1. Yo'av the son of Tz'ruyah perceived that the king missed Avshalom;

2. അവിടെനിന്നു വിവേകവതിയായ ഒരു സ്ത്രീയെ വരുത്തി അവളോടുമരിച്ചുപോയവനെക്കുറിച്ചു ഏറിയനാളായിട്ടു ദുഃഖിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ഭാര്യയുടെ ഭാവത്തില് നീ ദുഃഖംനടിച്ചും ദുഃഖവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചും തൈലം പൂശാതെയും

2. so Yo'av sent to T'koa, brought from there a clever woman and said to her, 'Please, pretend you're a mourner. Put on mourning clothes, and don't anoint yourself with oil, but appear to be a woman who has mourned for the dead a long time.

3. രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അവനോടു ഇന്നിന്നപ്രകാരം സംസാരിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; യോവാബ് വാചകം അവള്ക്കു ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

3. Go in to the king and speak to him in this fashion- ' and then Yo'av told her just what to say.

4. ഇങ്ങനെ തെക്കോവക്കാരത്തിയായ സ്ത്രീ രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന് ചെന്നു സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചുരാജാവേ, രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. When the woman of T'koa spoke to the king, she fell down with her face to the ground, prostrating herself, and said, 'King, help!'

5. രാജാവു അവളോടുനിനക്കു എന്തുവേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞതുഅടിയന് ഒരു വിധവ ആകുന്നു; ഭര്ത്താവു മരിച്ചുപോയി.

5. The king said to her, 'What's the trouble?' She answered, 'I'm a widow. After my husband died,

6. my two sons were out in the field; and they got into a fight with each other. There was no one to separate them, and one hit the other and killed him.

7. Now the whole family has come against me, your servant; they're saying, 'Hand over the one who hit his brother, so that we can put him to death for killing his brother.' They want to destroy the heir as well and thus quench my one remaining coal; then my husband will have neither name nor survivor anywhere on earth.'

8. രാജാവു സ്ത്രീയോടുനിന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോക; ഞാന് നിന്റെ കാര്യത്തില് കല്പന കൊടുക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. The king said to the woman, 'Go back home; I myself will decide what to do about you.'

9. ആ തെക്കോവക്കാരത്തി രാജാവിനാടുഎന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, കുറ്റം എന്റെ മേലും എന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിന്മേലും ഇരിക്കട്ടെ; രാജാവിന്നും സിംഹാസനത്തിന്നും കുറ്റമില്ലാതെ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. The woman of T'koa said to the king, 'My lord, king, let the guilt be on me and my father's family; the king and his throne be guiltless.'

10. അതിന്നു രാജാവുനിന്നോടു വല്ലതും പറയുന്നവനെ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരിക; അവന് പിന്നെ നിന്നെ തൊടുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. The king answered, 'If anyone says anything to you, bring him to me; and he won't bother you any more.'

11. രക്തപ്രതികാരകന് അധികം സംഹാരം ചെയ്കയും എന്റെ മകനെ അവര് നശിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു രാജാവു ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ ഔര്ക്കേണമേ എന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവന് യഹോവയാണ, നിന്റെ മകന്റെ ഒരു രോമം പോലും നിലത്തു വീഴുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. 'Please,' she said, 'let the king swear by ADONAI your God that the blood avengers won't do any more destroying, so they won't destroy my son.' He said, 'As ADONAI lives, not one of your son's hairs will fall to the ground.'

12. അപ്പോള് ആ സ്ത്രീയജമാനനായ രാജാവിനോടു അടിയന് ഒരു വാക്കു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചുകൊള്ളട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. പറക എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

12. Then the woman said, 'Please allow your servant to say something else to my lord the king.' 'Go on,' he replied.

13. ആ സ്ത്രീ പറഞ്ഞതുഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള കാര്യം നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി വിചാരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? രാജാവു തന്റെ ഭ്രഷ്ടനെ മടക്കി വരുത്താഞ്ഞതിനാല് ഇപ്പോള് കല്പിച്ച വചനംകൊണ്ടു രാജാവു തന്നേ കുറ്റക്കാരനെന്നു വന്നുവല്ലോ.

13. The woman said, 'Why is it, then, that you have produced a situation exactly like this against God's people? By saying what you have said, the king has virtually incriminated himself- in that the king does not bring home again the son he banished.

14. നാം മരിക്കേണ്ടുന്നവരല്ലോനിലത്തു ഒഴിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതും വീണ്ടും ചേര്ത്തുകൂടാത്തതുമായ വെള്ളംപോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവം ജീവനെ എടുത്തുകളയാതെ ഭ്രഷ്ടനായവന് തനിക്കു ഇനിയും ഭ്രഷ്ടനായിരിക്കാതവണ്ണം മാര്ഗ്ഗം ചിന്തിക്കുന്നു.

14. For we will all die someday; we'll be like water spilled on the ground that can't be gathered up again; and God makes no exception for anyone. The king should think of some way to keep the son he banished from being forever an outcast.

15. ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനെ ഈ കാര്യം ഉണര്ത്തിപ്പാന് വന്നതു ജനം എന്നെ ഭയപ്പെടുത്തുകകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഇപ്പോള് രാജാവിനെ ഉണര്ത്തിക്കട്ടെ. പക്ഷേ രാജാവു അടിയന്റെ അപേക്ഷ പ്രകാരം ചെയ്യുമായിരിക്കും;

15. Now the reason I came to speak about this matter to my lord the king is that the people were intimidating me; so your servant said, 'I will speak now to the king; maybe the king will do what his servant is asking.

16. രാജാവു കേട്ടു എന്നെയും എന്റെ മകനെയും ഒന്നിച്ചു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അവകാശത്തില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് ഭാവിക്കുന്നവന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കുമല്ലോ എന്നു അടിയന് വിചാരിച്ചു.

16. For the king will listen and rescue his servant from the hands of those who would destroy me and my son together from our share of God's inheritance.'

17. യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പന ആശ്വാസമായിരിക്കട്ടെ; ഗുണവും ദോഷവും തിരിച്ചറിവാന് യജമാനനായ രാജാവു ഒരു ദൈവദൂതനെപ്പോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നും അടിയന് വിചാരിച്ചു. അതുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.

17. Then your servant said, 'Please let my lord the king say something that will give me relief; for my lord the king is like an angel of God in discerning good from bad- and may ADONAI your God be with you.''

18. രാജാവു സ്ത്രീയോടുഞാന് നിന്നോടു ഒരു കാര്യം ചോദിക്കുന്നു; അതു എന്നോടു മറെച്ചുവെക്കരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യജമാനനായ രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചാലും എന്നു സ്ത്രീ പറഞ്ഞു.

18. The king then answered the woman: 'I'm going to ask you a question, and please don't hide anything from me.' The woman said, 'Let my lord the king now speak.'

19. അപ്പോള് രാജാവുഇതിലൊക്കെയും യോവാബിന്റെ കൈ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു സ്ത്രീ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതുയജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, നിന്റെ ജീവനാണ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവു അരുളിച്ചെയ്താല് വലത്തോട്ടോ ഇടത്തോട്ടോ ആര്ക്കും മാറിക്കൂടാ; നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായ യോവാബ് തന്നേ ആകുന്നു ഇതു അടിയനോടു കല്പിച്ചതു; അവന് തന്നേ ഈ വാചകമൊക്കെയും അടിയന്നു ഉപദേശിച്ചുതന്നതു.

19. The king asked, 'Did Yo'av put you up to this?' The woman answered, 'As you live, my lord the king, when my lord the king speaks, no one can avoid the issue by turning either right or left. Yes, it was your servant Yo'av who had me do this, and he put in my mouth every word you have heard your servant say.

20. കാര്യത്തിന്റെ രൂപം മാറ്റേണ്ടതിന്നു നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായ യോവാബ് ഇതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാല് ഭൂമിയിലുള്ളതൊക്കെയും അറിവാന് ഒരു ദൈവദൂതന്റെ ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നൊത്തവണ്ണം എന്റെ യജമാനന് ജ്ഞാനമുള്ളവനാകുന്നു.

20. Your servant Yo'av did this in order to bring about some change in the situation. But my lord is wise, he has the wisdom of an angel of God when it comes to understanding anything going on in the land.'

21. രാജാവു യോവാബിനോടുഞാന് ഈ കാര്യം സമ്മതിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ ചെന്നു അബ്ശാലോംകുമാരനെ കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

21. The king said to Yo'av, 'All right, I am granting this request. Go, and bring back young Avshalom.'

22. യോവാബ് സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു രാജാവിനെ അഭിനന്ദിച്ചുയജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, അടിയന്റെ വാക്കു പോലെ രാജാവു ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു അടിയന്നു തിരുമുമ്പില് കൃപ ലഭിച്ചു എന്നു അടിയന് ഇന്നു അറിയുന്നു എന്നു യോവാബ് പറഞ്ഞു.

22. Yo'av fell to the ground on his face, prostrating himself, and blessed the king; Yo'av said, 'Today your servant knows that I have won your favor, my lord, king, because the king has done what your servant requested.'

23. അങ്ങനെ യോവാബ് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഗെശൂരില് ചെന്നു അബ്ശാലോമിനെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു വന്നു.

23. Then Yo'av got up, went to G'shur and brought Avshalom to Yerushalayim.

24. എന്നാല് രാജാവുഅവന് തന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോകട്ടെ; എന്റെ മുഖം അവന് കാണരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ അബ്ശാലോം തന്റെ വീട്ടില് പോയി; രാജാവിന്റെ മുഖം കണ്ടതുമില്ല.

24. However, the king said, 'Let him return to his own house, but he is not to appear in my presence.' So Avshalom returned to his own house and did not appear before the king.

25. എന്നാല് എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിലും സൌന്ദര്യംകൊണ്ടു അബ്ശാലോമിനോളം ശ്ളാഘ്യനായ ഒരുത്തനും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല; അടിതൊട്ടു മുടിവരെ അവന്നു ഒരു ഊനവും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

25. Now in all Isra'el there was no one more praised for his beauty than Avshalom- there was no defect on him from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.

26. അവന് തന്റെ തലമുടി ആണ്ടുതോറും കത്രിപ്പിച്ചുകളയും; അതു തനിക്കു ഭാരമായിരിക്കയാല് അത്രേ കത്രിപ്പിച്ചതു; അവന്റെ തലമുടി കത്രിച്ചാല് രാജതൂക്കത്തിന്നു ഇരുനൂറു ശേക്കെല് കാണും.

26. He would cut his hair only once a year, at the end of the year; and the only reason he cut it then was because it weighed him down. He weighed the hair from his head at 200 [shekel]s (using the royal weight) [[about five pounds]].

27. അബ്ശാലോമിന്നു മൂന്നു പുത്രന്മാരും താമാര് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു മകളും ജനിച്ചിരുന്നു; അവള് സൌന്ദര്യമുള്ള സ്ത്രീ ആയിരുന്നു.

27. To Avshalom were born three sons and one daughter, whose name was Tamar; she was a beautiful woman.

28. രാജാവിന്റെ മുഖം കാണാതെ അബ്ശാലോം രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം മുഴുവനും യെരൂശലേമില് പാര്ത്തു.

28. Avshalom lived two years in Yerushalayim without appearing before the king.

29. ആകയാല് അബ്ശാലോം യോവാബിനെ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ വിളിപ്പാന് ആളയച്ചു. എന്നാല് അവന് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നില്ല. രണ്ടാമതു പറഞ്ഞയച്ചിട്ടും അവന് ചെന്നില്ല.

29. Then Avshalom summoned Yo'av, planning to send him to the king; but he refused to come to him. He summoned him a second time, but he still wouldn't come.

30. അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുഎന്റെ നിലത്തിന്നരികെ യോവാബിന്നു ഒരു നിലം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; അതില് യവം വിളഞ്ഞുകിടക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് ചെന്നു അതു തീവെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര് ആ കൃഷി ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

30. So he said to his servants, 'See, Yo'av's field is close to mine, and he has barley there; go, and set it on fire.' Avshalom's servants set the field on fire.

31. അപ്പോള് യോവാബ് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു അവനോടുനിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര് എന്റെ കൃഷി ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

31. Then Yo'av got up, went to Avshalom at his house and asked him, 'Why did your servants set my field on fire?'

32. അബ്ശാലോം യോവാബിനോടുഞാന് ഗെശൂരില്നിന്നു എന്തിന്നു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു? ഞാന് അവിടെത്തന്നേ പാര്ത്തിരുന്നെങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു എന്നു രാജാവിനോടു പറവാന് നിന്നെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ ഇവിടെ വരേണം എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞയച്ചുവല്ലോ; എനിക്കു ഇപ്പോള് രാജാവിന്റെ മുഖം കാണേണം; എന്നില് കുറ്റം ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് അവന് എന്നെ കൊല്ലട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

32. Avshalom answered Yo'av, 'Look, I sent a message to you to come here, so that I could send you to the king to ask, 'Why did I come from G'shur? It would have been better for me if I had stayed there. So now, let me appear before the king; and if I'm guilty of anything, he can kill me.''

33. യോവാബ് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു വസ്തുത അറിയിച്ചു; അവന് അബ്ശാലോമിനെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു; അവന് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു രാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു; രാജാവു അബ്ശാലോമിനെ ചുംബിച്ചു.

33. Yo'av went to the king and told him; and when he had called for Avshalom, he went to the king and prostrated himself with his face to the ground before the king. Then the king kissed Avshalom.
