1. ഇയ്യോബ് പിന്നെയും സുഭാഷിതം ചൊല്ലിയതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. And Job again took up his measure, and said,

2. അയ്യോ പണ്ടത്തെ മാസങ്ങളിലെപ്പോലെ ദൈവം എന്നെ കാത്തുപോന്ന നാളുകളിലെപ്പോലെ ഞാന് ആയെങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു.

2. Oh that it were with me as in the months of old, as in the days, when, GOD, used to watch over me;

3. അന്നു അവന്റെ ദീപം എന്റെ തലെക്കു മീതെ പ്രകാശിച്ചു; അവന്റെ വെളിച്ചത്താല് ഞാന് ഇരുട്ടില് കൂടി നടന്നു

3. When his lamp shone over my head, by whose light, I could go through darkness;

4. എന്റെ കൂടാരത്തിന്നു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സഖ്യത ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും സര്വ്വശക്തന് എന്നോടുകൂടെ വസിക്കയും.

4. As I was, in the days of my prime, when, the intimacy of GOD, was over my tent;

5. എന്റെ മക്കള് എന്റെ ചുറ്റും ഇരിക്കയും ചെയ്ത എന്റെ ശുഭകാലത്തിലെപ്പോലെ ഞാന് ആയെങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു.

5. While yet the Almighty was with me, round about me, were my young men;

6. അന്നു ഞാന് എന്റെ കാലുകളെ വെണ്ണകൊണ്ടു കഴുകി; പാറ എനിക്കു തൈലനദികളെ ഒഴുക്കിത്തന്നു.

6. When my steps were bathed in milk, and, the rock, poured out beside me, rivulets of oil:

7. ഞാന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു പടിവാതില്ക്കല് ചെന്നു. വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു എന്റെ ഇരിപ്പിടം വേക്കുമ്പോള്

7. When I went out to the gate unto the city, in the open place, made ready my seat,

8. യൌവനക്കാര് എന്നെ കണ്ടിട്ടു ഒളിക്കും; വൃദ്ധന്മാര് എഴുന്നേറ്റുനിലക്കും.

8. Young men saw me, and hid themselves, and, the aged, arose they stood;

9. പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് സംസാരം നിര്ത്തി, കൈകൊണ്ടു വായ്പൊത്തും.

9. Rulers, restrained speech, and, a hand, laid they on their mouth;

10. ശ്രേഷ്ഠന്മാരുടെ ശബ്ദം അടങ്ങും; അവരുടെ നാവു അണ്ണാക്കോടു പറ്റും.

10. The voice of nobles, was hushed, and their tongue to their palate, did cleave;

11. എന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ട ചെവി എന്നെ വാഴ്ത്തും; എന്നെ കണ്ട കണ്ണു എനിക്കു സാക്ഷ്യം നലകും.

11. When, the ear, heard, then it pronounced me happy, When, the eye, saw, then it bare me witness;

12. നിലവിളിച്ച എളിയവനെയും അനാഥനെയും തുണയറ്റവനെയും ഞാന് വിടുവിച്ചു.

12. Because I used to deliver the oppressed who was crying out for aid, the fatherless also, and him that had no helper;

13. നശിക്കുമാറായവന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹം എന്റെ മേല് വന്നു; വിധവയുടെ ഹൃദയത്തെ ഞാന് സന്തോഷം കൊണ്ടു ആര്ക്കുംമാറാക്കി.

13. The blessing of him that was ready to perish, upon me was wont to descend, and, the heart of the widow, caused I to sing for joy;

14. ഞാന് നീതിയെ ധരിച്ചു; അതു എന്റെ ഉടുപ്പായിരുന്നു; എന്റെ ന്യായം ഉത്തരീയവും തലപ്പാവും പോലെയായിരുന്നു.

14. Righteousness, I put on, and it clothed me, Like a robe and turban, was my, justice;

15. ഞാന് കുരുടന്നു കണ്ണും മുടന്തന്നു കാലും ആയിരുന്നു.

15. Eyes, became I to the, blind, and, feet to the lame, was, I!

16. ദരിദ്രന്മാര്ക്കും ഞാന് അപ്പനായിരുന്നു; ഞാന് അറിയാത്തവന്റെ വ്യവഹാരം പരിശോധിച്ചു.

16. A father, was, I, to the needy, and, as for the cause which I knew not, I used to search it out;

17. നീതികെട്ടവന്റെ അണപ്പല്ലു ഞാന് തകര്ത്തു; അവന്റെ പല്ലിന് ഇടയില്നിന്നു ഇരയെ പറിച്ചെടുത്തു.

17. And I shivered the fangs of the perverse, and, out of his teeth, I tare the prey.

18. എന്റെ കൂട്ടില്വെച്ചു ഞാന് മരിക്കും; ഹോല്പക്ഷിയെപ്പോലെ ഞാന് ദീര്ഘായുസ്സോടെ ഇരിക്കും.

18. Then said I, Like a stem, shall I grow old, yea, as the sand, shall I multiply days:

19. എന്റെ വേര് വെള്ളത്തോളം പടര്ന്നുചെല്ലുന്നു; എന്റെ കൊമ്പിന്മേല് മഞ്ഞു രാപാര്ക്കുംന്നു.

19. My root, is laid open to the waters, and, the dew, shall lodge for the night in my boughs;

20. എന്റെ മഹത്വം എന്നില് പച്ചയായിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ വില്ലു എന്റെ കയ്യില് പുതുകുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞു.

20. Mine honour, shall be young again with me, and, my bow, in my hand, be renewed.

21. മനുഷ്യര് കാത്തിരുന്നു എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കും; എന്റെ ആലോചന കേള്പ്പാന് മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കും.

21. To me, men hearkened, and waited, and kept silence for my counsel;

22. ഞാന് സംസാരിച്ചശേഷം അവര് മിണ്ടുകയില്ല; എന്റെ മൊഴി അവരുടെമേല് ഇറ്റിറ്റു വീഴും.

22. After I had spoken, they spake not again, and, upon them, used my speech to drop;

23. മഴെക്കു എന്നപോലെ അവര് എനിക്കായി കാത്തിരിക്കും; പിന്മഴെക്കെന്നപോലെ അവര് വായ്പിളര്ക്കും.

23. And they waited, as for rain, for me, and, their mouths, they opened wide for the spring-rain;

24. അവര് നിരാശപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് ഞാന് അവരെ നോക്കി പുഞ്ചിരിയിടും; എന്റെ മുഖപ്രസാദം അവര് മങ്ങിക്കയുമില്ല.

24. I laughed at them they lost confidence, and, the light of my countenance, they suffered not to fail;

25. ഞാന് അവരുടെ വഴി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു തലവനായിട്ടു ഇരിക്കും; സൈന്യസഹിതനായ രാജാവിനെപ്പോലെയും ദുഃഖിതന്മാരെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുന്നവനെപ്പോലെയും ഞാന് വസിക്കും;

25. I chose out their way, and sat chief, and abode, as king, in an army, as one who, to mourners, giveth comfort.
