1. വിശ്വാസം എന്നതോ, ആശിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ഉറപ്പും കാണാത്ത കാര്യങ്ങളുടെ നിശ്ചയവും ആകുന്നു.

1. Now faith is assurance of [things] hoped for, a conviction of things not seen.

2. അതിനാലല്ലോ പൂര്വ്വന്മാര്ക്കും സാക്ഷ്യം ലഭിച്ചതു.

2. For in this the elders had witness borne to them.

3. ഈ കാണുന്ന ലോകത്തിന്നു ദൃശ്യമായതല്ല കാരണം എന്നു വരുമാറു ലോകം ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനത്താല് നിര്മ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ടു എന്നു നാം വിശ്വാസത്താല് അറിയുന്നു.

3. By faith we understand that the ages have been provided by the word of God, so that what is seen has not been made out of things which appear.

11. By faith even Sarah herself, who was barren, received power to conceive seed when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised:

13. These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

14. For those who say such things make it manifest that they are seeking after a country of their own.

15. And if indeed they had been mindful of that [country] from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return.

16. But now they desire a better [country], that is, a heavenly: therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he has prepared for them a city.

39. And these all, having had witness borne to them through their faith, did not receive the promise,

40. അവര് നമ്മെ കൂടാതെ രക്ഷാപൂര്ത്തി പ്രാപിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവം നമുക്കു വേണ്ടി ഏറ്റവും നല്ലതൊന്നു മുന് കരുതിയിരുന്നു.
