1. ഞാന് സ്വതന്ത്രന് അല്ലയോ? ഞാന് അപ്പൊസ്തലന് അല്ലയോ? നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിനെ ഞാന് കണ്ടിട്ടില്ലയോ? കര്ത്താവില് ഞാന് ചെയ്ത പ്രവൃത്തിയുടെ ഫലം നിങ്ങള് അല്ലയോ?

1. Am I not free? am I not an Apostle? have I not seen Jesus our Lord? are you not my work in the Lord?

2. മറ്റുള്ളവര്ക്കും ഞാന് അപ്പൊസ്തലന് അല്ലെന്നുവരികില് എങ്ങനെയെങ്കിലും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ആകുന്നു; കര്ത്താവില് എന്റെ അപ്പൊസ്തലത്വത്തിന്റെ മുദ്ര നിങ്ങളല്ലോ.

2. If to others I am not an Apostle, at least I am one to you: for the fact that you are Christians is the sign that I am an Apostle.

3. എന്നെ വിധിക്കുന്നവരോടു ഞാന് പറയുന്ന പ്രതിവാദം ഇതാകുന്നു.

3. My answer to those who are judging me is this.

4. തിന്നുവാനും കുടിപ്പാനും ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു അധികാരമില്ലയോ?

4. Have we no right to take food and drink?

5. ശേഷം അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരും കര്ത്താവിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരും കേഫാവും ചെയ്യുന്നതുപോലെ ഭാര്യ്യയായോരു സഹോദരിയുമായി സഞ്ചരിപ്പാന് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു അധികാരമില്ലയൊ?

5. Have we no right to take about with us a Christian wife, like the rest of the Apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?

6. അല്ല, വേല ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാന് എനിക്കും ബര്ന്നബാസിന്നും മാത്രം അധികാരമില്ല എന്നുണ്ടോ?

6. Or I only and Barnabas, have we no right to take a rest from work?

7. സ്വന്ത ചെലവിന്മേല് യുദ്ധസേവ ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ആര്? മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഉണ്ടാക്കി അതിന്റെ ഫലം തിന്നാതിരിക്കുന്നവന് ആര്? ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തെ മേയിച്ചു കൂട്ടത്തിന്റെ പാല്കൊണ്ടു ഉപജീവിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നവന് ആര്?

7. Who ever goes to war without looking to someone to be responsible for his payment? who puts in vines and does not take the fruit of them? or who takes care of sheep without drinking of their milk?

8. ഞാന് ഇതു മനുഷ്യരുടെ മര്യ്യാദപ്രകാരമോ പറയുന്നതു? ന്യായപ്രമാണവും ഇങ്ങനെ പറയുന്നില്ലയോ?

8. Am I talking as a man? does not the law say the same?

9. “മെതിക്കുന്ന കാളെക്കു മുഖക്കൊട്ട കെട്ടരുതു” എന്നു മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; ദൈവം കാളെക്കു വേണ്ടിയോ ചിന്തിക്കുന്നതു?

9. For it says in the law of Moses, It is not right to keep the ox from taking the grain when he is crushing it. Is it for the oxen that God is giving orders?

10. അല്ല, കേവലം നമുക്കു വേണ്ടി പറയുന്നതോ? അതേ, ഉഴുന്നവന് ആശയോടെ ഉഴുകയും മെതിക്കുന്നവന് പതം കിട്ടും എന്നുള്ള ആശയോടെ മെതിക്കയും വേണ്ടതാകയാല് നമുക്കു വേണ്ടി എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതത്രെ.

10. Or has he us in mind? Yes, it was said for us; because it is right for the ploughman to do his ploughing in hope, and for him who is crushing the grain to do his work hoping for a part in the fruits of it.

11. ഞങ്ങള് ആത്മീകമായതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വിതെച്ചിട്ടു നിങ്ങളുടെ ഐഹികമായതു കൊയ്താല് വലിയ കാര്യ്യമോ?

11. If we have been planting the things of the Spirit for you, does it seem a great thing for you to give us a part in your things of this world?

12. മറ്റുള്ളവര്ക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ മേല് ഈ അധികാരം ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു എത്ര അധികം? എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങള് ഈ അധികാരം പ്രയോഗിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ സുവിശേഷത്തിന്നു യാതൊരു വിഘ്നവും വരുത്താതിരിപ്പാന് സകലവും പൊറുക്കുന്നു.

12. If others have a part in this right over you, have we not even more? But we did not make use of our right, so that we might put nothing in the way of the good news of Christ.

13. ദൈവാലയകര്മ്മങ്ങള് നടത്തുന്നവര് ദൈവാലയംകൊണ്ടു ഉപജീവിക്കുന്നു എന്നും യാഗപീഠത്തിങ്കല് ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്യുന്നവര് യാഗപീഠത്തിലെ വഴിപാടുകളില് ഔഹരിക്കാര് ആകുന്നു എന്നും നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ?

13. Do you not see that the servants of the holy things get their living from the Temple, and the servants of the altar have their part in the food which is offered on the altar?

14. അതുപോലെ കര്ത്താവും സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുന്നവര് സുവിശേഷത്താല് ഉപജീവിക്കേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. Even so did the Lord give orders that the preachers of the good news might get their living from the good news.

15. എങ്കിലും ഇതു ഒന്നും ഞാന് പ്രയോഗിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; ഇങ്ങനെ എനിക്കു കിട്ടേണം എന്നുവെച്ചു ഞാന് ഇതു എഴുതുന്നതും അല്ല; ആരെങ്കിലും എന്റെ പ്രശംസ വൃഥാവാക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാള് മരിക്ക തന്നേ എനിക്കു നല്ലതു.

15. But I have not made use of any of these things: and I am not writing this in the hope that it may be so for me: for it would be better for me to undergo death, than for any man to make this pride of mine of no effect.

16. ഞാന് സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് എനിക്കു പ്രശംസിപ്പാന് ഒന്നുമില്ല. നിര്ബ്ബന്ധം എന്റെ മേല് കിടക്കുന്നു. ഞാന് സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുന്നില്ല എങ്കില് എനിക്കു അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം!

16. For if I am a preacher of the good news, I have no cause for pride in this; because I am forced to do so, for a curse is on me if I do not.

17. ഞാന് അതു മനഃപൂര്വ്വം നടത്തുന്നു എങ്കില് എനിക്കു പ്രതിഫലം ഉണ്ടു; മനഃപൂര്വ്വമല്ലെങ്കിലും കാര്യ്യം എങ്കല് ഭരമേല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. But if I do it gladly, I have a reward; and if not, I am under orders to do it.

18. എന്നാല് എന്റെ പ്രതിഫലം എന്തു? സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുമ്പോള് സുവിശേഷഘോഷണത്തിലുള്ള അധികാരം മുഴുവനും ഉപയോഗിക്കാതെ ഞാന് സുവിശേഷഘോഷണം ചെലവുകൂടാതെ നടത്തുന്നതു തന്നേ.

18. What then is my reward? This, that when I am giving the good news, I may give it without payment, not making use of my rights as a preacher of the good news.

19. ഇങ്ങനെ ഞാന് കേവലം സ്വതന്ത്രന് എങ്കിലും അധികംപേരെ നേടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് എന്നെത്തന്നേ എല്ലാവര്ക്കും ദാസനാക്കി.

19. For though I was free from all men, I made myself a servant to all, so that more might have salvation.

20. യെഹൂദന്മാരെ നേടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും യെഹൂദനെപ്പോലെ ആയി; ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴുള്ളവരെ നേടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴുള്ളവന് അല്ല എങ്കിലും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴുള്ളവര്ക്കും ന്യാപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴുള്ളവനെപ്പോലെ ആയി.

20. And to the Jews I was as a Jew, so that I might give the good news to them; to those under the law I was the same, not as being myself under the law, but so that I might give the good news to those under the law.

21. ദൈവത്തിന്നു ന്യായപ്രമാണമില്ലാത്തവന് ആകാതെ ക്രിസ്തുവിന്നു ന്യായപ്രമാണമുള്ളവനായിരിക്കെ, ന്യയപ്രമാണമില്ലാത്തവരെ നേടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് ന്യായപ്രമാണമില്ലാത്തവര്ക്കും ന്യായപ്രമാണമില്ലാത്തവനെപ്പോലെ ആയി.

21. To those without the law I was as one without the law, not as being without law to God, but as under law to Christ, so that I might give the good news to those without the law.

22. ബലഹീനന്മാരെ നേടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് ബലഹീനര്ക്കും ബലഹീനനായി; ഏതുവിധത്തിലും ചിലരെ രക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് എല്ലാവര്ക്കും എല്ലാമായിത്തീര്ന്നു.

22. To the feeble, I was as one who is feeble, so that they might have salvation: I have been all things to all men, so that some at least might have salvation.

23. സുവിശേഷത്തില് ഒരു പങ്കാളിയാകേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് സകലവും സുവിശേഷം നിമിത്തം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

23. And I do all things for the cause of the good news, so that I may have a part in it.

24. ഔട്ടക്കളത്തില് ഔടുന്നവര് എല്ലാവരും ഔടുന്നു എങ്കിലും ഒരുവനേ വിരുതു പ്രാപിക്കുന്നുള്ളു എന്നു അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ? നിങ്ങളും പ്രാപിപ്പാന്തക്കവണ്ണം ഔടുവിന് .

24. Do you not see that in a running competition all take part, but only one gets the reward? So let your minds be fixed on the reward.

25. അങ്കം പൊരുന്നവന് ഒക്കെയും സകലത്തിലും വര്ജ്ജനം ആചരിക്കുന്നു. അതോ, അവര് വാടുന്ന കിരീടവും നാമോ വാടാത്തതും പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

25. And every man who takes part in the sports has self-control in all things. Now they do it to get a crown which is of this world, but we for an eternal crown.

26. ആകയാല് ഞാന് നിശ്ചയമില്ലാത്തവണ്ണമല്ല ഔടുന്നതു; ആകാശത്തെ കുത്തുന്നതു പോലെയല്ല ഞാന് മുഷ്ടിയുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നതു.

26. So then I am running, not uncertainly; so I am fighting, not as one who gives blows in the air:

27. മറ്റുള്ളവരോടു പ്രസംഗിച്ചശേഷം ഞാന് തന്നേ കൊള്ളരുതാത്തവനായി പോകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ ശരീരത്തെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു അടിമയാക്കുകയത്രേ ചെയ്യുന്നതു.

27. But I give blows to my body, and keep it under control, for fear that, after having given the good news to others, I myself might not have God's approval.
