1. ശലോമോനെ അവന്റെ അപ്പന്നു പകരം രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു എന്നു സോര്രാജാവായ ഹീരാം കേട്ടിട്ടു ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു. ഹീരാം എല്ലായ്പോഴും ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനായിരുന്നു.

1. Hiram was the king of Tyre. He had always been David's friend. So when Hiram heard that Solomon had become the new king after David, he sent his servants to Solomon.

2. ശലോമോന് ഹീരാമിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചു പറയിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല്

2. This is what Solomon said to King Hiram:

3. എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ യഹോവ അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കീഴാക്കുംവരെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള യുദ്ധം ഹേതുവായി തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിവാന് അവന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

3. You remember that my father, King David, had to fight many wars all around him. So he was never able to build a temple to honor the Lord his God. King David was waiting until the Lord allowed him to defeat all his enemies.

4. എന്നാല് ഇപ്പോള് ഒരു പ്രതിയോഗിയോ വിഘ്നമോ ഇല്ല; എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ചുറ്റും എനിക്കു സ്വസ്ഥത നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. But now the Lord my God has given me peace along all the borders of my country. I have no enemies, and my people are in no danger.

5. ആകയാല് ഇതാ, ഞാന് നിനക്കു പകരം നിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരുത്തുന്ന നിന്റെ മകന് എന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിയുമെന്നു യഹോവ എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു പോലെ എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിവാന് ഞാന് വിചാരിക്കുന്നു.

5. The Lord made a promise to my father David. He said, 'I will make your son king after you, and he will build a temple to honor me.' Now, I plan to build that temple to honor the Lord my God.

6. ആകയാല് ലെബാനോനില്നിന്നു എനിക്കായി ദേവദാരുമരം മുറിപ്പാന് കല്പന കൊടുക്കേണം; എന്റെ വേലക്കാര് നിന്റെ വേലക്കാരോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും; നിന്റെ വേലക്കാര്ക്കും നീ പറയുന്ന കൂലി ഞാന് എത്തിച്ചു തരാം; സീദോന്യരെപ്പോലെ മരം മുറിപ്പാന് പരിചയമുള്ളവര് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ആരും ഇല്ല എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

6. And so I ask you to help me. Send your men to Lebanon to cut down cedar trees for me. My servants will work with yours. I will pay you any price that you decide as your servants' wages, but I need your help. Our carpenters are not as good as the carpenters of Sidon.'

7. ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടപ്പോള് ഏറ്റവും സന്തോഷിച്ചുഈ മഹാജനത്തെ വാഴുവാന് ദാവീദിന്നു ജ്ഞാനമുള്ളോരു മകനെ കൊടുത്ത യഹോവ ഇന്നു വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. Hiram was very happy when he heard what Solomon asked. He said, 'I praise the Lord today for giving David a wise son to rule this great nation!'

8. ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചു പറയിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല്നീ പറഞ്ഞയച്ച വസ്തുത ഞാന് കേട്ടു; ദേവദാരുവിന്റെയും സരളമരത്തിന്റെയും കാര്യത്തില് നീ ഇച്ഛിച്ചതു ഒക്കെയും ഞാന് ചെയ്യാം.

8. Then Hiram sent this message to Solomon, 'I heard what you asked for. I will give you all the cedar trees and the fir trees you want.

9. എന്റെ വേലക്കാര് ലെബാനോനില്നിന്നു കടലിലേക്കു അവയെ ഇറക്കിയശേഷം ഞാന് ചങ്ങാടം കെട്ടിച്ചു നീ പറയുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു കടല് വഴിയായി എത്തിച്ചു കെട്ടഴിപ്പിച്ചുതരാം; നീ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങേണം; എന്നാല് എന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു ആഹാരം എത്തിച്ചുതരുന്ന കാര്യത്തില് നീ എന്റെ ഇഷ്ടവും നിവര്ത്തിക്കേണം.

9. My servants will bring them down from Lebanon to the sea. Then I will tie them together and float them down the shore to the place you choose. There I will separate the logs, and you can take them from there.'

10. അങ്ങനെ ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്നു ദേവദാരുവും സരളമരവും അവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ഒക്കെയും കൊടുത്തു പോന്നു.

10. So Hiram gave Solomon all the cedar and fir logs that he wanted.

11. ശലോമോന് ഹീരാമിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിലേക്കു ആഹാരംവകെക്കു ഇരുപതിനായിരം പറ കോതമ്പും ഇരുപതു പറ ഇടിച്ചെടുത്ത എണ്ണയും കൊടുത്തു; ഇങ്ങനെ ശലോമോന് ഹീരാമിന്നു ആണ്ടുതോറും കൊടുക്കും.

11. Solomon gave Hiram about 120,000 bushels of wheat and about 120,000 gallons of pure olive oil every year for his family.

12. യഹോവ ശലോമോനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവന്നു ജ്ഞാനം നല്കി; ഹീരാമും ശലോമോനും തമ്മില് സമാധാനമായിരുന്നു; അവര് ഇരുവരും തമ്മില് ഉടമ്പടിയും ചെയ്തു.

12. The Lord made Solomon wise as he had promised. Hiram and Solomon made a treaty between themselves and were at peace with one another.

13. ശലോമോന് രാജാവു യിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നൊക്കെയും ഊഴിയവേലക്കാരെ വരിയിട്ടെടുത്തു; ഊഴിയ വേലക്കാര് മുപ്പതിനായിരംപേരായിരുന്നു.

13. King Solomon forced 30,000 men of Israel to help in this work.

14. അവന് അവരെ മാസംതോറും പതിനായിരംപേര്വീതം മാറി മാറി ലെബാനോനിലേക്കു അയച്ചു; അവര് ഒരു മാസം ലെബാനോനിലും രണ്ടുമാസം വീട്ടിലും ആയിരുന്നു; അദോനീരാം ഊഴിയവേലക്കാര്ക്കും മേധാവി ആയിരുന്നു.

14. He chose a man named Adoniram to be the in charge of them. Solomon divided the men into three groups with 10,000 men in each group. Each group worked one month in Lebanon and then went home for two months.

15. വേല ചെയ്യുന്ന ജനത്തെ ഭരിച്ചു വേല നടത്തുന്ന മൂവായിരത്തിമുന്നൂറു പ്രധാനകാര്യക്കാരന്മാരൊഴികെ

15. Solomon also forced 80,000 men to work in the hill country cutting stone. There were also 70,000 men to carry the stones.

16. ശലോമോന്നു എഴുപതിനായിരം ചുമട്ടുകാരും മലയില് എണ്പതിനായിരം കല്ലുവെട്ടുകാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

16. There were 3300 men to supervise the workers.

17. ആലയത്തിന്നു ചെത്തിയ കല്ലുകൊണ്ടു അടിസ്ഥാനം ഇടുവാന് അവര് രാജകല്പനപ്രകാരം വിശേഷപ്പെട്ട വലിയകല്ലു വെട്ടി.

17. King Solomon commanded them to cut large, expensive stones for the foundation of the Temple.

18. ശലോമോന്റെ ശില്പികളും, ഹീരാമിന്റെ ശില്പികളും ഗെബാല്യരും ആലയപ്പണിക്കായി മരവും കല്ലും ചെത്തി ഒരുക്കി.

18. Then Solomon and Hiram's builders and the men from Byblos carved the stones and prepared them and the logs for use in building the Temple.
