1. രാജാവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം യഹോവയുടെ കയ്യില് നീര്ത്തോടുകണക്കെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; തനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളേടത്തേക്കൊക്കെയും അവന് അതിനെ തിരിക്കുന്നു.

1. The king's heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; he guides it wherever he pleases.

2. മനുഷ്യന്റെ വഴി ഒക്കെയും അവന്നു ചൊവ്വായിത്തോന്നുന്നു; യഹോവയോ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.

2. People may be right in their own eyes, but the LORD examines their heart.

3. നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു യഹോവേക്കു ഹനനയാഗത്തെക്കാള് ഇഷ്ടം.

3. The LORD is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices.

4. ഗര്വ്വമുള്ള കണ്ണും അഹങ്കാരഹൃദയവും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ദീപവും പാപം തന്നേ.

4. Haughty eyes, a proud heart, and evil actions are all sin.

5. ഉത്സാഹിയുടെ വിചാരങ്ങള് സമൃദ്ധിഹേതുകങ്ങള് ആകുന്നു; ബദ്ധപ്പാടുകാരൊക്കെയും ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിലേക്കത്രേ ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നതു.

5. Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.

6. കള്ളനാവുകൊണ്ടു ധനം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നതു പാറിപ്പോകുന്ന ആവിയാകുന്നു; അതിനെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവര് മരണത്തെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

6. Wealth created by a lying tongue is a vanishing mist and a deadly trap.

7. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ സാഹസം അവര്ക്കും നാശഹേതുവാകുന്നു; ന്യായം ചെയ്വാന് അവര്ക്കും മനസ്സില്ലല്ലോ.

7. The violence of the wicked sweeps them away, because they refuse to do what is just.

8. അകൃത്യഭാരം ചുമക്കുന്നവന്റെ വഴി വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നിര്മ്മലന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയോ ചൊവ്വുള്ളതു തന്നേ.

8. The guilty walk a crooked path; the innocent travel a straight road.

9. ശണ്ഠകൂടുന്ന സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പൊതുവീട്ടില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നതിനെക്കാള് മേല്പുരയുടെ ഒരു കോണില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നതു നല്ലതു.

9. It's better to live alone in the corner of an attic than with a quarrelsome wife in a lovely home.

10. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മനസ്സു ദോഷത്തെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു ദയ തോന്നുന്നതുമില്ല.

10. Evil people desire evil; their neighbors get no mercy from them.

11. പരിഹാസിയെ ശിക്ഷിച്ചാല് അല്പബുദ്ധി ജ്ഞാനിയായ്തീരും; ജ്ഞാനിയെ ഉപദേശിച്ചാല് അവന് പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.

11. If you punish a mocker, the simpleminded become wise; if you instruct the wise, they will be all the wiser.

12. നീതിമാനായവന് ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്മേല് ദൃഷ്ടിവെക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ നാശത്തിലേക്കു മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

12. The Righteous One knows what is going on in the homes of the wicked; he will bring disaster on them.

13. എളിയവന്റെ നിലവിളിക്കു ചെവി പൊത്തിക്കളയുന്നവന് താനും വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കും; ഉത്തരം ലഭിക്കയില്ല.

13. Those who shut their ears to the cries of the poor will be ignored in their own time of need.

14. രഹസ്യത്തില് ചെയ്യുന്ന ദാനം കോപത്തെയും മടിയില് കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന സമ്മാനം ഉഗ്രകോപത്തെയും ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

14. A secret gift calms anger; a bribe under the table pacifies fury.

15. ന്യായം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു നീതിമാന്നു സന്തോഷവും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാര്ക്കും ഭയങ്കരവും ആകുന്നു.

15. Justice is a joy to the godly, but it terrifies evildoers.

16. വിവേകമാര്ഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുനടക്കുന്നവന് മൃതന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് വിശ്രമിക്കും.

16. The person who strays from common sense will end up in the company of the dead.

17. ഉല്ലാസപ്രിയന് ദരിദ്രനായ്തീരും; വീഞ്ഞും തൈലവും പ്രിയപ്പെടുന്നവന് ധനവാനാകയില്ല.

17. Those who love pleasure become poor; those who love wine and luxury will never be rich.

18. ദുഷ്ടന് നീതിമാന്നു മറുവിലയാകും; ദ്രോഹി നേരുള്ളവര്ക്കും പകരമായ്തീരും.

18. The wicked are punished in place of the godly, and traitors in place of the honest.

19. ശണ്ഠയും ദുശ്ശീലവുമുള്ള സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്കുംന്നതിലും നിര്ജ്ജനപ്രദേശത്തു പോയി പാര്ക്കുംന്നതു നല്ലതു.

19. It's better to live alone in the desert than with a quarrelsome, complaining wife.

20. ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ പാര്പ്പിടത്തില് വിലയേറിയ നിക്ഷേപവും തൈലവും ഉണ്ടു; മൂഢനോ അവയെ ദുര്വ്യയം ചെയ്തുകളയുന്നു.

20. The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they get.

21. നീതിയും ദയയും പിന്തുടരുന്നവന് ജീവനും നീതിയും മാനവും കണ്ടെത്തും.

21. Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life, righteousness, and honor.

22. ജ്ഞാനി വീരന്മാരുടെ പട്ടണത്തില് കയറുകയും അതിന്റെ ആശ്രയമായ കോട്ടയെ ഇടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

22. The wise conquer the city of the strong and level the fortress in which they trust.

23. വായും നാവും സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവന് തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കഷ്ടങ്ങളില്നിന്നു സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

23. Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble.

24. നിഗളവും ഗര്വ്വവും ഉള്ളവന്നു പരിഹാസി എന്നു പേര്; അവന് ഗര്വ്വത്തിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരത്തോടെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു.

24. Mockers are proud and haughty; they act with boundless arrogance.

25. മടിയന്റെ കൊതി അവന്നു മരണഹേതു; വേലചെയ്വാന് അവന്റെ കൈകള് മടിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

25. Despite their desires, the lazy will come to ruin, for their hands refuse to work.

26. ചിലര് നിത്യം അത്യാഗ്രഹത്തോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നീതിമാനോ ലോഭിക്കാതെ കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give!

27. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ഹനനയാഗം വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു; അവന് ദുരാന്തരത്തോടെ അതു അര്പ്പിച്ചാല് എത്ര അധികം!

27. The sacrifice of an evil person is detestable, especially when it is offered with wrong motives.

28. കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷി നശിച്ചുപോകും; ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകേള്ക്കുന്നവന്നോ എപ്പോഴും സംസാരിക്കാം.

28. A false witness will be cut off, but a credible witness will be allowed to speak.

29. ദുഷ്ടന് മുഖധാര്ഷ്ട്യം കാണിക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവനോ തന്റെ വഴി നന്നാക്കുന്നു.

29. The wicked bluff their way through, but the virtuous think before they act.

30. യഹോവെക്കെതിരെ ജ്ഞാനവുമില്ല, ബുദ്ധിയുമില്ല, ആലോചനയുമില്ല.

30. No human wisdom or understanding or plan can stand against the LORD.

31. കുതിരയെ യുദ്ധദിവസത്തേക്കു ചമയിക്കുന്നു; ജയമോ യഹോവയുടെ കൈവശത്തിലിരിക്കുന്നു.

31. The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the LORD.
