1. അനന്തരം യഹോവ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റില് നിന്നു ഇയ്യോബിനോടു ഉത്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. THEN THE Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said,

2. അറിവില്ലാത്ത വാക്കുകളാല് ആലോചനയെ ഇരുളാക്കുന്നോരിവനാര്?

2. Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? [Job 35:16.]

3. നീ പുരുഷനെപ്പോലെ അര മുറുക്കികൊള്ക; ഞാന് നിന്നോടു ചോദിക്കും; എന്നോടു ഉത്തരം പറക.

3. Gird up now your loins like a man, and I will demand of you, and you declare to Me.

4. ഞാന് ഭൂമിക്കു അടിസ്ഥാനമിട്ടപ്പോള് നീ എവിടെയായിരുന്നു? നിനക്കു വിവേകമുണ്ടെങ്കില് പ്രസ്താവിക്ക.

4. Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Declare to Me, if you have and know understanding.

5. അതിന്റെ അളവു നിയമിച്ചവന് ആര്? നീ അറിയുന്നുവോ? അല്ല, അതിന്നു അളവുനൂല് പിടിച്ചവനാര്?

5. Who determined the measures of the earth, if you know? Or who stretched the measuring line upon it?

6. പ്രഭാതനക്ഷത്രങ്ങള് ഒന്നിച്ചു ഘോഷിച്ചുല്ലസിക്കയും ദൈവപുത്രന്മാരെല്ലാം സന്തോഷിച്ചാര്ക്കുംകയും ചെയ്തപ്പോള്

6. Upon what were the foundations of it fastened, or who laid its cornerstone,

7. അതിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനം ഏതിന്മേല് ഉറപ്പിച്ചു? അല്ല, അതിന്റെ മൂലക്കല്ലിട്ടവന് ആര്?

7. When the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

8. ഗര്ഭത്തില്നിന്നു എന്നപോലെ സമുദ്രം ചാടിപ്പുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോള് അതിനെ കതകുകളാല് അടെച്ചവന് ആര്?

8. Or who shut up the sea with doors when it broke forth and issued out of the womb?--

9. അന്നു ഞാന് മേഘത്തെ അതിന്നു ഉടുപ്പും കൂരിരുളിനെ അതിന്നു ചുറ്റാടയും ആക്കി;

9. When I made the clouds the garment of it, and thick darkness a swaddling band for it,

10. ഞാന് അതിന്നു അതിര് നിയമിച്ചു കതകും ഔടാമ്പലും വെച്ചു.

10. And marked for it My appointed boundary and set bars and doors, [Jer. 5:22.]

11. ഇത്രത്തോളം നിനക്കുവരാം; ഇതു കടക്കരുതു; ഇവിടെ നിന്റെ തിരമാലകളുടെ ഗര്വ്വം നിലെക്കും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

11. And said, Thus far shall you come and no farther; and here shall your proud waves be stayed? [Ps. 89:9; 93:4.]

12. ഭൂമിയുടെ അറ്റങ്ങളെ പിടിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ അതില്നിന്നു കുടഞ്ഞുകളയേണ്ടതിന്നും

12. Have you commanded the morning since your days began and caused the dawn to know its place,

13. നിന്റെ ജീവകാലത്തൊരിക്കലെങ്കിലും നീ പ്രഭാതത്തിന്നു കല്പന കൊടുക്കയും അരുണോദയത്തിന്നു സ്ഥലം ആദേശിക്കയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

13. So that [light] may get hold of the corners of the earth and shake the wickedness [of night] out of it?

14. അതു മുദ്രെക്കു കീഴിലെ അരകൂപോലെ മാറുന്നു; വസ്ത്രംപോലെ ആസകലം വിളങ്ങിനിലക്കുന്നു.

14. It is changed like clay into which a seal is pressed; and things stand out like a many-colored garment.

15. ദുഷ്ടന്മാര്ക്കും വെളിച്ചം മുടങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു; ഔങ്ങിയ ഭുജവും ഒടിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

15. From the wicked their light is withheld, and their uplifted arm is broken.

16. നീ സമുദ്രത്തിന്റെ ഉറവുകളോളം ചെന്നിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ആഴിയുടെ ആഴത്തില് സഞ്ചരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

16. Have you explored the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in the recesses of the deep?

17. മരണത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകള് നിനക്കു വെളിപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ? അന്ധതമസ്സിന്റെ വാതിലുകളെ നീ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

17. Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the doors of deep darkness?

18. ഭൂമിയുടെ വിശാലത നീ ഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ഇതൊക്കെയും അറിയുന്നുവെങ്കില് പ്രസ്താവിക്ക.

18. Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth? Tell Me, if you know it all.

19. വെളിച്ചം വസിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കുള്ള വഴി ഏതു? ഇരുളിന്റെ പാര്പ്പിടവും എവിടെ?

19. Where is the way where light dwells? And as for darkness, where is its abode,

20. നിനക്കു അവയെ അവയുടെ അതിരോളം കൊണ്ടുപോകാമോ? അവയുടെ വീട്ടിലേക്കുള്ള പാത അറിയാമോ?

20. That you may conduct it to its home, and may know the paths to its house?

21. നീ അന്നേ ജനിച്ചിരുന്നുവല്ലോ; നിനക്കു ആയുസ്സു ഒട്ടും കുറവല്ലല്ലോ; നീ അതു അറിയാതിരിക്കുമോ?

21. You must know, since you were born then! Or because you are so extremely old!

22. നീ ഹിമത്തിന്റെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തോളം ചെന്നിട്ടുണ്ടോ? കന്മഴയുടെ ഭണ്ഡാരം നീ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

22. Have you entered the treasuries of the snow, or have you seen the treasuries of the hail,

23. ഞാന് അവയെ കഷ്ടകാലത്തേക്കും പോരും പടയുമുള്ള നാളിലേക്കും സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

23. Which I have reserved for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war? [Exod. 9:18; Josh. 10:11; Isa. 30:30; Rev. 16:21.]

24. വെളിച്ചം പിരിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നതും കിഴക്കന് കാറ്റു ഭൂമിമേല് വ്യാപിക്കുന്നതും ആയ വഴി ഏതു?

24. By what way is the light distributed, or the east wind spread over the earth?

25. നിര്ജ്ജനദേശത്തും ആള് പാര്പ്പില്ലാത്ത മരുഭൂമിയിലും മഴ പെയ്യിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

25. Who has prepared a channel for the torrents of rain, or a path for the thunderbolt,

26. തരിശും ശൂന്യവുമായ നിലത്തിന്റെ ദാഹം തീര്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും ഇളമ്പുല്ലു മുളെപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

26. To cause it to rain on the uninhabited land [and] on the desert where no man lives,

27. ജലപ്രവാഹത്തിന്നു ചാലും ഇടിമിന്നലിന്നു പാതയും വെട്ടിക്കൊടുത്തതാര്?

27. To satisfy the waste and desolate ground and to cause the tender grass to spring forth?

28. മഴെക്കു അപ്പനുണ്ടോ? അല്ല, മഞ്ഞുതുള്ളികളെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചതാര്?

28. Has the rain a father? Or who has begotten the drops of dew?

29. ആരുടെ ഗര്ഭത്തില്നിന്നു ഹിമം പുറപ്പെടുന്നു? ആകാശത്തിലെ നീഹാരത്തെ ആര് പ്രസവിക്കുന്നു?

29. Out of whose womb came the ice? And the hoary frost of heaven, who has given it birth?

30. വെള്ളം കല്ലുപോലെ ഉറെച്ചുപോകുന്നു. ആഴിയുടെ മുഖം കട്ടിയായിത്തീരുന്നു.

30. The waters are congealed like stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.

31. കാര്ത്തികയുടെ ചങ്ങല നിനക്കു ബന്ധിക്കാമോ? മകയിരത്തിന്റെ ബന്ധനങ്ങള് അഴിക്കാമോ?

31. Can you bind the chains of [the cluster of stars called] Pleiades, or loose the cords of [the constellation] Orion?

32. നിനക്കു രാശിചക്രത്തെ അതിന്റെ കാലത്തു പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കാമോ? സപ്തര്ഷികളെയും മക്കളെയും നിനക്കു നടത്താമോ?

32. Can you lead forth the signs of the zodiac in their season? Or can you guide [the stars of] the Bear with her young?

33. ആകാശത്തിലെ നിയമങ്ങളെ നീ അറിയുന്നുവോ? അതിന്നു ഭൂമിമേലുള്ള സ്വാധീനത നിര്ണ്ണയിക്കാമോ?

33. Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you establish their rule upon the earth?

34. ജലപ്രവാഹം നിന്നെ മൂടേണ്ടതിന്നു നിനക്കു മേഘങ്ങളോളം ശബ്ദം ഉയര്ത്താമോ?

34. Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, so that an abundance of waters may cover you?

35. അടിയങ്ങള് വിടകൊള്ളുന്നു എന്നു നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു പുറപ്പെടുവാന്തക്കവണ്ണം നിനക്കു മിന്നലുകളെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കാമോ?

35. Can you send lightnings, that they may go and say to you, Here we are?

36. അന്തരംഗത്തില് ജ്ഞാനത്തെ വെച്ചവനാര്? മനസ്സിന്നു വിവേകം കൊടുത്തവന് ആര്?

36. Who has put wisdom in the inward parts [or in the dark clouds]? Or who has given understanding to the mind [or to the meteor]?

37. ഉരുക്കിവാര്ത്തതുപോലെ പൊടിതമ്മില് കൂടുമ്പോഴും മണ്കട്ട ഒന്നോടൊന്നു പറ്റിപ്പോകുമ്പോഴും

37. Who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can pour out the [water] bottles of the heavens

38. ജ്ഞാനത്താല് മേഘങ്ങളെ എണ്ണുന്നതാര്? ആകാശത്തിലെ തുരുത്തികളെ ചരിക്കുന്നതാര്?

38. When [heat has caused] the dust to run into a mass and the clods to cleave fast together?

39. സിംഹങ്ങള് ഗുഹകളില് പതുങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുമ്പോഴും അവ മുറ്റുകാട്ടില് പതിയിരിക്കുമ്പോഴും

39. Can you [Job] hunt the prey for the lion? Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions

40. നീ സിംഹിക്കു ഇര വേട്ടയാടിക്കൊടുക്കുമോ? ബാലസിംഹങ്ങളുടെ വിശപ്പടക്കുമോ?

40. When they couch in their dens or lie in wait in their hiding place?

41. കാക്കകൂഞ്ഞുങ്ങള് ഇരകിട്ടാതെ ഉഴന്നു ദൈവത്തോടു നിലവിളിക്കുമ്പോള് അതിന്നു തീന് എത്തിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്നതാര്?

41. Who provides for the raven its prey when its young ones cry to God and wander about for lack of food?
