1. ശലോമോനെ അവന്റെ അപ്പന്നു പകരം രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു എന്നു സോര്രാജാവായ ഹീരാം കേട്ടിട്ടു ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു. ഹീരാം എല്ലായ്പോഴും ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനായിരുന്നു.

1. King Hiram of Tyre had always been friends with Solomon's father David. When Hiram learned that Solomon was king, he sent some of his officials to meet with Solomon.

2. Solomon sent a message back to Hiram:

3. എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ യഹോവ അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കീഴാക്കുംവരെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള യുദ്ധം ഹേതുവായി തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിവാന് അവന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

3. Remember how my father David wanted to build a temple where the LORD his God could be worshiped? But enemies kept attacking my father's kingdom, and he never had the chance.

4. എന്നാല് ഇപ്പോള് ഒരു പ്രതിയോഗിയോ വിഘ്നമോ ഇല്ല; എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ചുറ്റും എനിക്കു സ്വസ്ഥത നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. Now, thanks to the LORD God, there is peace in my kingdom and no trouble or threat of war anywhere.

5. ആകയാല് ഇതാ, ഞാന് നിനക്കു പകരം നിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരുത്തുന്ന നിന്റെ മകന് എന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിയുമെന്നു യഹോവ എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു പോലെ എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിവാന് ഞാന് വിചാരിക്കുന്നു.

5. The LORD God promised my father that when his son became king, he would build a temple for worshiping the LORD. So I've decided to do that.

6. ആകയാല് ലെബാനോനില്നിന്നു എനിക്കായി ദേവദാരുമരം മുറിപ്പാന് കല്പന കൊടുക്കേണം; എന്റെ വേലക്കാര് നിന്റെ വേലക്കാരോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും; നിന്റെ വേലക്കാര്ക്കും നീ പറയുന്ന കൂലി ഞാന് എത്തിച്ചു തരാം; സീദോന്യരെപ്പോലെ മരം മുറിപ്പാന് പരിചയമുള്ളവര് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ആരും ഇല്ല എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

6. I'd like you to have your workers cut down cedar trees in Lebanon for me. I will pay them whatever you say and will even have my workers help them. We both know that your workers are more experienced than anyone else at cutting lumber.

7. ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടപ്പോള് ഏറ്റവും സന്തോഷിച്ചുഈ മഹാജനത്തെ വാഴുവാന് ദാവീദിന്നു ജ്ഞാനമുള്ളോരു മകനെ കൊടുത്ത യഹോവ ഇന്നു വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. Hiram was so happy when he heard Solomon's request that he said, 'I am grateful that the LORD gave David such a wise son to be king of that great nation!'

8. ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചു പറയിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല്നീ പറഞ്ഞയച്ച വസ്തുത ഞാന് കേട്ടു; ദേവദാരുവിന്റെയും സരളമരത്തിന്റെയും കാര്യത്തില് നീ ഇച്ഛിച്ചതു ഒക്കെയും ഞാന് ചെയ്യാം.

8. Then he sent back his answer: I received your message and will give you all the cedar and pine logs you need.

9. എന്റെ വേലക്കാര് ലെബാനോനില്നിന്നു കടലിലേക്കു അവയെ ഇറക്കിയശേഷം ഞാന് ചങ്ങാടം കെട്ടിച്ചു നീ പറയുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു കടല് വഴിയായി എത്തിച്ചു കെട്ടഴിപ്പിച്ചുതരാം; നീ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങേണം; എന്നാല് എന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു ആഹാരം എത്തിച്ചുതരുന്ന കാര്യത്തില് നീ എന്റെ ഇഷ്ടവും നിവര്ത്തിക്കേണം.

9. My workers will carry them down from Lebanon to the Mediterranean Sea. They will tie the logs together and float them along the coast to wherever you want them. Then they will untie the logs, and your workers can take them from there. To pay for the logs, you can provide the grain I need for my household.

10. അങ്ങനെ ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്നു ദേവദാരുവും സരളമരവും അവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ഒക്കെയും കൊടുത്തു പോന്നു.

10. Hiram gave Solomon all the cedar and pine logs he needed.

11. ശലോമോന് ഹീരാമിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിലേക്കു ആഹാരംവകെക്കു ഇരുപതിനായിരം പറ കോതമ്പും ഇരുപതു പറ ഇടിച്ചെടുത്ത എണ്ണയും കൊടുത്തു; ഇങ്ങനെ ശലോമോന് ഹീരാമിന്നു ആണ്ടുതോറും കൊടുക്കും.

11. In return, Solomon gave Hiram about one hundred twenty-five thousand bushels of wheat and about one thousand one hundred gallons of pure olive oil each year.

12. യഹോവ ശലോമോനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവന്നു ജ്ഞാനം നല്കി; ഹീരാമും ശലോമോനും തമ്മില് സമാധാനമായിരുന്നു; അവര് ഇരുവരും തമ്മില് ഉടമ്പടിയും ചെയ്തു.

12. The LORD kept his promise and made Solomon wise. Hiram and Solomon signed a treaty and never went to war against each other.

13. ശലോമോന് രാജാവു യിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നൊക്കെയും ഊഴിയവേലക്കാരെ വരിയിട്ടെടുത്തു; ഊഴിയ വേലക്കാര് മുപ്പതിനായിരംപേരായിരുന്നു.

13. Solomon ordered thirty thousand people from all over Israel to cut logs for the temple,

14. അവന് അവരെ മാസംതോറും പതിനായിരംപേര്വീതം മാറി മാറി ലെബാനോനിലേക്കു അയച്ചു; അവര് ഒരു മാസം ലെബാനോനിലും രണ്ടുമാസം വീട്ടിലും ആയിരുന്നു; അദോനീരാം ഊഴിയവേലക്കാര്ക്കും മേധാവി ആയിരുന്നു.

14. and he put Adoniram in charge of these workers. Solomon divided them into three groups of ten thousand. Each group worked one month in Lebanon and had two months off at home.

15. വേല ചെയ്യുന്ന ജനത്തെ ഭരിച്ചു വേല നടത്തുന്ന മൂവായിരത്തിമുന്നൂറു പ്രധാനകാര്യക്കാരന്മാരൊഴികെ

15. He also had eighty thousand workers to cut stone in the hill country of Israel, seventy thousand workers to carry the stones,

16. ശലോമോന്നു എഴുപതിനായിരം ചുമട്ടുകാരും മലയില് എണ്പതിനായിരം കല്ലുവെട്ടുകാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

16. and over three thousand assistants to keep track of the work and to supervise the workers.

17. ആലയത്തിന്നു ചെത്തിയ കല്ലുകൊണ്ടു അടിസ്ഥാനം ഇടുവാന് അവര് രാജകല്പനപ്രകാരം വിശേഷപ്പെട്ട വലിയകല്ലു വെട്ടി.

17. He ordered the workers to cut and shape large blocks of good stone for the foundation of the temple.

18. ശലോമോന്റെ ശില്പികളും, ഹീരാമിന്റെ ശില്പികളും ഗെബാല്യരും ആലയപ്പണിക്കായി മരവും കല്ലും ചെത്തി ഒരുക്കി.

18. Solomon's and Hiram's men worked with men from the city of Gebal, and together they got the stones and logs ready for the temple.
