1. രാജാവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം യഹോവയുടെ കയ്യില് നീര്ത്തോടുകണക്കെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; തനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളേടത്തേക്കൊക്കെയും അവന് അതിനെ തിരിക്കുന്നു.

1. The LORD controls rulers, just as he determines the course of rivers.

2. മനുഷ്യന്റെ വഴി ഒക്കെയും അവന്നു ചൊവ്വായിത്തോന്നുന്നു; യഹോവയോ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.

2. We may think we are doing the right thing, but the LORD always knows what is in our hearts.

3. നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു യഹോവേക്കു ഹനനയാഗത്തെക്കാള് ഇഷ്ടം.

3. Doing what is right and fair pleases the LORD more than an offering.

4. ഗര്വ്വമുള്ള കണ്ണും അഹങ്കാരഹൃദയവും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ദീപവും പാപം തന്നേ.

4. Evil people are proud and arrogant, but sin is the only crop they produce.

5. ഉത്സാഹിയുടെ വിചാരങ്ങള് സമൃദ്ധിഹേതുകങ്ങള് ആകുന്നു; ബദ്ധപ്പാടുകാരൊക്കെയും ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിലേക്കത്രേ ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നതു.

5. If you plan and work hard, you will have plenty; if you get in a hurry, you will end up poor.

6. കള്ളനാവുകൊണ്ടു ധനം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നതു പാറിപ്പോകുന്ന ആവിയാകുന്നു; അതിനെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവര് മരണത്തെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

6. Cheating to get rich is a foolish dream and no less than suicide.

7. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ സാഹസം അവര്ക്കും നാശഹേതുവാകുന്നു; ന്യായം ചെയ്വാന് അവര്ക്കും മനസ്സില്ലല്ലോ.

7. You destroy yourself by being cruel and violent and refusing to live right.

8. അകൃത്യഭാരം ചുമക്കുന്നവന്റെ വഴി വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നിര്മ്മലന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയോ ചൊവ്വുള്ളതു തന്നേ.

8. All crooks are liars, but anyone who is innocent will do right.

9. ശണ്ഠകൂടുന്ന സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പൊതുവീട്ടില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നതിനെക്കാള് മേല്പുരയുടെ ഒരു കോണില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നതു നല്ലതു.

9. It's better to stay outside on the roof of your house than to live inside with a nagging wife.

10. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മനസ്സു ദോഷത്തെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു ദയ തോന്നുന്നതുമില്ല.

10. Evil people want to do wrong, even to their friends.

11. പരിഹാസിയെ ശിക്ഷിച്ചാല് അല്പബുദ്ധി ജ്ഞാനിയായ്തീരും; ജ്ഞാനിയെ ഉപദേശിച്ചാല് അവന് പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.

11. An ignorant fool learns by seeing others punished; a sensible person learns by being instructed.

12. നീതിമാനായവന് ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്മേല് ദൃഷ്ടിവെക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ നാശത്തിലേക്കു മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

12. God is always fair! He knows what the wicked do and will punish them.

13. എളിയവന്റെ നിലവിളിക്കു ചെവി പൊത്തിക്കളയുന്നവന് താനും വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കും; ഉത്തരം ലഭിക്കയില്ല.

13. If you won't help the poor, don't expect to be heard when you cry out for help.

14. രഹസ്യത്തില് ചെയ്യുന്ന ദാനം കോപത്തെയും മടിയില് കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന സമ്മാനം ഉഗ്രകോപത്തെയും ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

14. A secret bribe will save you from someone's fierce anger.

15. ന്യായം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു നീതിമാന്നു സന്തോഷവും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാര്ക്കും ഭയങ്കരവും ആകുന്നു.

15. When justice is done, good citizens are glad and crooks are terrified.

16. വിവേകമാര്ഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുനടക്കുന്നവന് മൃതന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് വിശ്രമിക്കും.

16. If you stop using good sense, you will find yourself in the grave.

17. ഉല്ലാസപ്രിയന് ദരിദ്രനായ്തീരും; വീഞ്ഞും തൈലവും പ്രിയപ്പെടുന്നവന് ധനവാനാകയില്ല.

17. Heavy drinkers and others who live only for pleasure will lose all they have.

18. ദുഷ്ടന് നീതിമാന്നു മറുവിലയാകും; ദ്രോഹി നേരുള്ളവര്ക്കും പകരമായ്തീരും.

18. God's people will escape, but all who are wicked will pay the price.

19. ശണ്ഠയും ദുശ്ശീലവുമുള്ള സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്കുംന്നതിലും നിര്ജ്ജനപ്രദേശത്തു പോയി പാര്ക്കുംന്നതു നല്ലതു.

19. It's better out in the desert than at home with a nagging, complaining wife.

20. ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ പാര്പ്പിടത്തില് വിലയേറിയ നിക്ഷേപവും തൈലവും ഉണ്ടു; മൂഢനോ അവയെ ദുര്വ്യയം ചെയ്തുകളയുന്നു.

20. Be sensible and store up precious treasures-- don't waste them like a fool.

21. നീതിയും ദയയും പിന്തുടരുന്നവന് ജീവനും നീതിയും മാനവും കണ്ടെത്തും.

21. If you try to be kind and good, you will be blessed with life and goodness and honor.

22. ജ്ഞാനി വീരന്മാരുടെ പട്ടണത്തില് കയറുകയും അതിന്റെ ആശ്രയമായ കോട്ടയെ ഇടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

22. One wise person can defeat a city full of soldiers and capture their fortress.

23. വായും നാവും സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവന് തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കഷ്ടങ്ങളില്നിന്നു സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

23. Watching what you say can save you a lot of trouble.

24. നിഗളവും ഗര്വ്വവും ഉള്ളവന്നു പരിഹാസി എന്നു പേര്; അവന് ഗര്വ്വത്തിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരത്തോടെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു.

24. If you are proud and conceited, everyone will say, 'You're a snob!'

25. മടിയന്റെ കൊതി അവന്നു മരണഹേതു; വേലചെയ്വാന് അവന്റെ കൈകള് മടിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

25. If you want too much and are too lazy to work, it could be fatal.

26. ചിലര് നിത്യം അത്യാഗ്രഹത്തോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നീതിമാനോ ലോഭിക്കാതെ കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. But people who obey God are always generous.

27. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ഹനനയാഗം വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു; അവന് ദുരാന്തരത്തോടെ അതു അര്പ്പിച്ചാല് എത്ര അധികം!

27. The Lord despises the offerings of wicked people with evil motives.

28. കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷി നശിച്ചുപോകും; ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകേള്ക്കുന്നവന്നോ എപ്പോഴും സംസാരിക്കാം.

28. If you tell lies in court, you are done for; only a reliable witness can do the job.

29. ദുഷ്ടന് മുഖധാര്ഷ്ട്യം കാണിക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവനോ തന്റെ വഴി നന്നാക്കുന്നു.

29. Wicked people bluff their way, but God's people think before they take a step.

30. യഹോവെക്കെതിരെ ജ്ഞാനവുമില്ല, ബുദ്ധിയുമില്ല, ആലോചനയുമില്ല.

30. No matter how much you know or what plans you make, you can't defeat the LORD.

31. കുതിരയെ യുദ്ധദിവസത്തേക്കു ചമയിക്കുന്നു; ജയമോ യഹോവയുടെ കൈവശത്തിലിരിക്കുന്നു.

31. Even if your army has horses ready for battle, the LORD will always win.
