1. ശലോമോനെ അവന്റെ അപ്പന്നു പകരം രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു എന്നു സോര്രാജാവായ ഹീരാം കേട്ടിട്ടു ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു. ഹീരാം എല്ലായ്പോഴും ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനായിരുന്നു.

1. Hiram king of Tyre sent ambassadors to Solomon when he heard that he had been crowned king in David's place. Hiram had loved David his whole life.

2. ശലോമോന് ഹീരാമിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചു പറയിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല്

2. Solomon responded, saying,

3. എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ യഹോവ അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കീഴാക്കുംവരെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള യുദ്ധം ഹേതുവായി തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിവാന് അവന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

3. 'You know that David my father was not able to build a temple in honor of GOD because of the wars he had to fight on all sides, until GOD finally put them down.

4. എന്നാല് ഇപ്പോള് ഒരു പ്രതിയോഗിയോ വിഘ്നമോ ഇല്ല; എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ചുറ്റും എനിക്കു സ്വസ്ഥത നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. But now GOD has provided peace all around--no one against us, nothing at odds with us.

5. ആകയാല് ഇതാ, ഞാന് നിനക്കു പകരം നിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരുത്തുന്ന നിന്റെ മകന് എന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിയുമെന്നു യഹോവ എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു പോലെ എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിവാന് ഞാന് വിചാരിക്കുന്നു.

5. 'Now here is what I want to do: Build a temple in honor of GOD, my God, following the promise that GOD gave to David my father, namely, 'Your son whom I will provide to succeed you as king, he will build a house in my honor.'

6. ആകയാല് ലെബാനോനില്നിന്നു എനിക്കായി ദേവദാരുമരം മുറിപ്പാന് കല്പന കൊടുക്കേണം; എന്റെ വേലക്കാര് നിന്റെ വേലക്കാരോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും; നിന്റെ വേലക്കാര്ക്കും നീ പറയുന്ന കൂലി ഞാന് എത്തിച്ചു തരാം; സീദോന്യരെപ്പോലെ മരം മുറിപ്പാന് പരിചയമുള്ളവര് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ആരും ഇല്ല എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

6. And here is how you can help: Give orders for cedars to be cut from the Lebanon forest; my loggers will work alongside yours and I'll pay your men whatever wage you set. We both know that there is no one like you Sidonians for cutting timber.'

7. ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടപ്പോള് ഏറ്റവും സന്തോഷിച്ചുഈ മഹാജനത്തെ വാഴുവാന് ദാവീദിന്നു ജ്ഞാനമുള്ളോരു മകനെ കൊടുത്ത യഹോവ ഇന്നു വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. When Hiram got Solomon's message, he was delighted, exclaiming, 'Blessed be GOD for giving David such a wise son to rule this flourishing people!'

8. ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചു പറയിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല്നീ പറഞ്ഞയച്ച വസ്തുത ഞാന് കേട്ടു; ദേവദാരുവിന്റെയും സരളമരത്തിന്റെയും കാര്യത്തില് നീ ഇച്ഛിച്ചതു ഒക്കെയും ഞാന് ചെയ്യാം.

8. Then he sent this message to Solomon: 'I received your request for the cedars and cypresses. It's as good as done--your wish is my command.

9. എന്റെ വേലക്കാര് ലെബാനോനില്നിന്നു കടലിലേക്കു അവയെ ഇറക്കിയശേഷം ഞാന് ചങ്ങാടം കെട്ടിച്ചു നീ പറയുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു കടല് വഴിയായി എത്തിച്ചു കെട്ടഴിപ്പിച്ചുതരാം; നീ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങേണം; എന്നാല് എന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു ആഹാരം എത്തിച്ചുതരുന്ന കാര്യത്തില് നീ എന്റെ ഇഷ്ടവും നിവര്ത്തിക്കേണം.

9. My lumberjacks will haul the timbers from the Lebanon forest to the sea, assemble them into log rafts, float them to the place you set, then have them disassembled for you to haul away. All I want from you is that you feed my crew.'

10. അങ്ങനെ ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്നു ദേവദാരുവും സരളമരവും അവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ഒക്കെയും കൊടുത്തു പോന്നു.

10. In this way Hiram supplied all the cedar and cypress timber that Solomon wanted.

11. ശലോമോന് ഹീരാമിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിലേക്കു ആഹാരംവകെക്കു ഇരുപതിനായിരം പറ കോതമ്പും ഇരുപതു പറ ഇടിച്ചെടുത്ത എണ്ണയും കൊടുത്തു; ഇങ്ങനെ ശലോമോന് ഹീരാമിന്നു ആണ്ടുതോറും കൊടുക്കും.

11. In his turn, Solomon gave Hiram 125,000 bushels of wheat and 115,000 gallons of virgin olive oil. He did this every year.

12. യഹോവ ശലോമോനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവന്നു ജ്ഞാനം നല്കി; ഹീരാമും ശലോമോനും തമ്മില് സമാധാനമായിരുന്നു; അവര് ഇരുവരും തമ്മില് ഉടമ്പടിയും ചെയ്തു.

12. And GOD, for his part, gave Solomon wisdom, just as he had promised. The healthy peace between Hiram and Solomon was formalized by a treaty.

13. ശലോമോന് രാജാവു യിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നൊക്കെയും ഊഴിയവേലക്കാരെ വരിയിട്ടെടുത്തു; ഊഴിയ വേലക്കാര് മുപ്പതിനായിരംപേരായിരുന്നു.

13. King Solomon raised a workforce of 30,000 men from all over Israel.

14. അവന് അവരെ മാസംതോറും പതിനായിരംപേര്വീതം മാറി മാറി ലെബാനോനിലേക്കു അയച്ചു; അവര് ഒരു മാസം ലെബാനോനിലും രണ്ടുമാസം വീട്ടിലും ആയിരുന്നു; അദോനീരാം ഊഴിയവേലക്കാര്ക്കും മേധാവി ആയിരുന്നു.

14. He sent them in shifts of 10,000 each month to the Lebanon forest; they would work a month in Lebanon and then be at home two months. Adoniram was in charge of the work crew.

15. വേല ചെയ്യുന്ന ജനത്തെ ഭരിച്ചു വേല നടത്തുന്ന മൂവായിരത്തിമുന്നൂറു പ്രധാനകാര്യക്കാരന്മാരൊഴികെ

15. Solomon also had 70,000 unskilled workers and another 80,000 stonecutters up in the hills--

16. ശലോമോന്നു എഴുപതിനായിരം ചുമട്ടുകാരും മലയില് എണ്പതിനായിരം കല്ലുവെട്ടുകാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

16. plus 3,300 foremen managing the project and supervising the work crews.

17. ആലയത്തിന്നു ചെത്തിയ കല്ലുകൊണ്ടു അടിസ്ഥാനം ഇടുവാന് അവര് രാജകല്പനപ്രകാരം വിശേഷപ്പെട്ട വലിയകല്ലു വെട്ടി.

17. Following the king's orders, they quarried huge blocks of the best stone--dressed stone for the foundation of The Temple.

18. ശലോമോന്റെ ശില്പികളും, ഹീരാമിന്റെ ശില്പികളും ഗെബാല്യരും ആലയപ്പണിക്കായി മരവും കല്ലും ചെത്തി ഒരുക്കി.

18. Solomon and Hiram's construction workers, assisted by the men of Gebal, cut and prepared the timber and stone for building The Temple.
