1. രാജാവിന്റെ മനസ്സു അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ നേരെ ചാഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ യോവാബ് അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് തെക്കോവയിലേക്കു ആളയച്ചു

1. And Joab the son of Zeruiah knew that the king's heart was on Absalom.

2. അവിടെനിന്നു വിവേകവതിയായ ഒരു സ്ത്രീയെ വരുത്തി അവളോടുമരിച്ചുപോയവനെക്കുറിച്ചു ഏറിയനാളായിട്ടു ദുഃഖിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ഭാര്യയുടെ ഭാവത്തില് നീ ദുഃഖംനടിച്ചും ദുഃഖവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചും തൈലം പൂശാതെയും

2. And Joab sent to Tekoah and took a wise woman from there, and said to her, Pretend yourself to be a mourner now, and please put on garments of mourning. And do not anoint yourself with oil, and you shall be a woman mourning for one who died these many days.

3. രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അവനോടു ഇന്നിന്നപ്രകാരം സംസാരിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; യോവാബ് വാചകം അവള്ക്കു ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

3. And you shall go to the king and speak with him according to this word. And Joab put the words into her mouth.

4. ഇങ്ങനെ തെക്കോവക്കാരത്തിയായ സ്ത്രീ രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന് ചെന്നു സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചുരാജാവേ, രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And the woman of Tekoah spoke to the king, and fell on her face to the earth, and bowed and said, Save, O king!

5. രാജാവു അവളോടുനിനക്കു എന്തുവേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞതുഅടിയന് ഒരു വിധവ ആകുന്നു; ഭര്ത്താവു മരിച്ചുപോയി.

5. And the king said to her, What shall be to you? And she said, Truly I am a widow woman, and my husband died.

6. എന്നാല് അടിയന്നു രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവര് വയലില്വെച്ചു തമ്മില് കലഹിച്ചു; അവരെ പിടിച്ചുമാറ്റുവാന് ആരും ഇല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഒരുത്തന് മറ്റവനെ അടിച്ചുകൊന്നു.

6. And your servant had two sons. And the two of them fought in the field, and there was no deliverer between them. And the one struck the other, and killed him.

7. കുലം മുഴുവനും അടിയന്റെ നേരെ എഴുന്നേറ്റുസഹോദരഘാതകനെ ഏല്പിച്ചുതരിക; അവന് കൊന്ന സഹോദരന്റെ ജീവന്നു പകരം അവനെ കൊന്നു അങ്ങനെ അവകാശിയെയും നശിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറയുന്നു; ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് എന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവിന്നു പേരും സന്തതിയും ഭൂമിയില് വെച്ചേക്കാതെ എനിക്കു ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന കനലും കെടുത്തുകളവാന് ഭാവിക്കുന്നു.

7. And, behold, the whole family has risen against your servant, and said, Give up him who struck his brother, and we shall kill him for the life of his brother whom he has slain. And we shall also destroy the heir. And they shall quench my coal which is left, so as not to set to my husband a name and remnant on the face of the earth.

8. രാജാവു സ്ത്രീയോടുനിന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോക; ഞാന് നിന്റെ കാര്യത്തില് കല്പന കൊടുക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And the king said to the woman, Go to your house, and I will give command concerning you.

9. ആ തെക്കോവക്കാരത്തി രാജാവിനാടുഎന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, കുറ്റം എന്റെ മേലും എന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിന്മേലും ഇരിക്കട്ടെ; രാജാവിന്നും സിംഹാസനത്തിന്നും കുറ്റമില്ലാതെ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. And the woman of Tekoah said to the king, My lord, O king, let the iniquity be on me, and on my father's house; and the king and his throne shall be guiltless.

10. അതിന്നു രാജാവുനിന്നോടു വല്ലതും പറയുന്നവനെ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരിക; അവന് പിന്നെ നിന്നെ തൊടുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. And the king said, Whoever speaks to you, you also shall bring him to me, then he shall not touch you any more.

11. രക്തപ്രതികാരകന് അധികം സംഹാരം ചെയ്കയും എന്റെ മകനെ അവര് നശിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു രാജാവു ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ ഔര്ക്കേണമേ എന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവന് യഹോവയാണ, നിന്റെ മകന്റെ ഒരു രോമം പോലും നിലത്തു വീഴുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. And she said, Please let the king remember Jehovah your God, that the avenger of blood not destroy any more, and that they may not destroy my son. And he said, As Jehovah lives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the earth.

12. അപ്പോള് ആ സ്ത്രീയജമാനനായ രാജാവിനോടു അടിയന് ഒരു വാക്കു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചുകൊള്ളട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. പറക എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

12. And the woman said, Please let your servant speak a word to my lord the king. And he said, Speak.

13. ആ സ്ത്രീ പറഞ്ഞതുഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള കാര്യം നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി വിചാരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? രാജാവു തന്റെ ഭ്രഷ്ടനെ മടക്കി വരുത്താഞ്ഞതിനാല് ഇപ്പോള് കല്പിച്ച വചനംകൊണ്ടു രാജാവു തന്നേ കുറ്റക്കാരനെന്നു വന്നുവല്ലോ.

13. And the woman said, And why have you thought in this way about the people of God? Yea, the king is speaking this thing as a guilty one, in that the king has not brought back his outcast.

14. നാം മരിക്കേണ്ടുന്നവരല്ലോനിലത്തു ഒഴിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതും വീണ്ടും ചേര്ത്തുകൂടാത്തതുമായ വെള്ളംപോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവം ജീവനെ എടുത്തുകളയാതെ ഭ്രഷ്ടനായവന് തനിക്കു ഇനിയും ഭ്രഷ്ടനായിരിക്കാതവണ്ണം മാര്ഗ്ഗം ചിന്തിക്കുന്നു.

14. For dying we die and are as water which is spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up. And God does not take a life, but has devised plans so that the outcast is not cast out from Him.

15. ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനെ ഈ കാര്യം ഉണര്ത്തിപ്പാന് വന്നതു ജനം എന്നെ ഭയപ്പെടുത്തുകകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഇപ്പോള് രാജാവിനെ ഉണര്ത്തിക്കട്ടെ. പക്ഷേ രാജാവു അടിയന്റെ അപേക്ഷ പ്രകാരം ചെയ്യുമായിരിക്കും;

15. And now that I have come to speak this word to my lord the king, because the people made me afraid; and your servant said, Please let me speak to the king; it may be the king shall do the word of his servant.

16. രാജാവു കേട്ടു എന്നെയും എന്റെ മകനെയും ഒന്നിച്ചു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അവകാശത്തില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് ഭാവിക്കുന്നവന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കുമല്ലോ എന്നു അടിയന് വിചാരിച്ചു.

16. For the king has listened, to deliver his servant out of the hand of the man seeking to destroy me and my son together, out of the inheritance of God.

17. യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പന ആശ്വാസമായിരിക്കട്ടെ; ഗുണവും ദോഷവും തിരിച്ചറിവാന് യജമാനനായ രാജാവു ഒരു ദൈവദൂതനെപ്പോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നും അടിയന് വിചാരിച്ചു. അതുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.

17. And your servant said, Please let the word of my lord the king be comforting. For as a messenger of God, so is my lord the king, to understand the good and the evil. And Jehovah your God shall be with you.

18. രാജാവു സ്ത്രീയോടുഞാന് നിന്നോടു ഒരു കാര്യം ചോദിക്കുന്നു; അതു എന്നോടു മറെച്ചുവെക്കരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യജമാനനായ രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചാലും എന്നു സ്ത്രീ പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And the king answered and said to the woman, Please do not hide from me the thing that I am asking you. And the woman said, Then let my lord the king speak.

19. അപ്പോള് രാജാവുഇതിലൊക്കെയും യോവാബിന്റെ കൈ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു സ്ത്രീ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതുയജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, നിന്റെ ജീവനാണ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവു അരുളിച്ചെയ്താല് വലത്തോട്ടോ ഇടത്തോട്ടോ ആര്ക്കും മാറിക്കൂടാ; നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായ യോവാബ് തന്നേ ആകുന്നു ഇതു അടിയനോടു കല്പിച്ചതു; അവന് തന്നേ ഈ വാചകമൊക്കെയും അടിയന്നു ഉപദേശിച്ചുതന്നതു.

19. And the king said, Is the hand of Joab with you in all this? And the woman answered and said, As your soul lives, my lord, O king, none shall turn to the right or to the left from all that my lord the king has spoken. For your servant Joab commanded me, and he put all these words in your servant's mouth.

20. കാര്യത്തിന്റെ രൂപം മാറ്റേണ്ടതിന്നു നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായ യോവാബ് ഇതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാല് ഭൂമിയിലുള്ളതൊക്കെയും അറിവാന് ഒരു ദൈവദൂതന്റെ ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നൊത്തവണ്ണം എന്റെ യജമാനന് ജ്ഞാനമുള്ളവനാകുന്നു.

20. Your servant Joab has done this thing to turn about the face of the matter, and my lord is wise according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all that is in the land.

21. രാജാവു യോവാബിനോടുഞാന് ഈ കാര്യം സമ്മതിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ ചെന്നു അബ്ശാലോംകുമാരനെ കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

21. And the king said to Joab, Behold, now, I have done this thing. Then go, bring back the young man Absalom.

22. യോവാബ് സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു രാജാവിനെ അഭിനന്ദിച്ചുയജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, അടിയന്റെ വാക്കു പോലെ രാജാവു ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു അടിയന്നു തിരുമുമ്പില് കൃപ ലഭിച്ചു എന്നു അടിയന് ഇന്നു അറിയുന്നു എന്നു യോവാബ് പറഞ്ഞു.

22. And Joab fell on his face to the earth, and bowed, and blessed the king. And Joab said, Today your servant has known that I have found grace in your eyes, my lord, O king, in that the king has done the word of his servant.

23. അങ്ങനെ യോവാബ് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഗെശൂരില് ചെന്നു അബ്ശാലോമിനെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു വന്നു.

23. And Joab rose up and went to Geshur, and brought Absalom to Jerusalem.

24. എന്നാല് രാജാവുഅവന് തന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോകട്ടെ; എന്റെ മുഖം അവന് കാണരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ അബ്ശാലോം തന്റെ വീട്ടില് പോയി; രാജാവിന്റെ മുഖം കണ്ടതുമില്ല.

24. And the king said, Let him turn to his house, and he shall not see my face. And Absalom turned to his house, and he did not see the king's face.

25. എന്നാല് എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിലും സൌന്ദര്യംകൊണ്ടു അബ്ശാലോമിനോളം ശ്ളാഘ്യനായ ഒരുത്തനും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല; അടിതൊട്ടു മുടിവരെ അവന്നു ഒരു ഊനവും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

25. And no man was handsome like Absalom in all Israel, to be so greatly praised. From the sole of his foot to his crown, there was not a blemish in him.

26. അവന് തന്റെ തലമുടി ആണ്ടുതോറും കത്രിപ്പിച്ചുകളയും; അതു തനിക്കു ഭാരമായിരിക്കയാല് അത്രേ കത്രിപ്പിച്ചതു; അവന്റെ തലമുടി കത്രിച്ചാല് രാജതൂക്കത്തിന്നു ഇരുനൂറു ശേക്കെല് കാണും.

26. And when he sheared his head (for it was at the end of days of days that he sheared it, because the hair was heavy on him, and he sheared it ), he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels by the king's weight.

27. അബ്ശാലോമിന്നു മൂന്നു പുത്രന്മാരും താമാര് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു മകളും ജനിച്ചിരുന്നു; അവള് സൌന്ദര്യമുള്ള സ്ത്രീ ആയിരുന്നു.

27. And three sons were born to Absalom, and one daughter. And her name was Tamar; she was a woman of a beautiful form.

28. രാജാവിന്റെ മുഖം കാണാതെ അബ്ശാലോം രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം മുഴുവനും യെരൂശലേമില് പാര്ത്തു.

28. And Absalom lived in Jerusalem two years, and had not seen the king's face.

29. ആകയാല് അബ്ശാലോം യോവാബിനെ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ വിളിപ്പാന് ആളയച്ചു. എന്നാല് അവന് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നില്ല. രണ്ടാമതു പറഞ്ഞയച്ചിട്ടും അവന് ചെന്നില്ല.

29. And Absalom sent to Joab, to send him to the king. But he was not willing to come to him. And he sent again a second time, and he was not willing to come.

30. അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുഎന്റെ നിലത്തിന്നരികെ യോവാബിന്നു ഒരു നിലം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; അതില് യവം വിളഞ്ഞുകിടക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് ചെന്നു അതു തീവെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര് ആ കൃഷി ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

30. And he said to his servants, Behold, Joab's allotment is beside mine, and he has barley there. Go and set it on fire. And Absalom's servants set the allotment on fire.

31. അപ്പോള് യോവാബ് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു അവനോടുനിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര് എന്റെ കൃഷി ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

31. And Joab rose up and came to Absalom, to the house, and said to him, Why have your servants set my allotment on fire?

32. അബ്ശാലോം യോവാബിനോടുഞാന് ഗെശൂരില്നിന്നു എന്തിന്നു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു? ഞാന് അവിടെത്തന്നേ പാര്ത്തിരുന്നെങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു എന്നു രാജാവിനോടു പറവാന് നിന്നെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ ഇവിടെ വരേണം എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞയച്ചുവല്ലോ; എനിക്കു ഇപ്പോള് രാജാവിന്റെ മുഖം കാണേണം; എന്നില് കുറ്റം ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് അവന് എന്നെ കൊല്ലട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

32. And Absalom said to Joab, Behold, I sent to you, saying, Come here, and I will send you to the king to say, Why have I come from Geshur? It was good for me to be there still. And now, let me see the king's face, and if there is guilt in me, then you shall cause me to die.

33. യോവാബ് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു വസ്തുത അറിയിച്ചു; അവന് അബ്ശാലോമിനെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു; അവന് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു രാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു; രാജാവു അബ്ശാലോമിനെ ചുംബിച്ചു.

33. And Joab came to the king and told him. And he called to Absalom; and he came to the king, and bowed to him on his face to the earth before the king. And the king gave a kiss to Absalom.
