1. യേശു പിന്നെയും അവരോടു ഉപമകളായി പ്രസ്താവിച്ചതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. And Jesus answering, again spake to them in similes, saying,

2. “സ്വര്ഗ്ഗരാജ്യം തന്റെ പുത്രന്നു വേണ്ടി കല്യാണസദ്യ കഴിച്ച ഒരു രാജാവിനോടു സദൃശം.

2. 'The reign of the heavens was likened to a man, a king, who made marriage-feasts for his son,

3. അവന് കല്യാണത്തിന്നു ക്ഷണിച്ചവരെ വിളിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ദാസന്മാരെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു; അവര്ക്കോ വരുവാന് മനസ്സായില്ല.

3. and he sent forth his servants to call those having been called to the marriage-feasts, and they were not willing to come.

4. പിന്നെയും അവന് മറ്റു ദാസന്മാരെ അയച്ചുഎന്റെ മുത്താഴം ഒരുക്കിത്തീര്ന്നു, എന്റെ കാളകളെയും തടിപ്പിച്ച മൃഗങ്ങളെയും അറുത്തു, എല്ലാം ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; കല്യാണത്തിന്നു വരുവിന് എന്നു ക്ഷണിച്ചുവരോടു പറയിച്ചു.

4. 'Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Say to those who have been called: Lo, my dinner I prepared, my oxen and the fatlings have been killed, and all things [are] ready, come ye to the marriage-feasts;

5. അവര് അതു കൂട്ടാക്കാതെ ഒരുത്തന് തന്റെ നിലത്തിലേക്കും മറ്റൊരുത്തന് തന്റെ വ്യാപാരത്തിന്നും പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞു.

5. and they, having disregarded [it], went away, the one to his own field, and the other to his merchandise;

6. ശേഷമുള്ളവര് അവന്റെ ദാസന്മാരെ പിടിച്ചു അപമാനിച്ചു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

6. and the rest, having laid hold on his servants, did insult and slay [them].

7. രാജാവു കോപിച്ചു സൈന്യങ്ങളെ അയച്ചു ആ കുലപാതകന്മാരെ മുടിച്ചു അവരുടെ പട്ടണം ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

7. 'And the king having heard, was wroth, and having sent forth his soldiers, he destroyed those murderers, and their city he set on fire;

8. പിന്നെ അവന് ദാസന്മാരോടുകല്യാണം ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരോ യോഗ്യരായില്ല.

8. then saith he to his servants, The marriage-feast indeed is ready, and those called were not worthy,

9. ആകയാല് വഴിത്തലെക്കല് ചെന്നു കാണുന്നവരെ ഒക്കെയും കല്യാണത്തിന്നു വിളിപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. be going, then, on to the cross-ways, and as many as ye may find, call ye to the marriage-feasts.

10. ആ ദാസന്മാര് പെരുവഴികളില് പോയി, കണ്ട ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെയും നല്ലവരെയും എല്ലാം കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; കല്യാണശാല വിരുന്നുകാരെക്കൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞു.

10. 'And those servants, having gone forth to the ways, did gather all, as many as they found, both bad and good, and the marriage-feast apartment was filled with those reclining.

11. വിരുന്നുകാരെ നോക്കുവാന് രാജാവു അകത്തു വന്നപ്പോള് കല്യാണവസ്ത്രം ധരിക്കാത്ത ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ അവിടെ കണ്ടു

11. 'And the king having come in to view those reclining, saw there a man not clothed with clothing of the marriage-feast,

12. സ്നേഹിതാ നീ കല്യാണവസ്ത്രം ഇല്ലാതെ ഇവിടെ അകത്തു വന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നാല് അവന്നു വാക്കു മുട്ടിപ്പോയി.

12. and he saith to him, Comrade, how didst thou come in hither, not having clothing of the marriage-feast? and he was speechless.

13. രാജാവു ശുശ്രൂഷക്കാരോടുഇവനെ കയ്യും കാലും കെട്ടി ഏറ്റവും പുറത്തുള്ള ഇരുട്ടില് തള്ളിക്കളവിന് ; അവിടെ കരച്ചലും പല്ലുകടിയും ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. 'Then said the king to the ministrants, Having bound his feet and hands, take him up and cast forth to the outer darkness, there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth;

14. വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടവര് അനേകര്; തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടവരോ ചുരുക്കം.”

14. for many are called, and few chosen.'

15. അനന്തരം പരീശന്മാര് ചെന്നു അവനെ വാക്കില് കുടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആലോചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു

15. Then the Pharisees having gone, took counsel how they might ensnare him in words,

16. തങ്ങളുടെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ ഹെരോദ്യരോടു കൂടെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചുഗുരോ, നീ സത്യവാനും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വഴി നേരായി പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നവനും മനുഷ്യരുടെ മുഖം നോക്കാത്തവന് ആകയാല് ആരെയും ശങ്കയില്ലാത്തവനും ആകുന്നു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നു.

16. and they send to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, 'Teacher, we have known that thou art true, and the way of God in truth thou dost teach, and thou art not caring for any one, for thou dost not look to the face of men;

17. നിനക്കു എന്തു തോന്നുന്നു? കൈസര്ക്കും കരം കൊടുക്കുന്നതു വിഹിതമോ അല്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുതരേണം എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

17. tell us, therefore, what dost thou think? is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not?'

18. യേശു അവരുടെ ദുഷ്ടത അറിഞ്ഞു“കപട ഭക്തിക്കാരേ, എന്നെ പരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?

18. And Jesus having known their wickedness, said, 'Why me do ye tempt, hypocrites?

19. കരത്തിന്നുള്ള നാണയം കാണിപ്പിന്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഒരു വെള്ളിക്കാശു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

19. show me the tribute-coin?' and they brought to him a denary;

20. അവന് അവരോടു“ഈ സ്വരൂപവും മേലെഴുത്തും ആരുടേതു” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചുതിന്നു കൈസരുടേതു എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

20. and he saith to them, 'Whose [is] this image and the inscription?'

21. “എന്നാല് കൈസര്ക്കുംള്ളതു കൈസര്ക്കും ദൈവത്തിനുള്ളതു ദൈവത്തിന്നും കൊടുപ്പിന്” എന്നു അവര് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. they say to him, 'Caesar's;' then saith he to them, 'Render therefore the things of Caesar to Caesar, and the things of God to God;'

22. അവര് കേട്ടു ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു അവനെ വിട്ടു പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞു.

22. and having heard they wondered, and having left him they went away.

23. In that day there came near to him Sadducees, who are saying there is not a rising again, and they questioned him, saying,

24. ഗുരോ, ഒരുത്തന് മക്കള് ഇല്ലാതെ മരിച്ചാല് അവന്റെ സഹോദരന് അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ ദേവരവിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു തന്റെ സഹോദരന്നു സന്തതിയെ ജനിപ്പിക്കേണം എന്നു മോശെ കല്പിച്ചുവല്ലോ.

24. 'Teacher, Moses said, If any one may die not having children, his brother shall marry his wife, and shall raise up seed to his brother.

25. എന്നാല് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഏഴു സഹോദരന്മാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവരില് ഒന്നാമത്തവന് വിവാഹം ചെയ്തശേഷം മരിച്ചു, സന്തതി ഇല്ലായ്കയാല് തന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ സഹോദരന്നു വിട്ടേച്ചു.

25. 'And there were with us seven brothers, and the first having married did die, and not having seed, he left his wife to his brother;

26. രണ്ടാമത്തവനും മൂന്നാമത്തവനും ഏഴാമത്തവന് വരെയും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ.

26. in like manner also the second, and the third, unto the seventh,

27. എല്ലാവരും കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഒടുവില് സ്ത്രീയും മരിച്ചു.

27. and last of all died also the woman;

28. എന്നാല് പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തില് അവള് ഏഴുവരില് ആര്ക്കും ഭാര്യയാകും? എാല്ലവര്ക്കും ആയിരുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

28. therefore in the rising again, of which of the seven shall she be wife -- for all had her?'

29. അതിന്നു യേശു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു“നിങ്ങള് തിരുവെഴുത്തുകളെയും ദൈവശക്തിയെയും അറിയായ്കകൊണ്ടു തെറ്റിപ്പോകുന്നു.

29. And Jesus answering said to them, 'Ye go astray, not knowing the Writings, nor the power of God;

30. പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തില് അവര് വിവാഹം കഴിക്കുന്നില്ല, വിവാഹത്തിന്നു കൊടുക്കപ്പെടുന്നതുമില്ല; സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലെ ദൂതന്മാരെപ്പോലെ അത്രേ ആകുന്നു.

30. for in the rising again they do not marry, nor are they given in marriage, but are as messengers of God in heaven.

31. മരിച്ചവരുടെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചോ ദൈവം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതു നിങ്ങള് വായിച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ?

31. 'And concerning the rising again of the dead, did ye not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,

32. ഞാന് അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവവും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ദൈവവും യാക്കോബിന്റെ ദൈവവും ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവന് അരുളി ച്ചെയ്യുന്നു; എന്നാല് അവന് മരിച്ചവരുടെ ദൈവമല്ല, ജീവനുള്ളവരുടെ ദൈവമത്രേ.”

32. I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not a God of dead men, but of living.'

33. And having heard, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching;

34. സദൂക്യരെ അവന് മിണ്ടാതാക്കിയപ്രകാരം കേട്ടിട്ടു പരീശന്മാര് ഒന്നിച്ചു കൂടി,

34. and the Pharisees, having heard that he did silence the Sadducees, were gathered together unto him;

35. അവരില് ഒരു വൈദികന് അവനെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു

35. and one of them, a lawyer, did question, tempting him, and saying,

36. ഗുരോ, ന്യാപ്രമാണത്തില് ഏതു കല്പന വലിയതു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

36. 'Teacher, which [is] the great command in the Law?'

37. യേശു അവനോടു“നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കര്ത്താവിനെ നീ പൂര്ണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പൂര്ണ്ണാത്മാവോടും പൂര്ണ്ണ മനസ്സോടും കൂടെ സ്നേഹിക്കേണം.

37. And Jesus said to him, 'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thine understanding --

38. this is a first and great command;

39. കൂട്ടുകാരനെ നിന്നെപ്പോലെ തന്നേ സ്നേഹിക്കേണം.

39. and the second [is] like to it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself;

40. on these -- the two commands -- all the law and the prophets do hang.'

41. പരീശന്മാര് ഒരുമിച്ചു കൂടിയിരിക്കുമ്പോള് യേശു അവരോടു

41. And the Pharisees having been gathered together, Jesus did question them,

42. “ക്രിസ്തുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എന്തു തോന്നുന്നു?” അവന് ആരുടെ പുത്രന് എന്നി ചോദിച്ചു; ദാവീദിന്റെ പുത്രന് എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

42. saying, 'What do ye think concerning the Christ? of whom is he son?' They say to him, 'Of David.'

43. അവന് അവരോടു“എന്നാല് ദാവീദ് ആത്മാവില് അവനെ 'കര്ത്താവു' എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ?”

43. He saith to them, 'How then doth David in the Spirit call him lord, saying,

44. “ 'ഞാന് നിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ നിന്റെ പാദപീഠം ആക്കുവോളത്തിന്നു എന്റെ വലത്തുഭാഗത്തു ഇരിക്ക' എന്നു കര്ത്താവു എന്റെ കര്ത്താവിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു” എന്നു അവന് പറയുന്നുവല്ലോ. “ദാവീദ് അവനെ 'കര്ത്താവു' എന്നു പറയുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവന്റെ പുത്രന് ആകുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

44. The Lord said to my lord, Sit at my right hand, till I may make thine enemies thy footstool?

45. അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറവാന് ആര്ക്കും കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല;

45. If then David doth call him lord, how is he his son?'

46. അന്നുമുതല് ആരും അവനോടു ഒന്നും ചോദിപ്പാന് തുനിഞ്ഞതുമില്ല.

46. And no one was able to answer him a word, nor durst any from that day question him any more.
