1. രാജാവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം യഹോവയുടെ കയ്യില് നീര്ത്തോടുകണക്കെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; തനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളേടത്തേക്കൊക്കെയും അവന് അതിനെ തിരിക്കുന്നു.

1. The LORD controls the mind of a king as easily as he directs the course of a stream.

2. മനുഷ്യന്റെ വഴി ഒക്കെയും അവന്നു ചൊവ്വായിത്തോന്നുന്നു; യഹോവയോ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.

2. You may think that everything you do is right, but remember that the LORD judges your motives.

3. നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു യഹോവേക്കു ഹനനയാഗത്തെക്കാള് ഇഷ്ടം.

3. Do what is right and fair; that pleases the LORD more than bringing him sacrifices.

4. ഗര്വ്വമുള്ള കണ്ണും അഹങ്കാരഹൃദയവും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ദീപവും പാപം തന്നേ.

4. Wicked people are controlled by their conceit and arrogance, and this is sinful.

5. ഉത്സാഹിയുടെ വിചാരങ്ങള് സമൃദ്ധിഹേതുകങ്ങള് ആകുന്നു; ബദ്ധപ്പാടുകാരൊക്കെയും ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിലേക്കത്രേ ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നതു.

5. Plan carefully and you will have plenty; if you act too quickly, you will never have enough.

6. കള്ളനാവുകൊണ്ടു ധനം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നതു പാറിപ്പോകുന്ന ആവിയാകുന്നു; അതിനെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവര് മരണത്തെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

6. The riches you get by dishonesty soon disappear, but not before they lead you into the jaws of death.

7. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ സാഹസം അവര്ക്കും നാശഹേതുവാകുന്നു; ന്യായം ചെയ്വാന് അവര്ക്കും മനസ്സില്ലല്ലോ.

7. The wicked are doomed by their own violence; they refuse to do what is right.

8. അകൃത്യഭാരം ചുമക്കുന്നവന്റെ വഴി വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നിര്മ്മലന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയോ ചൊവ്വുള്ളതു തന്നേ.

8. Guilty people walk a crooked path; the innocent do what is right.

9. ശണ്ഠകൂടുന്ന സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പൊതുവീട്ടില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നതിനെക്കാള് മേല്പുരയുടെ ഒരു കോണില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നതു നല്ലതു.

9. Better to live on the roof than share the house with a nagging wife.

10. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മനസ്സു ദോഷത്തെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു ദയ തോന്നുന്നതുമില്ല.

10. Wicked people are always hungry for evil; they have no mercy on anyone.

11. പരിഹാസിയെ ശിക്ഷിച്ചാല് അല്പബുദ്ധി ജ്ഞാനിയായ്തീരും; ജ്ഞാനിയെ ഉപദേശിച്ചാല് അവന് പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.

11. When someone who is conceited gets his punishment, even an unthinking person learns a lesson. One who is wise will learn from what he is taught.

12. നീതിമാനായവന് ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്മേല് ദൃഷ്ടിവെക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ നാശത്തിലേക്കു മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

12. God, the righteous one, knows what goes on in the homes of the wicked, and he will bring the wicked down to ruin.

13. എളിയവന്റെ നിലവിളിക്കു ചെവി പൊത്തിക്കളയുന്നവന് താനും വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കും; ഉത്തരം ലഭിക്കയില്ല.

13. If you refuse to listen to the cry of the poor, your own cry for help will not be heard.

14. രഹസ്യത്തില് ചെയ്യുന്ന ദാനം കോപത്തെയും മടിയില് കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന സമ്മാനം ഉഗ്രകോപത്തെയും ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

14. If someone is angry with you, a gift given secretly will calm him down.

15. ന്യായം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതു നീതിമാന്നു സന്തോഷവും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാര്ക്കും ഭയങ്കരവും ആകുന്നു.

15. When justice is done, good people are happy, but evil people are brought to despair.

16. വിവേകമാര്ഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുനടക്കുന്നവന് മൃതന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് വിശ്രമിക്കും.

16. Death is waiting for anyone who wanders away from good sense.

17. ഉല്ലാസപ്രിയന് ദരിദ്രനായ്തീരും; വീഞ്ഞും തൈലവും പ്രിയപ്പെടുന്നവന് ധനവാനാകയില്ല.

17. Indulging in luxuries, wine, and rich food will never make you wealthy.

18. ദുഷ്ടന് നീതിമാന്നു മറുവിലയാകും; ദ്രോഹി നേരുള്ളവര്ക്കും പകരമായ്തീരും.

18. The wicked bring on themselves the suffering they try to cause good people.

19. ശണ്ഠയും ദുശ്ശീലവുമുള്ള സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പാര്ക്കുംന്നതിലും നിര്ജ്ജനപ്രദേശത്തു പോയി പാര്ക്കുംന്നതു നല്ലതു.

19. Better to live out in the desert than with a nagging, complaining wife.

20. ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ പാര്പ്പിടത്തില് വിലയേറിയ നിക്ഷേപവും തൈലവും ഉണ്ടു; മൂഢനോ അവയെ ദുര്വ്യയം ചെയ്തുകളയുന്നു.

20. Wise people live in wealth and luxury, but stupid people spend their money as fast as they get it.

21. നീതിയും ദയയും പിന്തുടരുന്നവന് ജീവനും നീതിയും മാനവും കണ്ടെത്തും.

21. Be kind and honest and you will live a long life; others will respect you and treat you fairly.

22. ജ്ഞാനി വീരന്മാരുടെ പട്ടണത്തില് കയറുകയും അതിന്റെ ആശ്രയമായ കോട്ടയെ ഇടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

22. A shrewd general can take a city defended by strong men, and destroy the walls they relied on.

23. വായും നാവും സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവന് തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കഷ്ടങ്ങളില്നിന്നു സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

23. If you want to stay out of trouble, be careful what you say.

24. നിഗളവും ഗര്വ്വവും ഉള്ളവന്നു പരിഹാസി എന്നു പേര്; അവന് ഗര്വ്വത്തിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരത്തോടെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു.

24. Show me a conceited person and I will show you someone who is arrogant, proud, and inconsiderate.

25. മടിയന്റെ കൊതി അവന്നു മരണഹേതു; വേലചെയ്വാന് അവന്റെ കൈകള് മടിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

25. Lazy people who refuse to work are only killing themselves;

26. ചിലര് നിത്യം അത്യാഗ്രഹത്തോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നീതിമാനോ ലോഭിക്കാതെ കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. all they do is think about what they would like to have. The righteous, however, can give, and give generously.

27. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ഹനനയാഗം വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു; അവന് ദുരാന്തരത്തോടെ അതു അര്പ്പിച്ചാല് എത്ര അധികം!

27. The LORD hates it when wicked people offer him sacrifices, especially if they do it from evil motives.

28. കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷി നശിച്ചുപോകും; ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകേള്ക്കുന്നവന്നോ എപ്പോഴും സംസാരിക്കാം.

28. The testimony of a liar is not believed, but the word of someone who thinks matters through is accepted.

29. ദുഷ്ടന് മുഖധാര്ഷ്ട്യം കാണിക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവനോ തന്റെ വഴി നന്നാക്കുന്നു.

29. Righteous people are sure of themselves; the wicked have to pretend as best they can.

30. യഹോവെക്കെതിരെ ജ്ഞാനവുമില്ല, ബുദ്ധിയുമില്ല, ആലോചനയുമില്ല.

30. Human wisdom, brilliance, insight---they are of no help if the LORD is against you.

31. കുതിരയെ യുദ്ധദിവസത്തേക്കു ചമയിക്കുന്നു; ജയമോ യഹോവയുടെ കൈവശത്തിലിരിക്കുന്നു.

31. You can get horses ready for battle, but it is the LORD who gives victory.
