1. ഞാന് ക്രിസ്തുവില് സത്യം പറയുന്നു; ഞാന് പറയുന്നതു ഭോഷ്കല്ല.

1. I say the truth in Christ, I do not lie, my conscience testifying to me in the Holy Spirit,

2. that great distress is in me, and unceasing sorrow in my heart.

17. “ഇതിന്നായിട്ടു തന്നേ ഞാന് നിന്നെ നിര്ത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നതു; നിന്നില് എന്റെ ശക്തി കാണിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും എന്റെ നാമം സര്വ്വഭൂമിയിലും പ്രസ്താവിക്കപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്നേ” എന്നു തിരുവെഴുത്തില് ഫറവോനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

17. For the scripture says to Pharaoh, For this same thing I raised thee up, that I might display in thee my power, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.

18. അങ്ങനെ തനിക്കു മനസ്സുള്ളവനോടു അവന്നു കരുണ തോന്നുന്നു; തനിക്കു മനസ്സുള്ളവരെ അവന് കഠിനനാക്കുന്നു.

18. So then he is merciful to whom he will, and whom he will he hardens.

20. അയ്യോ, മനുഷ്യാ, ദൈവത്തൊടു പ്രത്യുത്തരം പറയുന്ന നീ ആര്? മനഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതു മനഞ്ഞവനോടുനീ എന്നെ ഇങ്ങനെ ചമെച്ചതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിക്കുമോ? അല്ല, കുശവന്നു അതേ പിണ്ഡത്തില്നിന്നു ഒരു പാത്രം മാനത്തിന്നും മറ്റൊരു പാത്രം അപമാനത്തിന്നും ഉണ്ടാക്കുവാന് മണ്ണിന്മേല് അധികാരം ഇല്ലയോ?

20. Rather, O man, who are thou answering back to God? No, will the thing formed say to him who formed it, Why did thou make me this way?

25. നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ ജനമല്ല എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞ ഇടത്തില് അവര് ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മക്കള് എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും”

25. As also he says in Hosea, I will call those not my people, my people, and her who was not beloved, beloved.

27. “യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ എണ്ണം കടല്ക്കരയിലെ മണല്പോലെ ആയിരുന്നാലും ശേഷിപ്പത്രേ രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടൂ. കര്ത്താവു ഭൂമിയില് തന്റെ വചനം നിവര്ത്തിച്ചു ക്ഷണത്തില് തീര്ക്കും” എന്നു വിളിച്ചു പറയുന്നു.

27. And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, If the number of the sons of Israel may be as the sand of the sea, the remnant will be saved.

28. “സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ കര്ത്താവു നമുക്കു സന്തതിയെ ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചില്ലെങ്കില് നാം സൊദോമെപ്പോലെ ആകുമായിരുന്നു, ഗൊമോറെക്കു സദൃശമാകുമായിരുന്നു” എന്നു യെശയ്യാ മുമ്പുകൂട്ടി പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

28. Since he is completing and finishing quickly a matter in righteousness, because a matter that has been cut short upon the earth, Lord will perform.

29. ആകയാല് നാം എന്തു പറയേണ്ടു? നീതിയെ പിന്തുടരാത്ത ജാതികള് നീതിപ്രാപിച്ചു, വിശ്വാസത്താലുള്ള നീതി തന്നേ.

29. And just as Isaiah has foretold, Unless Lord of hosts had left us a seed, we would have become as Sodom, and would have been made like Gomorrah.

30. What will we say then? That the Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness from faith.

31. അതെന്തുകൊണ്ടു? വിശ്വാസത്താലല്ല, പ്രവൃത്തികളാല് അന്വേഷിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നേ അവര് ഇടര്ച്ചക്കല്ലിന്മേല് തട്ടി ഇടറി

31. But Israel who pursued a law of righteousness, did not arrive to a law of righteousness.

32. “ഇതാ, ഞാന് സീയോനില് ഇടര്ച്ചക്കല്ലും തടങ്ങല് പാറയും വെക്കുന്നു; അവനില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് ലജ്ജിച്ചു പോകയില്ല” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

32. Why? Because it was not from faith but as from works of law. For they stumbled at the stone of stumbling,
