1. അനന്തരം യഹോവ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റില് നിന്നു ഇയ്യോബിനോടു ഉത്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്നാല്

2. അറിവില്ലാത്ത വാക്കുകളാല് ആലോചനയെ ഇരുളാക്കുന്നോരിവനാര്?

2. 'Who is this, darkening my plans with his ignorant words?

3. നീ പുരുഷനെപ്പോലെ അര മുറുക്കികൊള്ക; ഞാന് നിന്നോടു ചോദിക്കും; എന്നോടു ഉത്തരം പറക.

3. Stand up like a man, and brace yourself; I will ask questions; and you, give the answers!

4. ഞാന് ഭൂമിക്കു അടിസ്ഥാനമിട്ടപ്പോള് നീ എവിടെയായിരുന്നു? നിനക്കു വിവേകമുണ്ടെങ്കില് പ്രസ്താവിക്ക.

4. 'Where were you when I founded the earth? Tell me, if you know so much.

5. അതിന്റെ അളവു നിയമിച്ചവന് ആര്? നീ അറിയുന്നുവോ? അല്ല, അതിന്നു അളവുനൂല് പിടിച്ചവനാര്?

5. Do you know who determined its dimensions or who stretched the measuring line across it?

8. 'Who shut up the sea behind closed doors when it gushed forth from the womb,

9. അന്നു ഞാന് മേഘത്തെ അതിന്നു ഉടുപ്പും കൂരിരുളിനെ അതിന്നു ചുറ്റാടയും ആക്കി;

9. when I made the clouds its blanket and dense fog its swaddling cloth,

10. ഞാന് അതിന്നു അതിര് നിയമിച്ചു കതകും ഔടാമ്പലും വെച്ചു.

10. when I made the breakers its boundary set its gates and bars,

11. ഇത്രത്തോളം നിനക്കുവരാം; ഇതു കടക്കരുതു; ഇവിടെ നിന്റെ തിരമാലകളുടെ ഗര്വ്വം നിലെക്കും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

11. and said, 'You may come this far, but no farther; here your proud waves must stop'?

12. ഭൂമിയുടെ അറ്റങ്ങളെ പിടിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ അതില്നിന്നു കുടഞ്ഞുകളയേണ്ടതിന്നും

12. Have you ever in your life called up the dawn and made the morning know its place,

13. നിന്റെ ജീവകാലത്തൊരിക്കലെങ്കിലും നീ പ്രഭാതത്തിന്നു കല്പന കൊടുക്കയും അരുണോദയത്തിന്നു സ്ഥലം ആദേശിക്കയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

13. so that it could take hold of the edges of the earth and shake the wicked out of it?

14. അതു മുദ്രെക്കു കീഴിലെ അരകൂപോലെ മാറുന്നു; വസ്ത്രംപോലെ ആസകലം വിളങ്ങിനിലക്കുന്നു.

14. Then the earth is changed like clay under a seal, until its colors are fixed like those of a garment.

15. ദുഷ്ടന്മാര്ക്കും വെളിച്ചം മുടങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു; ഔങ്ങിയ ഭുജവും ഒടിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

15. But from the wicked the light is withheld, and the arm raised [[to strike]] is broken.

16. നീ സമുദ്രത്തിന്റെ ഉറവുകളോളം ചെന്നിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ആഴിയുടെ ആഴത്തില് സഞ്ചരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

16. 'Have you gone down to the springs of the sea or explored the limits of the deep?

17. മരണത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകള് നിനക്കു വെളിപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ? അന്ധതമസ്സിന്റെ വാതിലുകളെ നീ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

17. Have the gates of death been revealed to you, the gates of death-like darkness?

18. ഭൂമിയുടെ വിശാലത നീ ഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ഇതൊക്കെയും അറിയുന്നുവെങ്കില് പ്രസ്താവിക്ക.

18. Have you surveyed the full extent of the earth? Say so, if you know it all!

19. വെളിച്ചം വസിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കുള്ള വഴി ഏതു? ഇരുളിന്റെ പാര്പ്പിടവും എവിടെ?

19. 'Which way leads to where light has its home? and darkness, where does it dwell?

20. നിനക്കു അവയെ അവയുടെ അതിരോളം കൊണ്ടുപോകാമോ? അവയുടെ വീട്ടിലേക്കുള്ള പാത അറിയാമോ?

20. If you knew, you could take each to its place and set it on its homeward path.

21. നീ അന്നേ ജനിച്ചിരുന്നുവല്ലോ; നിനക്കു ആയുസ്സു ഒട്ടും കുറവല്ലല്ലോ; നീ അതു അറിയാതിരിക്കുമോ?

21. You know, of course, because you were born then; by now you must be very old!

22. നീ ഹിമത്തിന്റെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തോളം ചെന്നിട്ടുണ്ടോ? കന്മഴയുടെ ഭണ്ഡാരം നീ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

22. 'Have you gone into the storehouses for snow or seen the storehouses for hail,

23. ഞാന് അവയെ കഷ്ടകാലത്തേക്കും പോരും പടയുമുള്ള നാളിലേക്കും സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

23. which I save for times of trouble, for days of battle and war?

24. വെളിച്ചം പിരിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നതും കിഴക്കന് കാറ്റു ഭൂമിമേല് വ്യാപിക്കുന്നതും ആയ വഴി ഏതു?

24. 'By what path is light dispersed, or the east wind poured out on the land?

25. നിര്ജ്ജനദേശത്തും ആള് പാര്പ്പില്ലാത്ത മരുഭൂമിയിലും മഴ പെയ്യിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

25. Who cut a channel for the downpours, or a way for the lightning and thunder,

26. തരിശും ശൂന്യവുമായ നിലത്തിന്റെ ദാഹം തീര്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും ഇളമ്പുല്ലു മുളെപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

26. causing it to rain where no one is, in a desert without anyone there,

27. ജലപ്രവാഹത്തിന്നു ചാലും ഇടിമിന്നലിന്നു പാതയും വെട്ടിക്കൊടുത്തതാര്?

27. drenching the waste and desolate [[ground]], till the tender grass sprouts?

28. മഴെക്കു അപ്പനുണ്ടോ? അല്ല, മഞ്ഞുതുള്ളികളെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചതാര്?

28. Does the rain have a father? Who is the father of dewdrops?

29. ആരുടെ ഗര്ഭത്തില്നിന്നു ഹിമം പുറപ്പെടുന്നു? ആകാശത്തിലെ നീഹാരത്തെ ആര് പ്രസവിക്കുന്നു?

29. From whose womb does ice come? Who gives birth to the frost of heaven,

30. വെള്ളം കല്ലുപോലെ ഉറെച്ചുപോകുന്നു. ആഴിയുടെ മുഖം കട്ടിയായിത്തീരുന്നു.

30. when water becomes as hard as stone, and the surface of the deep freezes solid?

31. കാര്ത്തികയുടെ ചങ്ങല നിനക്കു ബന്ധിക്കാമോ? മകയിരത്തിന്റെ ബന്ധനങ്ങള് അഴിക്കാമോ?

31. 'Can you tie up the cords of the Pleiades or loosen the belt of Orion?

32. നിനക്കു രാശിചക്രത്തെ അതിന്റെ കാലത്തു പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കാമോ? സപ്തര്ഷികളെയും മക്കളെയും നിനക്കു നടത്താമോ?

32. Can you lead out the constellations of the zodiac in their season or guide the Great Bear and its cubs?

33. ആകാശത്തിലെ നിയമങ്ങളെ നീ അറിയുന്നുവോ? അതിന്നു ഭൂമിമേലുള്ള സ്വാധീനത നിര്ണ്ണയിക്കാമോ?

33. Do you know the laws of the sky? Can you determine how they affect the earth?

34. ജലപ്രവാഹം നിന്നെ മൂടേണ്ടതിന്നു നിനക്കു മേഘങ്ങളോളം ശബ്ദം ഉയര്ത്താമോ?

34. 'Can you raise your voice to the clouds and make them cover you with a flood of rain?

35. അടിയങ്ങള് വിടകൊള്ളുന്നു എന്നു നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു പുറപ്പെടുവാന്തക്കവണ്ണം നിനക്കു മിന്നലുകളെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കാമോ?

35. Can you send lightning bolts on their way? Will they say to you, 'Here we are'?

36. അന്തരംഗത്തില് ജ്ഞാനത്തെ വെച്ചവനാര്? മനസ്സിന്നു വിവേകം കൊടുത്തവന് ആര്?

36. 'Who put wisdom in people's inner parts? Who gave understanding to the mind?

37. ഉരുക്കിവാര്ത്തതുപോലെ പൊടിതമ്മില് കൂടുമ്പോഴും മണ്കട്ട ഒന്നോടൊന്നു പറ്റിപ്പോകുമ്പോഴും

37. Who, by wisdom, can number the clouds? Who can tilt the water-skins of heaven,

38. ജ്ഞാനത്താല് മേഘങ്ങളെ എണ്ണുന്നതാര്? ആകാശത്തിലെ തുരുത്തികളെ ചരിക്കുന്നതാര്?

38. so that the dust becomes a mass [[of mud]], and its clods stick together?

39. സിംഹങ്ങള് ഗുഹകളില് പതുങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുമ്പോഴും അവ മുറ്റുകാട്ടില് പതിയിരിക്കുമ്പോഴും

39. 'Can you hunt prey for a lioness or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,

40. നീ സിംഹിക്കു ഇര വേട്ടയാടിക്കൊടുക്കുമോ? ബാലസിംഹങ്ങളുടെ വിശപ്പടക്കുമോ?

40. when they crouch in their dens or lie in ambush in their lairs?

41. കാക്കകൂഞ്ഞുങ്ങള് ഇരകിട്ടാതെ ഉഴന്നു ദൈവത്തോടു നിലവിളിക്കുമ്പോള് അതിന്നു തീന് എത്തിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്നതാര്?

41. Who provides food for the raven when his young cry out to God and wander about for lack of food?
