനീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാനവും നിന്നോടു കുടിപ്പാന് ചോദിക്കുന്നവന് ആരെന്നും അറിഞ്ഞു എങ്കില് നീ അവനോടു ചോദിക്കയും അവന് ജീവനുള്ള വെള്ളം നിനക്കു തരികയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

8. for, his disciples, had gone away into the city, that, food, they might buy.

9. സ്ത്രീ അവനോടുയജമാനനേ, നിനക്കു കോരുവാന് പാത്രം ഇല്ലല്ലോ; കിണറു ആഴമുള്ളതാകുന്നു; പിന്നെ ജീവനുള്ള വെള്ളം നിനക്കു എവിടെ നിന്നു?

9. The Samaritan woman, therefore, saith unto him How dost, thou, being, a Jew, ask to drink, of me, who am, a Samaritan woman? for, Jews, have no dealings with Samaritans.

10. നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ യാക്കോബിനെക്കാള് നീ വലിയവനോ? അവന് ആകുന്നു ഈ കിണറു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു തന്നതു; അവനും അവന്റെ മക്കളും മൃഗങ്ങളും ഇതിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചു പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Jesus answered, and said unto her If thou hadst known the free gift of God, and who it is that is saying unto thee, Give me to drink, thou, wouldst have asked him, and he would have given thee living water.

11. യേശു അവളോടുഈ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുന്നവന്നു എല്ലാം പിന്നെയും ദാഹിക്കും.

11. She saith unto him Sir! not even a bucket, hast thou, and, the well, is, deep: Whence, then, hast thou the living water?

12. ഞാന് കൊടുക്കുന്ന വെള്ളം കുടിക്കുന്നവന്നോ ഒരുനാളും ദാഹിക്കയില്ല; ഞാന് കൊടുക്കുന്ന വെള്ളം അവനില് നിത്യജീവങ്കലേക്കു പൊങ്ങിവരുന്ന നീരുറവായിത്തീരും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

12. Art, thou, greater than, our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and, himself, out of it drank, and his sons, and his flocks?

13. സ്ത്രീ അവനാടുയജമാനനേ, എനിക്കു ദാഹിക്കാതെയും ഞാന് കോരുവാന് ഇവിടത്തോളം വരാതെയുമിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആ വെള്ളം എനിക്കു തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. Jesus answered, and said unto her Whosoever drinketh of this water, will thirst, again;

14. യേശു അവളോടുപോയി ഭര്ത്താവിനെ വിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. But, whosoever shall drink of the water which, I, will give him, in nowise shall thirst, unto times age-abiding, but, the water which I will give him, shall become, within him, a fountain of water, springing up unto life age-abiding.

15. എനിക്കു ഭര്ത്താവു ഇല്ല എന്നുസ്ത്രീ അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഎനിക്കു ഭര്ത്താവു ഇല്ല എന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞതു ശരി.

15. The woman saith unto him Sir! give me this water, that I thirst not, neither be coming hither to draw.

16. അഞ്ചു ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാര് നിനക്കു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള് ഉള്ളവനോ ഭര്ത്താവല്ല; നീ പറഞ്ഞതു സത്യം തന്നേ എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. He saith unto her Go, call thy husband, and come hither!

17. സ്ത്രീ അവനോടുയജമാനനേ, നീ പ്രവാചകന് എന്നു ഞാന് കാണുന്നു.

17. The woman answered, and said unto him I have no husband. Jesus saith unto her Well, saidst thou, A husband, I have not;

18. ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് ഈ മലയില് നമസ്കരിച്ചുവന്നു; നമസ്കരിക്കേണ്ടുന്ന സ്ഥലം യെരൂശലേമില് ആകുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. for, five husbands, thou hast had, and, now, he whom thou hast, is not thy, husband: This true thing, hast thou spoken.

19. യേശു അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞതുസ്ത്രീയേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു വിശ്വസിക്ക; നിങ്ങള് പിതാവിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നതു ഈ മലയിലും അല്ല യെരൂശലേമിലും അല്ല എന്നുള്ള നാഴിക വരുന്നു.

19. The woman saith unto him Sir! I perceive that, a prophet, art, thou:

20. നിങ്ങള് അറിയാത്തതിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു. ഞങ്ങളോ അറിയുന്നതിനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു; രക്ഷ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഇടയില് നിന്നല്ലോ വരുന്നതു.

20. Our fathers, in this mountain, worshipped; and, ye, say, that, in Jerusalem, is the place, where, to worship, it behoveth.

21. സത്യനമസ്കാരികള് പിതാവിനെ ആത്മാവിലും സത്യത്തിലും നമസ്കരിക്കുന്ന നാഴിക വരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള് വന്നുമിരിക്കുന്നു. തന്നേ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നവര് ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവര് ആയിരിക്കേണം എന്നു പിതാവു ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു.

21. Jesus saith unto her Believe me, woman! There cometh an hour, when, neither in this mountain, nor yet in Jerusalem, shall ye worship the Father.

22. ദൈവം ആത്മാവു ആകുന്നു; അവനെ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നവര് ആത്മാവിലും സത്യത്തിലും നമസ്കരിക്കേണം.

22. Ye, worship, that which ye know not; We, worship, that which we know; because, salvation, is, of the Jews.

23. സ്ത്രീ അവനോടുമശീഹ — എന്നുവെച്ചാല് ക്രിസ്തു — വരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; അവന് വരുമ്പോള് സകലവും അറിയിച്ചുതരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. But there cometh an hour, and, now, is, when, the real worshippers, shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for, even the Father, is seeking, such as these, as his worshippers.

24. യേശു അവളോടുനിന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഞാന് തന്നേ മശീഹ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. God is, spirit; and, they that worship him, in spirit and truth, must needs worship.

25. ഇതിന്നിടയില് അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് വന്നു അവന് സ്ത്രീയോടു സംസാരിക്കയാല് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു എങ്കിലുംനീ എന്തു ചോദിക്കുന്നു? അവളോടു എന്തു സംസാരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ആരും ചോദിച്ചില്ല.

25. The woman saith unto him I know that, Messiah, cometh, who is called Christ, Whensoever, he, shall come, he will tell us, everything.

26. അനന്തരം സ്ത്രീ പാത്രം വെച്ചിട്ടു പട്ടണത്തില് ചെന്നു ജനങ്ങളോടു

26. Jesus saith unto her I, that speak unto thee, am he.

27. ഞാന് ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ വന്നുകാണ്മിന് ; അവന് പക്ഷേ ക്രിസ്തു ആയിരിക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. And, hereupon, came his disciples, and they began to marvel, that, with a woman, he was talking. No one, however, said What seekest thou? or Why talkest thou with her?

28. അവര് പട്ടണത്തില് നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു.

28. The woman, therefore, left her water-vessel, and went away into the city, and saith unto the men

29. അതിന്നിടയില് ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവനോടുറബ്ബീ, ഭക്ഷിച്ചാലും എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

29. Come! see a man, that told me all things that ever I did: Can, this, be, the Christ?

30. അതിന്നു അവന് നിങ്ങള് അറിയാത്ത ആഹാരം ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന് എനിക്കു ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

30. They came forth out of the city, and were coming unto him.

31. ആകയാല് വല്ലവനും അവന്നു ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന് കൊണ്ടുവന്നുവോ എന്നു ശിഷ്യന്മാര് തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞു.

31. In the meantime, the disciples were requesting him, saying Rabbi! eat.

32. യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ചെയ്തു അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി തികെക്കുന്നതു തന്നെ എന്റെ ആഹാരം.

32. But, he, said unto them I, have, food, to eat, of which, ye, know not.

33. ഇനി നാലു മാസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു കൊയ്ത്തു വരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നില്ലയോ? നിങ്ങള് തല പൊക്കി നോക്കിയാല് നിലങ്ങള് ഇപ്പോള് തന്നേ കൊയ്ത്തിന്നു വെളുത്തിരിക്കുന്നതു കാണും എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

33. The disciples, therefore, began to say, one to another Hath anyone brought him, to eat?

34. വിതെക്കുന്നവനും കൊയ്യുന്നവനം ഒരുമിച്ചു സന്തോഷിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം കൊയ്യുന്നവന് കൂലി വാങ്ങി നിത്യജീവങ്കലേക്കു വിളവു കൂട്ടിവെക്കുന്നു.

34. Jesus saith unto them My food, is, that I should do the will of him that sent me, and complete, his work.

35. വിതെക്കുന്നതു ഒരുത്തന് , കൊയ്യുന്നതു മറ്റൊരുത്തന് എന്നുള്ള പഴഞ്ചൊല് ഇതില് ഒത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

35. Are, ye, not saying Yet, a fourmonth, it is, and, the harvest, cometh? Lo! I say unto you Lift up your eyes, and gaze at the fields, that, white, are they unto, harvest. Already,

36. നിങ്ങള് അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തതു കൊയ്വാന് ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മറ്റുള്ളവര് അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു; അവരുടെ അദ്ധ്വാനഫലത്തിലേക്കു നിങ്ങള് പ്രവേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

36. he that reapeth, receiveth, a reward, and gathereth fruit unto life age-abiding; that, he that soweth, together may rejoice, with him that reapeth.

37. ഞാന് ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും അവന് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു സ്ത്രീ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു നിമിത്തം ആ പട്ടണത്തിലെ പല ശമര്യരും അവനില് വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

37. For, herein, doth the saying, hold good, One, is the sower, and, another, is the reaper.

38. അങ്ങനെ ശമര്യര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു തങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ പാര്ക്കേണം എന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അവന് രണ്ടുനാള് അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.

38. I, sent you forth, to be reaping that whereon, ye, have not toiled: Others, have toiled, and, ye, into their toil, have entered.

39. ഏറ്റവും അധികംപേര് അവന്റെ വചനം കേട്ടു വിശ്വസിച്ചു

39. And, out of that city, many, believed on him of the Samaritans, by reason of the word of the woman in bearing witness He told me all things that ever I did.

40. ഇനി നിന്റെ വാക്കുകൊണ്ടല്ല ഞങ്ങള് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നതു; ഞങ്ങള് തന്നേ കേള്ക്കയും അവന് സാക്ഷാല് ലോകരക്ഷിതാവു എന്നു അറികയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സ്ത്രീയോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

40. When, therefore, the Samaritans came unto him, they went on to request him to abide with them; and he abode there two days.

41. രണ്ടു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന് അവിടം വിട്ടു ഗലീലെക്കു പോയി.

41. And, many more, believed by reason of his discourse;

42. പ്രവാചകന്നു തന്റെ പിതൃദേശത്തു ബഹുമാനം ഇല്ല എന്നു യേശു തന്നേ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

42. and, unto the woman, began to say No longer, by reason of thy talk, do we believe; for, we ourselves, have heard, and know that, This One, is, in truth, the Saviour of the world.

43. അവന് ഗലീലയില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് ഗലീലക്കാര് തങ്ങളും പെരുന്നാളിന്നു പോയി അവന് യെരൂശലേമില്വെച്ചു പെരുനാളില് ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും കണ്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ അംഗീകരിച്ചു.

43. But, after the two days, he went forth from thence, into Galilee.

44. അവന് പിന്നെയും താന് വെള്ളം വീഞ്ഞാക്കിയ ഗലീലയിലെ കാനാവില് വന്നു. അന്നു മകന് രോഗിയായിരുന്നോരു രാജഭൃത്യന് കഫര്ന്നഹൂമില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

44. For, Jesus himself, bare witness, that, a prophet, in his own fatherland, hath not, honour.

45. യേശു യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഗലീലയില് വന്നു എന്നു അവന് കേട്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു, തന്റെ മകന് മരിപ്പാറായിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവന് വന്നു അവനെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

45. So, when he came into Galilee, the Galilaeans welcomed him, having seen, all things, whatsoever he had done in Jerusalem during the feast; for, they also, went unto the feast.

46. യേശു അവനോടുനിങ്ങള് അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും കണ്ടിട്ടല്ലാതെ വിശ്വസിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

46. So he came again into Cana of Galilee, where he had made the water, wine. And there was a certain courtier, whose son was sick, in Capernaum.

47. രാജഭൃത്യന് അവനോടുകര്ത്താവേ, പൈതല് മരിക്കുംമുമ്പേ വരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

47. The same, hearing that Jesus had come out of Judaea into Galilee, came away unto him, and began requesting him, that he would come down and heal his son; for he was on the point of dying.

48. യേശു അവനോടുപൊയ്ക്കൊള്ക; നിന്റെ മകന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യേശു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു വിശ്വസിച്ചു ആ മനുഷ്യന് പോയി.

48. Jesus therefore said unto him Except, signs and wonders, ye see, in nowise will ye believe.

49. അവന് പോകയില് അവന്റെ ദാസന്മാര് അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു മകന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

49. The courtier saith unto him Sir! come down, ere my child die!

50. അവന്നു ഭേദം വന്ന നാഴിക അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവര് അവനോടുഇന്നലെ ഏഴുമണിക്കു പനി വിട്ടുമാറി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

50. Jesus saith unto him Be going thy way: thy son, liveth! And the man believed in the word which Jesus spake to him, and at once went his way.

51. ആകയാല് നിന്റെ മകന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞ നാഴികയില് തന്നേ എന്നു അപ്പന് ഗ്രഹിച്ചു താനും കുടുംബം ഒക്കെയും വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

51. And, when he was even now going down, his servants, met him, saying, that, his boy, was living.

52. യേശു യെഹൂദ്യയില് നിന്നു ഗലീലയില് വന്നപ്പോള് ഇതു രണ്ടാമത്തെ അടയാളമായിട്ടു ചെയ്തു.

52. So he enquired the hour, from them, when he began, to amend. They said, therefore, unto him Yesterday, at the seventh hour, the fever left him.
